SOMEWHERE OVER GEORGIA -- While back in Arkansas for a morning stop, Sen. Hillary Clinton took time to visit with old friends and stop at old haunts, including Kitchen Express, a popular diner known for its peach cobbler and grits.

The campaign actually bought a tray of that cobbler, and Clinton spooned platefuls to the press corps and secret service agents on the flight to Atlanta, where she set to appear tonight at the National Baptist Convention and the state's Jefferson-Jackson dinner.

Server Clinton was all smiles as she made her way down the aisle of the campaign's Boeing 737-800. (Like Sen. Barack Obama, Clinton is now chartering a plane from ATA airlines.)

When Clinton got to this reporter, who dutifully held out his plate, Clinton said "Ah, the Chicago Tribune. I grew up reading that paper."

As questions for comment were not allowed, I did not get to ask when was the last time she picked herself up a Trib.

Oh, and the cobbler was excellent, mostly butter, sugar and peaches, which seemed fitting for our arrival in the Peach State.

Jason, do you think it's as funny as I do that Hillary can make small talk with you, but you're not allowed to make small talk with her?

I guess you can make comments, just not make small talk questions. How's that work out for you guys in the press corps?

Universal health care plans have now collapsed in Illinois, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and California due to high costs. But it will work when Hillary's president. Sure.

It's great to hear that our next President is a gracious host. She's a classy lady. Why do so many people miss that part of her? Perhaps you're just not willing to see it.

A classy lady would not have resorted to the Rovian tactics her campaign has embraced. She should first try being a more gracious candidate and human, then work on the hostess part. Unless, of course, the hostess part is all she is worthy of.

Did she use her "southern" voice? or did she use her "Baptist" voice? Or maybe her "African American" voice? They are all so entertaining to hear. Really drives home how pandering and phony she is. Thank goodness she won't win.

As a woman executive myself, men have no clue how much harder we have had to work to get to that level. Hillary is a real person with depth and experience. Serving peach cobbler to reporters is part of the multi tasking that we as women know how to do well! Let's hope America can be lucky enough to get her woman's touch to fix the mess we are in!

I don't get it. Rupert Murdoch's New York Post just endorsed Barack Obama! Hillary's hometown! And nothing from Swamp?

Barack's got Rupert backing him. Talk about bringing people together. Where's the spread?

Barack's got Rupert. That means he's probably got FOX. Heck, he might even get Bob Novak and William F. Buckley in his camp!

No thanks. I'll stick with Hillary.

Great comment Lauren!!

I am a woman myself and I agree with you wholeheartedly!!

I've been watching the election results, surveys and debates. Republicans don't care that McCain isn't the ideal conservative candidate. Conservatives voted for him anyway. A survey from Florida showed they voted for him because he's the most electable. Republicans want to win the White House, because they know that there's more at stake than just the oval office...supreme court appointments, attorney general...etc.

Clinton or Obama, IMO, would fair very well against McCain if either of them went toe to toe on the issues and their records. Unfortunately, this race is not about the issues, it's about power and the Republicans want it more than they want an ideal candidate. And are willing to do anything to get it...even elect a candidate who doesn’t fit in line with their ideals and policies. That's why so many Republican heavies are endorsing McCain over more conservative candidates.

If the democrats hope to win the general election against the full court press of the Republican party, Clinton and Obama need to put their petty squabbles aside and join forces.

If Clinton is the nominee there will be a large percentage of the democratic base who won't vote in the general election; end result - Republicans win.

If Obama is the nominee there will be a large percentage of democrats who either won't vote or will vote Republican; end result - Republicans win.

Obama and Clinton combining forces is the best opportunity for the Democrats to take back the White House. Otherwise we're going to have at least another four years of lies, lies and more lies.

wake up and smell the mysogyny in your comment comparing hilary to marie antoinette. shame on you.
