The Swamp

by Glenn Thrush

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- Citing Barack Obama's purchase of a CNN national ad airing in Florida, Hillary Clinton's aides are now saying they will "review all options" -- including breaking the DNC's ban on campaigning in the state's unauthorized Jan. 29 primary.(CORRECTION: The candidates voluntarily pledged not to campaign in the state. A ban wasn't imposed by the DNC)

"If they are trying to upend the playing field, it's our obligation to explore the playing field—all options are open," said Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.), one of Clinton's top Sunshine State surrogates. When asked if Obama's buy would prompt Clinton to campaign there in person or over the airwaves, spokesman Mo Eilethee also used the "all options are open" line.

All top-tier Democratic candidates pledged to avoid campaigning in Florida when the state moved up its primary before Feb. 5th in violation of the DNC's restrictions. The national party says it won't seat the state's delegates, although it's widely believed some compromise will be worked out during the August convention in Denver.

Obama's campaign chided Clinton earlier this month over a pair of fundraisers planned for the former first lady on Sunday.

Calls to Obama's camp haven't been returned yet.

Oh Boy....Here we go with more race debate crap.

Barack Obama is using double standards.

Poor chap.

Judicial Watch has just released new documents from the Clinton Library regarding HRC insurance committee that she chaired. Please educate yourself thoroughly on the Clinton's before voting for them. Yes, I said them, since Bill appears to be running too.

Obama broke another pledge?

Starting with his pledge--oft repeated--to serve out his full senate term (a pledge that lasted about 20 minutes), is there any pledge Obama HASN'T gone back on?

Can't we Dems do better than another Clinton? Bush-Clinton-Bush-Clinton? Do we need another dynasty? I say not. Obama is our future.

Nothing finer than sitting back and watching the democrat party implode....pass the popcorn jethro.

Paulo

Just another action taht shows Obama is a hypocrite. Say one thing and do another.

So what right does the DNC have to disenfranchise voters in Florida because of an arbitrary date that the DNC sets?

And I am a Democrat.

On a strictly pragmatic basis I believe Obama can win and help the Democratic Party in the process. He has coattails, Hillary does not. Darn few Dems want her on the podium with them whereas Obama is much sought after. Billy Boy "reformed" welfare...NOT a Dem Party issue!!! Let the Repugnants take the heat for harming poor people. ALL the Dems have to stop stressing Bush/Cheney and make people realize that all Republicans share the blame for the terrible things happening to our Nation. By the way, there are good reasons that Obama outpolls Hillary on the issue of Trust. Are we going to vote for someone we don't trust again??!!??

John McCormick explained it http://weblogs.baltimoresun.com/news/politics/blog/
It's impossible to buy an national ad without including Florida. So, the Obama campaign asked for permission and they received it. There's nothing to stop Clinton (remind me which one's running?) from doing the same. Hardly equivalent to Hillary Clinton's fundraisers there.

Can you please google this topic and you will see that the chair of the South Carolina DLC told their campaign before they aired the ad that this was in NO WAY breaking his earlier pledge. BTW, there is no way to remove a national ad from the air in one state and the Clinton campaign was already looking into venues for gatherings in Florida last week. Go to Bloomberg.com or any nother news outlet and read before you just take the Clinton's word for it. Remember, they are quite good at spinning lies! Or have we all got short term memory loss?

The Clinton people left her name on the MI ballot. Double standards, apparently, only apply to the other guys.

As a Democrat, Obama advocates for Republicans. What would he do if he became the president of the United States? - Advocates for Osma Bin Ladin, our enemy?

Obama spokesman Bill Burton responded in a statement that the two networks said it would be impossible to exclude Florida TV sets from a national ad. "For that reason we consulted with the South Carolina Democratic Party Chair Carol Fowler, who told us unequivocally she did not consider this to be in violation of pledge made to the early states," Burton said.

I guess it was too much work to actually do a little more research on this.

btw.. the Hillary Clinton campaign has got to be kidding chiding anyone else about breaking rules.

Hopefully, both candidates will stop splitting hairs and start to talk about things that are important like the economy. I want to make an informed decision regarding issues not on he said versus she said. The judicial watch comment is laughable Especially, all the dishonesty that has taken place during the Bush administration from destroying records, lying to congress, and firing lawyers with integrity from their own party. Some Republicans live in a world of double standards.

What's the old saying?
"I don't belong to an 'organized' political party. I'm a Democrat"
Seems more relevant these days.

Paulo,

Implode? Don't worry we'll take race and gender, ya'll take age (McCain) and religion (Romney)(I know, less fun.)

As far as Barack Obama bringing up Reagan's name, I think he was talking about the impact (not necessarily GOOD) that Reagan had on the U.S. ...(kind of like TIME"s "Man of the Year"). Does anyone REALLY BELIEVE that he was expressing ADMIRATION FOR HIM??? COME ON!!! Anyone who knows ANYTHING at all about Obama's work on behalf of the poor and downtrodden KNOWS that's not what he meant!!! Obama is fair and open-minded enough that he knows who REPUBLICANS admire and he was just ACKNOWLEDGING THAT!!! P.S.: You know how we talk about baseball players, etc. not being GOOD EXAMPLES for children? With all of this bickering ... they're watching and listening!!! Also, by the way Glenn Beck(who pretty much TELLS IT LIKE IT Is) is talking tonight, WHOEVER gets the job of president is gonna be running a Third World country!!!

The DNC should seriously consider Obama as the presidential candidate for the party. I was a long supporter of the Clintons and believe Hillary could do the job. But, what our country needs right now is a unifier, who can build relationships across party lines, without the baggage of the past, special interests groups, etc... Furthermore, I am shocked at the campaign of the Clintons. They are turning off voters.

Obama has brought so much positivity and a new generation of voters to the DNC that if he is not the nominee, we lose a large number of supporters. I also believe Obama has the BEST shot at beating a repub. I am encouraging people to express their desire for a change of direction in the DNC.

Let move forward and not take us back to an old era.

OBAMA '08!

I think that the Dems need to make sure we don't have status Quo for another 4 years...that's what Clinton means....just take a look at the way the they fight...it's the same old politics...it's time for a change in the White House...a REAL CHANGE.

Was anyone else concerned about the candidates talking about a 30% ceiling on credit card limits? How about 10% and stop pandering to these huge corporate interests that have taken advantage over all Americans. The resulting savings would be a nice start to helping the economy!

And what about the fact Hillary kept her name on the Michigan ballot? She gets me sick trying to make people believe she's goody twoshoes when she's really Linda Blair.

First Obama was crying about Unions speaking for the other canidates. Then in Nevada Obama allowed Unions to run racist ads. How can Obama claim he is not status quo and be a democrat. He should be a Independent.

Cable TV can Black Out ads and whole Sporting events. Obama is a Liar again.

After South Carolina the rest of the country will see how racist Obama is.

It's slowly but steadily becoming a pattern of the Obama campaign, say one thing, do another. And here we have them breaking their own promise not to campaign in Florida, but yet advertising there. How inconsistent! It also reminds me of him criticising Hillary's spouse Bill speaking up on her behalf while he too had his own spouse Michelle attacking Hillary. Its so characteric of Obama's hypocrisy.
