MANCHESTER, N.H. - Bonnie Raitt and Jackson Browne have a new gig in the Granite State: Opening up for former Sen. John Edwards as he campaigns for president here.
Raitt and Browne, both of whom were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, will travel with Edwards for two days next week beginning Tuesday, performing at town hall meetings in Lebanon, Keene, Nashua, Portsmouth and Manchester.
In a press release from the Edwards campaign, Raitt said Edwards is a "leading voice for change in our country."
"He's been one of the only strong, effective advocates for ending the war in Iraq and bringing our troops home," she said. "And when he talks about creating opportunity, he isn't talking about creating opportunities for corporate CEOs to get ahead, he's talking about making sure regular, hard-working Americans have a fair chance to succeed."
Browne was similarly laudatory.

Comments
Edwards is the only candidate to advocate for average Americans-He is going to make a terrific President.

Yep, Mr. Edwards, it's great strategy to have a wife beater like Jackson Browne campaign for you! Smart move!

Edwards is the man to beat right now, with the gender and racial candidates engaged in MAD.
Look for Edwards to win Iowa.

I predict this will have the same effect as when he had Hootie and the Blowfish open for him in 2004.

I don't care who is campaigning for him, I'm voting for his message not Jackson Browne. I do like Bonnies music though. Mostly I just know that if there is a FDR like democrat in this race it is Edwards and I can't wait to elect him. Keep it up Pres. Edwards.

I will vote for Edwards if given the chance. He is the best one to dig us out of the many years of deceit from the Cheney/Bush privatization of America.
For me, celeb endorsements don't make any difference. In fact, I don't care for the practice. It is possible for me to arrive at my own conclusions. What glitters is not always smart or golden.

Which song do you suppose Jackson Browne will open with: Running on Empty or The Pretender?

Dear John D. Clearly you do not know the facts of the alleged incident between Jackson Browne and Ms. Hannah. The police came to Mr. Browne's house because HE called them, there was no indication of abuse and Ms. Hannah never requested that charges be brought. It is this erroneous dreck that republicans mindlessly spew that again, simply reaffirms one of the million reasons why we need a change in the administration/party in power.

I am glad to see Jackson Browne work to help a worthy candidate be elected. I find it offensive that someone said would JB open with the Pretender when they do the campaign music..If he and Bonnie Raitt or any other famous people want to help someone who will make a difference for our country I say YES!!!
