BOCA RATON, Fla. -- "I don't want our heads down,'' Rudy Giuliani told his crowd here, with the former mayor of New York promising lower taxes and a revived economy, a bigger military and greater security for all. "I want our heads up.’’

“Rudy, you did it in New York,’’ a woman called out.

“I did that in New York,’’ he said.

"Yes you did,’’ she echoed.

That was Mary Colombo, a retiree who first started coming to Florida as a "snowbird'' in 1989 -- "always went back to vote for Rudy'' -- and settled here in 2000, in Wynmoor, a retirement community in Coconut Creek. She joined a couple hundred other mostly elderly people filling a small, stuffy and warm chandeliered room of a Boca Raton hotel where Giuliani staged an appearance and a press conference before tonight's debate.

And this is the part of Florida where Giuliani hopes to build a winning vote in the Republican primary on Tuesday. With his campaign targeting 23 counties throughout the state -- running a line from Southwest Florida and up the I-4 corridor to Jacksonville, the three big counties of Southeast Florida, Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade are his anchor.

With voters like Colombo: "I am from New York originally, and what he did for New York, we got to ride the subways without getting robbed... You know what they call that? Fascist.''

This retired Republican lived for 45 years in Elmhurst, in Brooklyn, and she has not yet cast her vote in the early-voting or absentee balloting widely available here. She plans to spend election day turning out her neighbors to vote for Giuliani.

"I vote in Wynmoor because I push my neighbors to vote.’’

I wonder how many old people in Florida the GOPer Prez candidates have scared this past week?

Silva, she's been coming to Florida since 1898? Did she vote for Roosevelt in NYC? Teddy Roosevelt? Exactly how old is this woman? The Swamp is so riddled with errors you often wonder if there's any editing going on at all.

Between this and Frank James' sentence fragments I'm really starting to wonder about you guys.

I seriously doubt that that the woman quoted started "wintering" in Florida in 1898.

Colombo must be incredibly old. 1898, huh?

Wow "snowbird in 1898!" She sure is old.

Copyboy,

I'd say they do a heck of lot better than that GOPer propaganda rag that you sometimes write for.

I love it with the Republicans.

The US is already spending more money on its military that the rest of the world COMBINED. Even now, we aren't paying for our current situations.

The Republicans are trying to accomplish what OBL hasn't been able to do. Bankrupt the US!

At what point is too much money TOO MUCH MONEY.

DDE, "Beware of the military industrial complex."

Rudy is in southern FL to avoid the cold and work on his tan.

And, I wish we were all as PERFECT as Jeff. What a utopia we would live in then!

You owe it to the NY city firefighters in their video exposing Rudy Giuiliani as fraud. They are asking you to please not vote for him:

The only thing Rudy "did in New York" is cheat on two wives.

Rudy should be the GOP nominee. Look at the facts objectively. Here are 5 great reasons to vote for Rudy:
