Old rivalries usually die hard, but Sen. Barack Obama prides himself on crossing traditional
barriers.
And he has certainly managed to do so in picking up the endorsement of all African American members of the Illinois General Assembly, a feat officially announced today.
Obama's rise in the Illinois Senate sometimes caused friction within the caucus, with a few prominent and respected veterans sometimes feeling that the newcomer was stepping ahead of them in line.
But both Sens. Rickey Hendon and Donne Trotter are on the pro-Obama list these days. Obama's backing from Senate President Emil Jones, Obama's loyal friend and tireless promoter, didn't hurt any.
"Every time we needed his help, Barack Obama stood up for us," Jones said in a statement today, "and we need to stand up for him by voting on February 5th to elect Barack our next President.”

Goodness gracious, this is wonderful! Why is it Obama's endorsements are always in the tiny print in faraway newspapers? Why aren't these endorsements also in the other newspapers, like Hillary Clinton's whose endorsement headlines are always IN BOLD PRINT in every newspaper online and offline? Too bad. I think Obama's being swiftcanoed, I wish he would stomp, scream and shout and kick like Clinton does when she feels she's being 'attacked'.

RuthieM, you obviously don't know much about these clowns, Hendon and Trotter. Or that consummate old-school, "machine" politician Emil Jones.
I don't know where you're from, but those of us from Chicago know that celebrating these endorsements would be like celebrating an endorsement from our incompetent, hack County Board president Todd Stroger.
These are not endorsements Obama would want to trumpet. Trust me.

Is an endorsement from Rickey "I'm Racist and Damned Proud of It" Hendon anything Obama should be associating with? Just take a gander at this week's Indigo magazine, page 7 quoting Illinois Senator Hendon:
“All my views and support of other elected officials and candidates are based on my belief that if those people and issues do not, in my opinion, serve the best interests of Black people, I cannot and will not support them. It is just that simple!”
Obama ought to be running as fast as he can to distance himself from that kind of rhetoric and the Democratic Party leaders had better get a muzzle on their guy. What an embarrasment.
Makes we want to pull a ballot for the Republicans!
