The Swamp

by Rick Pearson

NASHUA, N.H.—With bright sunshine and temperatures at some spots in the mid-60s, as well as multiple voter choices in each political party, New Hampshire election officials say primary turnout has been heavy today with some towns needing extra ballots to satisfy Democratic voters.

Candidate supporters took advantage of the unusually mild weather to stand on the street corners of the Amherst Street Elementary School in Nashua, waving signs and asking motorists to honk as voters came to the school, which also is serving as a polling place.

Secretary of State William Gardner was predicting a record turnout of 500,000 voters, but even that number might be eclipsed. Gardner also was forecasting that of about 150,000 independent voters in the state, two-thirds of them may pick up a Democratic ballot.

That could be good news for Illinois Democratic Sen. Barack Obama, seeking his second consecutive early-nominating state victory. But its more uncertain how that might affect things on the Republican side, where Sen. John McCain of Arizona has counted heavily on support from independents in his battle against Mitt Romney, the former governor of neighboring Massachusetts.

Independents were a key factor in helping McCain eight years ago, when he won New Hampshire and handily defeated then-Texas Gov. George W. Bush.

Yep, the New Hampshire voters are out in full force and it looks like they're all taunting Seany Hannity:

Poor Seany baby, it couldn't have happened to a nicer fascist.

Looks like another Mit wipe-out. & where's Rudy?

According to the article, with independents, you have two voters requesting a DEMOCRATIC ballot for every one independent requesting a Republican ballot.

How can this not be a great sign for the Democrats for the November election?

"With bring sunshine and temperatures at some spots in the mid-60s, as well as multiple voter choices in each political party..."

Can you please proofread articles before you post them?

please god, all i want for christmas is a democrat as president!

Obama is bright, he's articulate, he has charisma. I see a Bobby Kennedy-like groundswell.

Republics have no answer, just more of the same in candidates Willard, Rudy, and McCain. Oh, they do have Ron Paul, but Faux News and Sean Insanity don't embrace him:

This is the best pre-elections since my very first vote in 1990....Go Obama...Go Obama.

The large percentage of Independents asking for Democratic ballots is a signal of the anti-Hillary vote. Everyone wants to get rid of her during the primaries.

Please God, all I want for Christmas is President that will UNITE the country...I don't care if that person is a Democrat or a Republican.

GO BARACK!
I moved to NH in 2001 from Illinois, made it a Blue state, my job there is done! GO BARACK!

According to an ad supporting boy george's election run in 2000, "...Mr. McCain voted against solar and renewable energy programs, leading to "more use of coal-burning plants that pollute our air." If boy george thinks McCain is such a bad candidate, why should anyone vote for McCain this year? As a matter of fact, if McCain gets the nod, I can't wait for the Dem's to pull out all the old anti-McCain ads run by former republicrite competitors and run them again and again. It will be great! Using the repubics own mud against their chosen savior.

You wack jobs!

A Democrate in the White House?

America into the Dark Ages would be more like it!

What will Obama do?
What has he done?

What are you so excited about?

He's from the most politically corrupt state in the Union.
He's done nothing there as a State Rep.
He's done nothing for Ill in the short period he's been a Senator.

Yep, get ready for higher taxes. This is going to be great! Good job liberals...

"Republics have no answer, just more of the same in candidates Willard, Rudy, and McCain."

Republics? Is this some new party? or are you just SO excited that you can't type fast enough to get your message across to the dozens of people on this blog?

This is nothing more than a forthcoming Howard Dean train wreck.
Wait till the press starts to look into Obama's shady background...
They'll tear him down faster than a Dean Scream.

Paulo

Obama is charging ahead and does represent hope and change. However, is he the right person to lead us against the Islamic nutjobs who want to end Western civilization? I don't think so.

Oh great...a new troll.

"Yep, get ready for higher taxes. This is going to be great! Good job liberals..."

What a moronic statement. Only someone as stupid as a Republic would say that.

The Democrats in New Hampshire are running out of ballots and the poor little GOPers can't even give away their ballots.

Looks like America is finally waking up and rejecting the Republic Party brand name in mass numbers!

Pleeease don't tarnish Bobby Kennedy's memory. Obama has the same egomaniac personality as our current president and that scares me. We don't need another "DECIDER."

"You wack jobs!

A Democrate in the White House?

America into the Dark Ages would be more like it!"

How funny! What is a "democrate"? I'll bet that is how George Bush spells DEMOCRAT. You "Republics" need to recognize that these miserable years we have endured are coming to an end, and the younger voters of the United States are finally coming out to the polls to have their vote count. Every die-hard republican that has NOT already decided that they are seeking a democrat as president is patiently waiting for a dark spot to show up on Barack's past...stop hating and pick up a banner for the USA. Celebrate the freedoms that this country was founded on and embrace a great new day for us ALL! HOORAY FOR ILLINOIS!

OBAMA IN 2008!

The Clinton campaign has been peddling the same quote since March 2007 for goodness sake! (It's there in the link - Washington post article)

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/03/19/AR2007031902165.html

This is just Bill getting frustrated. I think Barack's explanation is perfectly credible!

I think this argument from Bill stinks, and the whole argument that his senate votes have been the same as Hillary most of the time irrelevant, cocky, and presumptuous.

Maybe Hillary copied Obama? Maybe they just agreed? Although certainly not on Iraq.

There will be higher taxes no matter who is elected as president. We have to pay the bills that George Bush has run up for us and our children. That being said, Obama still represents a candidate with a point of view on international relations that our current administration is sorely lacking.

Just another foreshadowing of what is coming (see 06).

Probably another 15-20 seats in the Senate and close to 30 in the House to boot.

And the Republics will continue to drive off a cliff en masse.

Christmas in November this year.

Obama's shady background...

Please, you reich-wing wackjob. Espouse for us and edify. Tell us all about his background. That is, what hasn't been exposed as hysterical hand wringing by lying corrupt repubics bent on perverting the Constitution and the electoral process, republicrites bent on a theocratic hegemony and christian sharia jurisprudence.

I agree, the Republic party is going down in flames again. Just like they did in 2006. It's like a mass suicide with invisible kool-aid. At least they knew what they were doing at Jonestown.

I'm just embarrassed at the lack of support for the Republic party. I used to think we truly were a Grand Old Party. I don't see much of a future for the Republics.

How come all the people that post here claim that they have all the answer, yet they do not run for office themselves???
Right or wrong at least the canidates had the guts and the conviction to try
How come you don't???
Put up ..or shutup.

Alot of us younger voters have simply gone to school and learned that our parents, as much as we love them, just don't recognize what has become of their party. The party of limited government, social tolerance and fiscal responsibility has become the exact opposite. You would have to have your head buried in the sand floor of your cave for the last seven years to support the Republic party.

Go Obama

The Republic party has a disaster on their hands and they know it. It's the perfect political storm where the Democrats finally have several top-tiered and electable candidates and the Republics are hosting a clown audition.

Just watch how ugly the Republics are going to get. They never learn. America is finally embracing necessary change and are tired of the dirty Republic campaigning. But they won't change. They'll ensure a Democrat is in the White House for at least 8 years. Probably 12 or 16.

How come all the people that post here claim that they have all the answer, yet they do not run for office themselves???

I don't see all these people claiming they have the answers. Just critiques of existing lawmakers. Big difference.

That $10 TRILLION dollar deficit that Shrub will leave us in January 2009 has to be paid somehow ... since the Republican-controlled Congress was a "no tax and spend" entity from 2001 through 2006, cutting back on federal spending won't put a dent in it.
