Politics ain’t beanbag, as daytime talk show diva Oprah Winfrey may be learning.
Her foray into the political realm –campaigning this month for Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama—generated huge headlines.
But according to a poll released Thursday by Fox News, Winfrey’s unfavorable rating ranks with some of the candidates running for president.
Winfrey has a 55 percent approval rating, roughly comparable to Bill Clinton and Sen. John McCain, and a 33 percent unfavorable rating, putting her in the same neighborhood with Obama (33 percent), John Edwards (35 percent), Mitt Romney (36 percent) and Fred Thompson (32 percent).
New FOX News/Opinion Dynamics poll results are now available online:

SAD DAY IN AMERICA. WHO'S NEXT WASHINGTON, OREGON, YOU WTO PROTESTERS.
WHERE IS THE NATIONAL GUARD IN OKLAHOMA. I BET IT'S REALLY COLD, AND YOUR GOVERNOR IS SAYING ANYTHING BECAUSE HE IS THE PROBLEM. HE DOESN'T WANT TO RUFFLE ANY FEATHERS WHILE YOUR GRANDMOTHER BURNS CAT FOOD FOR DINNER.
WAKE UP OPRAH. WAKE UP AND GET INVOLVED AND HAVE BARRACK DO ALL OF HIS SPEECHES AT THE DOORSTEPS OF THE GOVERNOR OF LOUSIANA, LET THOSE PEOPLE GO, LET THEM GO HOME. IF HOME IS GOOD ENOUGH FOR A BULLDOZER AND A NEW DEVELOPER IT WAS GOOD ENOUGH FOR THE MAN, WOMAN AND CHILD THAT LIVED THERE PRIOR TOO.
WAKE UP OBAMA, I HAVE A DREAM AND WASHINGTON ISN'T LISTENING.

What were her poll numbers before she endorsed Obama?

That same poll also shows Hillary with a 29-point lead over Obama by the way.

And according to a Lifetime Network/Zogby Poll, Oprah's endorsement has turned off as many women voters as it has turned on. See http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/dn/latestnews/stories/122007dnnatoprahpoll.25512e3.html
The DNC Swamp hyped Oprah's endorsement of Obama with 15 (!) articles--about one article for every voter swayed. As is the case with much about Obama, the hype doesn't reflect easily ascertained reality.

Wow, no big surprise here, the Wingnut talking heads at Fixed News Channel would be telling us about how popular Oprah is if she were endorsing one the god awful Republic Party candidates.
Fixed News Channel does it again. Their antics remain unbalanced and biased. Here they are slamming Barack Obama for being....black:

Having a lesbian flying all over the country in her private jet to stump for Muslim candidate is not a good thing.
And the polls are showing it to be true.

Opr*h's niche is entertainment. She needs to not take herself so seriously. The idea that she might not help an author who does not want to genuflect to her on her show, or, the idea that others really give a sh*t who she might endorse is pretty funny. This is a woman who puts her own face on her mag. cover each month--after month--after month. I don't think she's the altruistic soul that she wants us all to believe. I am not a Hilla*y fan, however, why did Opr*h endorse Ob*ma first time endorsing any pres. candidate? Why not endorse a woman first time out--since most of her income is generated from womens' isues? BTW, does she know how old and sad the Steadman shtick is? She needs to alert the grocery store rags and give them a heads up.
Paulo--is that the best you have? Are you an a*s, or just twelve?
Roger Morris--even though you yell at people often with your caps--I agree with your post. I hear you. It does looks like social engineering in Louisiana--and a new type of gerrymandering. Washington is not deaf--has selective hearing.

This is not going to help ... Oprah is campaigning for Obama because he is black like her ... and people are realizing it is ok they can vote against him ... because he is not white like they are. It works both ways.

If you believe anything that comes out of Fox, then you deserve all the surprises that you're gonna get when reality comes knocking on your forhead.

with Obama's significant shifts/ flip flopping on issues such as Patriot Act, Defense of Marriage Act, Fast Track trade authority and benefits for same-sex couples. Given how little experience, campaign doesnt want any focus on his record, clearly raise questions about his electability and serves reminder about how little the public knows about his positions. Illinois chapter of the National Organization for Women, Obama said he would vote to repeal the Patriot Act. In 06 Obama voted for the redrafted version of the Patriot Act that made only minor changes. On Defense of Marriage Act Obama answered No, to the question: "Do you support repeal of the Defense of Marriage Act. On Fast Track authority, which requires Congress to vote yes or no and without amendments on pending trade deals, Obama opposes Fast Track authority. Benefits for same-sex couples, Obama said he would need to evaluate the fiscal impact before extending Social Security benefits to same-sex couples. Obama is involved in a suspicious real estate deal with an indicted political fundraiser, Antoin Tony Rezko. Obama also linked to an alleged influence peddling scandal and was nabbed conducting campaign business in his Senate office, a violation of federal law. In addition three political aides on Sen. Barack Obama’s payroll are registered lobbyists for dozens of corporations, including Wal-Mart, British Petroleum and Lockheed Martin, while they received payments from his campaign, according to public documents. The Oprah Winfrey endorsement might have generated a lot of press for Barack Obama, but not a lot of impress, particularly among younger women, a poll released Wednesday shows.
A Lifetime/Zogby poll of women shows that of those 18 to 29, almost a third said they were less likely to support the Illinois senator because of the Oprah support. Older women, over 65, also showed they were ruffled by Ms. Winfrey stepping "out of her pew," as the daytime diva herself described it. About 17 percent of older women said the endorsement made them less likely to support Mr. Obama. "Oprah's endorsement represents a disconnect to me between what the community needs and her motives, which are likely strategic and brand oriented," he says. "More than a black president, what black America needs are an economic environment that is conducive to optimal job creation and a radical reform of the public school system, and in both instances Obama is not the guy."
