They dropped Rosie O'Donnell from The View, the daytime TV show.
But they like Michelle Obama, wife of the presidential candidate.
The spouse of the senator from Illinois will co-host the show on Dec. 5, the New York Post is reporting.
Obama's wife will join the show's panel of Whoopi Goldberg, Barbara Walters and others fon its trademark "Hot Topics'' segment, the Post says.
November 19, 2007 -- MICHELLE Obama, the tough-talking wife of Democratic hopeful Barack Obama, is co-hosting "The View" next month.
The controversial Mrs. Obama will appear for the whole hour, sitting in with the panel of Whoopi Goldberg, Barbara Walters and the others for the show's trademark "Hot Topics" segment.
She may even interview celebrity guests.
Michelle Obama has not hidden her dislike for her husband's front-running rival, Sen. Hillary Clinton, a frequent and favored guest on the morning show. Mrs. Obama has predicted that black voters, who currently favor Hillary over Obama in the polls, will turn to her husband as the primaries approach.
Michelle is set to guest host the show Dec. 5.

Comments
Why would you say Mrs. Obama is controversial? I have been following this prez primary very closely, and Michelle Obama not only has not been "controversial" (other than the occasional media induced controversy) she has also been very respectful of Hillary Clinton. I haven't picked up any disdain for Hillary (from M. Obama), and if you read what Michelle has actually SAID on the campaign trail, it's very different than what the press has reported.

The View will be giving Obama a very long and free presidential commercial. Mrs. Edwards has also said some courageous things--where is her spot on The View? Walters is doing her own political engineering.

Mark Silva:
WOOWWWWWWWW, The controversial Mrs. Obama. How dare you are, I never heard that one before that she is controversial. Do you have a dictionary? go figur what this word mean?
Silly.

Read more closely: It's the New York Post that described Michelle Obama as controversial. Not I.

You are so correct. Certain individuals enjoy creating controversy where it does not exist.
I was also surprised to read those comments. I have never seen Michele Obama act or talk negative towards Hilary. They even spoke in detail after the last debate...and hugged. thank goodness we can think for ourselves

Oh great another ugly woman on the view. Notice how Mark Silva felt the need to state that he didnt dare insult Michelle Obama. Dont worry MArk I am sure you still are 1st in line to join Obama's press corps if he somehow miraculously wins the nom.

Another Liberal on "the View"? That's like adding a grain of sand to the Sahara Desert.
Putting Michelle Obama (broadcast experience--zero) on "The View" is significant only to illustrate how much the media is in the tank for the Democrats.

Michelle Obama NOT controversial? Read up on her membership into the CFR (council for foreign relations), an organization involved with the New American Century...anyone in the CFR I'm NOT voting for, that includes McCain, Edwards, Clinton, and even ones not running, i.e., Kerry.
please read up.....y'all have one year to read up...

Why would Silva need to join Obama's press corps, when he is way better off where he is right now in that respect and others. He gets to cover it all. Bush, Hillary, Obama, Ron Paul, barbeques, BillC and Mrs O. White House dinner menus, trips abroad, vacation homes, dogs, and Karl Rove.
You people hate Silva too much really.

Mrs Obama controversial? Mrs Obama has always been direct and polite in all her public appearances. If you are short of words or sentences you better say so instead of falling into diffamation.
Go OBama 08, we love you and support you.

Ellen, there must be some kind of shady connection between the Girl Scouts of America and NASA, because 8 astronauts have been former Girl Scouts. Is this all part of some nefarious plot to sell Girl Scout cookies to extra-terrestrials? Or, should we consider the more likely possibility that a lot of women of a certain social class were Girl Scouts when they were younger?
The CFR is a large snotty rich kid's club with an interest in foreign policy. Is it at all surprising that a few bad seeds in that lot might have imperialist leanings? Does that magically mean the rest of them do, too? That sounds like a logical fallacy, to me.

What has she ever said that is controversial?
Has she ever mocked country singers and insulted housewives everywhere like Hillary Clinton did in 1992?

I love Mrs. Obama. I think she is direct and is her own person. I think many people are put off by that. We are in the USA where woman are allowed to speak their mind. She is a proud educated black woman and many people are proud of her accomplishments. I wish she becomes our country's first lady, what a refreshing new look.

Citizen Kate (love your name)....it all comes down to skull and bones, yep a rich white-boys club...but they want to financially take over the world. I'm not buying it nor am I buying into Hillary's bull. Might be the first time I either don't vote or vote the other way entirely. I hate imperialists, especially in a democracy (but were are not a democracy, now are we?!). In the Pledge of Allegience the words are....*to the republic for which we stand*....
Have a nice holiday season!

Michelle Obama, just like her husband have been very respectful of Sen. Clinton, but she and her campaign did not pay back the gesture! As the campaign went on Mrs. Clinton became erratic, delusional, negative. She and her husband, Bill looked around to blame someone for their poor campaign management. Never did they once think that they had something to do with their loss. She spent millions of dollars of her own money on the campaign. Hillary wanted the presidency for herself! She pandered to the low income whites and they felt for it because Hillary brought up the Race theme. When a white politician is losing they bring up race if their opponent is a person of color. Shame, shame. I love Mrs. Obama and think she is sophisticated and beautiful! She's a class act, just as her husband is: Sen. Obama
