The Swamp

by Frank James

In case you didn't get the point yesterday that Sen. Barack Obama really, really likes his friend Gov. Deval Patrick's way with words, here's another example, courtesy of Jake Tapper at ABC News.

Honestly... what do we expect from somebody who has yet to offer substance to their campaign? Can anybody explain to me why you're supporting Obama? Anybody? Oh yeah... and the answer can't be "because he's not George Bush!"

Hmm...a black man caught stealing. Looks like the left has been duped again by their Utopian fantasies. Only true conservatives understand what these people are like.

...and this continued non-sense is supposed to make me want to vote for evil Hillary or Crazy old warmonger, John McCain/Bush?

Give it up, you're beating a dead horse at the knee's of two camps (McCain, Hillary) who are scared to death of Obama because their both losing to him...badly.

If anyone is still wondering why Crazy McCain is joining in with the Hillary camp with baseless attacks on Senator Obama, here's why.

Here a sample poll of Presidential head-to-heads for the general, from SurveyUSA.

Virginia. 2/15-17. 554 registered voters. MoE 4.2%

McCain 45%
Obama 51%

McCain 48%
Clinton 45%

Iowa. 2/15-17. 563 registered voters. MoE 4.2%

McCain 41%
Obama 51%

McCain 52%
Clinton 41%

These results continue to show Obama beating the snot out of Warmonger John McCain/Bush.

You're killing me Obama! I am a supporter; I am not and have never been blind to you, but your biggest asset is your credibility. PLEASE respond better. Please don't brush it off again. Please admit that you were wrong, AND THEN, say something that covers, in a blanket way, that you cannot account for how many times you may have used a line or two --that Clinton can not either, but that you have authored books, most of your speeches etc. Maybe get real about the reality of speechwriters. Whatever you do --you cannot answer each individual instance piecemeal because if it is a pattern, you are dead in the water.

And lastly, put up images of Clinton using Bill Clinton's words like msnbc nightly did!

This is great news for Senator Obama. After running for president for more than a year, this is all the mainstream media can come up with to attack him. Well done, Senator. And hey, if you don't want your words to be scrutinized, try lying over 900 times to start a war, because that seems to be A-OK.

THAT! ARE YOU KIDDING ME? THAT WAS NOT EVEN WORTH BRINGING UP. COME WITH A LITTLE MORE.

Disgusting! Absolutely disgusting! I hope everyone rises up, including real conservatives, to reject and condemn the filth posted by Mr. Hartsock.

What a joker this guy Obama is! Why the heck did this not come out before Feb 5th?! I am pissed. If I had known this I wouldn't have voted for him. What good is this info to me now.

Hillary does the same thing without attribution. See http://abcnews.go.com/Video/playerIndex?id=4308238

This is so stupid that even Bill Clinton's former speechwriter David Kusnet said Hillary's plagiarism accusations against Barack Obama are bogus. Enough said.

Here's your plagerism!

Here's what John Edwards said at the New Hampshire debate--the night before Clinton got teary-eyed and passionate:

"But that's just an example of why this battle is personal for me. You know, we need a president who believes deeply -- in here -- believes deeply in this battle".

"And it is personal for me. When I see these lobbyists roaming around Washington, D.C., taking all the politicians to cocktail parties, I mean, the picture I get in my head is my father and my grandmother going in that mill every day so that I could have the chances I've had".

And here's Hillary's direct lifting of this effective "personal for me" line THE VERY NEXT DAY! Watch for the blatant plagiarism of Edwards's "personal for me" at :025 or so. I think this proves the slightly inauthentic quality to this moment as well.

Listen to Hillary's "words".
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MVlwH7-05Fk

...and don't forget, just last week John McCain/Bush stole Obama's "fired up and ready to go" line in one of his speechs.

These two old time Washington crooks (Hillary, McCain) make me sick and they're only proving to me more and more everyday that I'm right when I say that I am voting for Senator Obama in Wisconsin today.

Steve, if you're really interested in the substance of Obama's campaign you might try looking on his website or reading one of the posts from "BrwnSknGurl" who has already done the research for you.

Sam, I'm sure glad I'm not a true conservative. I'll take the lefty vision over your dystopian world any time.

I agree with Jackson, but about John E-- We don't KNOW how people will vote come the fall. Zogby isn't polling the people normally contacted. The TV corporations use the polls to prompt candidate spending--you can TRACK it. The polls are garbage. As are all the 'caucuses' (read: I can't be seen as racist so I'll go to the Obama corner) Obama won. Look at New Hampshire--private voting, versus Iowa--public caucus, sometimes headed by your BOSS! The Obama folks were very strategic picking who would run the caucuses. This is madness. If Obama is borrowing too heavily--then it shows he needs to stop campaigning. He'd get better headines standing up in Congress for stuff other than Nukes, 'clean' coal, and coal gassification. Can he work on getting the government spying on all of us ended? Impeach those bad boys before Condi bombs Iran? That would really differentiate himself from Hilary.

Tom O,

Agree.

What substance is anyone hearing from McCain?

These are campaign speeches, children, in an American election; The most facile and flattering endeavor in the history of the Milky Way.

Why? In our winner take all 'republic' all ya need in 50.1%.

Ahh, another fine example of racist, bigoted, "conservatism".

Hail to the New Chief, Obama!

Holy cats! Obama reused an entire six seconds of a speech given by his friend!

Forget the election, this man needs to be arrested.

"Just Words." Yes, "just words", but are words enough to effect "change"; are "words enough" to fulfill "hope." We have before a man who wants to be President, and to be President, he appeals to the sentiments and desperate ideals of an American people disappointed and tired from, ehe trials of the last eight years. Scrutiny of all the candidates are needed, not just listening to "words", because anyone with a talent for the spoken word can sway the masses to fulfill HIS GOAL - THE OFFICE OF PRESIDENT; THE OFFICE OF POWER. Again, "Power corrupts, absolute power corupts absolutely."

For your info:

"But Obama was quoted using Patrick's language before the Summer of 2007.

"'We hold these truths to be self-evident, all men are created equal.’ Those are just words," Obama was quoted as saying in a March 19, 2007 New Republic story. " ‘I have a dream.’ Just words.”

So....the claim that Patrick an Obama "first" discussed this last Summer does not make sense.

It should also be noted that in addition to the "Yes We Can" slogan that Obama used in 2004, Patrick used in 2006, and Obama uses today, other language from the two clients of political guru David Axelrod has come from both men's mouths.

To wit:

Patrick in June 2006, at the Massachusetts Democratic party convention: "I am not asking anybody to take a chance on me. I am asking you to take a chance on your own aspirations."

Obama one year later, as quoted in USA Today: "I am not asking anyone to take a chance on me. I am asking you to take a chance on your own aspirations."

Just words?....*

"THE SERPENT SPEAKS"

ALL YOU WOULD BE BORROWERS DON'T BELIEVE THE HYPE. HE DIDN'T SAY IT, WE DID.

YOU BORROW WE SPEAK! YOU BORROW WE SPEAK FOR YOU.

DON'T FORGET WE GAVE YOU MONEY, SO LET US SPEAK.

HE SAID, SHE SAID, HE SAID, SHE SAID, JOHN MCCAIN SAID, AND GEORGE BUSH SR. SAID AND THE MEDIA SAID, OH YES, THAT IS WHAT WE SHALL SAY!

"DON'T GET CAUGHT UP IN THE HISTORY MAKING" IT'S NOT A MOVIE STARRING A BLACK MAN AND FEMALE.

"DON'T GET CAUGHT UP IN THE HISTORY MAKING, JUST BECAUSE IT IS A FEMALE"
AND HER LAST NAME IS "CLINTON"

"DON'T GET CAUGHT UP IN THE HISTORY MAKING BECAUSE IT IS WHAT AMERICA DOES"

GET CAUGHT UP IN THE HISTORY MAKING OF A CONTINUED QUAGMIRE AUGMENTATED PARTY THAT DOES NOT WANT YOU TO GET CAUGHT UP IN THE HISTORY MAKING IN AMERICA.

NOW THAT'S JUST STUPITY. HUH!

WHATEVA!

Who cares? They both think similarly and share words as ways of expressing their ideas. They do this sharing consensually. There is no "stealing" or "plagiarizing"
or "copying" involved. JFK did the same thing..ask not what your country can do for you but rather what you can do for your country. Sound familiar? Great thinkers have used borrowed/ repeated phrases from various sources throughout history. It is a sign that they able thinkers. This flap is just senseless nit-picking desperation. Get a grip!!!

Actually Obama and Patrick have worked together on speech writing for a very long time and if you think you're going to spin this crap into votes for Hillary or McCain you're sadly mistaken.

Take your fairytales somewhere else, we're not going to let Republican swiftboat spin screw us into voting for another worthless Republican dictator wannabe this time around.

This is great news for Senator Obama. After running for president for more than a year, this is all the mainstream media can come up with to attack him.

Paul: It won't be great news for the Sen. once they pick up on Larry Sinclair.

Obama and Patrick work together. Patrick wants Obama to use the line. It's no big deal. The Clinton Camp is grasping at straws!

The problem that the crazed Obama sheep don't seem to grasp is that both Hillary and McCain have a record to run on other than what words they may have used from someone else's stump speeches. And let's be clear that McCain or Hillary never used an entire speech as its obvious Obama admittedly did. Obama, however, has no record to run on and is running entirely on his enthusiasm and speechmaking. Words matter, indeed.

John E.,

The poll comparisons of Obama v. McCain and Clinton v. McCain are not telling.

Clinton/Obama v. McCain are so far apart on the issues these stats can mean only two things.

Independents vote on the person, which would mean if they would turn on Hillary, they can turn on Obama, so Obama's lead is not insurmountable.

Or they really vote on issues, which means that the polls are false.

Well, with this video, there is no doubt that Obama doesn't write his own speeches. Which does take away from the power of his message, since he just might be reading of a card or prompter.

Speeches are more powerful when we think the words of the speaker are original.

I think the actual quote is from Oscar Wilde and it is "talent borrows; genius steals,."

I guess this justifies Obama stealing lines from somone else - he's a genius! That makes it all right, and he doesn't want to disappoint his obedient followers, so why not. He's plum out of original inspiration, and of course, he's short on substance, so why not steal words to continue the momentum. Keep Hope alive for the hopeful masses who will make him President; then he can ease up on the borrowing, or is it the stealing?

If you want a good laugh, watch Diane Sawyer try to nail Deval Patrick on this and get progressively pissier as she fails each attempt:

http://rawstory.com/news/2008/Deval_Patrick_I_asked_Obama_to_0219.html

This is SO STUPID!!! I cannot express in words how much I hope this petty attack comes back to bite Hillary! Is this the best she can do??

Steve S, I can tell you exactly why I support Obama. There is no one on either side who can unite both parties like he can. He is helping to get young voters involved in the political process. He has some excellent plans for our economy, particularly reforming the tax code to end tax breaks for companies that ship jobs overseas. Hillary says she'll do this too, but if you do some research, you'll find she's a member of the "friends of India" caucus in the senate. You think she'll follow through? ENOUGH with accusing Obama of having no substance just because he is an excellent speaker and you could fall asleep during one of Hillary's speeches!

We borrow from BANKS we listen to what they say, because we borrow from banks. The Serpent is the bank and borrower is YOU.

TALK IS CHEAP, MONEY TALKS AND A SPEACH JUST WALKS THE TALK.

SO WHEN YOU SPEAK OF BORROWERING, AT THE END OF THE DAY, THE ONLY PERSON THAT BORROWERED ANYTHING IS YOU.

THE SERPENT THANKS YOU FOR YOU QUAGMIRE MINDED THOUGHTS TOWARDS "BORROWERING" ANYTHING IN AMERICA.

Holy crap! What a charlatan! Oh my God! And I thought these speeches were so inspiring!

"And let's be clear that McCain or Hillary never used an entire speech as its obvious Obama admittedly did."

Jeff lies again. It was three lines Jeff, not a whole speech.

Jeff, you are a terrible reflection on the McCain campaign.

Mr. Obama's speeches have been scripted all along.

Vote for Hillary

Hillary=Substance

Obama=Substance Abuse

Jeffy,

We're well aware of John McCain/Bush's "record" and that's why it's going to so much fun crushing his crooked butt in the general election after which you will run away and hide again just like you did when Crazy McCain's campaign went broke this past summer:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0nqtL-P8kzo

I think it's telling of just how bad Obama will crush McCain when one of his gophers like you is spending so much time on here cheerleading for Hillary.

Now that Obama has won Wisconsin, perhaps Hillary's campaign will stop this foolishness.

Google it - you'll find Aaron Sorkin, Sam Seaborn (Bush's Senior Counsel!), Malcolm Gladwell, Oscar Wilde, TS Eliot, Picasso - and that's just the first page!

This argument is dumb and makes the Dems look like a shallow party. Collaboration is the reason, no one has a monopoly on an inspiring turn of a phrase.

What? How am I cheerleading for Hillary? I'm pretty deadset against her in the white house, too. Personally, I could care less which one McCain mows down in the general. They're both knee-jerk leftists with policy positions that would bankrupt the country. You couldn't fit a playing card between the policy differences of Hillary and Obama. That's why their "campaign" is nothing more than a bitter argument over stolen speech lines, race and whose socialized medicine plan is more government controlled.

Stick that up your "crooked butt."

Original words from Obama:

"I will serve my full six year term."

No wonder he "borrows" from others: his own words are lies.

Watch the youtube comparison of the first one, it was nearly the entire speech. It was much more than three lines. It's posted everywhere, but you don't need me to tell you that.

While we're talking about Hillary what's this crap in her latest ads about "she worked the nightshift, too." Where? At the Rose law firm? What night shift did Hillary work on? Was he just playing tetris until 1 AM on one of the office Macs back in 91?

Here's another example of the Clintons stealing Karl Rove's tricks to bring down their own party member and rival, Barack Obama. Someone with the videos available should loop Hillary's outright theft of Obama's phrases and cadences, including her glomping on to the change theme, the fired up, READY to go theme. How about that "READY" word? We want to hear her tell us why she is the better choice, not why she is the meaner choice. What are her legislative successes, rather than her experience in being attacked (and by implication, her record of failures). She should stop attacking Obama and begin selling herself. Yelling that someone is weak does not persuade us that she is strong. Especially as we see how disorganized, chaotic, and broken her campaign is proving to be. The way she has run her campaign indicates how she will fail as commander-in-chief.

do you really think it wise for Hillary to be bringing up ethics???

While all great speech writers borrow from time to time the well tempered phrases of famous orators, they rarely provide attribution during the speech (except in cases where it is clearly meant to acknowledge the character or social stance of the person). I am certain if the media would stop pandering to the Clintons, they will see she and Bill have done the same, and never got any heat over it.....

HIllary is desperate to stop the bleeding.....

I've scoured obama's website and scarfed his liberalism. its just bad policy. Other countries do it and if you want to be like them, then go there. modern day liberalism is not downright unAmerican. Go to Canada.
Tom O. Thank you for your answer. We don't agree, but at least you had a response. McCain has decades of experience with lots of material to show for it. I was a Romney fan because he had a track-record I thought was fantastic, but that didn't go so well for me... or him.
