DES MOINES – On Monday, Gov. Mike Huckabee held a news conference to show reporters an attack ad he said he won't run against Gov. Mitt Romney -- a bizarre campaign stunt that seemed difficult to top in absurdity.

Huckabee did it in about 29 hours.

Last night, Huckabee and the aging action actor Chuck Norris stood side-by-side in a conference room at the downtown Marriott here. Huckabee talked for a few minutes about the importance of bloggers, who hosted the event. Norris then took over on the mic and proceeded to tear into Romney, as well as unveil a fundraising idea that he and his wife came up.

Norris started out by calling Romney a flip-flopper and then he turned his ire toward those who call Huckabee a preacher. "I don't call him Pastor Mike. I call him Governor Mike," said Norris, noting that Huckabee spent 11 years in that position.
A blogger then asked Norris if he'd like to roundhouse kick Romney, to which Norris replied: " I don't roundhouse kick. I choke."

Leaving the choking for later, Norris said he'd like to help raise money for Huckabee's campaign, which seriously needs cash, now. At this point in the event, this reporter thought Norris was about to announce a major donation from himself -- maybe whip out an oversize check -- but it went a little differently than that.

Norris presented the idea that he could hold a BBQ at his Texas ranch, and have people pay to watch the event over the internet. Huckabee's band could come, Norris said. And Norris would arrange for a demonstration from martial arts-trained youths and other "entertainers." You could even get a virtual tour of Norris' "2,000 square-foot gym."

In short: On Tuesday, Mike Huckabee and Chuck Norris announced an upcoming virtual picnic, where you can log on and pay to watch them eat BBQ.

Truth, at least on the campaign trail, can indeed be stranger than fiction.

I respect Mitt Romney for using his resources to help fund his campaign. It would be very disheartening to think he had the resources but expected the American People to fund it entirely knowing that he could easily contribute. I think it shows his integrity and willingness to give. Mitt Romney has put more of himself (time, talents, family, energy, knowledge and experience) into this race than any other single candidate on the GOP ticket. He has been fully engaged for the entire year. I think that shows committment, foritude, earnestness, leadership, and trust. "Money is not the root of all evil. The love of money is". Mitt Romney is not in this campaign to amass wealth (he didn't take income or gifts when Governor and has even stated he won't take an income from the tax payers when he is President). He has used the wealth he has earned through a life time of honest hard work to serve others. It would be a sad day if someone in his position were to ask for campaign funds of the electorate but would not invest his own abundance to the cause.

I get tired of the media slamming him for his contributions. Those writing articles are doing it for the big bucks themselves. If they get the "story" they get the money. I worry a lot more about their hearts and motives than I do the motives of Mitt Romney. I personally feel Mitt Romney's upright life style and choices so out shine the media and many of the candidates running for office.

It is a cruel world that tries to punish someone for being "too good". Mitt lives a clean and decent life and put many others who know better to shame. People are judging the mote in Romney's eye while their own has a beam.

I respect Governor Romney. He has put up with a lot of slander this year and has kept the campaign to the issues at hand when every one else attacked him on non issues.

Mike Huckabee's heroes are characters made up on television (Chuck Norris) or rock stars (Rolling Stones who seek money for selfish gain not caring about what their music does to harm young people).

Mike Huckabee said that he does not want to make the rich poor, but to make the poor rich. There will always be some one that has more than another. To seek for riches is not the goal. To take care of others is. I think Mitt Romney has shown that he knows how to use resources for the benefit of others. That is true leadership.

Here are to two extremes of money:

16 "Wo unto you rich men, that will not give your substance to the poor, for your riches will canker your souls; and this shall be your lamentation in the day of visitation, and of judgment, and of indignation: The harvest is past, the summer is ended, and my soul is not saved!
17 Wo unto you poor men, whose hearts are not broken, whose spirits are not contrite, and whose bellies are not satisfied, and whose hands are not stayed from laying hold upon other men’s goods, whose eyes are full of greediness, and who will not labor with your own hands!
18 But blessed are the poor who are pure in heart, whose hearts are broken, and whose spirits are contrite, for they shall see the kingdom of God coming in power and great glory unto their deliverance; for the fatness of the earth shall be theirs.
19 For behold, the Lord shall come, and his recompense shall be with him, and he shall reward every man, and the poor shall rejoice."

Amateur hour, sponsered by the MSM. At least Romney has real hair -- Chuck should lose the rug - it, he and Huck fool no one.

And Huckabee calls himself a Christian? How pathetic. Even if he wins the R race I would not vote for someone so dishonest and Holyier than thou.I am a very strong republucan but would not even vote period if that man was the misleading represtation of our nation. He is not smart enough.

But look at Huckabee's associations !

Who a man hangs around with says alot about him !

I mean, Chuck Norris !

Say what you want about Mike Huckabee;

But if you offend his Friend Chuck Norris--

Or the Multiple-Millions of His Fans (And Mike Huckabee Votes !).

Some have criticized Romney for having wealth (don't alot of the candidates?) --do they realize that he was unpaid as Governor, and is choosing to not be paid as President? This only shows one part of what type of man Romney is. A man of great integrity. America would be so fortunate to have him as our President.

Romney has demonstrated the kind of decent person that he is over many years. One example was when one of his office staff reported that his daughter was missing and had got in with some bad company. He closed his office took all the staff to the other side of the country until they found the daughter. He is also a fine looking man who could have wandered but no he is faithful to his one wife for over 30 years. He turned round a scandal riddled winter olympics that was rapidly going broke and turned a deficit into a surplus during his tenure as Governor of Massachusetts. He also turned around thousands of companies that were financially troubled as a venture capitalist. I believe he will turn around Americas fortunes for the better and make it a better place for all americans.

Huckabee and Norris can't be for real. Paying for a virtual BBQ and a virtual tour of the Norris gym?

Why doesn't Huckabee just skip all the stress and strain of campaigning and just nominate himself at a virtual convention and elect himself President in a virtual election? I'm sure that would be much more entertaining.

HUCKABIGOT--
I find it hard to understand why a person or group of people would exclude any political candidate for any office soley because his/her religion does not meet the standards they themselves have established. Evangelicals to say they are Christians and yet are not tolerant or respectful of another's religious views are nothing but bigots and that would put Huckabee at the top of the bigot list. Thank God the majority of the country will see through this smoke screen and dump Huckabee on his bigoted ass.

Personally, I think Romney could take Norris any day of the week!

Gee, I wasn't aware that Huckabee or any Evangelicals were out to hunt down and kill heretics. If they are, I'd like to know the details. If they aren't, then I'd like to know where you get the idea they are intolerant.

One doesn't have to agree with or like a competing set of ideas to "tolerate" it. “Tolerance” merely means to put up with something, even if you don't like it. To agree with an idea is to “accept" it - which isn't the same thing as tolerance.

Write-in Chuck Norris for President.

When the Boogeyman goes to sleep every night, he checks his closet for Chuck Norris.

Chuck Norris doesn't read books. He stares them down until he gets the information he wants.

Outer space exists because it's afraid to be on the same planet with Chuck Norris.

Remember the Soviet Union? They decided to quit after watching a DeltaForce marathon on Satellite TV.

Contrary to popular belief, America is not a democracy, it is a Chucktatorship.

I've watched Huckabee over the past 2 years on Imus, and then as he began his presidential race. He has disappointed me by using some cheap stunts to attack another's religion, and is now doing this farcical dance with his buddy Chuck Norris. I'm not a Mormon, but was raised in Utah and have a deep respect for Mitt Romney, though I'm a strong Obama supporter. I find it ironic that Obama and Romney are now united in being targets of bias and innuendo from petty opponents like Huckabee. Too bad. I thought Huck was a better person than that.

Upchuckabee!!! Freak!!!

Tweedle dee and tweedle dumb!

Last week Huckabee said he would not support Romney even if Huck lost the primary. Reading between the lines: evangelicals don't vote for the Mormon.

The Drudge Report has a headline that Hucklebee's campaign manager, Ed Rollins, wants to knock out Romney's teeth. Hucklebee seems to surround himself with people who are rather...violent.

Thanks Jason George. Your comment hits it on the head: Romney's discourse and comportment this past year set him apart and above the competition. Case and point: even his contrast ads refer to his competitors as "good" and "honorable" men. Nothing like the threats of having your teeth knocked out or being choked.

Romney has demonstrated how to live a good an honorable life, being firm at times (a necessary requirement for the highest elected office in the land), even in the face of (baseless) adversity and without resorting to gimicks or personal attacks. That is truly worthy of emulation, and that is why I support Governor Romney.

Romney is the king of flip flop.

sincere video is worth ?

What a bunch of Huck haters. I like Huck and I like what he brings to the table. I agree with most (but not all) of his views and if you've watched him on Meet the Press, Wolf, etc., he's smart, conversational, professional, and honest. He probably should drop Chuck at this point-- but it gets his name in the news. Mitt is just not the guy I'm voting for.

I really used to enjoy Walker Texas Ranger and other Chuck Norris Flicks. Ironically, Chuck's endorsement of the Huck has made me lose support for the former, not take the latter more seriously.

Let's see...Ed Rollins wants to "knock out Romney's teeth." Chuck Norris wants to choke Romney. Huckabee thinks that Romney should commit suicide (http://blog.electromneyin2008.com/2007/12/28/huckabee-contemplates-suicide-for-guys-who-spent-tens-of-millions-of-dollars-and-arent-further-ahead/).

With "Christian Leaders" like this, who needs bad guys around?

I think that Huckabee's actions and comments just in the last 30 days entitles him to the title of Master Flip Flop. He has earned it.

Come, come! Chuck Norris?!!! Then again, Mike Huckabee?!!!

Vote Ron Paul!

Anyone who hangs out with grade B, has-been celebrities and believes the earth is only 6,000 years old has no business running for president.

In every election I make it a practice to look at the kinds of people that each candidate attracts. So, looking at Mike Huckabee's website today, I was appalled at the posted comments from his supporters -- comments full of loathing and bigotry towards non-Christians and Mormons.... The site was full of them!

Evidently Huckabee supports the views of these commenters. If he did not he would have had them screened before they were posted -- or had them immediately culled from his site. We can only conclude that he wants these ignorant rants read and digested.

Amen!!! Huckabee gives me the creeps. There is something very wrong with a country that would even consider electing this man.

That's funny, I've always wanted to knock Ed Rollins teeth out!!!

I'm not a big Huckabee fan, I don't plan to vote for him, and I don't really mean to defend him too much. All the same, I don't think you are being fair. I think one should confront Huckabee with the information you have just provided, and then see how he reacts to it.

If he approves the bigoted comments then, yes, he is in trouble. Then again, it could very well be that he’s too busy to manage his site, and those in whom he has entrusted the site are screwing up without his knowledge. Ron Paul had the same problem once with a writer who wrote some racist comments in his newsletter. He credibly disavowed those comments. So, I think its only fair that Huckabee first be given the opportunity to explain the existence of the bigoted comments before he gets tanked for them. What’s the harm in being fair?

Romney had better step up his security with Rollins and Norris after him now and lifelong hunter Huckabee apparently unaware of basic gun safety.

Romney by 15% in Iowa.

Huckabee;
'Hey! I have a idea! Let's put on a show! My mom still has those costumes left over from last years church play!'

Chuckabee;
Yeah, and we can use my uncle's old barn as a stage!'

Wow...Only the egomaniacal would think of something this ridiculous...No one cares what your gym looks like, or quite frankly wants to watch you eat!

I second the opinion of those who say you can always tell a man by the company he keeps. Have any more dead animal jokes to share Governor?? Howabout about suicide ones???

What was that? Oh yeah.."If you are dishonest getting a job you'll be dishonest in carrying the job".

Don't let the media chose your candidate!!! Vote informed...
