Hillary Clinton likes to walk the razor’s edge. Last week, the vultures were circling her presidential bid. This week she’s nailed a coffin.
That’s Bob Coffin.
As campaigns go, there could be better omens. However, Coffin apparently is not a hooded, scythe-wielding figure of Death Personified, but the senior Democrat in the Nevada Senate. (And whose hobbies include antiquarian books and short-wave radio.) He endorsed Clinton for president today, as the New York senator swung through the state. “Hillary is the only candidate who has the guts to deliver universal health care for all Nevadans – and our country,” Coffin said. “Hillary has the strength and experience to enact change on day one in the Oval Office.”
And given the ambivalent feelings many Democrats have for John Kerry, you can judge for yourself which endorsement today truly has the smell of death.

Kerry endorsed Obama because he senses that Hillary is part of the same vote counting process that elected Bush.
As a lifelong Democrat, I'd rather vote for any of the Republicans - with the possible exception of Rudy - before I vote for Hillary.
America, wake up. Your elections are being stolen and you're not even making a stink.
Is it just okay when a Republican steals an election from a Democrat (or visa versa)? Don't Democrats have the sense to stand up when all reason tells them that the NH vote count defied logic.
Consider the long lines in the cold.
Consider the many polls that showed Obama with a 9 to 12 point lead.
Consider conservative columnist David Brooks noting on PBS that Hillary did not significantly win the "last minute deciders."
How, then, does she pull off a 3 point victory?
The women's vote? That would have showed up in the polling. The "racist" vote? The long lines in the cold wouldn't have existed.
Stalin said it best: He who votes decides nothing; he who counts the votes decides everything.

Nothing has posted since 2:50 PM??
Wow. How sad.

Huh?
Couldn't Swamp just report that Hillary received this endorsement in straight forward fashion? Why the need for such a negative title concerning the fairly routine act of procuring an endorsement from an elected official? I mean: "Clinton's Endorsement of Death? What's with you guys?
And knocking the guy by so derisively referring to his hobbies at that. Shortwave radio operators and antiquarian book readers I hope you got the message. You are unworthy of the Obama campaign.
Such shallow acts generally backfire.

Well, I am desappointed with the loss that senator Obama had experienced in New Hamphire. Again in my heart, he is a winner. I see his integrity and his sincerity, I believe he'll
get the nomination. He is smart and the american voters realized that Obama
is campaigning against two
Clintons. May the voters also understand that senator Clinton can not make a decision on her own.
There are times during an international summit, the president will have to negociate and to make a decision. I don't see it in her. Even now she only follows senator Obama's steps. He chooses "change" as his motto, she does the samething. He seeks and and embrace the youngters's vote, now she is talking about going along with the youngters. I know things are going to get nasty. I don't ask senator Obama to low himself to that mud, only a Clinton can. Last win was with a cry. God knows what next. What's despicable, it's the behavior of the former president Clinton on the campaign trail. I believe he should support her, but
to go as far as to defame senator Obama position on issues, it's unheard of,especially from a former president. What's an example for the younger generation.

I couldn't agree with Biggdawg more. I read this story expecting some great trend of how every leading presidential candidate that Bob Coffin has endorsed in his twenty-some-odd years as a senator.
But, seriously, a pun? That's it? Sooooo clever.
Has the Tribune made the MadTV-style crack about how Obama rhymes with Osama yet?

You're right lefties...when 'The Swamp' is so full of Barack "Hussein" Obama and trashes other lefty socialists...it's time to revolt...
Thank-you for your concern!

Amazing that this guy's endorsement is couched in such negative language while The Swamp has given five (5) positive items about presidential election loser John Kerry endorsing Obama. All the while a huge percentage of democrats still put the blame for the 2004 loss on Kerry.
Wow. Biased much there, Swamp?

Rest easy, Clintonians. Susan Estrich, who ran the successful Dukakis campaign, favors Madame Clinton. If that doesn't cancel out Kerry's support of Obama, I don't know what will....unless it's the backing of Madeline Albright, who was such a success as secretary of state.
