Miami, Fla. – We all now know that Chuck Norris, the martial arts movie star, has a problem with Sen. John McCain's age.
"I didn't pick John to support because I'm just afraid that the vice president would wind up taking over his job in that four-year presidency," Norris said Sunday before hosting a fundraiser for former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, 52, at his Lone Wolf Ranch.
Today, McCain was asked about the 67-year-old Norris's criticism during a stop at Versailles, the famed Cuban restaurant here that all politicians must visit if they want the Cuban American vote in South Florida.
"I'm afraid I may have to send my 95-year-old mother over and wash Chuck's mouth out with soap," he said, using his trademark humor to deflect the matter.

67 year-old Norris is calling someone old? The credibility in the Huck camp is so thick you can use it as a pair of Depends®.

McCain is a good sport about it, but I think Norris raised a good point. Is McCain too old? I think the problem isn't that he is old, but that he looks old.

"I'm afraid I may have to send my 95-year-old mother over and wash Chuck's mouth out with soap," (McCain) said.
And she can do it. She's a former Marine drill sergeant.

Oh, c'mon. We're not in the 1960s ... McCain has kept himself in outstanding health -- the hard way -- and has absolutely not health issues. He is certainly not too old to be President. If Dick Cheney can be a "heartbeat away" for 8 years (he's closer to being a heartbeat away from the grave!), then McCain can certainly be the President for 8 years, not four.
Chuck Norris ought to know this as he has kept himself in excellent shape the same way -- hard work. He will come around when he realizes that Huckabee is a flash-in-the-pan who only appeals to Southern evangelical conservatives.
How could anyone vote for a candidate who would be crushed in any state that isn't southern or evangelical? You have to win the COUNTRY, not a region. Huckabee's a nice guy, but can't win a state like Ohio, Florida, Wisconsin or Pennsylvania, crucial to the Republican hopes.
Best wishes,
Nathan

Personally, I don't think McCain is too old, however, Mike's reasons why McCain should be prez lacks any real credibility. With the list Mike has, someone please explain how that makes McCain president worthy.

Frankly, you have to be suffering from short-term memory loss to consider his candidacy without laughing. In fact, the more you know of his record the worse it gets.

Chuck Norris is healthy and able, unlike John McCain, who is both old and sickly.
There is no chance that McCain could ever go toe to toe with someone like Obama who is youthful and articulate, or even Hillary, who is relatively healthy.

Other than being a POW I can't think of one reason why McCain should be the President, that's what I call playing it "SAFE".
As a Democrat, McCain would be my favorie Republican to face in 08.
The "100 years in Iraq" statement he made, the fact that he doesn't have a clue as to what to do about the economy and the pictures of him sucking up to George Bush would be repeated over and over again.

McCain can not be allowed to win. Conservatives will end up in a position having to choose between Obama, Hillary, or McCain, leaving them with no conservative candidate.
McCain was almost John Kerry's running mate last time, and there's a serious chance that he may choose Lieberman as his running mate if he wins the nomination!
John McCain is no conservative!
Stopping McCain must be our first priority, so please vote for Romney. Even if you don't agree with Romney on some things, he's no John McCain, and is our only and best choice for beating McCain now.

If you look at McCain he is what Obama claims to be. He has a true record of being the one guy in Congress who actually thinks for himself and doesnt just go along with the party line unlike Obama and HIllary. If you look at Obama as a man and his life and compare it to the accomplishments of McCain there is no comparison. McCain is more qaulified than anyone else in this election. Dont you think in order to be Commander in Chief during war time you should actually have some military experience. Had Bush ahd someone who has some instead of him, Rumsfeld, and Cheney we might be in a better position today. McCain has complained from the beg that Bush was doing everything wrong in Iraq. I would rather have MCain lead my armed forces rather thatn someone like Bush/Cheney/Obama who have only read about the military in books. McCain is a mans man. I know my granfather was a better man than me, and I am sure that McCain is a better man than Obama. MCain comes from a generation when men were men. He is not form a generation that spit at soldiers or cares only about themselves. Right now McCain is the best choice. You have Hillary who I somewhat like but lets face it she is running on her husbands accomplishments somewhat, you got Obama who has no sigificant accomplishements at all to speak of, and then you got McCain who has served his country admirably for 50 years.

I am a landscaper for a very wealthy gentleman in Orange County, California. He has 5 acres of land and a large house and several fine cars. He told me he made most of his money in the stock market. recently he told me he recently pulled most of his money out of the market because we were headed for a large stock market correction. It appears he was correct. He said he sold almost every stock he owned except for one company called AVASOFT (AVAF)
He told me to put some of my money in this company, helped me open up a stock account and so far it is doing great. Maybe one day I can attain great wealth such as the gentleman I work for...

We've now been in Korea, Germany and Japan for more than 50 years, each, so I have no problem with McCain's 100 years in Iraq comment. Like he said, as long as American troops aren't dying there's nothing wrong with keeping a base there.
If I need to learn karate I'll contact 67-year-old Chuck Norris. If I need to elect a president, I'll vote for John McCain and Chuck Norris or who he endorses won't enter my mind.
Obama has only read about the military in books. His entire political career has been financed by Tony Rezko and the Illinois democratic machine. He talks about change in Washington but has delivered none of it to Illinois.

I look forward to McCain getting the Republican nomination, I can't wait for him to spend six whole months running around with Prez 26% and Veep Dictator Dick telling everyone how great Iraq is and how he'll stay there forever if he's elected.
You can say "goodbye" to the Independent vote, Mr McGoo.

One of the most curious postings I've read in awhile. So are we to review our staying in Iraq on a day to day, hour by hour basis? If the answer is no, how many dead soldiers is too much? A handful of dead soldiers is ok? Say it out loud if that's what you're saying. Why don't you go to Iraq young Jeff/Bill?
Posted by: john | January 21, 2008 4:08 PM
Jeff and Vinny, personally I want a President who will challenge the military. I want a President who will question the military's imgrained notions. I want a President dedicated to civilian control of the military and who understands that the military is there to support the country, not the other way around.
The Military Industrial complex is hardly under-represented in our government, we don't need to make membership a requirement for President.
Posted by: Luke | January 21, 2008 4:31 PM
This is in response to Luke. As a former Marine I think it is very important for a war time oresident to have served in the armed forces. The ultimate deceision resides with the president. If you have McCain as the president no one is going to be able to pull the wool over his eyes so to speak when it comes to military matters. If you have someone like Bush Obama Edwards etc. who have only read about the military basically they are just guessing when it comes to these types of decisions. They hear one side and then hear another and then try and guess which one to support. That is not an issue with McCain. He can basically take advisement on military matters but he would just be sharpening his own ideas/position not choosing to adopt this or that guys ideas.

Posted by: gary | January 21, 2008 7:50 PM
No, the exact appropriate amount of dead American soldiers is zero. As there have been in Japan and Germany since roughly 1946, Korea since the '50s and in every other military base we keep.
When there are no more soldiers dying we'll have won in Iraq. But leaving a base there is just good policy. It'll allow our military to more quickly and nimbly respond to events in the middle east.
p.s. I just love it that "conservative" Mitt Romney is the toast of the Rush crowd these days. Look at his flip-flopping on abortion then you'll see a guy who's a true threat to conservatives.

Lets be fair and have some John McCain facts:
If you have 5 dollars and John McCain has five dollars, John McCain will give your five dollars to Israel.
There is no 'ctrl' button on John McCain's computer. John McCain is always under AIPAC control.
Israel pays John McCain 99 cents every time he sings 'Bomb Bomb Bomb, Bomb Bomb Iran'.
John McCain can lie with his eyes open.
John McCain can eat just one Lay's potato chip....when AIPAC tells him too.
John McCain destroyed the border partol, because he only recognizes the element of amnesty.
John McCain can start two wars with one order from Isreal.
