GUTTENBERG, Iowa -- Sen. Barack Obama rarely wears a tie on the campaign trail, unless he has an important meeting or television interview that day.
But today, as he has campaigned in northeast Iowa, he has worn a tie with his dark suit all day, even though he has been mostly in small towns and rural areas where ties are few and far between.
Asked about the addition of neck wear, Obama communications director Robert Gibbs said he asked the candidate the same question and was told that the Illinois Democrat put one on this morning to try to keep his neck warm on a cold day.
All of Obama's events have been indoors today, but the temperature here at this hour is 18 degrees.

BTW, did anyone notice Mitt Willard didn't have on a lapel American flag the other day?
No one made mention of it.
You would think it might of got a line considering what happened to Obama.

What does it have to do with my understanding in our presidential candidates whether Obama wears a tie?
Sheer none-sense reporting. Is Obama running for Oscar or the White House? Please don't insult voters' intelligence.

You have got to be kidding me! Obama wears a tie! Wow! Stop the presses! Give it a 72-point headline. Stop all TV shows and give us a Breaking News Alert! Barack Obama wears a tie and because it's cold outside!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hillary never wears a tie, either, fashion plate that she is. Be sure to let us know if she ever wears a skirt.

Shouldn't the media be reporting on Obama's experience so that the voters can make informed judgments? Like for example his stance on ........???? Ummmm, or rather, how about Obama's position on .....????? Uhhhh......
You know what, never mind.
So what color was the tie anyway?

Ben R.
Obama's position on abortion and late term abortion is [YES!]
Obama's stance on guns for law abiding citizens is [NO!]
And...he wants us,the [tax-payers] to pay for everyones medical insurance too, it's only going to cost a few hundred billion a year or more.
Barack Obama/Hugo Chavez in 08!

You're really paranoid about Senator Obama aren't you, little Ben?
You should be considering the sad sack candidates the Republicans are running this time (Rudy McRomster).
Say it with me slowly Benny,
P R E S I D E N T Barack Obama!

Hey wing nuts, this article lightens up our day from the endless hopeless news that comes from your W.H.
What do you want to see, more news about the "Great Bush" housing boom?
More news about soldiers getting blown up because they were sent into battle ill prepared by your Prez?
Here's some great news, the wealthiest one percent of Americans income is up 20% since the "Great Bush" tax cuts for the wealthy.
Oh yeah, you're share of the debt is the same as theirs!!!!!!!!!!!

You are upset that people are criticizing Obama's neck tie? I believe that actually makes you the more paranoid one in this situation.
Regardless, the lack of experience Obama has should be a concern to everyone. Hopefully by this time next year the only thing he will be P R E S I D E N T of is Oprah's Book Club.

Little Ben,
Your "no experience" argument losses steam when we look at all of the experience that your heroes in the Chimp in Chief and Veep Cheney administration
had and yet they STILL managed to make a fine mess of our country and others (Iraq).
Say it with me, Benny:
P R E S I D E N T Obama!

Ben R. The media can't spend that much time talking about Obama's experience. He's only served a year in the United States Senate before an illustrious presence in the state senate.
I'm sorry, I have nothing against Obama per se, and I do believe America need change. I don't buy that "hope" will rescue this nation...a plan will. It took Obama far too long to get into specifically what he would do as President. I suspect that's because he needed to get his policy advisors in gear to help him shape his platform. Granted all candidates do the same thing, but Edwards has been out of the gate offering detailed proposals and policy stances from day one. I think John Edwards is a better choice, and has the best chance to get the WH in Dem hands. We should have reversed the ticket last time but we got tricked into drinking the kool-aid that Kerry being a Vietnam vet would mean he'd be an effective leader in the "war of terror." WRONG. His wife was tougher than he was.

Paulo,
I don't think his health care plan will cost a few hundred billion a year. If it does, we need leadership to manage, it.
I am confident under Obama that we will get what America needs.
Under Bush, we could expect to find taxes wasted and people not able to find or afford health care.
Bush would appoint a Brownie to manage these funds and congratulate him when the funds go missing or people get bad care.

Hey Mr. McCormick - was the tie made in the USA? was child labor used in the manufacturing of that tie? Start earming your pay.
