Henry Hager and Jenna Bush. White House photo.
by Mark Silva
Wedding bells will ring in Texas in 10 weeks, when one of the first twins marries her beau, and First Lady Laura Bush says the president is thrilled about "the son that George never had.''
Jenna Bush and Henry Hager will wed.
Hager is a former staff member of Karl Rove's office in the White House. He is in his final year at the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia. His father, John H. Hager, served as assistant secretary of education in the Bush administration and became chairman of the Republican Party of Virginia. He also is a former lieutenant governor of Virginia.
Jenna Bush is the author of a book about her experiences working in Central America.
"It's going really very well, and I'm so happy for Jenna and for Henry,'' Laura Bush said of the wedding plans, in an interview this morning on CBS's Early Show. "And I think they've really found their soul mates. And that, of course, makes their mother and daddy really happy.''
Dad approves of Henry?
"He's a really good guy,'' the first lady says of the soon-to-be first son-in-law. "He's finally going to be the son that George never had.''

Hmm let's see. Obama gives the child of an aquaintance of Rezko a summer internship and Dyslin Republicans get into a tizzy but when this guy gets an equally unearned position in the White House because his dad is politcally connected Jeff, John D, Paulo, and Bruce stay quiet. I smell a double standard.

I think it would benificial to find out what his middle name is since it is very important to the right wing.

When did the beau's stint in I-Rack end? Surely an able-bodied, smart guy like that would have been the first in line to fight such a noble cause. I mean, he's in favor of our liberties and all, isn't he?

People Lighten Up! I think it's great to hear about a President's child getting married.

I didnt realize having gone to UVA Business School made someone unqualified to be an Intern at the white house.

Congratulations to the happy couple. Ignore the nasty comments from the angry left. They're mad because their lives are so empty and they'll take it out on anyone.

Who care, he is marrying into a stupid greedy family, this is not news worthy

Now, now... the young man was probably trying to emulate his father by seeking a job that paid well for doing relatively little work (after all, his dad had been Lt. Gov. of Virginia, and if that job requires much more than the tasks Pat Quinn handles here in Illinois - go to funerals and hold press conferences - I would be surprised).

What do you know, another college Republican chickenhawk is joining the Bush crime family.
I wonder why he hasn't signed up his future Daddy in laws "war on Iraq" yet?

Get over your knotted knickers and accept it. The President's daughter is getting married and you can't stand it that something traditional is happening.

This mans father was working for the Republican Party and for George W. Bush years before either of their children even met. Also, its shameful to think that this man doesn't love or serve his country by not serving in the armed forces. He has continually served his country by working in Washington while continuing his education. Which is honorable to say the least! Whether you agree with someones politics or not, it doesn't allow you to attack a mans integrity or willingness to serve, in any capacity, the United States of America.

Henry dude - Did you talk to Kneel Bush's ex-wife before signing up for this gig? I didn't think so.

Jenna Bush looks like she's 12-years-old in this photo.

You people are aware that everyone who works in an administration is politically connected don't you? Has always been that way and will evr be in the future. Not the same as getting someone a made up internship at the state.
You people really need an education on the realities of the world. Your clulessness is deafening....

Too bad she did not hook up with a black man from the Democratic Party. Hollywood could then do a remake of 'Guess Who's Comming to Dinner".
Now wouldn't that be a hoot!

Have they been practicing abstinence, or do the Bush's not practice what they preach on sex education and marriage issues like the Cheney's?

This is wonderful news! Now Jenna has a lifelong drinking buddy! You know... Someone to hold her hair back when she pukes, be the lesser-of-the-drunk driver home, etc...

There is a bit of a difference between giving the son of a higher-up an internship and being connected to someone that is currently facing federal charges of extortion, money laundering, and fraud.
Bush has had more then his fair share of screw-ups, but to try and connect this fluff story to the very real problem of Obama's involvement with Rezco is grasping at straws at best.

With the kind of background Henry Hager has, he'll have a great future at the slimy end of the spectrum of American politics.
A Karl Rove protege - what a recommendation.
And I do think Jenna is more known for her drinking behavior than her writing (read: paying someone to ghost-write) a book.

You mean they both have the same mother and daddy? Doesn’t that make it illegal for them to get married?
I think Laura and George Bush must have both taken the same public speaking course from Dan Quayle (a.k.a. Vice President Rain-Man).

Barbara (the other twin, not the grandmother who has looked 900 years old forever) is hotter anyway.

Personally I take my attitude toward the offspring of Presidents from Jeff's hero Saint John McCain:
http://www.salon.com/news/1998/06/25newsb.html
"Why is Chelsea Clinton so ugly?
Because her father is Janet Reno."
The meaner and nastier the statement the better. After all, If it's good enough for St John ( who's never angry)it's good enough for all of us right Jeff?

Two people who care about each other are getting married. And now there's someone blogging to ask if they practice abstinence. Generally speaking, hearing of weddings/engagements is cause for congratulation's and celebration. But apparently if you don't agree with the bride's father's politics, you are to bring up everything bad you've ever heard about the bride, accuse the groom of whatever comes to your head, and go on about the father's politics. Surely there are other blogs about the president somewhere online. And there's bound to be a place to brag about your accomplishments. For news about couples, let's not. I will offer my congratulations to the couple.

There are so many confused thoughts here that one wouldn't know where to begin.
This would be funny in a satirical sketch, but as a genuine statement of belief it is frightening.
One can clearly hear eerie echoes of the voice of Dr. Goebbels here.
I guess America's fascist wing has no shame in putting its idiocy on public display.
