Clinton: Saw Texas shootout with Obama coming: The Swamp

The Swamp

By Rick Pearson

ST. CLAIRSVILLE, Ohio — Democrat Hillary Clinton told PBS interviewer Judy Woodruff today about a remarkable display of clairvoyance that found the New York senator in the spring of last year planning a Texas showdown with Barack Obama on Tuesday.

During an interview with PBS’ “Newshour” program, Woodruff asked Clinton what happened in a race where only months ago she was viewed as the frontrunner and the presumptive nominee, only to be eclipsed by Obama.

“None of this is surprising to me,” she told Woodruff. “You know, last spring when I looked at how the race was shaping up, I knew that it would be a close contest and I assumed it would be with Sen. Obama and at that time I said, ‘We have got to start thinking about Texas. We have to start thinking ahead.’”

Clinton also said she really doesn’t like the front-runner label, even though the primaries in Texas and Ohio on Tuesday will determine whether her Democratic presidential bid will continue.

“I think it is great that this has been a close contest. I don't have any problem with that. I don't think I'm entitled to anything,” she said. “I hate being a front runner. I find that to be burdensome, so for me getting out (to speak to voters) today, talking about what I would do as president, answering people's questions and putting forth my ideas is energizing because it should be hard.”

Please give it up on March 5th, Mrs Clinton! We have had enough. Please don't kill the party. If anyone else had lost 11 in a row, they would have been written off. The margins are also stark. I like you, but, the people are speaking and you need to listen. You have 2 ears and 1 mouth, use your parts in that proportion too! You do think that you are entitled to it, else, you would not still be in the race! GET OUT!

She just can't see the writing on the wall!

I agree with Warren
It is time to pack up and support the next president of the US.
Hillary may not yet be toast but she is browning rapidly

Isn't it mind-boggling that Hillary says that she doesn't make predictions yet she claims that last summer she already knew that it would be a close contest with Obama?

Hillary, please do the country a favor and drop out now.

I believe that Obama would crush McCain in the presidential contest. The Clintons have way too much scandal baggage that the Republicans will gladly remind us of, and I, for one, do not want to relive the Clinton presidency again.

There once was a former First Lady
Whose finances seemed a bit shady
She ran for The Crown
Till her campaign broke down,
So she became Empress of Haiti.

I just got home from volunteering at the phone bank for the Hillary Clinton campaign. There are very many people out there who believes in you -- DO NOT GIVE UP.

You have the experience and determination needed to get this country moving toward the right direction.

Obama lacks the experience and will make blunders -- we cannot afford mistakes in this critical time. His campaign for health care is not universal, it should be called "partial" healthcare.

I wish the media would be more fair and less bias toward Hillary. Regardless, you will beat this hurdle.

We need someone who is good at DOING a lot of good, not just good at SAYING a lot of good. We need someone who can make tough choices, not just popular choices.

I also consulted Hillary's secret crystal ball...it said, 'Sen. Obama wins by a landslide'...thing is, it was referring to the general election in November!!!

So, in seeing that March 4 would be a big day between her and Sen. Obama, she decided to blow all of her campaign money before February 1, and then change messages about a dozen times?
Oh Billary, what's next?

Her "experience" should tell her to get out of the race. Can you imagine another 8 months of bickering and sniping by Hillary? Enough!

When Barack Obama is elected, I will cheer for the 16% of the population for whom he is breaking the glass ceiling. And I will be sad for the 50% whose ceiling Hillary could have broken.

PLEASE give the rest of the voters a chance to vote and stop telling Clinton to give up. Let the voters decide.

Thank you.

Kevin, you need to face reality. Barack Obama is more than ready to be President. He has done far more with his time in the senate than Hillary has (150 bills authored to roughly 20). She was a first lady, not a vice president. Besides, being able to motivate the real leaders of this country, THE AMERICAN PEOPLE, to action is one of the most important things we can ask for in a president. It's time for Hillary to pack it in so the Democratic party can avoid further damage and stop giving free shots at Obama to John McCain. Barack needs to be able to focus on the general election and how to defeat the Republicans.

Clairavoyant, huh? This from a woman who thought her husband was just going down to the Oval Office for a quick cigar.

Andrew, I'm so sorry that all you can think of is race and gender as opposed to who will be the best person to bring about the change that this country so desperately needs.

It's time for the press to let up. Just for a couple of days. Give Hilary half a chance. All women and parents of women should vote for Hilary. Shatter the ultimate American glass ceiling for the women we love.

Last I checked, this is a democracy. Hillary should run as long as she wants to. Truthfully, I may vote for McCain if Obama gets the nod.

Three years in the Senate is not enough time to qualify somebody for the highest office in the land.

Luckily McCain isn't really a conservative - he's just pretending to keep the radical right in line.

I don't understand HRC saying she foresaw the race in Texas. If she had, then why had she not allocated resources to Texas or set up a sufficient ground organization in the state?

It sounds like the sinking SS Billary Clinton is being abandoned!

http://OsiSpeaks.com or http://RealConservativesSpeak.com

Lou, Barack has been a state senator since 1996 and has been in public service for over 20 years.

The black population of the US is less than 13 percent. I don't know where the 16 percent cited above came from. But if Obama wins it will hardly break the class ceiling for black Americans. You can bet white commentators and black conservatives will be running around talking about how race isn't an issue anymore, but just go tell that to the one million black men who are under some form of lockdown in the United States.

Well if this "remarkable display of clairvoyance" is true, it just proves how lousy a campaigner she really is. I mean, if she *knew* this was going to be a tight race, if she *knew* Texas would be competitive, why blow all her money on the early states, as Karl said, and why wait until the last few weeks to set up a field operation? Ready on day one? You've gotta be kidding.

Let's be clear about what we are witnessing in this Democratic primary. The Clintons have been unpleasantly surprised by the silent seething Democratic rejection of their dynasty. Obama is not their biggest opponent he's just the perfect storm in presidential history, like a Reagan. But this is as much Obama's to win as it is for the Clintons to lose. Obama is very attractive. The Clintons are just more unattractive.

Wait a minute!!! She said last Spring she saw the race was shaping up, knew it was going to be a close race with Obama and they should start looking at Texas - so that's why she pinned all her hopes on 2/5 and had no plan B?

It makes no sense, especially since there's been alot of press on her staff assuming that she would have the nomination all tied up.

If she's trying to save face or make herself look as though she was overly arrogant to think she would walk right into the nomination - this isn't working.

I'm an Obama supporter but I have to wonder about Texas and Ohio.

At the risk of sounding like I'm on drugs, I wonder if some voters in both states will vote for Hillary just because of the unfavorable treatment she's gotten from the press, relative to Obama.

Everyone acts like it's impossible for her to win both primaries, just like they did in New Hampshire.

She could get backlash votes from enough people to put her over.

I hope that the remaining superdelegates vote her out after March 4. This campaign dragging on beyond that is not good for the prospects in the real election.

Most of the states won by Obama are Republican states. The states won by Hillary are very important Democrat states. Without CA, NJ,NY, MA, MI, FL no democrat can win the Nov election. Hillary-Obama is best combination to go for.

State senator since '96 and public office for over 20 years.. really?

One might think after all that time he might figure out how to give real answers to questions.

Hillary is the best candidate, and congratulations and respect to her for keeping up the battle. Obama is barely ahead in the delegate count, so it would be incredibly ignorant to write her off. She has a loyal support base in Texas.

Hillary Clinton still harping on her 35 years of experience and being a fighter. Notice she doesn't identify that experience? I don't know if anyone else noticed, but Hillary said she was actually in Bill's administration!! To quote, "I was in the administration." How? She did not even have a SECRET clearance! (Clearance denied because of the investigations she was under. Bill Clinton didn't even have a TOP SECRET Clearance for the same reason). Who ELECTED Hillary to the position as a member of the administration? I have concluded Hillary looks at us as if we are unintelligent and gullible; according to her, because she says it, it becomes reality and we are to believe it. I was surprised the moderators didn't not quiry her on this claim.

Hillary does not accept responsibibility; she blames the media for all her woes. The media is not fair, you always ask me the first questions, you pamper Mr. Obama, and on and on it goes. The truth is, Hillary mismanaged her campaign, she mismanaged her campaign funds, she hired inept people to to head her campaign. In short, Hillary has proven she is not ready to be President on day one or any other time.

Why does she keep hanging on? She still thinks she is inevitable and somehow, "the heavens will open up, the light will shine down, and a chorus of angels will come down singing, and everything will be right"-- and she'll be the nominee and then the President.

Hillary is lying about knowing she'd be debating Mr. Obama; she thought she'd have a lock-in by the end of Super Tuesday; she did not plan beyond that. Is there no end to that womans lies and deception?

"One other thing, it is a shame in this day and country that it is OK that civil rights leaders who backed Hillary because she has done so much for Civil Rights and Obama has accomplished nothing on that level be brow beaten into supporting Obama because he is black."

Vote for Hillary! You will never regret.

Obama = Bush

Hillary proved once again in last night's debate that she is the best candidate the Democratic Party has for the General Election. Obama Fever will subside and a sobering November will come and experience will matter. I hope Texas, Ohio, Vermont, and Rhode Island wakes up to that fact.

The Obama cult is obviously clueless. If cult leader Obama swipes the Democratic nomination, he will crash and burn in November without the support of Hillary Clinton and her supporters.

Hillary Clinton is fighting for the future of America; she is the qualified, experienced, and visionary leader America needs to make real change and lead us back to properous times and restore our good standing in the world.

Obama supporters should contain their glee and expectations. Every vote counts in Texas, Ohio, and everywhere else. Between the victim-sympathy backlash that the Clintons are masterfully rousing and the McCain slams, Obama may very well not win these states. After all, he is still behind in many of these states, and his so-called lead in Texas is very tenuous and may well disappear on March 4th. Hillary is playing the poor underdog in every interview and meeting. It is not "Remember the Alamo!" It is "Remember New Hampshire!" The Clintons have a track record of successfuly rising from the dead and eating up the opposition with gusto when least expected. Please do not get cocky, complacent, or begin crowing too loud. Nothing is over till the lady sings, and this soap opera with stings has a long way to go. Get down to hard work and bring out the votes for Obama.

hillary can and will win remember new hampshire

all you Obama supporters go out and buy your box of kleenex now. because you will need it after march 4th. its about time you americans get a female president.

How can anyone read this post about her prescient knowledge of Obama and the TX race, contemplate her campaign to date (whoa--they have caucuses in TX?), and then assert that Obama is too risky because he might make an error at some point? Or because he might not know all the ropes yet? I'm genuinely curious.

I must note that MA no longer counts, as we have semi-open primaries. So winning here doesn't matter any more.

Hillary....

Don't drop out!

We need your socialist views vs. Obama's Marxist views to lead McCain to a victory!

Paulo

I think obama is still the best, and hilary just the runner up. long live Obama

Obama Cult? Get a grip! Hillary's advisors are the ones who drank the Kool Aid. They have been telling her that she is invincible for so long that she never bothered to plan beyond Super Tuesday. THAT, my friend, is the textbook definition of arrogance. Her inner circle reminds me of the Hitler movie "The Final Hours". (Not that I think she is evil or anything, but the bunker mentality is eerily similar). "Call out the block captains in Toledo!" Uh, mein Fuhrer, there are no block captains left. "Then mobilize the unions!" Uh, your eminence, the unions have all supported Obama. "Then lets have a conference call with Time Magazine and the Washington Post and berate them for their bias!" We have been doing that since early January, your most esteemed holiness. "Where's Bill?? Does he still have that funny photo?"

"'We have got to start thinking about Texas. We have to start thinking ahead.’”

- HRC

Well, that's the problem. "Thinking" ahead isn't the same as "planning" ahead.

Bush also "thought" ahead - to the liberation parades in Iraq - but he forgot to "plan" ahead for the insurgency.

See the difference, Hill-gang?

See how Barack PLANNED ahead instead of just "thinking" ahead.

Now, we can vote for your candidate and hope that she doesn't make the same mistake again, or we can vote for Obama, knowing he doesn't make that kind of mistake THE FIRST TIME.

If Obama wins, it will break the ceiling for all minorities. That's a lot more than 12%. In fact, other countries like UK, Germany, Chili or Argentina have had a woman president. But none had a minority non-white become president. America would be a 1st in the West.

And what reason will Hillary have for not supporting Barack in November should he win the nomination?
Will she prefer a Republican in the Whitehouse rather than a Democrat like herself?

She knew it would come down to Texas, yet she said recently of the Texas delegate selection process - “I had no idea how bizarre it is,” Hillary Clinton told reporters as she flew to Texas, “We have grown men crying over it”.

"Ready on Day One"?

Everyone has a vote. Florida and Michigan doesn't matter remember from Obama yea we forgot he said that...... Remember America our votes don't vote the President in Delegates and Foreign Council does!!!!!

Yeah, it is really too bad that Senator Clinton won't be able to break that glass ceiling for all of those women out there who are multi-millionaire former First Lady Senators. "Give me a break!" How can we still say there is a glass ceiling in place when we have Congresswoman Pelosi, Senator Boxer, Secretary Rice in such high positions of power. For the few still playing the role of the martyred and wrong, dont under estimate the women who are in power now in numerous States as Governors and women in Washington. Drop the victim role. It wont get her elected. She will make one helluva Senate Majority Leader when Sen. Reid decides to retire his weak self back to Nevada.

A lot of people say drop out Hillary, obama won 11 in a row. 11??? at last count there was 50 states. was is 11, 1/5 of the states. they are very close in delegates. That's what counts. Stay in until the covention, America has'nt seen anything yet. this race is FAR FROM OVER.

Hillary's comments about expecting a Texas showdown and that she knew all along that this would be a tight race, etc are the type of remarks that people find a turn-off when it comes to supporting her. Who is she trying to fool? It would be so much better to be honest and say that she did not expect that Obama would be as competitive as he turned out to be but that is the nature of election campaigns where one can sometimes be surprised by how things evolve.

To pretend that she anticipated all of what has come to pass just insults the intelligence of voters.

Odd. I distinctly remember her saying the Super Tuesday primaries would decide the race.

The pressure must be affecting her memory. :)

Witness the start of the "Texas doesn't matter" campaign. Also, why does Clinton get credit for winning her home state but Obama not get credit for winning his by a much bigger margin? Face it. In November, Obama would take every state that Clinton won. Clinton can't make the reverse claim. Obama has a much better chance of taking some red states.

Hillary Clinton SHOULD NOT pull out. This is a ridiculous notion. But it is fitting for Obama supporters - short sighted and attracted to all things bright and shiny. Obama magpies.

Hillary wants to BEAT whoever disagrees with her. Obama wants to work WITH them. Obama just doesn't have the foamy-mouthed vitriol for non-Democrats that Hillary does, and that's what has been making the difference with swing voters.

That Hillary's remaining supporters don't understand how important it is to reach across the aisle is very telling of their motives. Hillary has given no indication that she doesn't still focus on old grudges. Every time she brings up her "experience" it only reminds people of the old fights.

Combine this combative tendency with fears of dynasty, and Hillary has no chance in a general election.

The Obama cult is obviously clueless. If cult leader Obama swipes the Democratic nomination, he will crash and burn in November without the support of Hillary Clinton and her supporters.

Straight up FU Manchu!!! I've got yer cult hanging.

Were do you and the other dictatorial, imperious, Hillary freaks get off. You do her no good whatsoever. Look Hillary's sane supporters are going to get behind whoever the nominee is. I know because I gave money to both candidates. I think Hillary is better suited to lead the Senate and will do a great job. I think Obama will be the kind of leader that will restore Americas lost prestige around the world, and Europe in particular. The Europeans are very excited about the possibility of an Obama presidency. Believe it. I suppose they are a cult to. Feel free to post some dumb anti-europe comment. I know you will.

Obama 2008

To tell the truth, I am astounded at the arrogance and certainty expressed above by supporters of both candidates.

However, in my humble opinion, Obama is far more capable that Clinton - just look at the campaign he has run. And the one she's "run." Don't forget that she's only won two elections in her whole life - and neither one was a serious or .difficult one (And Chuck Shumer got a higher percentage of New York votes in 2004 than she did in 2006)

Anyone who thinks Obama's "experience" is trivial or that he is a lightweight should pay attention to his track record in both Illinois and in the US Senate (which was controlled by Republicans for his first two years, making it impossible for any Democrats to get serious legislation passed).

This man has Republicans in the Illinois legislature who know him endorsing him. He knows how to work across the aisle. It isn't just empty rhetoric - it's reality.

This guy is for real. Just look at the campaign he has run, look at his calm in the face of incredible attacks, and ask yourself why so many independents and even Republicans are supporting him. Look at the numbers turning out in one state after another (including plenty of "red" states where the Democratic primary voters are outnumbering Republicans two or three to one), and ask yourself who is going to win in November.

Once in a generation (if we are lucky) we have a chance to vote our hearts for meaningful change. But it's not just simplistic emotion that's driving this election. It's a logical bet on a different future. Don't kid yourself - this is your chance.

For all those that think she is the best candidate...the woman is not respected, did you not hear Putin say in reference to her that "a leader must first have brains." It would be suicide to elect her.

Evelyn...Hillary proved something all right...she proved that she has no right being the next President of the United States...she can't control her emotions...she whines...makes attacks that are fruitless and then plays a victim when TRUTHFUL accusations are directed her way...she couldn't even pronounce Medvedev and then dismissed the Russian leader's name with "whatever." She promises 5 million new jobs...how...from where? She promised 200,000 in the state of NY as Senator and suffered a loss of 30,000 in the state. She is stalling the release of her tax return...I mean come on...how long does it take to release the return she already has...and she needs to stop stalling the records of her actions during her husband's presidency...Clinton represents everything in this country that people hate...all the sheeple need to WAKE UP

come on people, Obama winning the democratic vote will mean another republician in office. the people at large will not vote him in.... so keep pushing him and you can live with another 4 years moving toward poverty

Hillary Fan! For those of you that vote Obama what are you thinking? Are you wanting to change the USA that much because that is what will happen. You are going to put someone in charge that says he has the thoughts and values as we do, come on wake up. Where is this mans family from, has he not said I am against war... what kind of people did the 911 attack? musalims do you not think that instead of our money going to our people it will be aiding in africa. wake up people before its to late in we are in so deep we can't get out. We have already seen what the Clintons have done and it was great. Medical and Tax Refunds are only a fraction .Clinton for President

Yes, Hillary backers, when you give it up as is suggested, support the next president, John McCain. I know as a Hillary supporter I'll never vote for Obama-Khan.

Why so mysoginist? If she wins, so be it. But if Obama wins, we'll have to fight SUPER HARD because his wins are not 'real'--a caucus or primary does NOT predict ultimate voting--particularly when people are loathe to self-report a vote against a candidate when that vote could cost them their jobs. Obama has been placed where he is because of Repug voters wanting him on the ballot. So, when I hear and read newly activated political people trash Hilary with Fox News lines--please stop it. Hilary supporters are not racist. But I'm starting to wonder about Obama supporters....

FYI, Obama has been in the Senate since 2005; Clinton since 2001. Isn't that right?

Why Hillary should drop out?!
Because media said so?

She won important Democratic States.
She has strong supporters who volunteer, donate $ and make calls.
She will do very well in Texas, Ohio and Rode Island.

Hillary is still trying to
figure out her own personality.
Within the course of 36 hours she is honored to be
running with Barack - then
she takes on the parental role of "Shame on you."
What would a psychiatrist think of her actions? Bi-polar?
She is the most devisive, and devious politican.
Barack offers HOPE and a
sense of being CALM.
She asks who I would want to have answer a crisis phone call at three in the
morning? Well, I guess that would depend on which Hillary we're talking about. There are so many CALCULATED MOOD CHANGES!

If I may paraphrase Ann Richards remark about the first George Bush..."Put a fork in her, she's done." I too like Hillary but for the good of the party, it is time for her to leave. I hope she sticks to her word and acts as unifier in the general campaign.

This is why this country is in trouble now because of old
and experience peoples like Bush's, Reagans and others.

Hillary Clinton a visionary? The old girl is running on her husband's resume with her husband's connections, and her husband's coaching. She might be an able buearocrat, but I've seen evidence to the contrary. What I have seen is excuses for not presenting documents in timely fashion, and a subborn nature that derailed her husband's healthcare initative.

Barack Obama has reached this point in his career by his own merit.

As far as this cult nonsense, I'm a Democrat that is not 100% with the program. Barack Obama has succeeded by working with people who do not nessecarily agree with him on everything. The Democrats stand to make big gains in the Congress, so I do not want anyone who is unable to compromise. Obama's ability to compromise cannot be less than Clinton's, and from his support from the politican right, one can only surmise that compromise is at least possible in some areas.

Obama's ability to motivate people cannot be overstated. The President of the United States is a leadership position after all.

YOU MIGHT BE AN IDIOT:-)

If you think Barack Obama with little or no experience would be better than Hillary Clinton with 35 years experience.

You Might Be An Idiot!

If you think that Obama with no experience can fix an economy on the verge of collapse better than Hillary Clinton. Whose ;-) husband (Bill Clinton) led the greatest economic expansion, and prosperity in American history.

You Might Be An Idiot!

If you think that Obama with no experience fighting for universal health care can get it for you better than Hillary Clinton. Who anticipated this current health care crisis back in 1993, and fought a pitched battle against overwhelming odds to get universal health care for all the American people.

You Might Be An Idiot!

If you think that Obama with no experience can manage, and get us out of two wars better than Hillary Clinton. Whose ;-) husband (Bill Clinton) went to war only when he was convinced that he absolutely had to. Then completed the mission in record time against a nuclear power. AND DID NOT LOSE THE LIFE OF A SINGLE AMERICAN SOLDIER. NOT ONE!

You Might Be An Idiot!

If you think that Obama with no experience saving the environment is better than Hillary Clinton. Whose ;-) husband (Bill Clinton) left office with the greatest amount of environmental cleanup, and protections in American history.

You Might Be An Idiot!

If you think that Obama with little or no education experience is better than Hillary Clinton. Whose ;-) husband (Bill Clinton) made higher education affordable for every American. And created higher job demand and starting salary's than they had ever been before or since.

You Might Be An Idiot!

If you think that Obama with no experience will be better than Hillary Clinton who spent 8 years at the right hand of President Bill Clinton. Who is already on record as one of the greatest Presidents in American history.

You Might Be An Idiot!

If you think that you can change the way Washington works with pretty speeches from Obama, rather than with the experience, and political expertise of two master politicians ON YOUR SIDE like Hillary and Bill Clinton..

Best regards

When Senator Clinton wins Texas, Ohio on Tuesday the only big state that Senator Obama would have won is Illinois. He should then drop out for the good of the party. He would not have won half the states he has if Republicans had not voted for him and you are dreaming if you think for a second that they will vote for him in November. It is absurd for the Democratic party to allow Republicans choose their nominee.

Senator Clinton is without a doubt the best candidate. She has the smarts, experience, courage
and spirit necessary to be a great president. Furthermore, unlike some people, she has always been proud of our country. The Democratic Party is in for a rude awakening if they think Hillary supporters are easily transferable to Obama. That is not happening. We don't drink the Obama kool-aid and we are patriots, not fascists. We will write her name in or maybe even cross the aisle for McCain. We have suffered through 8 years of hell with one inexperienced, arrogant candidate;the adults aren't going there again.

JKan,you seem not to understand politics.1stly:Hillary has done nothing for the civil right and people who say so do it for their own political goals.2ndly:Lewis switched gear not because Obama is black but because he might loose his congressional district next time if he goes against his constituency which voted 3-1 for Obama. He's got brain and just wanna keep his post and there is nothing racist about CONFORMING TO THE WILL OF THE PEOPLE!

HEY NINAK,
Saddam Hussein, bin Laden, George W Bush all belong in the same basket.
They are responsible in the death of so many people.

So please don’t compare Bush to Obama
He is not even in the same class

Don't give up baby, we've come this far.

I'm calling on Texans today. Hillary Supporters go to hillaryclinton.com and volunteer to make phone calls.

Hillary Clinton 2008!

The foreign policy decisions the next president will face are huge since he or she will have to undo all the cowboy diplomacy from the Bush administration. Obama has the least foreign policy experience of the remaining candidates. Obama does not match up to either Hillary or McCain on this critical point. We are in deep trouble if Obama is elected.

Hillary has no one to blame except of course her husband buba who could just never stop talking about his accomplishements at her expense! The tought of these two in the oval office arguing daily over how to govern America is a scary thought! Well, the fat lady is tuned up and ready to sing next Tuesday!

Hilly Stark has a crystal ball. It needs some Windex. I think it's really a snow ball, and it is melting.

I've said from Day one that I support Obama but would certainly vote for Hillary if she wins. I was actually saying "when" she wins for a long time. This isn't an "I hate Hillary" rant. I like her. She is gutsy and strong. But if Obama wins, we must rally around the democrat. Hillary will always have power and influence in the democratic party.

Yes, Hillary backers, when you give it up as is suggested, support the next president, John McCain. I know as a Hillary supporter I'll never vote for Obama-Khan.

Posted by: Kirk | February 28, 2008 12:19 AM

You won't be missed. McCain-a-tron.

I've read through all the comments, and while Clinton has many supporters, not one of them defends her statements in the interview. Is she lying? Or is her approach to Texas (and the other states voting since NH) a strategy born of 10 months of prescience? That's a problem for the candidate who is promised to be so knowledgeable she'll never make a mistake.

She really is starting to sound a bit sad.

First she had unparalleled experience, then she had remarkable leadership ability, now she is gifted with seeing the future.

Well, the Greek legend of Cassandra told us she received the gift of seeing into the future accurately but also the curse of never being believed by anyone.

Ms. Clinton, precisely, I'm sorry to say.

She's also showing signs of her clairvoyance by "digging up" support. Her campaign attempted to release a video claiming that former Texas governor Ann Richards would endorse her, if she were still alive. Ann's sons disagreed and blocked its release.

Pretty weak, Senator Clinton.

Obamaites: Your sarcasm and nasty comments are not solicited and are not welcome. They will not convince Hillary or her supporters to "give up". Hillary is ready and is the best candidate for the job.

Posted by: alee21 | February 28, 2008 8:14 AM

alle21, Obamaites???

Perhaps you should look in the mirror while you cast stones from your glass house. Nobody I know expects Hillary to give up. She is running a tough campaign, and will no doubt fight through March 5th.

That said, should she lose enough delegates I think she will bow out, and as she has said, the loser will support the winner. Get used to that idea. I know that as a Barack Obama supporter I will support Hillary should she defeat him. That said, I think her campaign is being run rather poorly. All the trouble started when Bill lost all control. Either way even though I like John McCain (in spite of myself), I will vote democrat this time around. I think the country needs fresh leadership. I also noticed Mr McCain stick his foot in his mouth yesterday with his AQI remark. Mr Obama rightly pointed out that there was no AQI before we invaded Iraq.

They are a product of the greatest recruiting tool OBL ever could have asked for. The Iraq war. But we are where we are.

Obama 2008

Give me a break. Everyone seems to love a fighter except when it is Hillary. She is the better, more experienced candidate. So many people seem to be on Obama's side when they really know nothing about his experience, his voting record, or even about his past associations. My prediction is that if Obama does win the nomination, all the so-called Obama supporters will drop him like a bad habit the minute he makes the first wrong, inexperienced choice.

I never write blogs replies, maybe one other time if at all. But I really wanted to SPEAK UP FOR HILLARY. The Trib did not post my reply, and at first I thought maybe the length, but there are others here just as long. I am trying again, though doubt anyone will see now anyway. I won't do again--and won't read the Swamp again if it isn't posted.

DO NOT GIVE UP HILLARY!! I like Obama too, but I love and respect Hillary Clinton. I don't agree with her stand on mandating health insurance--I am uninsured and could get affordable medical insurance thru AARP now that I am over 50, but I can't afford it yet. I pay cash as I go for medical and try to stay healthy. And while I don't agree with the Iraq war and was against it before it began, I can respect Senator's Clinton wanting to support the president of the country beofre the international community. It was Bush who abused the support of our congress, not Clinton.

Also, I have lost respect for Obama over his playing that to his advantage--and for disrespecting Clinton for her part in healing our country after the last Bush. He knows better but is manipulating spin--how can we trust that? Also, Obama too often implies Senator Clinton is not change, but she has nothing in comon with the current administration--SHE IS CHANGE.

More than anything, I respect Hillay Clinton for standing up and holding her family together over the Clinton-Lewinski controversy. Everyone neglected her. People said President Clinton owed Monica's parents an apology, but Monica was a woman who, when the text was read, threw herself at him. As a woman, I know I have had opportunites to cross that boundary with powerful men too. It was really Monica and her parents (for how they raised her) who owed an apology to Mrs. Clinton at that time.

I am so so so tired of the press choosing our candidates. I liked Huckabee too, but thanks to TV media seeming to be too closely tied to hidden intersts, poor Huckabee was left out of press coverage even though he was still running. I like Obama but he is naive. He might make a good vice president--let him support our country in that way and let him prove himself.

Please give this strong beautiful role model of a woman your vote. I did, but my vote doesn't count because I live in Florida--once again, lucky me, Florida has scammed the voters out of a voice. Save this country and VOTE FOR HILARY!! (and tell everyone you know in Ohio, Texas, and any state still to vote to give her this chance to heal this nation as she healed her family.

Hillary's 'experience' is a joke, and since her supporters won't let it go, let me catalogue some of Hillary's 'experience'...

Nixon Impeachment committee: recommended for removal due to unethical conduct.

Wal-Mart board of directors: Many of Wal-Mart's alleged labor abuses occurred while she was a bigwig here. Their welfare-as-benefits plan came from this era, too.

1st Lady of Arkansas: Assisted in covering up shady land deals and her husband's rape allegations.

1st Lady of the nation: Derailed presidential plans for healthcare with her pugilism, knowingly sold out the feminist movement for Bill, and stole furniture placed there by Jacki O.

Senator: Wins by margins lower than Chuck Schumer's, has sponsored or authored only 20 bills in this time.

Explain to me what "class" "experience" or "strength" she's shown? If not for her riding her husband's soiled coattails, she'd just be another self-centered WASP feminist.

There also seem to be those Hillary supporters who think that the "big states" she won on Super Tuesday indicate her chances of winning a democratic election. To clarify things for you... New York was never going to vote for John McCain over Obama, but Wisconsin citizens would vote for Obama over McCain.

McCain lacks drawing power in blue states, but Obama could easily make battlegrounds out of even the strongest Republican bulwarks.

I like Hilary but l love Barack Obama. see the difference?

Barack '08
