The 2008 Bush calendar. RNC photo
by Mark Silva
With the New Year nigh, it's time to think about that 2008 calendar.
And with President Bush struggling with a public-approval rating that approximates the Farenheit measure of freezing, what better idea than a Bush calendar?
Laura Bush, the First Lady, signs the offer from the Republican National Committee today, peddling a calendar that "spans the entire seven years of George's Presidency.'' The cover has the appearance of a first couple, and the first dogs too, waiting for the last train out of Dodge -- with the president's cowboy hat hanging on the bench.
The images in the calendar, the first lady explains, are intended to remind Amerians of the country's greatness and about "how high the stakes are for America in the upcoming elections.'' Cash collections from the calendar will go toward helping the GOP keep the White House, she notes.
The price is right, the first lady says: $25 or more, for the RNC.
This is the email message from the first lady and the Republican National Committee:
"As a strong supporter of our President and our Party,'' the first lady writes in the RNC email solicitation for calendars today, "I wanted to make sure you had the first opportunity to have an official 2008 RNC calendar featuring President Bush.
"The images in the calendar span the entire seven years of George's Presidency. I hope they will remind you of what's great about our country and how high the stakes are for America in the upcoming elections.
"To receive your limited edition 2008 RNC calendar, please make an online gift of $25 or more to the RNC today.
"... grassroots leaders like you are the backbone of the Republican Party. Your continuing commitment to the RNC is critical to keeping the White House in Republican hands and regaining our majorities in the U.S. House and Senate in the 2008 elections.
"So please take a moment to make a secure online contribution of $25 or more today and you will receive your calendar from the RNC in a few days. Thank you for your ongoing support of our President and our cause.
"Best wishes,
Laura Bush''

For me and for many others in this country, if not the rest of the world, it'll be a pleasure to greet the dawn of Jan 20, 2009. I'm sure they'll join me in wishing the best to the new resident of the White House, regardless of party affiliation, and that the country may start anew.
However should the current Dem. front runner be elected, I'd be happy to pay money for a ticket to see the looks on the face of JohnnyDeWeenie, Paulo and JerryWhite, Springfield, IL during the Inauguration :-)

I could use it for a dart board.

She's right on both points. Americans need to be reminded of the countries greatness before George W Bush tarnished it. The first lady also hit's the nail on the head when she stresses the importance of the next election. We have a cahnce to begin undoing the great damage done by her husband and his parther in CRIME Dick Cheney. They can stick that calender where the sun don't shine!!!

It it true that every date on the calendar is 9/11?
And is one of the pictures the one of a smiling Don Rumsfeld shaking hands with Saddam Hussein??

Ahhh, more maniacal meanderings from the dregs of society: the Loony Left.
As I was reading the pro-euthenasia letter in the Sunday Tribune, I was thinking how the writer made many good points. One point left out, was the folks in absolute misery every dreary day of their dreary lives: the Loony Left and how euthanasia is just what they need to do for themselves!

Ahh, more useless words from JohnnyDeWeenie. Such anger and hate Jonhnny, that you advocate others to end their lives. Get some qualified help, you need it.

The teenager here continues to attack the messengers, and not the message. The other direct, and topic-oriented posts are a delight to read.

If the paper isn't glossy, I've got an appropriate use of the Dubya calendar.

Is this one of those count down calendars? "Only 400 days left to King George's reign"

John D, off the Meds again I see. The dregs of society? Someone please refer John D to the nearest mental ward. I sure hope he doesn't work at a post office.

I better make sure not to voice my opinion on that calender. With George Bush every day is a bad one. I don't want to be reminded in 2008 of how bad the last few years have been for America with this petty wanna-be dictator in office. I'll throw a party when he's banished to Crawford Texas, never to be heard from again.
