Sen. John McCain has added a congressman and a former senator to his Illinois leadership team in his run for president, his campaign announced today.
McCain's latest Land of Lincoln supporters are freshman Rep. Peter Roskam and former Sen. Peter Fitzgerald. They join Reps. Ray LaHood, John Shimkus and Mark Kirk, along with several state legislators.
Illinois' congressional Republicans are split several ways in the wide-open GOP primary. Reps. Jerry Weller and Judy Biggert are backing former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani. Former Speaker Dennis Hastert has endorsed former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney. Rep. Don Manzullo is backing former Sen. Fred Thompson. The lone uncommitted in the GOP delegation is Rep. Tim Johnson.
From the release:
"John McCain's lifetime of service and sacrifice proves that he understands what it means to put the interests of the nation before his own self interest," said Congressman Peter Roskam. "He is the best candidate we can run to defeat Hillary Clinton."
Former Senator Peter Fitzgerald commended McCain saying, "John has shown unquestionable courage throughout his career in the Navy and in Congress. The experience that he has gained and the leadership he has shown throughout his lifetime is what it will take to meet the challenges we face as a nation, as well as the challenges our party will face in November. John can keep the Reagan coalition strong and beat the Democratic nominee."

The only endorsement in that whole group that means a rip is that of Fitzgerald. It is Fitzgerald who as senator brought Patrick Fitzgerald to Illinois and made every member of the Combine sweat.

McCain should be glad he isn't endorsed by human houseplant, Judy Biggert.

ARIZONA'S WHO, WHAT, WHERE AND WHY MAN GETS ENDORSED BY A WHOLE GROUP OF PEOPLE.
FIRST ANY OF THEM BEEN RENDERED BY THIS GOVERNMENT IN THE LAST 6 YEARS? YES.
HAS ANY OF THEM PARTICIPATED IN THE TORTURE OF ANOTHER HUMANE BEING THEN LET HIM OR HER GO WITH NO CHARGES? YES.
HAS ANY OF THEM ALLOWED THE GOP TO CIRCUMVENT THE LAW, CAGE YOUR VOTE, DENY YOU A RECOUNT OF PROVISIONAL BALLOTS? YES
HAS ANY OF THEM TAKEN A STANCE ON THIS WAR ENDED WAR FOUR YEARS AGO IN EITHER THIS CONGRESS OR THE LAST TWO? NO
HAS ANY OF THEM STOOD BEFORE YOU AS A CONSTITUENT AND SAY EAVESDROPPING ON THE AVERAGE AMERICAN IS NOT UNCONSTITUTIONAL. NO
HAS ANY OF THEM SERVED YOU WELL. IF NO, THEN JOHN MCCAIN ENDORSEMENT IS JUST THAT A SORRY BUTT ENDORSEMENT THAT ISN'T GOING TO TAKE HIM ANYWHERE BUT BACK TO ARIZONA WHERE HE CAN BE RECALLED AND FEEL GREAT SHAME FOR BEING A DO NOTHING SENATOR AT A TIME WHEN AMERICA LOOKED TO HIM AS A MAN, STATESMAN, FATHER, POLITICAL LEADER.
HE HAS IMPRISONED US AS THOUGH IT WAS OUR FAULT HE WAS IMPRISONED BACK IN A DAY!
I DON'T SEE ANY 18-24 YEAR OLDS ON THAT LIST. SO HE SOUGHT THE WRONG ENDORSEMENT. 73 YEAR OLD WASHED UP SENATOR WITH NO RESERVATIONS OF PRESERVING THE CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES.

To respond to the the previous gentlemen, you should find some 18-24 year olds in political office before you make that statement. If they don't need to be in office then you can just add me. I am eighteen and I support Senator John Sidney McCain 100%.

I don't know what to think. This senate "sale" issue has me doing a lot of thinking.
