DES MOINES—Republican Fred Thompson has been rejecting repeated criticism that he is lacking a certain fire-in-the-belly during his Iowa campaigning for president.
But a new direct mail piece from the former Tennessee senator's campaign that arrived in the mailboxes of Iowa Republicans tries to explain Thompson's unique, if not lackadaisical, style.
"Fred Thompson is measured," the mail piece says. "He takes his time to think about what he's going to say."
Of course, in Thompson's most immediate professional life, thinking about what he was going to say was not an issue. As an actor on NBC's "Law & Order," all of his lines were scripted.
Thompson has previously sent out some hard-hitting mail attacks on rival Mike Huckabee and also has been critical of Mitt Romney. He notes in the latest mailer that he would provide "serious presidential leadership" as a consistent conservative.
"Unfortunately," the mail piece says, "some candidates are too busy running from their past and others want to make jokes in order to hide their shortcomings."

I posted here why Fred is the best. He's a real conservative, not a pretender like Mitt Romney. He's serious about foreign policy, having served on the Intelligence Committee. He's a federalist, which means that there isn't a doubt but that he'd appoint strict constructionist judges.
In short, he's the real deal.

Rick,
If the mail "attacks" are "hard-hitting" the Huckster and Willard have only themselves to blame for the information provided is merely from their own records and past actions.
The MSM has consistently used the word "attacks" to wrongly describe the effort of bringing out verifiable and factual information on the competition. When and if that information is not factual, then and only then, can it rightly be monickered an "attack".
If a candidate has a checkered, unqualified, inexperienced, etc... past then it is certainly no "attack" to offer what the candidate is already fully aware would come up in a run for the presidency.
On the other hand, when the MSM creates aspersions to further their own political agenda and repeats them until they are wrongly believed then, those would also rightly be called "attacks".

Fred Thompson is the best man for the job, but religious hatred and flip flopping will win because
America wants it that way!!

Fred Thompson gets it. You can say he doesn't have the charisma that the American public craves in their celebrities but we need a great leader, NOT someone craving power. Fred Thompson is that leader.

To the mainstream media,
Thanks for criticizing Fred so much! The fact that you have been relentless in your attempts to marginalize him has only reinforced my belief that he is the best man for the job!

If you want someone who is serious about doing the job right Fred is the man. I believe he can boast more experience that Mitt Romney has in dollars. For Fred, it isn't about gaining political power as with the majority of the candidates, but rather getting America back on track with its foundations through strong leadership.

Thompson is the only real conservative in the top tier.
He is his own man. He isn't owned by the LDS church (95% of all funds from Utah to candidates are going to Romney). He isn't supporting a Health Care plan that is indistinguishable from Hillary Clinton's like Romney. He isn't supporting gays in the boyscouts like Romney. He isn't going to bring in the lawyers when deciding whether or not to confront Iran like Romney.
He is a solid fiscal and social conservative with character and consistency.
The rest are posers to the throne.

I had SO much hope when Fred first started. I hope the miricle happens and I get a chance to vote for him.. but he just hasn't caught on yet. He says EVERYTHING I want to hear. My #1 issue is the invasion of Mexicans, and he sounds like he will deal with it!

If Fred loses the nomination battle let's face it...we'll be forced to vote for a liberal republican to keep a socialist out of the White House. Fred Thompson, the clear conservative choice, the only conservative choice.
