Walter Mondale, the former vice president and onetime Democratic nominee for president, has endorsed New York Sen. Hillary Clinton's candidacy for the White House, the Clinton camp announced today.
“America is ready for change, and Hillary Clinton has the strength and experience to deliver it,” Mondale said in a statement released by the Clinton campaign. “Hillary is uniquely qualified to rebuild America’s standing in the world and lead this nation from her first day in the White House.”
Mondale served as vice president with Jimmy Carter, and ran for president in 1984 -- defeated by then-President Ronald Reagan in his successful bid for reelection. Mondale had served as a senator from Minnesota, and served President Bill Clinton as U.S. ambassador to Japan from 1993-96. Mondale is senior counsel at a Minneapolis law firm.
“Throughout his distinguished career in public service, Walter has been a champion for working families and equality for all Americans,” Sen. Clinton said in a prepared statement. “I am deeply honored to have his support and delighted that he’ll join our effort to change America.''
Mondale has not only a relationship with the Clintons, but also a certain historical interest perhaps. He was the first major-party candidate for U.S. president to tap a woman for a running mate - former Rep. Geraldine Ferraro.

Surprise, surprise Hil got endorsed by Jimma Carter's VP Walter Mondale. She is going to drag out any old Dem still breathing. The amazing thing I've learned about politcs endorsements don't transfer from one candidate to another. Votes are extremely personal-- people who supported Mondale don't necessarily like Hillary.
Endorsements are a way for the driveby media to track campaigns it adds to her bio beyond that zero, zip nadda.Jerry White, Springfield, IL

Was it Andrew Young who withdrew support from Mondale way back when, when he accused the Democratic Party at that time of being too full of "smart assed white boys who think they know everything"? Is that the same Mondale? Is he the same one who picked Gerry Ferrrrrarrro as his running mate? Is he the same Democratic candidate who won 1 out of 50 states in the 1984 election? And is he the one who should have listened to Andrew Young? Hillary/Bill should fully appreciate such a maganaminous endorsement. Next up on the grand endorsement stage for Hillary is another old guard Democrat, the one and only Mikey Duke Dukakis. Yaaaaaayyyy. Hillary/Bill, you go girl!!!

About the last endorsement I would want is from someone who as VP, lost 48 states and in an effort to become president lost 49 states.

Jerry,
What does "drive by media' mean?
Dead-ender lexicon is so... well... dead-ender.

Vote on it.
1. Drive-by media
Rush Limbaugh's term for the sensational, scandal-seeking, and agenda-driven coverage that is typical of the national press corps in America. Limbaugh draws an analogy between the media who cover a story with a barrage of unfair cheap shots before moving on to the next flavor of the month and an inner city gang that drives by and sprays a target with gunfire and then moves on to their next target.
Rush Limbaugh predicted that the response to the alleged murders at Haditha from Democrats, the left, and the media would be a "gang rape ... to finally take us out in the war against Iraq." Limbaugh stated: "This Haditha story ... this is it, folks. This is the final big push on behalf of the Democratic Party, the American left, and the drive-by media to destroy our effort to win the war in Iraq." Limbaugh added: "Let me just put it in graphic terms. It is going to be a gang rape. There is going to be a gang rape by the Democratic Party, the American left, and the drive-by media to finally take us out in the war against Iraq. Make no bones about it."

Hmmm... Technocrats and wonks for Clinton!!! Just an election-winning combination.
It's interesting, I recall Gary Hart wrote a very positive article about Obama for Huffpo a while ago. Should Obama see Hillary's Mondale and raise her a Hart?
I have to say, the more the old, tired Democratic establishment endorses Hillary, the less attractive I find her.
Will she be getting endorsements from Kerry, Lieberman, and Ferraro as well?
Perhaps the Democratic faithful would do best to listen carefully to what the establishment says... and do exactly the opposite.

First off pay no attention to John D, the man is insane. Secondly Hillary will make a great president in spite of Mondales endorsement. When Hillary wins the Whitehouse we can start giving back the consitution to the American people. What a frightening time this has been with Bush and his puppeteer Cheney in charge. These men should be locked up and have the key thrown away.

Is this it? Obama or Hillary? What have either done besides castigating Bush? God help us if that is all it takes for people to vote for them. America is in deep trouble

Th Voice with a Brain, your spelling says it all. I read the voice of reason post and it seemed right on the mark. Hillary would make a good president as would Mr Obama.
Unfortunately I can't say that about the dead wood the makes up the foundation of the GOP ticket. That comes as no surprise though. Your party gave away the constitution. Republican wing-nuts lack a spinal column!!! Quit wetting your bed every time some cave dwelling terrorist sends out a video threat.
