President Bush, who will deliver his final State of the Union address tonight, will call on Congress to act swiftly in the face of an economic slowdown at home, hold to the military mission in Iraq and reauthorize domestic surveillance of suspected terrorists.

““As we meet tonight, our economy is undergoing a period of uncertainty,’’ the president plans to say. “And at kitchen tables across our country, there is concern about our economic future. In the long run, Americans can be confident about our economic growth.

:“To build a prosperous future, we must trust people with their own money and empower them to grow our economy,’’ Bush plans to say in an appearance before a joint session of Congress.

Bush also will address the war in Iraq and the prevention of terrorism at home, calling on Congress for reauthorization of legislation permitting surveillance of suspected terrorists.

“The actions of the 110th Congress will affect the security and prosperity of our nation long after this session has ended,’’ the president plans to say in his address to Congress at 9 pm EST – a speech expected to run about 40 minutes, and Bush’s last.

“In this election year,’’ Bush plans to say, “let us show our fellow Americans that we recognize our responsibilities and are determined to meet them. And let us show them that Republicans and Democrats can compete for votes and cooperate for results at the same time.’’

The White House, with a preview of the president’s remarks tonight, is highlighting the positive: “From expanding opportunity to protecting our country, we have made good progress. Yet we have unfinished business before us, and the American people expect us to get it done.

“In the work ahead, we must be guided by the philosophy that made our nation great,’’ Bush plans to say. “As Americans, we believe in the power of individuals to determine their destiny and shape the course of history…So in all we do, we must trust in the ability of free people to make wise decisions, and empower them to improve their lives and their futures.

“To build a future of energy security, we must trust in the creative genius of American researchers and entrepreneurs and empower them to pioneer a new generation of clean energy technology,’’ he will say. “Our security, our prosperity, and our environment all require reducing our dependence on oil.”

And Bush, who has failed to win either immigration reform or an overhaul of the Social Security system which he attempted during his second term, plans to say: “There are two other pressing challenges that I have raised repeatedly before this body, and that this body has failed to address: entitlement spending and immigration.

“Every Member in this chamber knows that spending on entitlement programs like Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid is growing faster than we can afford…Now I ask Members of Congress to offer your proposals and come up with a bipartisan solution to save these vital programs for our children and grandchildren.”

“Illegal immigration is complicated, but it can be resolved. And it must be resolved in a way that upholds both our laws and our highest ideals.”

On the “surge’’ in Iraq: “Our foreign policy is based on a clear premise: We trust that people, when given the chance, will choose a future of freedom and peace. In the last seven years, we have witnessed stirring moments in the history of liberty…And these images of liberty have inspired us. In the past 7 years, we have also seen images that have sobered us…[and] serve as a grim reminder: The advance of liberty is opposed by terrorists and extremists -- evil men who despise freedom, despise America, and aim to subject millions to their violent rule.

“The Iraqi people quickly realized that something dramatic had happened. Those who had worried that America was preparing to abandon them instead saw…our forces moving into neighborhoods, clearing out the terrorists, and staying behind to ensure the enemy did not return…While the enemy is still dangerous and more work remains, the American and Iraqi surges have achieved results few of us could have imagined just one year ago.

“Some may deny the surge is working, but among the terrorists there is no doubt,’’ Bush will say. “Al Qaeda is on the run in Iraq, and this enemy will be defeated.”

"BUSH SPEAKS"

WHO IS YO DADDY?
WHO IS YO BIG POPPY?
WHO IS SHOWED YOU PUSH PUSH IN THE BUSH?

LET'S ALL SING 965 WAYS TO DECEIVE YOUR COUNTRY.

NO, JUST KIDDING.

WHEN THE SUPREME COURT EXTENDED ME "THE COMMANDER GUY" TITLE. I HAVE LEAD WITHOUT ANY ACTIONABLE INTELLIGENCE. I HAVE LEAD THE AMERICAN PEOPLE NOT BY THE CONSTITUTION BUT BY MY OWN PERSONAL YALE WAR TIME ECONOMICS.

BUSH ECONOMICS 2001-02-03-04-05-06-07-08 OF "I DON'T RECALL, WE DON'T RECALL HOW I SPENT 2.0 TRILLION DOLLARS AND HAVE NOTHING TO SHOW FOR IT. ALTHOUGH, CONDI RICE AND I TOOK SOME NICE TRIPS.

HECK EXXON IS ALL UP IN ARMS THAT I HAVE TO GO SO, YA'LL TAKE CARE NOW HEAR!

BECAUSE THIS IS WHY THEY CALLED ME BIG POPPY, SO JUST THROW YO HANDS IN THE AIR AND WAVE THEM LIKE YOU KNOW I DON'T CARE!

HERE COMES THE JUDGE!

My assessments of this Republican clown's past State Of The Union "speechs":

2002: Wow, this man is truly delusional;

2003: I think he's lying more than he did last year;

2004: Who writes this crap, a fifth grader?

2005: Yay! stay the course..or something, I'm clapping with one arm behind my back;

2006: Why hasn't this idiot been impeached yet --this sucks.

2007: I forget, are we supposed to stay the course or cut taxes or leave no "childrens" behind?

2008: ???

With all the problems in the world, one thing gives me hope. This will be the last state of the union speech Bush will give. Am I a Bush basher? Damn straight. Worst president ever and the 26% share just as much in the harm they have done to America. When your grandchildren ask you about Bush and how bad he was for us, tell em straight up you were one of the sheep that supported this bafoon.

Is Al Qaeda on the run in Afghanistan? How about Pakistan? Who was responsible for blowing up 5 U.S. troops today? I guess it doesn't count if it's not in Baghdad.

And all this talk of individual "empowerment", Republican code for stacking the deck in favor of the wealthy and special-interest and leaving you to pay for it.

If this country is stupid enough to vote Republican again after what this sorry administration delivered us, then it deserves to go in the crapper.

Let's list Dubya's accomplishments as to how he received the State of the Union and how he leaves the State of the Union.
1. Received HUGE budget SURPLUS...leaves HUGE budget deficit our great-great grandchildren will be paying.
2. Received inflation rate 2.8...leaves inflation rate 4.1
3. Received military deaths ZERO...leaves military deaths 4000+
4. Received 3.9% unemployment rate...leaves 5% unemployment rate
5. Received 4.4% ofF mortgages in foreclosure
leaves 5.6% of mortgages in foreclosure AND CLIMBING!
6. Received gallon of gas $2.13...leaves gallon of gas $3.00
7. Enron, Halliburton, waterboarding, Abu Ghraib,
child health care vetoed, military health care in shambles, oil company profits skyrocketing.
There's more but my stomach can take just so much

Who wants Kool-Aid?

I have come to the conclusion that Bush meant well althought all of his programs or most of his programs fell short.

Having said that, I'm not sure why we keep giving people rebates. Sooner or later, we have to pay it with interests. The $800 buck will be $1,600 when Uncle Sam ask us to pay it back!

Plus the rebate does nothing to the economy. The end result is still the same: people dont' have good paying jobs to pay their bills.

Sadamn is gone .
We have a new judge who may interpet the Constitution as it was meant to be interpeted .
We did not roll over and play dead after 9/11.
Otherwise , bash away guys .Given the choice between Bush and Kerry , I would vote for Bush again .
