GREENVILLE, S.C. – For the past several months Sen. John McCain and former Gov. Mike Huckabee have rarely missed an opportunity to compliment each other. Now McCain is using those words against the former governor.

In a new ad released this morning called "Trust Huckabee", McCain lets the Huckabee do the talking:

"Senator McCain, no matter what anyone may say, is a genuine conservative."
-Huckabee

"John McCain is a hero in this country. He's a hero to me."
-Huckabee

"John McCain is a true, honest-to-God American hero."
-Huckabee

The one time McCain talks is to say, "I'm John McCain and I approve this message."

The ad, which for now is only running online, can be found here.

McCain's camp pointed out in announcing the ad that Huckabee, or at least some of his supporters struck first, distributing leaflets and placing calls to South Carolina voters questioning the senator's loyalty when he was a prisoner of war in Vietnam and saying McCain supported medical tests on fetuses and amnesty for illegal immigrants.
Huckabee's staff has denounced those attacks, saying they had nothing to do with them.

This is an awesome response to the Huckabee campaign and all its "Shelley Perry's" that are conducting a whisper campaign with Andrew Kiley and his sick distortions. Great job, Truth Squad!

I think McCain is just using Huckabee and Huckabee wants to be "something" so badly that he'll not attack McCain, but in the end McCain won't be faithful to the faithful Huckabee. The REAL Ronald Reagan Republicans lose with these two liberals. They both want to change Washington to be more like the Deomcrats want it.

Huckabee is mixing up what true compassion really is. Huckabee's type of foolish compassion only hurts people. Wisdom's compassion lifts people.

McCain will say do anything to become the Commander and Chief of this nation....anything! That title is what is pushing this man. He is self absorbed with a personal agenda. His agenda does not include the best interests of the American people. He likes things too much is own way!

McCain:
"The Annenberg Foundation's nonpartisan FactCheck.org just delivered a powerful rebuke to the basic honesty of a McCain mailer used in South Carolina (and defended by Sen. McCain after reporters called it to his attention).
In particular, FactCheck.org called McCain's assertion that Mitt Romney "provided" taxpayer-funded abortions "simply false."
"Romney never pushed for taxpayer funding for abortions. The state law he signed provided greatly expanded state-subsidized health insurance for low-income residents," Factcheck.org explained. An independent body -- the Commonwealth Connector -- not Romney, decided that abortions would be covered (a move required by two Massachusetts state supreme court rulings).
McCain also had the chutzpah to charge Romney with failing to verbally support Bush tax cuts that McCain himself actually voted against .
FactCheck.org concluded that on the whole John McCain's portrayal of Romney's record as governor of Massachusetts was "so distorted as to discredit McCain's claim to be the candidate of 'straight talk.'"
St. McCain -- distorting the record and misleading the public? If you listen to former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum, that may not be as surprising as the branders want you to believe. In an unprecedentedly frank evaluation of a former GOP colleague. Sen. Santorum, who hasn't endorsed a candidate, said McCain is "very, very dangerous for Republicans" on domestic issues.
"The bottom line is that I served 12 years with him, six years in the United States Senate," he told WABC radio talk show host Mark Levin. "And almost at every turn on domestic policy, John McCain was not only against us, but leading the charge on the other side."
Sen. McCain apparently had a nasty habit of leaving one impression in public on social issues like abortion and marriage, and another behind closed Senate doors, according to Santorum:
"That discussion is held in private, where you're jostling and jockeying to get your legislation into the queue so that you can have your time on the floor to get something done. And I can tell you, when social-conservative issues were ever raised -- whether it was marriage or abortion or a whole host of other issues -- there were always the moderates who said: 'No, no, no, we can't. They're divisive, divisive, divisive.' And more often than not, John McCain was ... with them."
"That's wrong," Santorum added. "And that gives me an insight into what he would really be like if he were president of the United States."

Very, very smart John Mccain. This video not only shows the allegiance between these two men of honor, but makes them both look good. I hope they are the ticket for the Republican party.

My main vote is for Mike Huckabee. He is going to do great things for this nation! They both are!

How's Rick Santorum doing in the EX senator business these days? Santorum was the Christian Right's hitman for two terms. I'm glad McCain can't stand him, either. If being against Santorum is wrong most Americans don't want to be right.

McCain's ad sure makes Huckabee look good. Think I'm going to vote for Huck!

Sounds good to me. Let us pray that with Huck we will be able to pray anywhere prayer isn't allowed now. I pray for the people to pray for Huck so we can all pray together. praise be. Prayer is the only way to send the soiled gays to church for prayer and teach us all to pray again the way prayer should be. I pray.

My vote is going on Mike Huckabee . We need an honest and moral man running this country for a change. Mike was named by Time Magazine as of the top 5 Governors in America. That was before he decided to run for President. A great decoration!

Mike is authentic and inspiring, making him the best leader I have ever known. He is the type of leader that naturally motivates his men to want to work their hardest , without even telling them to. People under Mike's comand work their hardest because they love and respect this commander.

Mike Huckabee is the first candidate that I have ever had 100% trust and faith in. Please, go out and vote for him.

I'm sure that it's safe to say that the last poster was definately NOT a Huckabee support and possibly was either drunk or high. Anyway, I love Huckabee and I DO NOT want McCain on the ticket, because McCain would give away our nation's sovereignty to the International Criminal Court ( http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/c/a/2008/01/02/MNLUU4LBH.DTL ), McCain would give away our nation's sovereignty to the UN through L.O.S.T. (Law Of the Sea Treaty), McCain (and Thompson) took away OUR 1st Amendment rights with their McCain/Thompson/Feingold Bill, and McCain doesn't have good judgement enough to not try to cram a ridiculous Shamnesty bill down our throats with no discussion in the middle of the night.
McCain's plans suck!
I'm voting for Huck!
(I am NOT Mike Huckabee and I'm quite sure that, after those last 2 lines, he would NOT approve of this message!) :+)

John McCain is not truthful he is against Bush tax cuts, for McCain Lieberman Algores' Global Warming Religion, for amnesty for Illegals, for McCain Feingold anti-free speech to help incumbents 60 days before elections, and he divorced his wife Carol because she had surgery and limped. He threw her out and married the daughter of the Anheuser Busch distributor for Arizona Cindy. We don't need all this Ross Perot told Newsweek yesterday about how he helped McCain's first wife to get an operation paying for it because she called and asked him to.As for Huckabee, he raised taxes in Arkansas. Romney, Giuliani or Thompson would be better fro the GOP. Jerry White, Springfield, IL

Huck is just too weird. When hearing him speak--sometimes I think that he sold his soul to the devil rather than gave his life to the Lord. I hear a lot of judgement coming out of that guy's mouth. Scary. I think Bush said that God wanted him to be pres. too--and look where we are. Look how much death, injury, and lack of care for Americans trying to make it in every day life. Huck, go back to a cloistered church in your home state. Go keep people down in the name of God.
