It's not as much as his totals last Nov. 5 ($4.3 million) or Dec. 16 ($6 million), but Rep Ron Paul has managed to again squeeze the Internet for a boatload of campaign cash.
Paul hauled in $1.85 million on Monday, besting a Tuesday NYC fundraiser by Sen. John McCain, which gathered about $1 million, and former Gov. Mike Huckabee's Sunday trip to Chuck Norris's ranch, which Campaign Manager Chip Saltsman says brought in about $330,000. (Norris' goal was $10 million.)
Paul has yet to win a primary, but he's finished in the top five in every single one, including a second place finish in lightly-contested Nevada. He's earned 6 delegate pledges so far, putting him in 5th place in that hunt. As Rudy Giuliani would probably prefer that no one point out: Paul has bested him in every contest except New Hampshire.
In announcing Monday's results last night, Jonathan Bydlak, Paul's financing director, couldn't stop himself from using some schadenfreude to appeal for more money:
"For those of you who haven't heard, Mike Huckabee's campaign is broke. Don't let the same thing happen to Ron Paul. After all, where else would Mike Huckabee get all of his ideas? Contribute today!"

Comments
It's funny Ron Paul has raised so much money from "real people", when he "only" raises $1.85 million in a day it seems minor. If Huckabee had raised that much it would have been seen as a "sign from god". Maybe someone should ask him since he's running on fumes if god has decided he ought to follow Fred Thompson into retirement? Next up for "retirement" -Guliani...love to see that grinning phony go away.
People, we CAN make a difference and we ARE.
If we don't get the nomination it will be for 2 reasons, the well documented media bias and because WE didn't work hard enough educating those who aren't as impassioned as the rest of us. It's a sad fact that alot of people vote, but they do minimal research or worse let their television set tell them who to vote for.
We can't do much about the media bias, we can about educating people though...
We have a candidate that embodies what is right, WE have to continue our efforts. If not now, when? If not us, who?
To all of the young people involved in this campaign as well as those a few years older who are "waking up" politically, you are the future of government. Encourage and support like minded people to run for office in your town and your state, maybe even run yourself.
The Ron Paul platform is the most sane and logical, it returns power to the people. That is what scares the status quo.
It doesn't take much research and soul searching to know he's right about the war, US imperialism and our false economy...yet nobody else will talk about it...why do we vote for those who refuse to deal with reality? Can't we handle the truth? Are WE as a nation that far gone?

Thank you so much for your coverage of Dr. Paul. I am a fervent supporter and it is great to see him getting coverage in the mainstream media, which has been blackballing him as of late.

Most candidates semm to be picking out pieces of Pauls stances on the campaign trail.
The only one who speaks the truth and has no secrets, unless made up by the media.
With no media coverage whatsoever he still polled higher than two other top tier candidates.

Dr. Ron Paul has REAL followers which are pitching REAL Money. What he does not have is the main Media establishment support. Although he has come way ahead of “Silvester Giuliani” Giuliani gets a free pass in terms of free media coverage.
So what does this young America people think about that? Yes… Media is Bias just like History is Bias and as we all know, History is writing by winners and Dr. Paul regardless of getting the GOP nomination or not has WON. Why? Very simple..
His message has reached the masses, he has championed what no other US President or US Congress man or women has done and that is “To defend and to Support the Constitution of the United States” and that my fellow Americans is real Patriotism Not what the rest with their buzz words want believe by re-writing what Patriotism is and means.
So in a short and mid term start watching new people running for congress (house or senate). It is time to change, yes indeed, change in the way the government is been run and becoming less and less for the people by the people but for Big Business and global interest and in the process chipping our US Constitution and directly and indirectly shaping us to becoming Sheep.
Wake Up, Read, Research and find the truth behind Buzz words and it will set you free!
Buzz words are nuisance to those who knows the truth behind them.

I love that comment "After all, where else would Mike Huckabee get all of his ideas?" it is so perfect. For anyone that pays close attention to the rhetoric being spewed Mike completely changed it up about 2 months ago. No one was saying what Paul was saying, now it seems like everyone is trying to sound like him. Billery to Mikey they all are starting to sound like Ron Paul. Paul is the only one who hasn't tried to pander to what other candidates advisers tell them America wants to hear.

I can't wait to laugh the night of the Florida primary when the big phony Rudi loses. Republicans don't like gun grabbers, gay parade marchers and guy's who put on panties and dresses. We leave that for the Democratic Party. Lipstick too.

i did a news search each day for several days and there have been zero new video clips or news articles about Dr. Paul, even after winning NV, and hauling in another boatload of cash (i've donated twice myself) and as someone who has worked in the media for his entire career, I'm sad to say it's true, our "watchdog" of last resort has failed us...and I won't even mention "fair and balanced" joke. It's no wonder there is such credibility given to "new world order" theories and 9-11 cause & effect doubts among everyday citizens.
Say it ain't so Media, show us your not actually doing the bidding of the ruling few, we beg of you.

Lame Stream Media hasn't seen anything yet!
$1.85 million is chump change when compared to the potential.
The fund raisers that are being reported are all internet grass roots generated & have nothing to do with the official Ron Paul 2008 campaign.
That is the real story here.
Ordinary people are giving that money not mega special interest.

This is war. We Ron Paul supporters must donate till it really really hurts. Do not wait for money bombs or other gimmicks. Donate TODAY or any day! Ten bucks here and there from hundreds of thousands of people can win this thing! No donation is too small! Don't be shy or think you can't make a difference, you CAN change the world!

The Way it's going, The only two Repubs left by super tuessday will be Self-Funded Mitt and People-Powered Ron. 2 1/2 if you count McCain limping into the fray. Rudy can't pay his staff, and the only people paying attention to him are FOX News staffers (only because Roger Ailes tells them to!). Huck has his FAMILY setting up chairs at events, can't pay his staff, and since Chuck Norris has maxxed out his $2300, he has no one else giving him money. McCain is playing the Pander Bear right now, as usual, and his campaign will fall apart when everyone realizes (like in the last two campaigns) that his convictions run a mile wide and a millimeter deep.
Ron Paul is like the tortoise- all the hares have blown their wad and exhausted their funds, while Ron still has his powder dry and his ammunition stocked (and millions in untapped donor resources!). Unless the major networks want to register as campaign agents and run essentially Mitt Romney infomercials, they will soon be forced to cover Ron Paul in a REAL way, without distorting his message and lying about his record, as has been de riguer for the campaign so far. Should get REAL interesting REAL soon!

Ron Paul is a fine man with no business experience. Mitt Romney and Ron Paul might make a good combo. The reason that the old guard keep bringing up Mitt's wealth is that he cannot be bought. McCain and the others have too many connection, and have been wheeling and dealing for years.

"Rep Ron Paul has managed to again squeeze the Internet for a boatload of campaign cash."
WRONG! Ron Paul's official campaign had nothing to do with this fundraising effort; they "squeezed" nothing. This was organized and executed entirely by grassroots supporters.
If anything, the Internet squeezed Dr. Paul and said, "We will not let you give up the fight for limited government!"

Over 100K donors providing on average $100 per donation. Over 10,000 precinct leaders. Over 100K meetup members in over 1,500 meetups. I would not call this the effort of "crazies"; perhaps the systematic development of grass roots politics at a scale the US has never seen before. The one-way biased MSM world is at a tiping point. Stop letting others think for you. Get informed and involved!

"Chuck Norris expected $10million"?! It is precisely that disconnect from reality that led Norris to endorse a meathead like Huckabee.
I'm diappointed by the meager (by r3VOLution standards) haul on MLK Day. However, I'm encouraged by the increase in daily donations, nearly all of which come, not from PAC's, but everyday Americans who have finally found something to believe in: Themselves and each other!
When will the r3VOLution be televised?

you know i am getting so sick of being referred to as a "paultard" its incredibly disrespectful and immature. I support Ron Paul 100% but only because I have done my research and actually know whats going on. I would consider myself to be fairly educated on all of the candidates and I am fed up with the way this country is going. Something tells me that alot of Paul supporters feel the same, and are normal Americans just like me not "anti-government Nazis" like I keep reading about. I love my country and I support government because without it we would be in a heap of trouble. However the way our government is currently going we will still be in trouble if it isn't fixed. And finally I don't know of a single Ron Paul supporter that i have read comments from or talked to personally that calls other supporters Rudytards or miketards etc. so maybe you should take a look at your own issues and leave these "normal" people alone. oh and while you are at it maybe do a little research on your own candidates

Thank you for the article. I have no doubt the longer Ron Paul is in this race, the more people he will attract to his campaign.
As soon as people hear him speak, and are educated about his ideas and positions; they convert.
A long hard battle to the convention is in Ron Paul's favor. He has the cash to stay in it for the long haul.
It reminds me of Agatha Christie's Ten Little Indians.. and then there was one.

Now u know..the MLK moneybomb was made possible by over 5000 new donors, at 10 dollars each...Go Paul Go!

Poor Jeff, still lost in your ignorance. All you hear from the "other" candidates is mindless government speak. Your brainwashed pal. Open your mind. Turn off your TV and read the facts that Ron Paul speaks of daily.
Dr. Paul wins every debate, every debate poll, every fundraising effort, etc. His message is consistent and unwavering because it's pure and constitutional.

I am amazed how easy it is to convince people to vote for Ron Paul. "Convince" may not even be a good choice of words because his message does all the work for you. I have personally convinced about 5-10 people myself so far.
I have never voted republican before and neither have most of the people I have won over. The only thing standing in his way is the fact that most people don’t know who he is. Many people are Ron Paul supporters, but they just don't realize it yet. Spread the word! You owe it to yourself.
The reason Ron Paul supporters are so “fervent” is because many of us have waited most of our lives for a candidate like him. We are almost in disbelief that a person with his platform and integrity still exists. Don’t lose this golden opportunity America.
His appeal to the nation as a whole will be much broader than his appeal to just the republican base. This man cannot lose to the other contenders on a national stage. When he speaks next to the other candidates it is very apparent who is speaking with substance and who is delivering one-liners, political rhetoric, and false promises. Ron Paul is the only candidate with the combination of honesty and vision in this race.
Please quit voting for the lesser evils and make a stand for principle for once! Only when we are unrelenting in our insistence for positive change will we ever achieve a government that will truly represent the people.

This is what it should be reported in Faux News if they like him "fair"...
Funny how Ron Paul got 2nd in Nevada and his picture was not among the candidates but Guiliani;s was who got 4th or 5th I believe. It is almost "comical" now how shamelessly biased they are. That was the last time I saw that channel.
Americans apparently are too set in their ways to take the time to discover there is a man who can and would lead us to a better place.
But alas, there are too many who think like sheep and will do what everyone else does: Voting, not based on who will implement needed change, but on popularity, looks, religion and other reasons have brought us to where we are.
If anyone wants to stop the insanity, vote for Ron Paul

The establishment doesn't want Pauls message to be heard. Small government no income tax, because he really means it. It amazes me how much control they have over mainstream media. My husband and I have give three times to Ron Paul's campaign. I am a precinct captain of two precincts in my state. I have bought (small advertisements) in my local newspapers for the coming primary in my state. I go to rally's and mailed out personal letters to my neighbors. This is how important I feel about Ron Paul's message. I really don't have the time but I AM MAKING THE TIME. Why? Because I know it's important for my son and my grandchild's future. We need Ron Paul and we need his message to resonate through the halls of Congress and the Executive Branch. Jeff,
You have a serious problem. No, not your lack of functioning brain cells, nor your shrill aping of the malodorous message pushed by media moguls. It's your government. (It doesn't work for the people, it works against the people.)
There's a famous picture of a German housewife burning stacks of billion mark notes in her homes fireplace because the paper bills gave off more heat than the firewood they could have purchased would have. Keep on listening to the voices on television and we'll see those days again. Sleep, Jeff, sleep. Consume, work, sleep. Lather, rinse, repeat.
The freedom you have to post lame comments on the internet is the product of people far more attuned to the price of Liberty than you seem to be.

Everything. Everything he says makes complete sense.
Our nation has an incredible uphill battle ahead. Every present tension will only compound in the midst of a full-on recession with depression potential.
Ron Paul has been fighting this battle for a long time. We need his leadership now more than ever. It's do or die for the Constitution. True freedom is on the line. If you can't see that, then you don't know how to envision it because you've been so brainwashed by the current system of government.
It's not about the ravings of a few "nut-cases". It's the truth. We all feel it in our core.
The system is rotten. The Constitution has been hacked and our paper money is nothing but spam.

His anti-war message will make life difficult for Hillary Clinton, by drawing away the most pacifist elements of the Democratic base. But it’s on the economics side where I think he could make the biggest impact. In an election year in which bigger government, higher taxes, and protectionism seem to have so much momentum, Paul’s economics may be just what is needed to rebalance the debate in favor of growth.
Lastly, Ron Paul is the only one who will get the support of gun owners, pro-lifers, and pro-civil liberties anti-war liberals, hence he's the only Republican who can beat a Democrat and the liberal media knows this! Please consider voting for Ron Paul.
Here is an intelligent, sincere politician who has the courage to say and do what is right for 'The People', not the giant corporations that have such a hold on our government. Dr. Paul has restored my hope for America.
Please walk your block asking people to consider Ron Paul. Thanks!

Why did I donate to Ron Paul?
Because I am scared of what America has become.
Because I believe he is the one true presidential candidate that is not a pandering liar.
Because he is the only politician who is willing to speak the truth about the IRS being a criminal agency, about the War in Iraq being a lie and a travesty that must be stopped, about our civil rights being taken away by the Patriot Act and the National ID, and about the looming economic depression.
But most of all, I donated to Ron Paul because he is my hero and I love him for standing up for us all and saying what is on our minds. I believe he is the one true man fighting for our country and he will do everything in his power to give it back to us.
I donated to Ron Paul because I shudder to think what the future holds if he does not become President.

Anyway, yes, I'm still having a good laugh at all of your expense. Here's a great call showing how a rational person should deal with a crazed Ron Paul fan. Gunney Bob is my new hero.
Remember, Lincoln evil, Paul good. Got it? Now put on your tinfoil hat and drink your kool aid.

I pray to God we get Ron into the White House. And it sickens me to see the obvious lack of coverage in the media on him. That shows desparation
on behalf of the media moguls.
It will backfire on them. I see the media in a new light now, or should i say a new dark. My Wife and i will be at the voting booth for super tuesday. : )

Thank you for real news. I have to search the internet for any news on Ron Paul. Ron Paul coming in second in Nevada should have had huge coverage but with most of the media it was like it didn't happen.

You haven't seen anything yet! 1.8 million was great and Dr. Paul needs it, but just wait until the rEVOLution starts getting our tax refunds back!!!! Come on George...where's that $700-800 stimulus pkg you were talking about. That's my next money bomb contribution!!!! Thanks for your support!

Once again, the Sun shows itself to be one of the few ethical media establishments left.

I tell everyone who ask me about Ron Paul, I have joined the Eureka, CA meet up group.
I have "Ron Paul, ya'll" on my car. Written in shoe polish. I also have a Ron Paul for PResident-2008 bumper sticker.
I have bumperstickers and slim jims that tell who Ron Paul is. I ask everyone "Are you registered to vote? If they say no, I hand them a registeration card I got at the post office.
I took someone to register as a Republican...yuck! so he could vote for Ron Paul in the primary.
I did the same thing (re-register as a repup, for same reason) while I was doing that there was a line at the registration office of people doing the same thing:)
We are waking up, it's not too late register to vote and if you "just don't care anymore" vote for Ron Paul!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's all :)

Some opinions are that Ron Paul will need another $150M in his coffers to get elected. Well, how convenient, that Mr Bush provided an economic stimulus package to bribe everybody. Lets stimulate the Paul campaign by sending our bribe checks to his support. Checks are $600 for each person, thus we will need 250,000 people to donate their checks. This should do it. It's the literal cost of freedom folks. Google Amero, Trilateral commission, NWO, PNAC, ect... do the research. Go Ron 2008!

If the Ron Paul campaign teaches thinking Americans anything, it will teach them how slanted are their news sources. It is my hope that young Americans take back their nation, the one founded on the Constitution, that they continue their efforts long after the campaign of 08 is over.
I also hope every student of journalism studies how the media whores were bought, and vows never to serve power rather than truth.

Today's the 24 Jan 2008. ONLY six days ago, did I even HEAR (for the FIRST time) about some (no disrespect, sir) "Ron Paul" who was runing for president. Well...hasn't caused too much of a change, in my family's life, no not at all. Just changed the party I'm votin' for, got my brother interested in voting (first time in almost two decades) also it caused my 18 year old to make the primary deadline. Just for the record, I'm a vet, used to fly for S.A.C. command. Come on vets, do YOUR homework!, I did. Congressman Ron Paul's winning this election will be formost (in my daily prayer). Both God and America need him.
It's either: pro-constitution, or: pro-death. Take YOUR choice.
Thank-you, Congressman Paul, for having the intestinal fortitude to run. Thanks to each supporter that has decided to take your shades off, wake up, smell the coffee and (by God's grace and mercy) together we will see America through this "storm" that's
a-brewin'. "Give me liberty or give me death".
(Sound familiar?)
God Bless all.

I love how hard the media works to pretend Ron Paul doesn't exist. He's up against an amazing set of special interest groups that want to stop him. Honesty scares them!!!

Interesting article, Jason, but Why are people pouring so much money into Ron Paul's campaign?

First of all, thank-you Sun for actually reporting news. Next thank-you Americans who actually care about Liberty (I was starting to think I was all alone), and thank-you Ron Paul for delivering the message of Liberty.
Next, Dr. Paul is the messenger, not the message. Do not let this fight end with him. The Libertarian Party has been fighting this fight for 30 years, and growing every day. Let's get Dr. Paul the Republican nomination, but succeed or fail, on election day, vote for liberty from the top of the ticket all the way down. The LP is running liberty minded candidates for all levels of office. Google the Libertarian Party, and become involved in your state! Dr. Paul will need help if elected, and if not, don't send him back to Congress empty-handed, let's elect some help for him! Go Ron Paul! Go Liberty movement!

There we go again! It never stops amazing me how some people only hear what they want to hear. Ron Paul hates Lincoln? When on earth did Ron Paul ever say he hated Lincoln, he just disagreed on how the slaves were set free. Second, "Ron Paul blames America for the 9/11 attack." this is total BS, he said our policies are too blame for the attack not the American people. Read up on "Confessions of an Economic hitman" it will explain some of the reason Americans are hated. It seems the only people who are clueless in the world are the Americans. That's because the media spoon feeds us what they think we want to hear. Welcome to Fascism, or should I say Corportism. Ron Paul is the only one who speaks the truth. If you disagree with him that's ok, but to make up false stuff about him, your no better than the rest of our Crooked politicans!
