Chavez was stupid. Why bother with a referendum? He should have done like Musharraf and used the military to lock up his opposition and replace all the judges who disagree with him. If he'd have done that, he's be dictator for life AND the Bush admininstration would have sent him billions in aid just like Pakistan.

I guess Democracy does work in Venezuela. I am surprise they rejected it. But, I am happy at the same time. Nobody should be in power forever. We got rid of Authocracies a long time ago. There's no need to go back and make everyone a Surf! There should be constant changes to induce new ideas and directions.
