COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina Lt. Governor André Bauer, a popular politician from an voter-valuable Republican stronghold, has endorsed the candidacy of former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee.

Huckabee's recent endorsements have mostly come courtesy of C-list celebrity backers – the former governor is set to appear this afternoon with Chuck Norris and the wrestler Ric Flair, for example. However, Bauer's nod is surely a boost for the campaign, which has signed on few endorsements from sitting elected officials in the Palmetto State.

Before becoming lieutenant governor in 2003, Bauer was a state senator, representing Lexington, a growing, Republican-heavy community just outside Columbia, the capital. Lexington is the seat of Lexington County, where nearly 72 percent of voters went for George Bush in 2004, making it the second most-Republican-voting county in the state that year. In 2000, George Bush beat McCain in the primary there by almost 3 to 2.

Bauer is the youngest lieutenant governors in the country; and according to his MySpace page, he is single, a Pisces and has 859 friends.
(Huckabee is a Virgo, meaning he and Bauer should get along great, at least according to Astrology.com: "What's the best aspect of the Virgo-Pisces relationship? It's their complementary and harmonious attitude toward one another.")

It is very sad to see desperate Fred Thompson attempting to hide his weak accomplishments and old age by expressing himself forcefully against Huckabee!

This is a huge endorsement.
The Huckabee campaign most likely will get a big boost from this. They're probably jumping up and down celebrating when they got this endorsement. Mike Huckabee is now the front runner in South Carolina. I was thinking about voting for Huckabee or Thompson. But now there's no doubt I will vote for Huckabee.

But is it REALLY a bigger endorsement than the BASS fishing guy?

Ric Flair is good, but what about Jim "JR" Ross, King Jerry Lawler and the coup de grace of endorsements, the Immortal Hulk Hogan?

Fred Thompson has no chance of winning and he knows this. He's doing so poorly in the polls he will certainly drop out after the South Carolina Primary. If you're a true conservative vote for Governor Huckabee.
The only reason why Thompson is in the race is to take votes away from Huckabee so his friend John McCain can win South Carolina.

SOMETHING YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT JOHN MCCAIN

The group's organizer, Jerry Kiley, who said he also is a Vietnam veteran, said in a telephone phone interview that he has been trying for years to spread what he said is the truth about McCain's record.

"John McCain has created this myth that he is a hero and he is not," Kiley said from his home in Garnerville, N.Y.

Kiley's group cites as evidence a May 1973 U.S. News & World Report article by McCain in which he said he realized, on his third or fourth day of captivity after his plane was shot down in 1967, that his knee was so swollen the blood might pool in it and kill him. So he offered to give military information to his captors in exchange for medical treatment.

In the article, McCain said he told the story to make the point that the North Vietnamese only gave medical treatment to POWs if they thought they were going to get something in return. He did not say that he went through with his end of the deal.

Kiley claims information McCain gave to the North Vietnamese led to an increase in U.S. planes being shot down.

"THE REVEREND HUCKABEE SPEAKS"

I HEAR THE VOICES, THE VOICES SAY DOWN WITH "A WOMANS RIGHT TO PRIVACY" DOWN WITH "A WOMANS RIGHT TO VOTE" GOD DOESN'T WANT TO CHANGE HIS WORD IN THE CONSTITUTION. THE VOICES SAYS HE WANTS ME, YES, ME, THY HOLY GREATNESS TO CHANGE THE CONSTITUTION, NOT JUST AMEND IT BUT CHANGE IT BACK TO TALIBAN TIME.

SO LET US ALL PRAY, THAT MLK DAY NEXT WEEK OJ CALLS ANOTHER WITNESS.

LET US PRAY FOR ANY DISTRACTIONS RELATING TO EAVESDROPPING, WIRETAPPING, OSAMA BIN LADEN, THE IRAQ WAR, THE AFGANISTAN WAR, CONGRESSIONAL SUBPOENAS UNANSWERED. LET US PRAY THAT KARL ROVE CAN CONTINUE HIS MASTER PLAN AGAINST HILLARY, OR MR. HAFRICA OBAMA.

LET US PRAY SOUTH CAROLINAS!

Shelley Perry, you are lower than pondscum and should be ashamed of yourself for posting that false smear that's being circulated around South Carolina about John McCain.

Did you know that John Kiley never served with John McCain and was not a POW? Did you know that he also was behind some of the untrue things said about John Kerry in 2004? Did you know that he's the ONLY member of Vietnam Veterans against McCain? Did you know the group behind the smear has been connected to Mike Huckabee's campaign?

Here's the straight talk from Orson Swindle a FORMER POW WHO WAS IN THE POW CAMP WITH MCCAIN!

“Nothing could be further from the truth,” Swindle said. “I know because I was there. The truth is, the North Vietnamese offered John McCain early release, and he refused.”

Here's the New York Times, not some campaign flier you got from Huckabee, with the facts.

Here's the truth from the New York Times: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/01/17/us/politics/17carolina.html?em&ex=1200718800&en=1a5dcd3ed50dc5c7&ei=5087%0A

I honestly cannot understand how people like you, Shelley Perry, look at yourselves in the mirror after you do something like this. This man was beaten regularly for four years by his captors for you and every American and you reward his sacrifice by lying about him in a political campaign.

"Shelley," make sure you note this passage:

Vietnam Veterans Against McCain is led by Gerard W. Kiley, who led a similar effort against Senator John Kerry’s Democratic presidential campaign in 2004. Reached Wednesday at his home in Garnerville, N.Y., in Rockland County, Mr. Kiley said that he was effectively the only member of his group and that “we really don’t have any money to speak of.” Mr. Kiley said he thought Mr. McCain gave up too much information to the North Vietnamese and was wrongly claimed as a war hero.

Mr. Kiley, 61, a Vietnam veteran, said that he had worked for the past four decades for a major New York corporation that he declined to name.

The "information" Kiley is referring to is the starting lineup of the Green Bay Packers that McCain gave as his squadron mates. All of this is detailed in "Faith of My Fathers."

Remember, the one that wins SC is the one that is most likely to win the nomination, so we will know on Saturday, and from the look of things it will be Mike Huckabee.

John, what makes you think it will be Mike Huckabee? There are polls that favor both him and McCain. The vast majority of the polls were wrong in New Hampshire (Hillary won, not Obama) and in Michigan (Romney won, not McCain). Seems to me that this one is more closely divided than either of those contests.

We have been voting for well over a quarter of a century in every single election; local and national. Mike Huckabee is the first candidate that we have ever given a campaign contribution. We have given now several times and will give again. He has been smeared constantly by the media (ESPECIALLY Fox News, Sean, Rush) and by the way, I am a FORMER DITTO HEAD, yet - Mike Huckabee is still number one nationally. Why is that? Because there are real people like us that do real research before casting our vote and we KNOW the TRUTH. WE WILL BE VOTING FOR MIKE HUCKABEE!

Governor Huckabee was re-elected until his term limits expired in Arkansas. Do you really think that is because he was a bad Governor???? Get real. Governor Huckabee was named one the BEST FIVE GOVERNORS IN AMERICA by Time Magazine. I have relatives all over Arkansas and I know for a fact they all loved him as their Governor and will be voting for him as President.

Excerpt from Dick Morris article:

Huckabee is a Fiscal Conservative
By Dick Morris

In Arkansas, the income tax when he took office was 1 percent for the poorest taxpayers and 7 percent for the richest, exactly where it stood when he left the statehouse 11 years later. But, in the interim, he doubled the standard deduction and the child care credit, repealed capital gains taxes for home sales, lowered the capital gains rate, expanded the homestead exemption and set up tax-free savings accounts for medical care and college tuition.
Most impressively, when he had to pass an income tax surcharge amid the drop in revenues after Sept. 11, 2001, he repealed it three years later when he didn’t need it any longer.
He raised the sales tax one cent in 11 years and did that only after the courts ordered him to do so. (He also got voter approval for a one-eighth-of-one-cent hike for parks and recreation.)
He wants to repeal the income tax, abolish the IRS and institute a “fair tax” based on consumption, and opposes any tax increase for Social Security

Dick Morris, a former Clinton aide, supports him. That should tell you something...

This may be the first year that SC will not select the eventual nominee. Those that believe otherwise are drinking the media Kool Aid (mainstream or liberal? Irrelevant. They'll continue to egg on the infighting just for the ratings). Things have changed, and with the compression of the primary schedule, old rules do not apply. Nothing will be settled Saturday in SC, and nothing will be settled on Super Tuesday. We've got a long road ahead...

So keep lining up the C-list endorsements. The whackier the better too (free publicity).

Did you hear Romney got the nod from Perot???!! ;)
