Actress Shirley MacLaine is delighted that her "her close friend" Dennis Kucinich has acknowledged his sighting of a UFO and hopes it will prompt the government to come clean.
"I thought that was terrific," MacLaine said in an interview on NBC's Today Show this week. "That a presidential candidate admitted it. It's time. Many countries have released their files -- Argentina has, Brazil, France. Let's do it."
It was MacLaine's own memoir -- she is godmother to one of Kucinich's children -- that prompted the Ohio congressman and candidate for president to address his sighting in a Democratic debate last week. Moderator Tim Russert asked: "Congressman Kucinich, I want to move to a different area, because this is a serious question. The godmother of your daughter, Shirley MacLaine, writes in her new book that you sighted a UFO over her home in Washington state ... that you found the encounter extremely moving, that it was a 'triangular craft, silent and hovering,' that you 'felt a connection to your heart and heard directions in your mind.'
Now, did you see a UFO?"
"I did,'' Kucinich replied. "And the rest of the account -- I didn't -- it was an unidentified flying object, OK? It's, like, it's unidentified. I saw something.''
MacLaine, 73, spoke at length in her interview with Matt Lauer about "saging and aging'' -- one of the things she questions is why the U.S. does not acknowledge UFOs.
"When I was 18, living in Arlington, Va., there was a UFO buzzing around the Capitol and the White House,'' she told Lauer, noting that he probably hadn't been born yet. "I was alive, recorded it in my diary. It's had a tremendous effect on me.. I've been interested ever since.''

Boy, you folks love to run trivialities into the ground. Kuch says some very important, down to earth things about the govt, the economy, the war, and all you read about now is this irrelevant ufo stuff. Even Congress has pushed aside his very on the target impeachment resolution.

Wow, two birds w/ one stone. hovering triangle sighting=UFO=Shirley Maclaine=New Age silliness=Kucinich.
Republicans and the USAF/NRO couldn't ask for better than this...

Shirley MacClaine was a great actress in her time, but what a cook. She also believes in reincarnation and thinks her dog is a distant relative from centuries past.
Yikes!!
I wouldn't even "Phone Home" to her.

Shirley MacLaine was an adorable looking lady--and a very funny actress....
However, her lifestyle and beliefs are not of this world and we would not want our daughters to emulate...
Hollywood can be so very damaging to the weak.
Thank you

I think this is ridiculous. Kucinich was accurate saying he saw a UFO. UFO means Unidentified Flying Object, not Space Aliens. He saw something he couldn't identify..that is a UFO.
Focus should be on the other nut-ball statements he made. No way this guy is competent to be President.

OK, while I think both Kucinich and MacLaine are goofy (and not because of UFO sightings), I also think the Swamp spending so much time on Kucinich and UFO story is goofy too.

UFOs are unthinkable. Crazy. Insane.
Virgin birth, on the other hand, is practically a self-evident proposition.
You wingers need to buy some mirrors.

Oops, of course, I meant KOOK.
I have know idea what kind of cook she is.
But then, again, my idea of gourmet cooking is Reses Pieces.

And just why is this guy not electable? He has more guts than most. He wrote HR 333 and had the courage to present it on the House Floor. He is a 6 term congressman, has given 40 years of his life to public service and serves on the Oversight Committee. Why is he a kook? If you going to accuse him of something be specific. Also 14% of Americans have said they have seen UFO's. Every single pilot I know has. Does that make them all crazy too?

Anita ... I agree .... besides, I hear Dennis is going to add even more credits to his presidential hopeful resume. He was Napoleon in a former life! .... Or was it Josephine?

When we have a catastrophe in this country we pray, and the president prays like this will make everything alright. Candidates seem to run on a platform that incorporates an element of the supernatural: God. However when someone says they saw something in the sky that was strange, they are ridiculed. Am I missing something here?? The fact that we can easily accept and talk about faith in god while absolutely rejecting anything else outside our own little personal paradigm is troubling to say the least.

Shirley M's. beliefs don't hurt us, or try to discredit anyone.
Meet The Tim, on the other hand, did his job of getting many people to go off-topic about Kucinich. I think Russert is afraid of the courts, and will do anything to serve the Rs now. Kucinich still is very credible, and we may be thanking him for kicking off the impeachment process re Cheney--when we need something, as a nation, to quickly halt the VP's secretive, crazy or war crying actions--since boy George is in step with C., and would never stop him. The House needs to keep impeachment at hand--on the burner--to keep supervillain, The Penguin, in check--at the very least.

Dennis Kucinich, Jimmy Carter and Fife Symmington?? hmmm... they must all be crazy. Right? Thousands of Pilots, Police officers and other reputable people in our communities have admitted to something that they realize will classify them as "nuts". Blinkin appears to be the only one posting here, who would actually do some research and not listen to what the media wants you to.
"If you think you are alone in the universe, or are the guardians of this universe, you are rudely mistaken!"

Jake, I did not ridicule Mini Me for saying he saw a UFO. As has been noted, lots of folks have and I do remember only a year ago, pilots, grounds crew, flight attendants and others seeing a UFO over O'Hare.
I just think it's silly the Swamp has spent so much time on this piffle.

I don't get it - the people who think Kucinich is a kook because he saw a UFO - which is really just a flying object that is unidentified - seem to be the same people who are totally OK with a president who hears God's voice telling him to bomb Iraq. Go figure. From my perspective, people who say they hear the voice of God telling them to kill other people are the ones who are off their rockers.
In my book, Kucinich is the truest form of patriot because he wants to offer free health care to all Americans, bring the troops home from Iraq, and impeach Cheney - and I don't care what he sees in the sky.

Thanks to Shirley MacLaine for writing this in her book and thanks to Dennis Kucinich for having the courage to admit it.
You people that can't handle the TRUTH of UFOs need to grow up!
This is an important issue and you should study it instead of making fun based on an uninformed opinion.

Kookcinich saw a UFO? he'll be perfect as the president. he could talk to ghosts at the White House, and maybe have sasquatch serve as agriculture secretary.

I want details! Who, where, when, why, and how. All about Kucinich seeing that UFO.
Go out there and get the interview on that!

Barry Goldwater actually believed that Aliens crashed at Roswell! Nancy and Ron were all over the Astrologers. All Kuchinich did was see something he couldn't identify. Why does this matter at all?
