LAS VEGAS – Sen. Hillary Clinton won the Nevada caucuses Saturday, her second victory in as many weeks, as the Democratic nomination battle now moves to South Carolina and more than 20 states that will hold contests on Feb. 5.
In a colorful display of democracy, including voting in casinos and hotels along the Strip, the New York senator and former first lady was projected the winner by several television networks only about an hour after the Nevada caucuses convened.
The Nevada Democratic Party said more than 114,000 people (the totals are still being calculated) participated statewide in the precinct meetings.
With 87 percent of precincts reporting, Clinton had about 51 percent of the support of Democrats, compared to 45 percent for Sen. Barack Obama. Former North Carolina Sen. John Edwards, once expected to do well among Nevada's union members, looked to receive less than 4 percent.
It was Clinton's second win in as many weeks, following her surprise victory in the New Hampshire primary on Jan. 8. Obama won the Iowa caucuses as the nomination contests kicked off in early January.
The Illinois Democrat had received a significant boost just 10 days before the caucuses when the 60,000-member Culinary Workers Union of Nevada endorsed him and offered free help on the ground.
On Thursday, a federal judge ruled that nine caucus locations in casinos or hotels on or near the Strip, sites thought to favor Obama, should stay open as originally planned.
But even at those locations, Clinton managed to generally stay even with Obama.
At the Wynn Las Vegas casino, for example, Clinton won support from 189, compared to 187 for Obama.
Obama won the at-large precinct at the Luxor Hotel, gathering the backing of 211, compared to 162 for Clinton.
In a ballroom at the hotel, nearly 400 people – primarily African Americans and Latinos -- gathered to pick their presidential favorites. Throughout, instructions were read in English and Spanish.
Clinton's victory was partly attributable to her continued strong showing among women. That was important because about six in 10 Democrats who caucused were women, according to exit polls conducted by The Associated Press and the television networks.
Obama had edged out Clinton among women in Iowa, but she won them over again in New Hampshire.
The exit polls showed Clinton also did well among white voters, while Obama won support from roughly four-fifths of the black voters.
As the caucus meetings were held in the casinos and hotels, tourists and gamblers went about their normal business mostly oblivious that the voting was even taking place.
The fact that Nevada imported many experienced hands from Iowa to help run the caucuses was obvious.
Not only did Jean Hessburg, a former executive director of the Iowa Democratic Party, oversee the caucuses for the party here, other faces from Iowa were here as well.
Matt Paul, a veteran of Iowa caucuses campaigning and a former spokesman for Iowa Gov. Tom Vilsack, ran the caucus meeting at the Luxor.
Paul told caucus participants that it would cost the Democratic Party in Nevada $2 million to run the caucuses, so he asked from contributions from those gathered.
When it came time to gather by presidential preference groups, Palm told supporters for Obama and Clinton to stand by two different palm trees in the room. "I believe that is the first time I have ever said caucus and palm tree in the same sentence," he said.
Edwards was not viable at the Luxor, nor were those who were uncommitted, so Obama and Clinton supporters lobbied them with cheers and other encouragement.

Thank you Nevada. Hopefully this is the beginning of the end for the con man Obama and his race games.

I knew a moment after

No Monarachies in the US!!! Bush or Clinton? Why?

I'm saddened by some of these comments. It seems we'll never elect anybody that's different from the "same 'ol, same'ol" and that can help us present an acceptable face to the rest of the world.

Oh good, the uneducated and low end majority of yet another state puts Hillary out front! Not as many intellects in Nevada for Obama to win.
This is going to get interesting.

The real fraud is one step closer to flushing our country down the toilet.

Congratulations to Nevada!! The best woman won!! I've noticed that the "swamp" here is dominated by right-wing Republicans and Obama shills spewing hateful, irrational venom. So it's nice to see the level of rhetoric today is more civilized. Did any of you Obama supporters see the headline of tomorrow's Sun-Times?

Congrats to Hillary!
My personal favorite is Senator Obama but I'll gladly take any of the top three Dem candidates (Clinton, Obama, Edwards) over any of the pond scum of candidates that the Republic Party is offering.

It's not over Mr. Obama. You are the best man for the job! Keep up the good work. We need you to bring about UNITY in the USA. Thank you!

Let's see... IA + SC = 111 delegates, NH + NV + MI + FL = 60 delegates....
If Obama wins SC by 9 or 10 points, he'll have two big wins to two HRC's small wins, and he'll be leading in pledged primary state delegates by 10%-15% going into super tuesday. Anyone else notice the superdelegates are falling in line for Obama now?
Also, the Las Vegas strip workers may not have time to think about how the Clintons tried to take their vote away, but by the time the California press gets ahold of this, the working people might not be so fooled.

Did she win or did she steal it? I find it hard to believe that people are that dumb to fall for her lies, games, manipulation, fraud and outright corruption.
Of course, my fellow Americans voted for Bush because his dad was once president. They could easily vote for Hillary just because her husband was president. Doesn't anyone see how messed up that logic is?
It looks like four more years of Bush. After all, that's all Hillary is. She is the same as Bush.

Oprahma has been running for president for 4 years now -- arguably very much longer. He officially declared well over a year ago. And yet in all that time has not developed a coherent platform. He has not given America even one valid reason to vote for him. Or Nevada, it seems.

BILL CLINTON IS "GOLLUM"
HERE'S A MEANINGFUL, METAPHORICAL AND RELEVANT RANT FROM AN INTELLIGENT INDEPENDENT WHO IS OUTRAGED THAT TOO MANY DEMOCRATS ARE CAVING IN YET AGAIN TO THE POWER-HUNGRY CLINTON MONEY MACHINE
BILL CLINTON IS GOLLUM !!!!!
BILL "GOLLUM" CLINTON IS CONSUMED BY "HIS PRECIOUS" AND WILL STOP AT NOTHING TO REGAIN "HIS PRECIOUS" - THE WHITE HOUSE
HE LOVES THE POWER OF "HIS PRECIOUS" MORE THAN HIS COUNTRY (HE ALWAYS HAS)
OBAMA IS A BETTER MAN THAN BILL
SOME OF THE REPUBLICAN CANDIDATES ARE BETTER MEN THAN BILL
A VOTE FOR HILLARY IS NOT A VOTE FOR THAT PHONY FEMALE - A WOMAN SO SHALLOW, SHE IS RUNNING ENTIRELY ON HER HUSBAND'S MIXED BAG OF CREDENTIALS AS HER ONLY CLAIM TO ANY FORM OF "EXPERIENCE" - IT IS A VOTE FOR HER HUSBAND, BILL "GOLLUM" CLINTON (EXACTLY THE SAME AS WHEN GEORGE C. WALLACE HAD HIS WIFE ELECTED GOVERNOR OF ALABAMA - YOUNG VOTERS LOOK IT UP - IT HAPPENDED BEFORE AND IT IS HAPPENING AGAIN - IT IS CIRCUMVENTION OF A CONSTITUTION TO INSTALL A SURROGATE - IF YOU DO NOT BELIEVE IT, JUST LOOK AT THE PHOTOS OF BILL/GOLLUM CAMPAIGNING IN NEVADA TO GET "HIS PRECIOUS" BACK)
A VOTE FOR HILLARY IS A VOTE FOR DIVISIVENESS
A VOTE FOR HILLARY IS A VOTE FOR CORRUPTION
A VOTE FOR HILLARY IS A VOTE FOR THE POLITICS OF THE PAST
A VOTE FOR HILLARY IS A VOTE FOR INTOLERANCE
A VOTE FOR HILLARY IS A VOTE FOR EXTENDING THE BUSH CLINTON ERA
A VOTE FOR HILLARY IS A VOTE FOR NAFTA
A VOTE FOR HILLARY IS A VOTE FOR MEGA CORPORATIONS/DRUG COMPANIES AND INSURANCE COMPANIES
A VOTE FOR HILLARY IS A VOTE AGAINST ANY CAMPAIGN FINANCE REFORM HAPPENING - EVER
A VOTE FOR HILLARY IS A VOTE FOR THE CHINESE GOVERNMENT
A VOTE FOR HILLARY IS A VOTE FOR PERJURY AND A MOCKERY OF TRUTH
A VOTE FOR HILLARY IS A VOTE FOR THIS WAR
AND A VOTE FOR HILLARY IS A VOTE FOR GETTING HER HUSBAND, GOLLUM HIS POWER BACK - TO GET GOLLUM "HIS PRECIOUS" BACK
A VERY SLIGHT MAJORITY OF NEVADA DEMOCRATS VOTED FOR THE WRETCHEDNESS OF GOLLUM TODAY
A SMALL MAJORITY OF NEVADA DEMOCRATS VOTED FOR THE POLITICS OF THE PAST, THE POLITICS OF LIES, THE POLITICS OF DIVISIVENESS, THE POLITICS OF SKROOOOOOOING THE MIDDLE CLASS, THE POLITICS OF GRIDLOCK
REMEMBER BILL (GOLLUM) NEVER GOT 50% OF AMERICANS TO VOTE FOR HIM -- NEVER, EVER
IF HE SOMEHOW MANAGES TO GET HIS SURROGATE ELECTED FOR HIM, IT WILL AUTOMATICALLY SUBJUGATE THE COUNTRY TO YEARS AND YEARS OF CONTINUED DIVISIVENESS
AND NOW GOLLUM'S MONEY GRABBING PROSTITUTE OF A CAMPAIGN MACHINE TARGETS ELECTING HIS WIFE TO SERVE AS A SURROGATE FOR GOLLUM TO RETURN TO POWER
HOW DARE GOLLUM CALL HIMSELF THE FIRST "BLACK" PRESIDENT
BILL "GOLLUM" CLINTON ISN'T HALF OF THE MAN AS OBAMA (OR EVEN HALF THE MAN COLIN POWELL IS, FOR THAT MATTER)
WHEN OBAMA DID DRUGS, HE WAS MAN ENOUGH TO ADMIT IT
WHEN OBAMA SAID HIS VOWS TO HIS WIFE, HE MEANT THEM LIKE A REAL MAN
AND HILLARY ISN'T EVEN HALF THE WOMAN CONDALEEZA IS
BUT THAT TRUTH DOESN'T KEEP HILLARY FROM PANDERING FOR BLACK VOTES AND HOLDING HER HUBBY GOLLUM UP AS A "BLACK PRESIDENT" - L.O.L.
HOW PHONY CAN YOU GET ???
SHOULD WE GIVE GOLLUM BACK "HIS PRECIOUS" ??
I THINK NOT
HOW UNWISE WOULD IT BE FOR THE BUSH/CLINTON/NAFTA/ENRON ERA TO CONTINUE ???
CHECK OUT BILL "GOLLUM" CLINTON ON YOUTUBE
WITH HIS SCREECHING FACE, HE EVEN LOOKS LIKE "GOLLUM"
MY HEARTFELT MESSAGE IS SIMPLE ....
DON'T VOTE FOR GOLLUM
ANYONE BUT GOLLUM

Ha ha all of you woman-haters, "intellects", and youngsters who are son infatuated by the pied piper Obama; the BETTER candidate won AGAIN!! Get used to it. Next up are the Repubs.
And for all of you Dems who refuse to vote for Senator Hillary Clinton when she takes on Rudy or McCain or whoever, I say good riddance! We don't need you.
Hillary is about to restore the Clinton years and prosperity for all!

Jim John E Shotrz Venom,
Oprahma did in fact play the race card, when he attacked HC for noting LBJ's critical role in the Civil rights movement. And it may well have blown up in his face. Remember, his is supposedly a new approach to politics?... NOT!
There's no "hatred" in pointing that out.
By the way, how many alternate post names do you fave now? It must be at least 30!

Are you people really that ignorant? Everything you are saying about Hillary is a fairy tale. She and Bill also did drugs. They also perjured themselves. They gave us the worst stock market crash in our nations history. The other day when Hillary was blasting CitiBank, she forgot to mention that the guy in charge of Citigroup was also Bill's economic guy. That's right, Robert Rubin. Fraud after fraud occured in the Clinton whitehouse. Hillary bemoaned that she would never bake cookies, yet plays the gender card by faking tears. She did in fact expose what a bigot she and Bill really are. They basically abandoned the black vote in Nevada to court the latinos. All the lies, fraud and corruption.....How about that court case they did in Nevada to disenfranchise voters...etc..etc...
HILLARY IS PATHETIC!!!!
I will vote for anyone who runs against Hillary. I can only hope that she is not on the ticket so I can vote for Obama....
If you want four more years of Bush vote for Hillary, she's just Bush in drag.

CNN notes that the Democrat race war continues:
"Black voters made up 16 percent of Democratic Nevada caucus-goers — and roughly 80 percent of them voted for Obama, according to entrance polls. Clinton won support from 16 percent of black voters."

It is a terriffic that the democrats fielded men,a women, a black, whites, and a Latino to run for the nomination for the highest office in the world. I personally like Hillary for her obvious intelligence and her toughness. I think she is ready and able to lead America. I know that many people think and say that she is running on her husband's record. Don't forget that record was pretty good. The nation had no National Debt when he left office, and I believe has that same kind of toughness AND ability to comprimise. She is not so far to the left or so far to the right that she cannot see other points of view. The other candidates are credible and not to be dismissed or even unliked. I just believe that Hillary is here at the right time. I hope that she does well. I think that a woman's perspective might be a good change for this country.

If Al Gore lost because of Bill, do you REALLY THINK that Hillary has a chance in November????? Wake up. Dems like me WILL BE VOTING Republican in November if she wins. There is no justification for 4 more years of a Clinton or Bush leadership mission. Enough is enough.
Posted by: Karl | January 19, 2008 6:52 PM
It really doesn't matter who wins the presidency because Nothing's going to change? Why? ..Because the president is merely a "puppet" to the lobbyists and the most powerful entity in the world...the Multi-national Corporation (Oil, gas, finance). It is they, not the president, who controls the country..and the rest of the world. The average U.S. citizen is nothing but a "slave" (esp. after the national I.D. card comes out). If you think Hillary, Obama, Romney or any other "Joe" will make any difference, then you're just fooling yourself.

Thank You Nevada!!!!
Once again the rest of the world will not buy the Music Man's silver tongue. What has he done to be worthy of being President of the most powerful nation in the world. OH YEAH HE HELPED SO KID ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF CHICAGO! Maybe he helped some old lady cross the street! He who thinks Ronald Reagan was a great President.

After reading the above democratic comments about Hillary's decisive win over B. Hussein Obama, the vast majority of posters have no confidence in either one.
This is what happens when two candidates with [razor thin] political records expound with populist platitudes of change and hope.
Like...Where's the beef?

hillary supporter, howard cohen (above) shows us another very good example of just how little intellect that is exhibited by hillary supporters -- this slight majority of democratic voters in nevada (and elsewhere) demostrates disrespect and disregard to any and ALL significant issues whenever they choose to vote for the bill and hillary money machine (actually in new hampshire, those who voted for gollum and hillary fell far short of a true majority)
here -- take a look;
howard c. wrote,
"the democrats fielded men,a women, a black, whites, and a Latino to run for the nomination for the highest office in the world. I personally like Hillary for her obvious intelligence and her toughness. I think she is ready and able to lead America. I know that many people think and say that she is running on her husband's record. Don't forget that record was pretty good. The nation had no National Debt when he left office, and I believe has that same kind of toughness AND ability to comprimise"
first of all, hillary is definitely running on her hubbie's record - SHE is making that a major campaign issue because she has no resume of her own and makes her vicarious experience with bill (gollum) clinton as her MAIN claim of experience- this is highly reminiscent of George C. Wallace having his wife become the first female Governor in U.S. history as a surrogate to circumvent the constitution that applied to that Alabama election - look how hard bill/gollum clinton is campaigning in public and how he demands and gets any and every role he wants to in "hillary's" campaign (and he obviously will get whatever role he wants in her administration if such a divisive administration does manage to actually get back in power with the record setting amount of money they plan to spend in order to get there)
but mr. cohen would have us believe that such a surrogate, divisive administration might be OK because bill achieved "no National Debt" - WRONG YOU HILLARY AND GOLLUM CHEELEADER - BILL/GOLLUM LEFT US WITH A LARGER NATIONAL DEBT THAN WHEN HE CAME INTO POWER - THE REPUBLICAN CONGRESS WAS ABLE TO ACHIEVE A BUDGET SURPLUS DURING BILL'S TIME IN OFFICE - AFTER THEY WERE PLACED IN MAJORITY IN 1994 FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 40 YEARS AFTER THE DEMOCRATS WHO CONTROLLED SPENDING DURING THOSE 40 YEARS COULDN'T PRODUCE ONE SINGLE BUDGET SURPLUS (YES, OUR CONSTITUTION DOES PLACE SPENDING UNDER CONTROL OF THE CONGRESS - NOT THE PRESIDENT) - FIRST OF ALL, THERE IS A HUGE DIFFERENCE IN THE "NATIONAL DEBT" AND A BUDGET SURPLUS FOR ONE FISCAL YEAR - SECONDLY YOU GIVE CREDIT TO THE WRONG PERSON AND THIRDLY YOU FAIL TO NOTICE AT ALL THAT BILL 'GOLLUM" CLINTON WAS OUT ATTACKING BILL GATES, RANDY WEAVER, BILLY DALE, KATHLEEN WILLEY, KEN STARR, THE BRANCH DAVIDIANS, WEN HO LEE, MEDICAL UNIVERSITIES, RICHARD JEWELL, CHRISTIAN CONSERVATIVES, AND DOZENS OF POLITICALLY CORRECT AND POLITICALLY IMPORTANT TARGETS WHEN HE SHOULD HAVE BEEN TAKING ON OSAMA BIN LADEN AND ENRON - HE RAILROADED NAFTA THROUGH AND TOOK RECORD AMOUNTS OF MONEY FROM THE CHINESE WHILE HE ALLOWED OUR NUCLEAR SECRETS GIFTED TO THEM AND ALSO DID ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ABOUT ILLEGAL IMMIGATION - THAT IS HARDLY A DECENT RECORD -
THERE WAS NO CAMELOT IN THE 90'S - THERE WERE ONLY LIES AND THE FOOLS WHO STILL BELIEVE THEM - AND THAT ADNMINISTRATION WAS BEREFT OF HONOR
BUSH ISN'T RUNNING IN 2008
THE ONLY WAY TO VOTE FOR MORE BUSH/CLINTON IS TO VOTE FOR HILLARY
THE MOST DIVISIVE CHARACTER OF ANY OF THE PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES IS HILLARY BY FAR - EVEN IF SHE IS ABLE TO OVERCOME THOSE WHO DISLIKE WHAT SHE AND BILL/GOLLUM HAVE ALREADY DONE (SUCH AS NAFTA), THE BEST THAT HILLARY HAS TO OFFER OUR COUNTRY IS YEARS AND YEAR OF MORE AND MORE DIVISIVENESS
WITH REGARD TO DIVERSITY - mr. cohen ignores diversity of thought, age, ethnic background, military experience, business credentials and religion as are seen in the other parties - he only sees color and sex as outward clues of his brand of politically correct "diversity" !!
as far as howard c.'s mention of hillary's "toughness", I would point out her tears in new hampshire
and as far as her ability to "comprimise", look how she is treating Obama
hhhhhhmmmmmmmmmm .......
hillary is not the smart choice
voting for hillary is purely voting for gridlock on ALL major issues, a nauseating level of revisionism, outlandishly funded political campaigns, and lots of her mircophone-grubbing, arrogant, skirt-chasing hubby - that "gollum" who seeks to get "his precious" back
i do agree with hillary supporters that she is smart - but so what ??? saddam hussein was smart - arafat was smart - so is osama bin laden (who outsmarted her hubby) - are all of her political competitors are smart - they are all smart - enemies in politics and america's enemies - HILLARY'S PROBLEM IS SHE THINKS HER POLITICAL ENEMIES ARE A GREATER THREAT TO HER THAN THE THREATS THAT OUR COUNTRY FACE AS A WHOLE ARE TO AMERICA AS A COUNTRY
she has no true principles except for wanting to win and get her and gollum back in power

Apparently when you support Clinton the only thing the UNITERS
come up with is deflect criticism of Obama back at Hillary, insist you favor monarchy, should be voting for something just because it is a shiny new toy, must be undeducated and the low end majority, didn't have time to think, insist Hillary stole it, her husband was president, must have a hood on, threaten to vote republican (thanks for holding your vote over our head like we care- your vote is your vote and my vote is my vote), and then there is little tom tommy the independent who has just backed up his post with a lot of "first of all she's running on her husbands record" to disprove a clear thoughtful opinion post that didn't hide "Hillary is running on his record."
Some prefer Obama I prefer Hillary, but I will be happy with one or the other.

Hillary Clinton "won" Nevada Caucuses to get 13 additional delegates while Barack Obama "lost" and only got 12 additional delegates. Both currently have 37 delegates so far in a race to get 2,025, which is the magic number of delegates necessary to win the Democratic nomination.
The real question now, it seems to me, is: Will voters will become familiar enough with Barack Obama and tired of the Clintons soon enough for him to win the Democratic nomination for President?
More voters need to appreciate his background.
In his books Barack Obama has told the story of the family into which he was born, about a father from Kenya whom he barely knew and about his young American mother who along with his father were college students in Hawaii.
By age 6 young Barack was already living in Jakarta with his mother and his Indonesian step father before abruptly moving back to Hawaii at age 10 to be raised by his maternal grandparents when his mother and her second husband divorced.
Over the years Barack Obama had bonding experiences with white and black relatives and with Asian family members amidst an understandable struggle to find his own identity. Through it all he developed a keen ability to understand and to resonate with people of various ethnic backgrounds.
Barack Obama worked his way through the racial complexities into which he was born to graduate Magna Cum Laude from Harvard Law School and become president of the Harvard Law Review. He served in the Illinois State Senate for 8 years and in 2004 won a 70 % landslide election to become a United States Senator. Barack Obama has had 46 years of personal experience in understanding how perceptions of ethnicity and judgments about race can divide people and he is uniquely qualified to bring a sense of unity and common purpose to all Americans.
In 1963 (when Obama was just 2 years old) on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C. Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his famous "I have a dream" speech that included the familiar phrase of "not being judged by the color of one's skin but by the content of one's character." That speech, of course, helped prompt passage of the 1964 US Civil rights Act and the next year, King was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. If the people of America elect Barack Obama to be their 44th President in November of this year King's dream will have become much more than just a dream.
Is Barack Obama's war position inconsistent?
Senator Barack Obama, then an Illinois state senator, delivered these remarks October 2, 2002 at the Federal Plaza in Chicago:
"I stand before you as someone who is not opposed to war in all circumstances. The Civil War was one of the bloodiest in history, and yet it was only through the crucible of the sword, the sacrifice of multitudes, that we could begin to perfect this union and drive the scourge of slavery from our soil.
I Don't Oppose All Wars
I don't oppose all wars. My grandfather signed up for a war the day after Pearl Harbor was bombed, fought in Patton's army.
He fought in the name of a larger freedom, part of that arsenal of democracy that triumphed over evil.
I don't oppose all wars. After September 11, after witnessing the carnage and destruction, the dust and the tears, I supported this administration's pledge to hunt down and root out those who would slaughter innocents in the name of intolerance, and I would willingly take up arms myself to prevent such tragedy from happening again.
Opposed to Dumb, Rash Wars
I don't oppose all wars. What I am opposed to is a dumb war. What I am opposed to is a rash war. What I am opposed to is the cynical attempt by Richard Perle and Paul Wolfowitz and other armchair, weekend warriors in this administration to shove their own ideological agendas down our throats, irrespective of the costs in lives lost and in hardships borne.
What I am opposed to is the attempt by political hacks like Karl Rove to distract us from a rise in the uninsured, a rise in the poverty rate, a drop in the median income, to distract us from corporate scandals and a stock market that has just gone through the worst month since the Great Depression.
That's what I'm opposed to. A dumb war. A rash war. A war based not on reason but on passion, not on principle but on politics.
On Saddam Hussein
Now let me be clear: I suffer no illusions about Saddam Hussein. He is a brutal man. A ruthless man. A man who butchers his own people to secure his own power…. The world, and the Iraqi people, would be better off without him.
But I also know that Saddam poses no imminent and direct threat to the United States, or to his neighbors…and that in concert with the international community he can be contained until, in the way of all petty dictators, he falls away into the dustbin of history.
I know that even a successful war against Iraq will require a U.S. occupation of undetermined length, at undetermined cost, with undetermined consequences.
I know that an invasion of Iraq without a clear rationale and without strong international support will only fan the flames of the Middle East, and encourage the worst, rather than best, impulses of the Arab world, and strengthen the recruitment arm of al-Qaeda.
I am not opposed to all wars. I'm opposed to dumb wars. So for those of us who seek a more just and secure world for our children, let us send a clear message to the president.
You Want a Fight, President Bush?
You want a fight, President Bush? Let's finish the fight with Bin Laden and al-Qaeda, through effective, coordinated intelligence, and a shutting down of the financial networks that support terrorism, and a homeland security program that involves more than color-coded warnings.
You want a fight, President Bush?
Let's fight to make sure that…we vigorously enforce a nonproliferation treaty, and that former enemies and current allies like Russia safeguard and ultimately eliminate their stores of nuclear material, and that nations like Pakistan and India never use the terrible weapons already in their possession, and that the arms merchants in our own country stop feeding the countless wars that rage across the globe.
You want a fight, President Bush? Let's fight to make sure our so-called allies in the Middle East, the Saudis and the Egyptians, stop oppressing their own people, and suppressing dissent, and tolerating corruption and inequality, and mismanaging their economies so that their youth grow up without education, without prospects, without hope, the ready recruits of terrorist cells.
You want a fight, President Bush? Let's fight to wean ourselves off Middle East oil through an energy policy that doesn't simply serve the interests of Exxon and Mobil.
Those are the battles that we need to fight. Those are the battles that we willingly join. The battles against ignorance and intolerance. Corruption and greed. Poverty and despair."
Barack Obama delivered his powerful speech at the Federal Plaza in Chicago October 2, 2002 against the US beginning war in Iraq while later that same month Hillary Clinton voted for the authorization to begin US military action in Iraq. Once US troops were actually in Iraq and fighting a war, of course, it would be irresponsible for Obama to be against funding the troops. The key is that Barack Obama had the judgment to see the dumbness of the war in October 2002 and clearly said so. Hillary Clinton did not and voted to start it.
Bill and Hillary Clinton's tactic of trying to paint Obama's war position as "a fairy tale" or as "inconsistent" is merely "Clinton politics" and clearly demonstrates why America badly needs the enormous breath of fresh air Barack Obama provides. At one time Senator Kerry from Nebraska referred to the Clinton's as "clever liars" several years before President Bill Clinton told America: "I did not have sex with that woman!" or as Jay Leno quipped, "I didn't have sex with her, she had it with me!" Goodbye Bill and Hillary Clinton. Hello Barack Obama.

Did any of you Obama supporters see the headline of tomorrow's Sun-Times?
Posted by: Louis | January 19, 2008 5:04
I think it should read Obama 13 Clinton 12. Delegates in Nevada that is. Congrats to Hillary though on winning the headline. I like her. I just happen to think Obama would do more to restore Americas image around the world. Then again if they foreigners read Paulo's comments, they'll think we all smoke pole. Retard!!!

not so quick, ino
mr. cohen said, "many people think and say that she is running on her husband's record" -- he says this AS IF some outsiders might be creating an unfair picture - I decided to simply point out that it is Hillary HERSELF that is going way out of her way to make "her" own campaign ALL about bill's record ............
then I go on to point out what cheerleaders for hillary and gollum do not want to admit - gollum clinton's record IS tainted !!!
in the 90's, a lot of bad things happened on bill/gollum's watch and on the other hand, bill/gollum clinton takes credit for some of the good things that did happen for which he never deserved the credit
I do feel bad about picking on mr. cohen considering the fact I could have chosen ANY hillary supporter to point out their lack of reasoning in supporting her
the divisiveness alone is a good enough reason by itself to vote for anyone but hillary
the campaign finance issue is a good enough reason alone to vote for anyone but hillary
the inevitable gridlock (NO PROGRESS ON ANY MAJOR ISSUE) that will clearly occur if hillary/gollum is elected is an excellent reason to vote for anyone but hillary/gollum - even if I was wrong about everything else I have ever said bad about the clintons, any ONE of these three reasons would be good enough to NEVER vote for her (or gollum) -- and furthermore, all three of these reasons not to vote for Hillary are IRREFUTABLE
and who wants gollum clinton to get his "precious" microphone back, anyway ???? you have to be a party loyalist and/or demented to want that
it's fun to be an independent - you should try it - then you get to look at all of the candidates - fairly
I could live with obama as president but not gollum/hillary
the shame is the clintons are so all about money and power that they intend to make sure that the most legitimate black candidate of all time NEVER gets the chance to be nominated (bill/gollum wants to be the one and only "black" president in history)
the shame is also that ALL hillary supporters have serious blinders on
too bad these hillary supporters may just well see fit to make sure we have one less choice for president in november

After reading the above democratic comments about Hillary's decisive win over B. Hussein Obama, the vast majority of posters have no confidence in either one.
This is what happens when two candidates with [razor thin] political records expound with populist platitudes of change and hope.
Like...Where's the beef?

tom tommy tommy the little independent-
So you read your bias into his post. He could have been stating opinion, or he could have been stating fact and observation in the same manner(it could have been a way to address all the posts before him who noted that but not want to address anyone in particular- only a sentiment noted). "Many people say"- would be followed by something to disprove it like "I'd don't think it is accurate". Not by- "Don't forget it was a good record." In order to say the later "good record" you have acknowledge the existence of the former "on his record".

Tribune, please get the TRUE headline up tomorrow which is that OBAMA WON Nevada. He has more delegates. Remember what happened in 2000. Gore didn't win with the popular vote. Bush won with the delegate votes. We got it right in 2000. Can we PLEASE get it right tomorrow!

Congratulations Democrats, Hillary especially.
Nancy, intellectual elitism will win few over to your Senator Obama. Please get over this myth that Obama holds the monopoly on "smart" supporters. He's already on the road to marginalizing his campaign along racial lines. With comments like yours he's also headed toward marginalization among classes.

Oh, and Swamp please do print the delegate count for all of those who are whining that Barack has won more delegates. I think they'll be somewhat surprised to note that Hillary is ahead when superdelegates are counted. Hillary now has a total delegate count of 210 to Obama's 123.

I was in NV. The DNC should look into what went on today. It was a chaotic scene. Remember all who post here...we are one America. Just reading the comments I am truly fearful of what a "divider, decider" would do in office..."A nation divided against itself cannot stand" Lincoln, 1852. Even the best ideas can't be carried out without a bipartisan effort. Let's leave the political bickering in the past and get a new start. If you really want to do something for this country watch your words, shut off shut off the computer for a few hours, get out there and become part of the democratic process...and remember that the integrity of the vote is far more important than any outcome. Believe that...democracy rests on that premise.

Hillary does not play fair; the votes need to be monitored closely. How could Zogby, as the best pollster in the U.S., have been off by 13 points in the New Hampshire primary?
As a woman I am embarrassed that Hill says men are picking on her and relies on Bill implicitly even when he is lashing out and making enemies left and right.
If Hill is for change, then she needs to change tactics and get Bill out of the campaign post haste.
Hill was fooled by Bush on the weapons of mass destruction and by Bill with his secret liaisons in the Oval Office.

Labor Unions that shouldn't exist (Culinary and Teachers) decide the NEV caucus for the DEMs. Culinary Union makes LV less competitive vs. Macau and Teacher's Union have been ruining education, ie. 'protect the gov't worker, not the student'. The DEM party makes me sick with it's hand-out, gov't worker, corrupt union base exhibited today. Glad I'm self-reliant, self-employed, Christian, a vet, and yep you guessed it, a Repub.

Hillary DID NOT WIN NEVADA! OBAMA won the MOST delegates! 13-12! That's what counts!

How do you receive less delegates than your opponent and still consider it a victory?.

Common Sense,
Care to support your contentions with some facts?

Clinton secured 50.7 percent of the delegates for the next step in the process leading to the Democratic state convention on April 19 - which is the measure by which Nevada Democrats calculated the outcome of Saturday's caucuses - to 45.2 percent for Obama.
Who among the Democrats truly won the state of Nevada?

Hurrah for Obama! He listens to you and we listened to him. He does not try to be anyone other than himself, which is a proud American who happens to be very intelligent.
The Village cries tears to tell you she is the chosen one and her husband was the real black and first president. Seems that the Village is using race to promote themselves but a real American (Obama) who they have tried to use is his own man and all of the Village's false charisma and bait will fail (sure hope so). Here's to Obama all the way. Out with the old and in with the new and fresh faces without all of the sordid baggage. As an independent, I will choose Giuliani or Obama.
Goodbye to "the standby your man and he will promote you but hopes that it will not wreck his already creepy image and legacy although she will be obligated to many out there except those she has used. Here's to the winner. Remarkable Americans and remarkable citizens have one thing in common; they're human and want the best for America. Think with mind and not emotion. VOTE!

KIRTSTIN!
So Clinton WON THE POPULAR VOTE and lost the election -- JUST LIKE Bush v. Gore in 2000 -- and you think that's GREAT! Got it!
That speaks volumes about the Oba-Robots.
I LOVE ALL CAPS AND EXCLAMATION MARKS!!!

Wow! I'd guess commons sense would be a factor along with fact...
appears however that libs like being contentious to anything without solutions but just blaming....now that's pathetic. And, then libs get real tearful and nervous when someone speaks his/her mind...and then just calls them names...(tears are a form of aggression and self pity)...yep. Never do I mind being an Independent...matter of fact, love it. My vote is my own; my brain too and can't be slam damned nor influenced by stupidity. Got to vote American and get what is best for Americans; you know, "for the best interest of the child" because that's where it's at, folk. Family in not insitutionalized Hillarism and being kept down on the farm. Here's to Obama or Giuliani! Ohh yeah. We sure do need common sense.
And Bush is great! Media is fine; am using it now matter of fact, but very liberal...and unfairly reports...for Obama won over Hillary!!! Cheers! Right on. Never let the pressure of Hillarism overtake you at any time...no thank you. It is time for change for the Democrats and that is to endorse Obama and not Miz Rodham. Let your common sense reign. And study the facts. And what change can mean and what changes will be made and what it stands for. Get facts straight and go for it.

The Democratic Party needs to be real careful. I haven't heard this much venom being spewed since the days when Senators Eastland and Stennis were the party leaders.

voting for chillary is actually a vote for her husband - same as in alabama when george c. wallace got his wife elected to circumvent that constitution -
voting for chillary is a vote for a WHITE MAN -- Gollum Division Clinton (the candidate formerly known as william jefferson clinton)
- GOLLUM DIVISION CLINTON'S PLATFORM IS SIMPLE - "GIVE ME BACK MY PRECIOUS, SO I CAN SPLIT APART YOUR COUNTRY SOME MORE - MY PRECIOUS, MY PRECIOUS !!!"
