COLUMBIA, S.C. -- The quotable, powerful dean of the New York congressional delegation, Charlie Rangel, was in South Carolina stumping for Hillary Clinton today and boy was he missing Harlem.
Asked if he was alarmed by a poll showing Barack Obama winning only ten percent of the white Democratic vote, Rangel shot back in an affably combative way: "I'm not a South Carolinian --I don’t know if the goddam Civil War is over here or not—what are u asking me? I'm not a historian."
Nor was he too impressed with recent migration of New York retirees to the state.
"Boy, you should appreciate New York," he told a reporter in a chilly parking lot at Benedict College. "You take New York for granted, you know, elevators don’t work, people don’t show up on time, there are no schedules, you don't know where you are going next, hey, it's your life —hey, that’s New York. New Yorkers, old timers, are leaving to relax down here – if I retired down here I would lose my goddam mind!"

the low percent of whites voting for obama there AFTER HILLIARY PLAYED the RACE card stands in stark contrast to the WHITES WHO VOTED OVERWHELMINGLY FOR OBAMA IN IOWA - A STATE THAT IS FAR LESS INTEGRATED THAN S.C. (IOWA is 98% white)
i guess hilLIARy's fear tactics, race-baiting, distortion tactics and other negative campaigning is working on whites because too many whites are letting hilLIARy get away with it - maybe blacks are now too smart to fall for these classic clinton tactics anymore - except for sellouts like rangel that is
I wish white folks could be as smart as the black voters in south carolina who are no longer falling for hilLIARy's money and spin machine

Bottom Line:
Like all of you. I know that health care is the most critical, and important issue facing the American people. Now, and in the coming elections. And like the vast majority of the American people, I want HR 676 (Medicare For All) passed into law NOW! "Single payer, Tax Supported, Not For Profit, True Universal Health Care" free for all as a right. Like every other developed country in the world has. See: http://www.house.gov/conyers/news_hr676.htm
“HR 676:
For church goers: less money to insur. companies and more to the church- lots more.
Srs on Medicare: save way over $100/wk. Because no more medigap, long term care & dental insur. needed. No more drug bills.”
But if we the American people fail to bring enough pressure on our current politicians to get HR 676 passed into law before the elections. We will have to identify, and replace all the politicians standing in the way of passage of HR 676. And, I think the best first place to start is with the politicians that blocked the bipartisan SCHIP bills for the kids. Passed by congress twice.
But what about the President. It was Bush after all that blocked the bipartisan SCHIP bill passed by congress to assure more health coverage for Americas kids. So which of the presidential hopefuls do I think will be most supportive of implementing the demand of the majority of the American people to have HR 676 (Medicare For All) passed into law immediately!
We have some very fine presidential candidates who would make good presidents. But none of the top Presidential candidates directly support HR 676, the only true Universal Health Care plan. So I am supporting Hillary Clinton. She is the only top candidate that has ever actually fought for universal health care before.
I have enormous admiration, and respect for Hillary Clinton. She fought a pitched battle against overwhelming odds back in 1993. To prevent this disastrous health care crisis that is now devastating the American people, and America. She fought so hard for the American people that she risk almost completely destroying her husbands presidency. I haven't forgotten her heroic effort. If any Presidential hopeful for universal health care deserves my support, it's her.
Also, if we the American people fail to bring enough pressure on our government to give us HR 676 which we all so desperately need NOW! Then we will need the most skilled politician we can get on our side to broker the best health care plan for the American people that we can get. Though it will be less than we need, and less than we deserve. The politician I think to best do this is Hillary Clinton. The Clinton's are probably the most skilled politicians in American history.
The insurance industry, and medical industry that has been ripping you off, and killing you has given Hillary Clinton so much money because they fear her. They have also given Barack Obama so much money because they fear Hillary Clinton. They think they can manipulate Barack Obama against the best interest of the American people better than they can manipulate Hillary Clinton. There is no race issue with Hillary Clinton. The Clinton's are the poster family for how African Americans want white people to be towards African Americans.
As always, African Americans are suffering, and dieing in this health care crisis at a much higher rate than any other group in America. The last time there was any significant drop in the African American death rate was when Bill Clinton was president.
My fellow Americans, you are dieing needlessly at an astounding rate. In higher numbers than any other people in the developed world. Rich, and poor a like. Insured, and uninsured. Men, women, children, and babies. And we the American people must stop it. And fix it NOW! Keep Fighting!!! Never! give up hope. There are millions of lives at stake. Bless you all... You are doing great!

tom,
Obama played the race card. Race never came up in this campaign intil the Obama campaign called Hillary a racist for praising Lyndon Johnson. It's been in all of the newspapers and TV news... have you been living in a cave?
Or is it that you're unaware that Lyndon Johnson actually did play the crucial role in passing the '64 Civil Rights Act?
Obama alone made this campaign about racial division -- about "us vs. them" -- to try to win the Black support he was lacking. The "race-baiting, distortion tactics and other negative campaigning" begins and ends with BO. In the process he's been driving away White Liberals. It's blowing-up in his face.

tommy the "Independent",
You need to get over your Clinon derangement.
Ten years and four days ago, on January 21, 1998, allegations of Bill Clinton's affair with Monica Lewinsky first became public via the Washington Post. The president was later impeached by the House when it was discovered that his Oval Office blow jobs resulted in the deaths of nearly 4,000 American soldiers and cost over two trillion dollars.
Thank god his successor restored integrity to the White House, huh?

When I listen to he radio or read the newspapers I realize that the BUSH CRIME FAMILY HAS finally done to white PEOPLE what you have done to black people FOR YEARS AND. That is took away YOUR, JOBS, INSURANCE, Retirement, HEALTHCARE AND YOUR RIGHTS.
Well guess what!!!!!!!!!!!.
.Black people have NEVER HAD ANY OF THOSE things to miss, THANKS TO MOST OF YOU.
Which mean WE CAN’T MISS SOMETHING WE NEVER HAD. So, If it’s a Democrat or Republican makes no difference FOR US ITS JUST ANOTHER DAY.
Here is what I have been suggesting to my family and friends. That we give white people A TASTE OF WHAT WE HAVE SUFFERED for 4 hundred years,
ALL BLACK PEOPLE SHOULD turns up the heat on you so you will never forget, and stay home or VOTE REPUBLICIAN. .

MJ - you believe our HilLIARy fantasy and I'll know the truth
I'll admit Obama took the bait but HilLIARy played the race card, she played it more than once and she played it from the bottom of the deck
anyone who believes otherwise has gullibility issues on the scale of thinking Spider Man is real - so don't waste your breath with your hilLIARy talking points, MJ - go marry Peter Parker
I'll take the truth over your HilLIARy fantasy world any day

"I'll take the truth..."
Posted by: tom | January 25, 2008 10:25 PM
Well, I suppose that's a first step. Now you have to learn to recognize the truth.
Here's a hint: simply babbling that HC "played the race card, she played it more than once and she played it from the bottom of the deck" will not change the facts. Sorry.

WHAT...??? BILL'S not stumping for HILL today?? Seems to me MS. Clinton has a handle on it with that evil, cackling tongue of hers...why are these people coming to her aid??? But here's the main reason I'm writing this: Do any of you Obama supporters out there know where the picture of Obama was taken where the other people in the pic had their hands over their heart but Obama DIDN'T? I heard on CSPAN or some reliable network that for that particular occasion it wasn't required. My son seems to think it was at a Harkin dinner in Iowa and Barack was getting ready to give a speech...my boss is sending this BS around at work trying to distort the maaning of the picture, or maybe she, with her college educated self, is so gullible that she really believes it!!! I thought she was a racist : now I KNOW IT!!! Help please if you can, so that I can straighten these people out at work Monday that she showed this picture to, and THANK YOU if you can help!

I called the people in a little town next to mine who were the caucus leaders for Obama on caucus night here in Iowa and this lady gave me a website to go to to get all of the straight FACTS!!! It's snopes.com and you can get all of the misinformation that's floating around straightened out. I hope that people (most of whom, I hope, check further and don't just take things off the Internet and run with them) will avail themselves of this website to check things and verify if what they've read is TRUE or not.

When an old hack politician
like Rangel supports someone, it is firsthand evidence of something wrong with the candidate.
