I am a convert - a Lou Dobbs Independent. He is terrific and the only show I watch on CNN. I agree with everything he espouses. Go Lou!

I would vote for Lou. Throw the illegals back across the border and include the gang members with 'em. Clean up American for the good people. I am tired of liberals and RINOS.

I'd love to see Dobbs run for President. He's about the only candidate who understands the economy and the risks that open boders have for our economy and terrorists. As a former Professional Men's Wrestling analyst, I must take exception to the "Katy bar the Borders" phrase in the title of this otherwise well-written journal entry.
As any Professional Men's Wrestling fan knows, "Katy, bar the door" is often used to as a verbal cue to activity which may lead to a "slobber-knocker" at the very least, or a "pier six-er" at the absolute worst.

This phrase stems from an Olde Scot story of a lady-in-waiting, a Ms. Catherine Douglas using her forearm to latch the door down to prevent enemies of King James I from entering a house in Perth on 20 February 1437.

Her arm was snapped in the process and the king was murdered...
but I digress.

To cut to the chase, I frankly have never seen an arm great enough to expand across a border.

To those on this post who refer to Lou Dobbs as a racist, know the following: Mr. Dobbs is himself married to a Mexican immigrant and has his Mexican immigrant mother and father in law living in his home. Mr. Dobbs as a young man worked in the fields alongside migrant workers in Texas where he is from. There is no political candidate or news anchor with that type of firsthand knowledge and experience on the issue of our Nation’s borders. Mr. Dobbs has children with his Mexican wife Debi and if you agree with the positions he takes or not, I doubt you can possibly think that he is racist towards his wife and kids. To those of you who would refer to Lou as a “know nothing news man”, a little bit of reading would reveal that Lou who came from humble beginnings earned a degree in economics from Harvard. His career as a journalist has been long and distinguished. I am by no means advocating a Dobbs presidential run but I would not rule out supporting him if he did. An articulate third party candidate with strong positions will force the two “mainstream” candidates to better form their arguments. Can anyone truly be excited about Hillary in the same way our parents were excited about Kennedy? Or excited about Mitt Romney in the same way they rallied behind Ronald Regan? Conservatives now realize that Fred Thompson is weaker than circus lemonade and Hillary is a political ameba when compared with her husband. It has always been “the economy stupid” as H.W. Bush knows. Is there a candidate that can better craft an argument on economic policy than Lou Dobbs who does so for an hour every night on national television? Perhaps Mr. Dobbs when given the platform can make Americans understand how cheap goods imported from China are killing our economy (and in some cases ourselves and our children) and how our border security equals our National security. I love to see the Republicans try and frame this as Democrat problem. Republic immigration policies and lack of enforcement of existing laws have contributed to the situation as much as, if not more so, than Dems.

Everyone tip-toes around the issue because they don't want to sound racist or insensitive. That, and they don't want to lose the Hispanic vote.

I usually don't comment on the subject, because I don't pretend to know the answers. It seems clear to me though, that identifying and deporting all illegal immigrants isn't practical. Just in terms of cost (I've seen estimates from $40 billion to $100 billion dollars), is prohibitive (got to save those hundreds of billions for Bush's failed war) Then, of course, there's many other issues involved, worker shortages, etc., that would have to be addressed.

Also, the idea of a continuous fence to stem the flow of illegal immigrants (America's version of the "Great Wall") won't work and would be terribly expensive to build and maintain. What was it Molly Ivins once said? (and others); "build a 50 foot fence and they'll build a 51 foot ladder". She also suggested we punish people who offer undocumented workers jobs, as part of any solution.

Let one wing-nut tell me that Republican businessmen don't hire undocumented workers. Dems are guilty too, but if there were statistics out there, I'd be willing to bet Repubs (who worship unbridled markets and cheap labor), are the bigger offenders. In any case, this is one issue that demands a bi-partisan approach if there's any hope at reaching a solution.

The last resort of illegal imigrant apologists is to pull out the "racist" card. What a crock. My mother's family are Mexican immigrants, and she is dead-set against illegals crossing at will. She understands that some of these people are criminals, and blend in with the larger group. No country in Europe, that I am aware of, will allow you to cross borders at will without indentifying yourself. Are they all racist?
We have the right to know who is coming into our country, what their intentions are, and whether or not they have a criminal record. Personally I believe it imperative Lou Dobbs run for president for the very survival of this nation. I am not a Democrat nor a Republican Although I have voted for candidates of both parties I do not consider my options very good now. Certainly the Media proclaimed "front runners" of either party are not what the masses want and certainly not what they need.

Of candidates that are not owned by the Greed Factor I do not believe they will ever develop enough financial support to get past the media blockers that lie to us about polls and work hard to make sure only their globalist candidates get exposure.
