The Barack Obama campaign likes to underpromise and overdeliver, especially when it comes to the venues for their events.
Once again, the site they booked is too small for all of the people who want to come, and they're changing it "due to sustained and overwhelming demand."
This time the extravaganza that got too big for its britches is the Sunday rally in South Carolina with Oprah Winfrey.
Before, it was at the basketball arena. Now they need the football stadium.
Kick-off is at 2:30 p.m. Oprah takes the field with a 0-0 record for electing presidents.

I really hope Oprah helps deflates some of the negative press that Hillary's mud slinging contest has brought. The change slogan was adopted after Obama's slogan, when the only thing she has changed is many of the positions she has taken in hopes that it will increase here electibity. Oprah knows we need change we can beleive in!

Way to Go! We love you Barack!
You have my vote!
We need a president that can bring about positive change in this country.
Our time is now!

The reason that "Barack likes a really, really big room" is because he understands that we need to be more inclusive and respectful in the way we live our lives and the way we do our politics. He brings folks together instead of driving wedges!
Hey, the bigger the tent, (or stadium in this case), the better!
And I second the sentiments of the first post . . .your sarcasm is way over the top, Ms. Parsons!

Here's hoping Obama makes a big splash in the buckle of the Bible belt. South Carolina is winnable for him. A lot of those old, hard bowel, negative human separatists have died off and more positive, forward thinking people reside in abundance there. Hillary has great appeal for some strange reason to those Democrats who like the way she basks in the sunshine of Big Bill. However many of them are beginning to see just how underwhelming she is as a stand alone.

Say what you want about Oprah. But she would not be backing Obma if she did not beleive he is the best choice. Oprah is skipping over HIllary and we all know Oprah lives and breaths Women causes. Opram put women, white black (ALL women) before black men. Lets be real here. So WHY is she skipping over HIllary for Obama a Black man? He MUSt be the better choice.

Looks like The Swamp has become a lovefest for the Obama liberal loons.
Just remember this story;
After Nixon rolled over McGovern in 1972 with a 49 state win the libs asked one another, How did Nixon win? We don't know anybody that voted for him.

BECUASE THE TICKETS ARE FREE,People are coming to see Oprah, just like a train wreck, you stop, look, and keep going, doesn’t mean they will vote for obama? The saddest part of this is that Oprah is using her TV viewers that supported her show because she has praised herself as being opposed race bias and especially gender discrimination, NOW LOOK AT HER, completely the opposite. We are witnessing the true Oprah Winphrey. I can tell you as a previous black woman and faithful oprah viewer, I will no longer be interested in anything that is connected to oprah... She just put women back 50 years and black women back 100 years! PLEASE Wise up IOWA /NH ladies! This is about the safety and security for ALL our children, their education and most importantly their health care. Shame on you Oprah for selling out your supporters...We adored who we thought you were

Jonnie, get a grip. Why so negative? Oprah set women back 50 years? She has been a great advocate for empowering women. She is the most famous, most popular woman in America, and conceivably the most popular American in the World, and you would begrudge her the right to hold on to that popularity and still choose to support a man, who she believes is the better choice?
Pity the black woman who believes Oprah is setting them back 100 years. The horror! Do Black women really want Hillary to be president in such vast numbers as one is led to believe? I don't think so. Your connection to the Bill mystique is bewildering. Don't you realize that that show is over. America wants to get past the memory of a president and husband losing his dignity and shaming his wife, and a wife who turns that shameless event into a selfish political gain. How cunning! Do you like that kind of stuff, Jonnie. Wake up and smell the reality of tomorrow. Vote for Barack, a Black man for all people.

wake up Jonnie, you are slower than most, do you actually think that Hillary would visit your house, sit on your toilet, I think not, she is a professional politician who grew up with people who look liker her, went to schools of people who look like her, and now she is sympathetic to people of color? I think not just because Bill is involved with women of color doesn’t mean Hillary is don’t be so slow dumb. Oprah's not the sell out YOU ARE!
Posted by: stephen | December 6, 2007 9:49 AM
Jonnie,
You are no longer a black woman? You said "as a previous black woman". And I'm not sure how she is selling out. You make no sense.

Obama was elected to represent the people of Illinois, yet since his election he has been A.W.O.L. in that respect. The local infrastructre is crumbling, mass transit is in desperate need of funding yet Obama has failed to deliver. While other states' representatives are "earmarking" federal funds for projects in their respective states Obama has delivered nothing due to his running for President almost as soon as he reached the Senate. If he can't or won't deliver for the people he is supposed to represent how can he be counted on to deliver for the rest of the country?

Jonnie sounds like a campaign worker. I read lots of comments and typically do no respond however, when I saw this exact same comment on another site....it made me wonder if Jonnie is really who she says she is. Political trickery I think. Sad really that politicians think we americans are so dumb.

If Barack Obama was a big grown man, he'd be able to do this by himself instead of bringing "mommy" in to speak up. I am, in NO way prejudice, but I feel that she may be supporting him because he is, after all, the first African American! In retrospect, I don't recall her everrrr speaking for any other senator running for presidency.
At first, I was really excited that Oprah was coming here (SC) to speak!! A FREEEEE show!!!??? Never heard of that. Her tickets are usually very expensive you know. Well, I sat there and thought a minute and what came to my mind was very disappointing. Draw your own conclusion.
Anyway, I WAS having a hard time deciding which one I wanted to vote for. After all this, I'm sure of who I'm voting for!
Way to go Obama! Way to be a man who can't speak for himself. As for one of the above comments, Hillary may "stand alone" but she stands strong.
Posted by: Chrissy | December 6, 2007 9:04 PM
hey chrissy, oprah isn't supporting obama because he is black. If that is the case why isn't she supporting alan keyes a black man running for the republican nomination this year! People like you are such hypcrites. Using your logic the only reason streisand and speilberg are supporting hillary because she is white.

THE LIES OF THE CLINTONS - THE IRAQ WAR - OPINIONS VERSUS THE TRUTH
Bill Clinton's Claim of Opposing Iraq War From Outset Disputed - "A former senior aide to then-national security adviser Condoleezza Rice disputed Bill Clinton's statement this week that he "opposed Iraq from the beginning," saying that the former president was privately briefed by top White House officials about war planning in 2003 and that he told them he supported the invasion."
Commentary: More lies from the spiritually shallow Clintons. See: Text Of Clinton's Feb. 17, 1998 Statement On Iraq - President Clinton's address to Joint Chiefs of Staff and Pentagon staff - "If Saddam rejects peace and we have to use force, our purpose is clear. We want to seriously diminish the threat posed by Iraq's weapons of mass destruction program."
Background: On May 2, 2003 Pope Benedict XVI, as Cardinal Ratzinger, (Head of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith) stated: “He (John Paul II) did not impose this position ('Iraq War not necessary') as doctrine of the Church but as the appeal of a conscience enlightened by faith” (Zenit News Agency).
The above statement by Pope Benedict, while truthful, does not reveal any evidence that these two men actually prayed about this issue like President George W. Bush did. Since there is only ONE Holy Spirit, why are Pope John Paul II and Cardinal Ratzinger's views on the Iraq War the same as radical Islamists, terrorists, morally corrupt left-wing liberal Democrats, biased people in the U.S. media, immoral Hollywood movie "stars," and other selfish, spoiled Americans? The answer is that they were simply "opinions" that were confirmed to be incorrect because of the morally twisted people that agreed with them. Many other good men & women (including veterans who suffered far more than Pope John Paul II did during World War II) did pray about this matter & strongly disagreed with their conclusions - and to this day continue to disagree with Pope Benedict XVI on this moral issue. You are known by the type company you keep, and this is also true of your opinions. When your opinion is according to God's Holy Will, many good people will agree with you, but if your opinion is not according to God's Will, for the most part people not right with God will find agreement with your point of view.
However, unlike many U.S. Democrats, Pope John Paul II's thoughts on the Iraq War were not voiced in an arrogant, judgmental manner. He loved America, and praised President George W. Bush's moral leadership. See: President George W. Bush Presents Medal of Freedom to Pope John Paul II, June 4, 2004 - "I also continue to follow with great appreciation your commitment to the promotion of moral values in American society, particularly with regard to respect for life and the family....Mr. President, as you carry out your lofty mission of service to your nation and to world peace, I assure you of my prayers and cordially invoke upon you God's blessings of wisdom, strength and peace."
Pope John Paul II never praised President Clinton for his "moral values," because Clinton, along with most Democrats, believe you have the "right to kill" someone through an abortion - a horrible crime against humanity that has resulted in the cruel deaths of millions & millions of innocent, defenseless, unborn human beings.
Cardinal Ratzinger later confirmed: "There may be a legitimate diversity of opinion, even among Catholics about waging war and applying the death penalty, but not however with regard to abortion and euthanasia" (Italian magazine "L'espresso," June 2004 - published online in July).
Would Pope John Paul II have considered it a "Just War" if France, England, and the U.S. had disarmed Germany, preventing Hitler from invading Poland and other countries or deliberately exterminating & killing millions of innocent Jewish people? The vast majority of Americans agreed with President George W. Bush's decision to disarm Iraq, and eliminate their capacity to wage war when it was thought by U.S. intelligence agencies that Iraq was developing biological, chemical, and nuclear weapons that could be used against the United States and other countries.
Aided by the Democratic Party, the House and Senate overwhelmingly approved the Iraq War Resolution.
If President Bush is a "liar," why aren’t double-tongued Democrats held accountable? Do they think faulty intelligence on Iraq only came through Bush? It originally came from Bill Clinton's administration.
Hypocritical, immoral Democrats want it both ways - they supported the Iraq War Resolution, but also want to place the blame for going to war on President Bush. President Bush’s only mistake was to trust incorrect intelligence reports. But others, including politicians from the U.S. Democratic Party made the same type of mistake. For example:
"We know that he has stored secret supplies of biological and chemical weapons throughout his country."
Al Gore, Sept. 23, 2002 (Vice-President under Clinton - ran for President in the year 2000)
"We have known for many years that Saddam Hussein is developing weapons of mass destruction."
Senator Ted Kennedy (Massachusetts), Sept. 27, 2002.
"I will be voting to give the President of the United States the authority to use force — if necessary — to disarm Saddam Hussein because I believe that a deadly arsenal of weapons of mass destruction in his hands is a real and grave threat to our security."
Senator John F. Kerry (Massachusetts), Oct. 9, 2002.
“He (Saddam Hussein) has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists, including al-Qaida members....Left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare, and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons."
Senator Hillary Clinton (New York), Oct 10, 2002
As you can see from the above, many U.S. Democrats have very short memories when it comes to the judgments of leaders in their own political party.
