The Swamp

by Mark Silva

Sometime tonight, or more likely perhaps Saturday or early Sunday morning, the 150,000th comment from readers will be posted in the Swamp.

This is cause for great cheer here in the Swamp, because the 100,000th comment was posted on Oct. 2, 2007, one year and nine months into the life of this newsblog.

The 150,000th comment arrives just a little over four months after No.100,000.

Do the math. Life is good.

We have, on certain days during the past few weeks, recorded more than 100,000 page views of the Swamp on a single day. We did today -- 175,000 in fact. And 284,000 on Monday These are records here.

And, while most who pause to read here move on without comment, many stay to share their views. We appreciate all of you, readers and reader-commentators alike. And It's all on the rise: Readership and commentary alike. And for all of that, the Swamp thanks you.

Mark!

Just don't tell us it was Kenny Bunkport again!

'Hollywood' Bunkport was impossible for a while after that.

BTW;
On the serious side; Can't the timeliness of the postings improve? And the lost postings are pretty aggravating too.

Seems to me faster posting times would equal more overall postings.

Morris,
Good Idea. I'll just stay up all night long and clear your comments. Put in 150 and you've got it, friend.

ha ha ha

Sleep well

It means that yahoo's with the brains of a tick who with access to a computer can post their stupidity for the whole world to witness.

As can the functionally illiterate - obviously.

The Swamp rules, even if 50% of the posters sound like they drool.

It t'aint always pretty, not always civil, and certainly the juvenile responses get a little old, but all in all, I'm raising a gin &tonic and toast the Swamp! (what say you C. Morris? haha, gin lovers unite!)

And I can help but ponder what percentage of the total posts were from varied and frquent sparring between the John E's (we'll call them the Sharks) and the Paulo/JohnD's (Jets)?
Just musing...

And Tim..just go to bed, you'll feel better in the morn..

Congratulations, Swamp!

Silva,

C.Morris may help you [clear the comments] for free, if you offer him free universal health insurance....just a thought.

Paulo

Mark,

Re-elect Kenny Bunkport!

"It means that yahoo's with the brains of a tick who with access to a computer can post their stupidity for the whole world to witness."

Case in point...

Gotta love this.

150 K is but 1,135 away -- revised count here, eyes were blurry this morning, really blurry. I call Sunday.

Congrats to the swamp and swamp rats. With friends like these...who needs enimas?

Paulo,
Good idea, if it's for the rest of country, too!

No surprise that "the 150,000th comment arrives just a little over four months after No.100,000."

I've noticed an increase in the tossing-red-meat posts lately... the ones that are sure to be instantly fooded with hundreds of coments by activists, campaign workers, nut cases, or all of the above. Most recent examples would the "Chelea Pimp-out" and "Obama Mania" posts.

If qantity equals quality, you should be very proud of yourself, Silva.

Yes...lets leave these posts to the qualified....
Cue the crickets!

Erick,

Most of the drool comes from the left. - John E is the prime example.

C Mo,

For the record, the Bunkports and I have moved to India to find nirvana and be at one with the universe. Although I've been in the bathroom ever since we got here. "Hollywood" seems like a distant memory, and one day I should hope to be among the people again. I'd like to use this opportunity to thank John D for his warnings about methane gas and his ventilation tips. Crazy Joe, the vent works fine, and I am once again enjoying my breathing exercises.

John E,

Thank you for the vote of confidence, however I am urging my delegates to support Pat Paulson who will not be elected nor will he serve.

Scary Terry,

You cheerlead for the team that has given us two wars, a tanking economy and a $10 Trillion dollar debt....I may be drooling but you're insane

And most of the bloviating of dishonesty, twisting of people's words and name-calling comes from the "right" - Geographically Challenged John D is Exhibit A.

My guess is though, that if Ron Paul drops out, it will take just a wee bit longer to get to 200K.
