The Swamp

by Rick Pearson

Hillary Clinton was in the midst of a stock campaign speech before a rowdy group of students on a stage at the George Washington University when her backdrop -- a board extolling her as the candidate of “solutions”- - dissolved into an episode of the Ellen DeGeneres show.

DeGeneres tried to give a big assist to Clinton’s campaign, asking how people could help her against rival Barack Obama. But Clinton also suffered a big miscue when she identified Michigan —which held its disputed primary Jan. 25 -- as one of the states she needs help in.

Saying she had a serious question, DeGeneres began: “Now I have said I have a problem with glitter. It should be banned. It doesn’t warn you. There’s glitter on your fingers. There’s glitter everywhere. You open a card, you open wrapping paper. Will you put a ban on glitter?”

“You know, I have been asked so many difficult questions in my life and, you know, some questions you can answer yes or no,” Clinton replied. “But when it comes to glitter, what on earth would grade school children do for their special projects? So maybe, maybe what we do is we ban glitter for anyone over 12?”

“There’s an idea,” DeGeneres said, before moving to Clinton’s most recent theme of providing solutions instead of speeches. “That’s what I like about you. I like that you have solutions.”

DeGeneres noted that “the race is on as we all know” and that “Obama has now won 11 states in a row....What needs to happen to change the momentum?” the talk show host asked.

“Well, we’re going to win Ohio and Michigan,” Clinton said to cheers from the crowd, not immediately realizing that it’s Ohio and Texas that are the big March 4 states she is trying to win. “I mean, Ohio and Texas. I already won Michigan,” she quickly added.

Michigan is a subject of dispute over whether its delegates will be counted because it moved its primary up before a Feb. 5 deadline set by national party leaders. Clinton won the voting in the state, though other major candidates did not participate. Now in a battle over delegates, Clinton's camp wants them seated at the national convention.

“So,” DeGeneres asked, “is that really make or break? Is that really an important thing for you now?”

“Ellen,” Clinton said, “I’d say that ranks way up there with banning glitter.''

DeGeneres also noted last weekend’s Saturday Night Live skit which featured a parody of a debate in which the media fawned over Obama. She asked Clinton whether she was being given a “harder time than Barack because you’re a woman?”

“Well nobody has ever asked me if I needed an extra pillow in a debate,” Clinton said. “You know, I think it’s my opportunity to make my case the best I can and I am actually asking the people of America to hire me for the toughest job in the world. And I think it requires a person who actually can stand up to whatever comes my way.”

In reality, the Clinton campaign has been angry over the way it's being covered in the media in comparison to Obama. Clinton’s top spokesman, Howard Wolfson, told reporters earlier in the day that he believed a “double standard” existed in the media in the way the two candidates are being covered.

Clinton asked the talk show host to come out on the campaign trail to help, but DeGeneres said she wasn’t sure she could get out of her TV gig. Instead, she offered to interrupt Clinton at future events.

DeGeneres said the segment will appear on her show airing Tuesday.

There you have it folks, leadership you can trust on day one. I mean March 5th, err, in Michigan. Well whatever.

They were right about one thing, all that glitters is NOT GOLD. Hillary looks more like burnt toast!

Don't believe the HYPE!

Obama is the real deal.

Obama 2008

90% of the articles I read have some sort of unfair negative slant against Hillary; it's frustrating.

Thank you for keeping this one impartial. I don't want to read articles about how Hillary 'attacks', while Obama simply 'raises concern'. There is a double standard and it has become irritating.

Hillary 08

I was at that Clinton event tonight and that Michigan and Texas thing was a joke for the show. The event was alot of fun. Everyone was really energized.

haha clearly she doesn't care about Texas... what a fool.

I for one am on Hillary's side. The US is in one hell of a mess right now and let's face it, Hillary has had to deal with messes in politics and personal life, she is the only one who possibly help the US come back from the brink of destruction that the last eight years have left us at. Obama frankly is too young for this. He has no real experience and the fact he didn't place his hand on his heart for the pledge of allegiance really bothers me. I am an American and I will vote for the person who is best for us. That's Hillary in my book and in the book of lot of my friends. I'm a middle age white woman who doesn't want her three boys to go war. We need to get out Iraq before Iraq becomes us.

It's refreshing to hear something positive about Hillary who I deeply respect and admire. Obama which I agree is like glitter is being treated too nice. Are we suffering from an obama hangover yet? Too much of a good thing is dangerous and Obama's charlatant ways is starting to put a big question mark in people's mind. This election is much too important to choose glitter over gold. Why on earth do we want a talker instead of someone with wisdom and a doer? For the sake of America, vote Hillary or anybody else but Obama.

I have noticed that too. I am a Hillary supporter but I think Obama is great too. It's just that the media coverage between the two is night and day. They words that are used, how things are phrased...people, if Obama does become the nominee for the Democrats, the media is not doing us any favors by sugar coating their coverage of him. He will get creamed in the general. That is my fear.

And for the record, I think Hillary is the better candidate and I still think she has a shot so for those of you with primaries or caucuses coming up, I ask that you just vote for who you beileve in and try to zone out all the negative media hype.

It's hard to not have something negative about Hillary in any article. She is so toxic. She is an evil, manipulative, disingenous, power hungry witch. Hey, Hillary, see you at your deposition in August in Paul v Clinton. You might want to change your false declaration to the court before you appear.

Well, we’re going to win Ohio and Michigan,” Clinton said to cheers from the crowd, not immediately realizing that it’s Ohio and Texas that are the big March 4 states she is trying to win. “I mean, Ohio and Texas. I already won Michigan,” she quickly added."

Uh, no ya didn't. You were the only dem on the ticket in michigan. The rest of the dems decided there was no point in even having their names on the ballot in michigan because for good or for bad michigans delegates do not count.

Thank you for you truthful reporting. I am tired of slants ans spins. Clinton is a good hard working woman who has worked with both sides of the house in New York. Sure, she's a politician and has made compromises. We need an experienced politician and ideals and she has them both.

Obama is nothing but a flash in the pan. When it is all Hillary will be on top.

There you go again Hillary! How many States that composes United States of America? mmhh did you answer Canada and Mexico too?

Ban Glitter!

I think that could be her most effective slogan yet.

"ELLEN SPEAKS WOMAN TO WOMAN"

"WHAT ABOUT THE GLITTER!"

What is that? No what is that.

Woman to Woman, what is that? No What is that?

Woman to Woman, she couldn't ask Woman to Woman.

Even Oprah is allowed to ask Woman to Woman!

Actually, I think you are both wrong. Obama and Clinton are about as real as Santa and Peter Cotton Tail, from the rants and raves we have personally observed from McCain in the last decade, I think it is easy to say he is the most "real" candidate we have in this race. Personally, I don't plan to vote for any of them.

RE: #1 Chuck,

Your comments leave me with a bad Flavor in my mouth. Are you now saying that Obama is beyond a faux pas, as well? Did you hear a story about how the crowd cheered when he sneezed at a rally? What a joke this has become.

What in the hell was DeGeneres saying?
Don't worry Shrillary-when you fly over the midwest sitting in a lobbyist's G-5, all the boring midwest states look the same.
Enjoy this defeat free week Shrillary because March 4th is going to be a long night for you and your disbarred semi spouse.
Don't forget to bring exra meds!

While I will vote for either Senator Clinton or Obama, I believe that every generation a true leader comes along that can inspire a nation to do more than it thought. FDR was in my Father's generation and JKF was in mine. Now we have Barack Obama, who even Caoline Kennedy recognizes as the next potentially great leader. I'm sorry for Hillary, but Obama is the inspirational leader who is the man for the time.

I was for Hillary originally but realized that the country is more geared to Obama - and I don't like the negative slant she's taken on lately or the insistence on Michigan and Florida when the DNC clearly decided they were not legitimately to be contests because they were moved up early. It was also wrong to have staffers give a photo of Obama to Drudge, of all people, one that could be controversial out of context. Drudge is one of the people who brought her own husband down.

Freudian slip. She knows she will loose Texas and hopes to save herself by reneging on her agreement on Florida and Michigan.

Many people don't put their hands on their hearts for the Pledge. What a petty reason for not voting for someone.

It's hilarious to hear people talk about Hilary's experience, when the fact of the matter is that she hasn't done a thing for this country that means anything. Oh, except for for the Occupation of Iraq.

PS. Everyone knows Obama isn't going to get the blue-haired white woman vote. Don't worry, we're not panicking.

Clinton is getting a taste of what's has been dished out on her behalf for decades. The left wing media darling gets a pass while the candidate on the right is picked apart with a fine toothed comb. She's just angry she's not the flavor of the day anymore. Perhaps she should reconsider the "Fairness Doctrine" against all media, not just conservative talk radio.

Hillary for President!!! Hang tough Hillary....for all those out there playing Monday night quarterback, what you're doing at least is breaking down barriers. If you don't win the nomination, you have paved the way for the next female to run in the future. Even though Obama is African American, he is still a man, and it is easier to be a man than a woman in society.

I never thought of Ellen as being funny. Maybe Hillary got the Xerox line that bombed in the debate from Ellen.:)

Shame on you, Ellen for your political pandering!

Hillary Clinton expected to be the nominee. Many of us expected her to be the nominee. But from what I've seen, she's through. If the roles were reversed and Obama's campaign were the one without the money, the momentum, and down 11-0, the party would dismiss him in a heartbeat. And if he refused to withdraw, instead choosing to attack Clinton in a mad scramble... well. Clinton is not being treated unfairly. Quite the opposite I believe. And unless she wins BIG in Ohio and Texas, I believe her withdrawal is in order.

I'd like to give my opinion on one item of discussion. Far too many people think that men (and I am one of them) do not like Hillary and will not vote for her because she is a woman. Women need to understand that is not the case for the majority of men. The reason most of us men won't vote for Hillary is that we do not like Hillary. I hope and expect that in my lifetime we will see a woman president. Just NOT this woman.

Do you need a break from Clinton fatigue?

OK now she is stalking the Ellen DeGeneres show??? Oh My G*d!! How desperate is this human being?? Please give up with some hint of dignity already? For the love of G@d!!

At least no one is calling it a Blonde Moment! (yet)

It's a sorry state of affairs but Hillary doesn't do well when speaking without her props and speech writers. Sort of like George isn't it.

Hillary Clinton still talks of Michigan
because she plans to steal the election
by making those delegates count. I
have really wanted to support her
and there are moments when I
see some of her strength. However,
there is an air of dishonesty that
looms around her. She inconsistent.
She would be a bad move for America.

"And I think it requires a person who actually can stand up to whatever comes my way.” Huh? Sounds like Bush all over again. Dissed the entire state of Texas. HC has more ambition than intelligence. Also, the Clintons seem to be fond of the word "shame" lately. They are probably very familiar with it. I can see her with her finger on the red button "Shame on you China!" If you like getting a spanking, vote for HC.

Hillary who?

Funny, before the Iowa caucus I don't remember any of you Billary supporters complaining about unfair media bias. At that time her election by all the pundits was a foregone conclusion. Oops, but on the way to her coronation she got out campaigned by a new voice. THe voice of Obama. So, complain all you want about the negative coverage Hillary gets just remember Democrats..SHE VOTED FOR THE WAR!!!

Obama Fools! '08

Please vote for Monica's boyfriends wife for President

-- If they give hillary the delegates from Michigan, it is an injustice to the american people. I abstained because I felt my vote was stripped from me. Because I did not have a real choice: simply a single name on the ballot. Unfair and in my opinion: 100% illegal if she receives a single delegate from that state without a re-vote.

Yeah, right, now it's the media's fault. I didn't hear Hillary bitch about the media bias when the media portrayed her as the front-runner and could stop lauding her 'experience'. The media bias the the loser's lamest excuse.

When Hillary loses, she will blame the press.

She knew exactly what she was saying when she said Michigan. She just wanted people to be ready to accept the Clinton machine triggering a reversal on whether Michigan's delgates will be counted. In truth, they did not follow the rules, should be the end of the story. She won by forfeit, not by a count. And that does not count as a vote in a democracy.

I am tired of the whole "I have solutions" business. What does that even mean? How can Hillary say that Obama is only talk when he hasn't had the chance to do anything yet? It is unwise for a presidential candidate to reveal all of their plans because those who disagree may tear the candidate apart. Also; what is the true value of experience? Bush had plenty of experience. JFK had barely any experience. Who makes the better president? Hilary is weaker than Obama. She does not have the commanding presence to lead and unite a nation. About policies? The president doesn't have as much power as you are giving him/her. The president is the leader of a nation, and Obama is 10 times the leader Hillary is.

Agreed - I don't feel strongly about Clinton or Obama. I think they are more similar than different and I would happily vote for either over McCain.

There is a double standard, though. I'm worried that many people are getting caught up in Obama's nice-sounding speeches without really examining his sparse record or the practicality of his ideas. The national media, in general, has certainly given him a 'pass' to this point. They've been more focused on the amazing energy of his campaign rather than his future strengths or weaknesses as a president.

hilly you ever heard of perjury? its time for you to resign your senate seat. we don't want nor need you and billy to screw up this great nation anymore then you already have. soooooo loooooong

Feminists who want to make Hillary's struggle some neo women's crusade are off the mark. She is not being bashed in the media "because she's a woman" but because she's Hillary Clinton. She comes with a lot of baggage and questionable history.

And she's was the early favorite and even had a former President stumping for her (which she leveraged to claim 'experience to lead on day 1').

True feminists would recognze that HIllary should not be their mascot. She has invited much scorn. And I find most media treatment of her to be deserving.

Hillary, Was not mistaken when she did not mention Texas, she knows he is going to win by 18% in Texas.

Why is she in Maryland?
Because she knows what is going on in Ohio. Barak is winning in the Big-10. Why should Ohio, be any different?

The reality is she can turn our economy around and fix the horrible mess America--WE are in. Whether you like her or not, doesn't matter. What matters is that you vote for her, because we do not want to do the same mistake we made when we did not elect GORE because of his "boring" persona. Substance People

The Obama Campaign is a left wing counter to the Bush Campaigns of 2000 and 2004.

Bush was a uniter not a divider, he was going to change Washington and he did manage a deal with Ted Kennedy on the No Child Left Behind Act. It gave both the left and the right plenty to be unhappy about.

Bush's White House is run by advisors and the President acts like a CEO.

Obama promises to change Washington, unite everyone and run the country with advisors. The only difference I can see is left wing versus right wing. It is wrong, deceptive and we will all suffer for it.

I have seen the press equate him with Lincoln. Nothing is more ridiculous. Lincoln had very strong convictions and was elected based upon those beliefs. Half the Congress walked out on him because of those beliefs.

He is also compared to Kennedy, who was not popular at the time he was killed and his re-election was not a certainty. Kennedy also had 20 years of experience in Washington and still had a rough few years. What does Obama have? It is a risk to put faith in an unproven leader.

Someone please tell me what Barak Obama believes in except being President. Please do not recite all of the material from his web site. It comes from the Democratic Congressional agenda. I want to know what the man himself believes. Why does he want to become President? Personally?

At least I know what Senator Clinton and Senator McCain believe in and why they want to be President. They have worked on the same things for 35 years.

Obama has not had time to work on anything - he runs from election to election. He has potential, but I would like to see him finish one job before moving on to the next. Motivational speaking is not a presidential job qualification.

May god bless America. We need guidance.

The reality here, is that either Hillary or Obama will make an outstanding face of Leadership for our United States of America....Better Than the 'Leaderhipification' we have been rolling our eyes about for the past 8 years!

hello america, did you do your home work today boys and girls. good than you read the article that shows that all three of the possible candaates are professional politicians and have never run anything. I love hearing people support this one or that one but for what. running america is running the bigest buisness in the world and all we can do is leave it to three who have never run anything. he says, she says and it all is knowthing. forget about them think and ask for a proven leader. Mike Bloomberg please come foward we need you now!!!!

I don't like Hilliary at all and I hope she loses.

But I do admit the media has been Obama biased.

The chickens have come home to roost because the Klintoons didn't support Gore when the media raped him.

@Julian

"It's refreshing to hear something positive about Hillary who I deeply respect and admire."

Yeah, respect and admire.

I'm sure you admire someone who would stoop so low as to work in conjunction with Matt Drudge to publish *yet another* set of inflammatory photos of Obama, this time in native Somali robes.

Yeah, so much to admire about the Clintons.

You guys are joking right? The media practically gave Hillary the nomination if I recall when all of this began.
Hillary hides her answers. Will there be fines? "Uh... we'll have something in place." Headlines for Obama about a fake plagairism charge. Well she used Edwards closing and I have yet to see headlines for it.

Go OBAMA!!!!

I'm tired of politics as usual. You guys/gals are fixed in it you don't realize it. Hillary just hides it with her promises which in reality is not that much different than Obama.

And the same people who wanted Bill out is ready to basically put him back in. This is a democracy. I'm sorry out of all the millions of people in this country no one can convince me only 2-3 families to run it.

Senator Clinton isn't qualified because she hasn't displayed any true leadership traits. Keep in mind that right this minute she is a U.S. Senator; that is a monumental position with very serious responsibilities.

But where is the effort there? I don't want a woman president simply to make history, I want a good and capable president.

And listening to Ellen (or any celebrity) is a bad idea. Are you a fan or a responsible voter?

Think.

Senator Obama has the audacity to suggest that we have to work to attain our goals. Senator Clinton's methodology is the old status quo of more legislation.

It's so refreshing for a change to see someone say something positive about Clinton.
The media has been biased, probably because she's had more years under her belt...but it's time someone started questioning what's under all that glitter...

Ohio and Texas - please vote for
Clinton! She'll come through for you....

Incredible...statistically she's out of the running, ethically, she's out of step and willing to do or say anything to win, organizationally, her campaign failed to deliver the "Slam Dunk" she thought she would have after Super Tuesday. How pathetic and unfortunate for a woman who really is smart and talented, but has failed to move beyond the shadow of her husband, who is determined to promote his legacy at the expense of his wife.

Ellen recognises gold when she sees it

Hillary is not losing because the media is being mean to her and nice to Obama. Hillary is losing because she has made and continues to make mistakes.

1) she voted for the war in Iraq
1a) instead of repudiating it she offers a lame "if I only knew then what I know now" excuse

2) She relied on endorsements and top down organizing everywhere, including Iowa, whereas Obama patiently built grassroots support from the bottom up

3) she let Bill out on a rampage in South Carolina reminding the country of the bad parts of the Clinton legacy and also putting to rest any notion that she could run in the general on her strengths alone. Meaning that the Republicans could dust off their old dirty tricks against Bill and use him to rally their base.

4) whenever she lost her camp would belittle the state that choose against her, i.e. IA Obama only can win in caucuses because only rich people caucus, SC Obama can only win the black vote, all the other 11 victories in a row, Obama can only win the youth, Obama can only win the small states, Obama can only win... That grows thin quickly

5) Her camp didn't prepare for a fight after Feb 5th.

She shouldn't blame the media for her and her camp's failure. I don't trust her to run any better in the general against McCain. If she is having this much trouble beating Obama I don't but much faith in her to beat McCain.

Hillarys getting bad press because shes a bore...Nothing more, nothing less. It's time to move on.
Obama 08.

Well, Hillary is getting a raw deal. I almost feel sad for her... almost. Obama speaks in generalities and stumbles alot in debates, compared with Hillary, who speaks as if policy is her second language. I really don't think wartime is the time to let someone grow into the presidency. This is a big naive mistake about to be made, and all because of hatred of Bush. I don't think the country can easily recover from many more mistakes of that magnitude.

As an Expat, still gonna vote in November, lets forget about Obama, there's a whole mess of Alligators in the Swamp that's D.C., and boy oh boy, they'll make a meal out of him. Hilary knows how to handle them. Vote with your brains and lets get the U.S. back on track!

"She is an evil, manipulative, disingenous, power hungry witch."

And I believe whoever you are, you are a sexist. These terms are not used for men. They are reserved for successful women. If you're going to be critical of her, do so in a mature way rather than calling names.

About the article: It is good to hear Ellen and Tina Fey supporting Hillary. Hillary will make a great president, and I truley hope we have the opportunity to see that.

No one wants to say this for fear of being called a bigot or something but the fact is Obama gets better treatment in the press because he is Black and there is a fear of appearing bigoted that leaves him relatively untouched at this point.

No one dare push to hard for fear of the race issue and that fear is likely to get this country an inexperienced person.

Truth is that this is the only election in your life that will make a difference. If we don't square away the environment NOW and but quick then the future will be nothing but a prelude to the end of civilization. I for one don't need to be inspired, I need a leader to get stuff done and but quick. Neither candidate is the best possible person for the job but Hillary is the Better person for the job and we can only choose from those who contend.

Obama's rhetoric is getting old quick. He was refreshing for a moment but Hillary has the qualifications to be president! Everyone I know in Ohio is voting for Hillary!

I really don't think she cannot blame anybody but herself (and maybe her husband as well) on negative portrayal of her in the media. Hillary had 8 years as the First Lady and 7 years as a NY Senator to improve her image, but obviously she decided not to do much. Besides, Bill Clinton was immensely helped by how the media portrayed him, so I don't think they can complain about how she is portrayed. I don't think I heard them complaining how bad Bob Dole was portrayed during Bill's second bid to the presidency. Lately, she can't seem to miss an opportunity to project her image as a sour whiner. Is this something that the media should be blamed as well? How about her repeatedly failed attempts to manipulate the media to look Obama bad? Given the circumstance, I inclined to believe what conservatives had been saying about Clintons was true after all.

Come on guys, keep blaming on everything like a kid now. I think the media is fair enough and clinton camp is just crying foul because it is losing. I liked the modesty she had in teh texas debate. She should maintain it rather than try and confuse people with picture of obama wearing a traditional dress. She knows that some people would doubt his appearance and vote for her. Cheap shots are always taken while exiting. She should bow our gracefully and not taking pot shots in the last minute.

Wow,Hillary!
What an evil statement!! My goodness. Hell will certainly open its gates to you. You definitely are not looking at this campaign through eyes of fairness.

Tonight Hillary gave a speech on national security while BO was doing a stand-up routine. It's fun to see a great performer on stage, but with Turkey invading Iraq, Musharaf losing control of Pakistan and Israel and Palestine on the verge of all out war -- we need a strong, fearless and experienced leader. One who has the strength of character to stand for peace, and the strength to defend our nation. BO is not anywhere near ready.

I find it very amusing that so many Clinton supporters keep talking about the media bias when just last fall she was treated as the belle of the ball and Obama was patronizingly portrayed as nothing more than a nice inexperienced young man...and yet during the course of the campaign his judgment has proved to be both resourceful and catalyzing to the voting public. It is gratifying to know that with all her "experience" and "leadership " if she becomes President we'll at least get doughnuts.

Hillary has had an ego problem from the start: she seems to think the public wants her, needs her, and would be better off with her. To me, that's just rubbish. Hopefully, enough will vote against her...giving her the word that we don't need her, don't want her, and we will be better of without her. Goodbye, Hillary. Adios.

Is it just me or does anyone else always struggle in finding a candidate they want to represent them. The sad thing is neither party's platform makes any sense at all.

-- One party wants to protect a healthy family value system which sounds great...but they also want to literally kill everyone else that's different.

-- The other party wants to protect all of our civil liberties which sounds great...but in reality we are just trading freedoms in order to not have any personal responsibility....oh yeah, and they kill babies.

Another Lose-Lose election...I guess I'll just watch from the sidelines again. I don't want to be responsible for either party being elected.

George Washington and his immediate successor did not have any experience of being the President of the USA, and yet they served our country very well because of their good judgement and vision. Ask yourself another question - Is George W. Bush a better President now than he was when elected first time? Real experience in the actual job hasn't made him any better. Experience is valuable but it is not everything, otherwise we will keep the seniors forever in their jobs, and use young people only when we could not find old persons to fill them. Good judgement is far superior than mere longivity.

The media, the republicans, and so many hate filled Obama "supporters", have crucified Hillary. It's really sad to see the how much she has endured. While she is clearly the more qualified of the candidates, at the end of the day it doesn't seem to matter. Polls show that a majority of men have been voting for Obama. Is it that threatening to men to have a woman as president? Michelle Obama says that she is proud of America for the first time. Well, for the first time, I think I'm a little disappointed in my country to learn that sexism is not only alive and well, but cheered on by so many in our mainstream culture.

I have been following this rivalry between Mr. Obama and Mrs. Clinton for quite some time and in my humble opinion, I choose Mrs. Clinton. I believe she is a doer and not a talker, and her actions speak louder than words. Mr. Obama may know how to give speeches but I simply cannot picture him doing any kind of action. He is definitely not as experience as Mrs. Clinton, does not exhibit any superior intelligence, capabilities, and he has never been involve in the governing of any large group of people. Mrs. Clinton has first hand experience and knowledge of both governing Arkansas and the U.S. of A. through husband Bill for over 10 years. Now doesn't this show how Mr. Obama can not ever compare with Mrs. Clinton at all in any kind of capacity? Every time I listen to Mr. Obama, its like watching a televangelical show on tv. ALL WORDS AND NO SUBSTANCE.
For me, substance is everything. Mrs. Clinton, I think you are one classy lady to withstand all the hardship you have gone through in your life. I admire that very much. I know that when given the chance to govern the U.S of A., you will not only do the U.S. of A proud but the whole world as well. Vote for her people!!!!

Comments like this, "The US is in one hell of a mess right now" as posted by Serrin, go unchallenged for the most part because, well, those holding such opinions are usually closed-minded sheep with no interest in facts. Someone tells you "the sky is falling," and so the sky is falling. But ask yourself, who stands to gain if you believe it? Are they not those who want to take over? Most people are coping with life pretty well, but some are in a bad way. T'was ever thus. Seriously, what's so bad other than those things we really can't change? What would the critics really do that actually COULD be accomplished in the real world? EVERY president has been blamed for every bad thing that happens. Has ANY president really wanted to hurt the country? Study history, and you'll see it's wrong to blame any president for most of the nation's ills, or to think they can actually fix everything. Excessive passion for or against any politician is a waste of energy.

To think that Hillary really is best for the country or has a better chance at the general election is simply ignoring the facts. The republicans may not all be rallied in support of mccain, but i guarantee they will rally together in their hatred of Hillary. I understand that old women may feel like she speaks to them, but most other people feel like she is talking at them. All of the people who support Hillary would vote for Barack in the general election, but some of the people who support Barack would not even come out to vote. And in terms of the issues, they have essentially the same views on almost everything. The only differences are Healthcare and foreign policy. Hilary Clintons plan as illustrated by the fliers given out in Ohio would force people to buy the plan. She said "shame on you" but the facts are completely accurate. 1. How can she say everyone will have health care, but the only way to get this healthcare is by buying insurance, if she is not forcing them by penaltys to buy it. 2. The point it makes about NAFTA is not that she still endorces it but that she did support it when it was created and many years after. This like the fact that she voted for the Iraq war illustrates that while she may have spent more time in washington than Barack, this "experience" did not give her the judgement required to lead the country. Obviously nobody can be perfect, but this shows the two biggest problems facing the nation today, the economy and the war, are partially the fault of her and her husband.

Huckabee 08! psych.

I agree I was watching CNN tonight and all this mess about the picture of Obama is disqusting. They made fun of Hillary for her complaints about the flyers Obama is circulating, but all that was said about the picture of Obama was that it probably was Hillary's doing. My thoughts is that Obama is the one that put the picture out just so he can make it look like Hillary is playing him dirty pool. This is the kind of underhanded trick Obama would be likely to play. Is this what we want in the Whitehouse. I for one will never vote for Obama. I hope the Tribune keeps up the fair coverage of Hillary. Good for you Ellen you picked the best person to back. Love your show. I work but watch whenever I can.

Hillary is by far the best person for President. She is a brilliant woman. Maybe
that is her biggest problem in getting the nomination.
People are "hoping" for simple solutions to very serious problems in this country and they believe that Obama can deliver.

Hope is no substitute for experience.

Be careful what you wish for citizens..You may get a simple solution you do not like.

Hillary's responses showed class, wisdom, creativity, humor, and strength -- exactly the kind of gold qualities we need in our top leader. As far as picking on her mis-reference to Michigan, if only those who have never done the same cast stones, she will be unscathed. I prefer humanity over plastic -- she has my total admiration and my vote!

Hey Serrin, it wasn't the pledge of allegiance. Besides it was really the Clintons that got this mess rolling when those terrorists were training to fly in our country, and they were oblivious.

As a conservative, I am frankly shocked at the ugly turn the Democratic race has taken. Women saying other women should support Hillary for the sheer significance of having a female president, regardless of the quality or character of the candidate. Black people saying that blacks should blindly vote for Obama, for the very same reasons. Then some African-American leaders proclaiming that Obama isn't "black enough", for what that's worth. Ridiculous. And we have the "Rock Star" nature of the Obama campaign. Shouldn't you all be debating character and issues, not charisma, gender, and skin color? And Democrats have the gall to infer that Republicans are the ones who decide things based upon gender and minority status.....

But the other thing that bugs me is the media coverage here. I agree with the poster that pointed out how Obama's objections are mentioned very politely in the media, while Hillary's comments towards her opponent are mentioned as "attacks" on Obama. It's a total double-standard. Right now, Obama's charisma, and the public's blind desire for change (I think Hugo Chavez could win the Democratic nomination if he tried), seems to favor him in terms of media portrayal.

Meanwhile, the candidate with more federal legislative experience is portrayed like a bitter old woman with nothing to offer but condemnation. The press has been ANYTHING but neutral in the Democratic race.

I know this - if Obama wins the primaries, somebody somewhere is going to pull out his Rezko connections, and the fact that the vast majority of his legislative experience has been in the corrupt, do-nothing Illinois General Assembly. These are HARDLY solid qualifications for being leader of a world Superpower, and moderates will go with McCain as the proven politician over Obama's idealism and speeches, tipping the White House to the GOP. Mark my words.

However, if Hilary wins the primary, she's got a fighting chance, and if we know anything about the Clintons, it's that they know how to fight in elections. As a Republican, I say "go Obama", but as an American, I'm horrified by the slant the press has placed on these two candidates.

CAN HILLARY AND ELLEN PLEASE "WEAR A DRESS" WHEN HILLARY GIVE HER "EXIT GRACEFULLY...FAREWELL-THANK YOU...SUPPORT OBAMA FOR THE DEMOCRATIC TICKET SPEECH?

EXIT LIKE A LADYYYYYYY!!!

HILLARY & ELLEN, HUH? WHAT SIZE DRESS DO YOU WEAR?

Ellen DeGenerate...NOW there's a 'good' endorsement.

Almost as good as Farrakhan endorsing NObama.

God help us.

I didn't realize how much this race meant to me until just now. I was reading the article and began to get teary-eyed. I want to see a woman in the White House. I want Hillary to straighten out the mess our country is in. I want to know that I can sleep at night because our nation is in good, capable hands again.

I hold a doctorate degree and thus consider myself somewhat 'educated' to make an informed decision.

I have listened to many speeches and debates by both Senators Clinton and Obama and feel that Hillary is the better candidate for the top job. There are many angles to my conclusion, but I shall present one premise here, one of an economic flavor.

In my opinion, a namesake change without real objectives and plans does not put the "beef" on the table of Americans. America has enough creativity to go around at all social and economic levels such that a radical at the top helm may not add any additional value, and further, might not be optimum for the country. Democracy, in the sense of the largely economic market structure of the U.S. , where people are free to pursue their dreams is very much alive, still, I believe. These so-called 'evil' corporate leviathans today were born of democracy at some point in time. They too were once weak, small, and belonged to the 'grassroots'. But through sheer grit, innovation and a bit of luck, they have triumphed. Thus, the 'grassroots level change' that Senator Obama is proposing is indeed already occurring, and constantly. And for that reason, America has been the richest, powerful and fortunate country in the world for more than a half century. So, exactly, what is the 'change' that Senator Obama is pontificating about?

What is needed of the U.S. President is the ability to coordinate *NOT EVERYONE and EVERYTHING*, but gaps in society and the world at large where this 'democratic market structure' is not functioning too well. For this top job, a seasoned warrior with the know-how and established networks is is more salient to the success of bread and butter issues than a idealist. The most successful management consulting firms in the world do not hire innovators, but rather the 'cookie-cut' who have the skills, knowledge and experience to help steer and focus the efforts of the already existent great ideas floating all around America. Putting both candidates side by side, I find that the scope and impact of Senator Clinton's public office accomplishments are far more superior than Senator Obama's, through no fault of his but only time. But, the multitude of problems facing the U.S. now need IMMEDIATE remedy. Senator Clinton has no learning curve to overcome. I believe Senator Clinton is the best candidate for the job.

As an aside, I was initially less sanguine about a woman U.S., or for that matter, global president because I have always been socialized with the notion that a head-of-state is a male. to put it in perspective, our organization (i.e. men) have had more than numerous chances (whether successful or not). So if I may, without being chastised for argumentative inconsistency, I feel it is time to let a woman get her shot at the U.S. presidency; let history judge her. Inherently there are risks in voting for any president (nobody is infallible), but let's place the bet where there is 'hope' of true change. Senator Obama, despite his ethnic heritage, is quintessentially still a male. Black, white, yellow, green or whatever rainbow hue, I think we can all be equally competent if we want to, But, I cannot say so for gender because it is 'hardwired' in us. There has been a ton of studies documenting differences between females and males, such as management style, and its impact on outcomes. After all, men are from Mars and women are from Venus.

In reality, the Clinton campaign has been angry over the way it's being covered in the media in comparison to Obama. Clinton’s top spokesman, Howard Wolfson, told reporters earlier in the day that he believed a “double standard” existed in the media in the way the two candidates are being covered.

He's right. One of the candidates is totally turning people off with her depressing message. You just get this sense that the Clinton campaign offers more of the same old Washington BS! Hillary has lost my vote. I'm gonna vote for Obama. Experience or not, he's bright and can obviously hold his ground enought to rattle Hillarys cage. If spending to much money on doughnuts and pizza makes you ready on day one, I think I'll take a pass.

I am increasingly listening to Clinton about the unfair media scrutiny that Obama gets. Separate from that, I want to delve into this image that Hillary projects as the experienced one.
I am thinking this out as I go along.
From what I know, she has been a senator for eight years. Previous to that she held no office and ran no office or budget other than the office of the first lady. Previous to that she was the first lady of Arkansas.
They moved to New York at the end of Bill's term. She did win re-election.
Clinton is on the armed services committee that had the intelligence briefings on Iraq. She is also on the environment and public works cmte. Obama is on the foreign services committee which I would expect would give him the exposure to foreign relations. He is also on the committee for homeland affairs and the committee on veterans affairs. They both are on other cmtes.
If Hillary has the experience of being in the White House, I wonder how much exposure she had. She was the first lady, but not a cabinet member. She was one of Bill's closest advisers, I assume, but he also cheated on her (She was a victim. Not her fault nor do I blame her). My inference is that she was in high level meetings, but how much went on that she didn't know about. Do we consider her time there governing or is her experience tangential?
Again, this is my stream of thought going on here.
Obama, has only two years of experience in the US senate. Previous to that he had 7 years in the IL senate.
George Will had a good article talking about how Abraham Lincoln had no experience and the incumbent, James Buchanan, who had tons of experience, is widely regarded as one of our worst presidents.
To me, most of Hillary's experience appears to be by association. Obama's national experience appears to be limited. Is this experience that Hillary is talking about factual?

Hillary was great tonight-- Inspiring and funny too. Come on Texas, Ohio, Vermont & Rhode Island!

Sounds like Queen Hillary is doing anything she can to keep her deflated campaign alive. Clearly, America is sick of her shady politics.

Sick and tired of Obamatrons fueled and funded by Karl Rove to try to destroy the Clintons one more time.....You know what? they wont go away, the are persistent, figthers, warriors, and yes the three of them Hillary Bill and Chelsee united and a family with ups and downs but together fighting all you demagogues who can not stand the fact that a non-elitist family has done and cared so much for others. DO you really think that Obama and his passy do not want power? just look at his condecending stare and tell me. Tell me if a junior senator who with not even ONE year into his senate post decided to run for president....come on, grow up. If Hillary wants power, there are millions who are dying to give it to her. We kind of have a good idea what she would do it and LIKE IT!!!!!!!!

Hillary '08

I was at this event - the crowd was pumped! I loved the 5 point plan on renewable energy. And when Ellen asked the crowd if Hillary felt the press was biased against her --- the audience screamed/yelled YES! before Hillary could respond.
It's true. But we Hillary fans are tough!

Hillary Clinton has my vote because she is the best candidate for this country and in dealing with foreign countries as commander in chief. Barack Obama would be a disaster with his lack of experience, wisdom, dirty tricks with propaganda literature and questionable patriotism. He's too dumb to even know that NAFTA gained for the United States 27 millions jobs, not lost 1 million as he foolishly claims. He's an air head who reads other people speeches and takes credit for them as his own words. He's such an unoriginal thinker. Who is he, really? Many in the media have engaged in slanted reporting against a woman who they resent running for the highest office in the land. I don't understand women who attack one of their own with a string of sexist adjectives, even using the "b" word. Perhaps they caught sight of their own reflections.

What I want to know is, how are the reich-wingers going to respond when democrats start playing the anti-mccain ads approved by bu$h in 2000?If McCain wasn't good enough then, why is he now? Huh?

Gender inequity is alive and kicking!Sad! Sad!`Sad!

Hillary just wants all that gold for herself

Amazing - how quickly we've forgotten all the scandal and intrigue that follows the Clinton family.

I, for one, cannot fathom how Bill got away with cheating on her.

I cannot understand why none of Hillary's supporters does a very quick fact check to review all the headaches that led to Bush being elected as a result of "Clinton fatigue". Remember how Bush became popular because he was our option to restore dignity to the White House?? Didn't work out too well, but that is a legacy of the Clinton administration that I cannot let go, and I'll be damned to repeat it this time.

The unleashing of the smear campaigns this week really sealed it for me...how classically Clintonian. I was on the fence until last weekend - I now gladly cast my support for Obama....shame on you Hillary.

Obama is the glitter, while Clinton is the real gold! It's time for the Democratic Party to start unifying behind Clinton-Obama '08!!!

So, Clinton thinks she's already won Michigan? I don't think so. When I stepped into the voting booth last month, the candidate I wanted to vote for wasn't on the ballot. That's not any kind of election with which I'm familiar in this country. Unless Michigan has a "do over" with both her name and Obama's on the ballot, she hasn't won a thing.

Puzzle me this: If Hillary is, as she says, the one to get things done...why is her campaign failing so miserably whilst Sen. Obama is doing just fine. I'd say we certainly wouldn't want this country run as Hillary is running her campaign.

Obama is the glitter, while Clinton is the real gold! It's time for the Democratic Party to start unifying behind Clinton-Obama '08!!!

No one can honestly say that the media have treated Hillary and Obama the same. It's simply not true and there are hundreds of examples out there if you look at them without bias.
The biggest issue I have is that because she is a woman she is criticized for being too tough--which she had to emphasize because of the fear of a woman not being tough enough--, and then she shows emotion and everyone screams she's faking it (which carries subtle, subliminal implications of gender) or too emotional.
Bush cries in Germany and it doesn't barely make the news!
People all over who have worked places where Obama has appeared complain about his demands. Her staff forgot to leave a tip and it's CNN all day long! and notice he is the one who stays away from mingling with the crowd--not a peep about that. She goes right out into crowds without being surrounded by guards and no one gives her credit for actually interacting with the "real people".
I'm frustrated over this whole thing.

All those people who are for Obama are the same FOOLS who voted for Bush because they are easily wooed by big promises.

Myself, I like Hillary. But her negatives are at 50%, and rising if my black co workers are any indication.

A President was be elected by a strong cross section of voters. George W Bush figured out how to get his approval at 52%, and how to steal it in Florida.

If Hillary prevails, it'll be because she figures out how to weasel her way in after losing both popular vote and the elected delegate count to Obama. Possible, but now it's a long shot. And the prize might be worthless if won by a scorched earth campaign.

You can call her evil, you can call her toxic, you can even call her witch, you can call her whatever you want.

She's intelligent, and she has the guts to stand up for what she believes is right. This is one candidate whom I truly believe will tell special interest groups, even if they DID contribute to her campaign, "NO", if that's the answer that is in the best interests of this country.

I was very lucky today, as being a volunteer, here in Ohio for her campaign, to get to see and speak with former President Bill Clinton. This was in a small venue, with no reporters. Just him, Secret Service, of course, and the volunteers. I was very much impressed with the time he took to speak to us, and to come and shake our hands and chat with us. I was even more impressed with the kindess and gentleness he showed the veterans in the crowd. I stood off to the side after having my "turn" and watched as he knelt and engaged each and every vet, most of whom were in wheelchairs. I don't think it's something I will soon forget. There was no media present, no one taking pictures, this was not a photo op. Those came later at the speech he gave at our local university.

I was very lucky indeed.

I have nothing against Obama, I don't know enough about him to have anything against him. He's too young, and too inexperienced for my taste.

Hillary 08

Experience!what the hell kind of experience does Hillary have? no disrespect to her at all, but did she help Bill in ways we don't know about? Please someone tell me about this experience we hear so much about. If she wins the nominee I will support her even though she cannot beat Macain!

YOU MIGHT BE AN IDIOT:-)

If you think Barack Obama with little or no experience would be better than Hillary Clinton with 35 years experience.

You Might Be An Idiot!

If you think that Obama with no experience can fix an economy on the verge of collapse better than Hillary Clinton. Whose ;-) husband (Bill Clinton) led the greatest economic expansion, and prosperity in American history.

You Might Be An Idiot!

If you think that Obama with no experience fighting for universal health care can get it for you better than Hillary Clinton. Who anticipated this current health care crisis back in 1993, and fought a pitched battle against overwhelming odds to get universal health care for all the American people.

You Might Be An Idiot!

If you think that Obama with no experience can manage, and get us out of two wars better than Hillary Clinton. Whose ;-) husband (Bill Clinton) went to war only when he was convinced that he absolutely had to. Then completed the mission in record time against a nuclear power. AND DID NOT LOSE THE LIFE OF A SINGLE AMERICAN SOLDIER. NOT ONE!

You Might Be An Idiot!

If you think that Obama with no experience saving the environment is better than Hillary Clinton. Whose ;-) husband (Bill Clinton) left office with the greatest amount of environmental cleanup, and protections in American history.

You Might Be An Idiot!

If you think that Obama with little or no education experience is better than Hillary Clinton. Whose ;-) husband (Bill Clinton) made higher education affordable for every American. And created higher job demand and starting salary’s than they had ever been before or since.

You Might Be An Idiot!

If you think that Obama with no experience will be better than Hillary Clinton who spent 8 years at the right hand of President Bill Clinton. Who is already on record as one of the greatest Presidents in American history.

You Might Be An Idiot!

If you think that you can change the way Washington works with pretty speeches from Obama, rather than with the experience, and political expertise of two master politicians ON YOUR SIDE like Hillary and Bill Clinton..

Best regards

jacksmith...

I used to have respect for Hillary and Bill Clinton but after seeing the way Hillary acted this weekend in her speeches, anger and total disrespect for another Democrat I will NEVER EVER vote for this woman. SHAME on her!!!!!

Clinton Compares Obama To Bush

In a speech at George Washington University yesterday, Hillary Clinton compared Barack Obama to Bush, saying "We cannot let that happen again"

Obama, of course, is not Bush.

Whereas Bush in intellectually incurious, and views intellect and complexity with fear, masked by a reflexive and reductionistic contempt, Obama is intellectually curious, seeks out and embraces ideas, and is interested in their utility, rather than their conforming to a narrow and predetermined plan, and will bring this intellectual strength and ability to his policies.

Whereas Bush is inflexible to the point of parody--and tragedy--making a virtue of failing to reexamine assumptions even when it is clear they are not working-- because cognitive rigidity is, for him, equated with strength, as opposed to the "weakness" of making distinctions--Obama has both firm convictions and the ability to advance and adapt those beliefs to changing circumstances. He has the ability to adapt on the basis of effectiveness and utility--rather than to react impulsively, to stand stubbornly still without any substantive basis, or to fail to adapt, based on fear.

Whereas Bush begins from a point of defensiveness, viewing much of the world in terms of those who need to be taken down a peg from their know-it-all-stance--the hallmark of a life of earlier resentments, imposed on the world of foreign policy--Obama operates from a position of engagement with people and with ideas. He wants to know; is capable of objective evaluation, and seeks to bring new voices into his dialogue, rather than deflecting them.

Whereas Bush has used advisers as a circle of wagons and a complexity filter, keeping criticism, real-world intricacies, and cognitive dissonance to a minimum, Obama appears to welcome advice, using advisers as a resources rather than as a shield.

And, whereas Bush, connects with the resentments of the angry everyday man, who feels unfairly downtrodden by those that, in their intellectual and emotional confidence and passion, remind them of their own flaws and fears, and who resents those who might receive help, when they feel they have received none, is unlike Obama--who connects with the willingness to aspire rather than to the fear of it; to the hope of devoting the best of oneself to a community and nation rather than self-protectively dividing it; and to the desire to replace the primacy of tactics and cronyism in favor of shared principle and truth."

Go Hill! Don't mind all the bias in the media or the sexism in America. I don't care if you said MI instead of TX! None of that matters like Bammy being endorsed by that huge hater, Farrakhan!

I will tell you this, I am voting for Senator Obama now, I will never vote for Hillary. Ever. If she wins the nomination I will just stay home in November.

Jacksmith...I appreciate your comments, but comparing Obama to Bill Clinton is not really relevant to this debate. In my opinion, an "Idiot" is someone who votes for someone based on another individuals' accomplishments. When George W ran for president I heard the same argument about how he would be a good president because he was familiar with Washington politics because of his father. Look how well that turned out.

My wife is an attorney, but that does not in anyway qualify me to give legal advice. As a matter of fact, I'm probably more dangerous because I think I know a little bit about the law from being around her so much.

If Obama was this far behind all would be asking him to step aside so we could get on with the general election. Hillary has gotten too negative and she refuses to answer questions straight forward or ever say she is sorry for anything; she or Bill. I will have to skip Ellen show today. Where was the mother side of Hillary when her husband the most powerful man in the world was having an affair with an intern. I guess it is okay for Bill to screw up someone else's daughter life. As a woman I would have more trust if she had said I am sorry for my husband's prey on this young woman. It would have been the right thing to do. So all you mothers, fathers, brothers, and young women BEWARE!

As a former supporter I had hope for a different ending for the Clintons since it seem the reputation was the road of repair; it is still not too late to walk away.

Go Hill! Don't mind all the bias in the media or the sexism in America. I don't care if you said MI instead of TX! None of that matters like Bammy being endorsed by that huge hater, Farrakhan!

Nice propaganda. Now we know why Hillary has lost Americas trust.

I've been accused of being sexist because I don't want to vote for Hilliary.

Someone else pegged it for me earlier in the comments..its not that I wouldn't vote for a woman, just not this one.

First, I just don't like her.

Second, she wants this way too much.

When I started to look for a candidate, I took the race, sex, etc out of the candidate.

I asked myself if I would vote for Hilliary if she were a man. My answer was still no. Being first lady is not "experience". Being a one term legislator and putting out "puff" bills is not a legislator. Being a divider is not being a legislator.

So, all things being equal, I'll wait and vote for a woman when they are the best candidate period.

This year, the best candidate and the one with the most chance of actually accomplishing something in their term is Obama.

Kevin

Wow. The difference in media coverage has been so stark and obvious, I sometimes wonder if the Obama "fans" have had time to get their eyes and ears out of the clouds and actually do a little research on the subject. She "pesters" while he "challenges", when she is up by 200 delegates it is a "near tie and virtual dead heat", when he is up 60, it is a "blowout" and "it's over". Come on folks, even if you are blindly in love with your man, at least try to be open-minded on what has happened in this country. A media "lovefest" with Obama, an artist who paints with words, and a crucifixion of Hillary, because she is a strong, accomplished, hard-working woman with a plan. Just look back at some MSNBC tapes and you'll see the ridiculous "coverage" by our so called media. Or when she gives a foreign policy speech yesterday having just been endorsed by some of the biggest, most experienced (there's that "e" word, again, shame) Generals (she has 27 military leaders on her side BTW) and the place is filled with media and not one of them shows this live. Had Obama done the same, the media would have had the headlines "Our Commander in Chief" splashed all over the news, papers, and Internet. If she doesn't win this on her experience and we elect another "likable" candidate who will "unite the country" becasue. well. he says so, I am going to move and at the least turn off the ridiculously biased media we call "journalists".

Goooo Hillary - you rock!

Hillary Clinton is a fake, a liar, and a bigot.

What she did to Barack Obama yesterday is UNFORGIVABLE!!!

hillary cries.....vote Obama.

Thank you Jack Smith, an intelligent thinker. Obviously you are not an idiot. Now lets see. A looming depression. $400 billion in national debt when the new president steps into office. Unemployment on it's way up & rising. Heath care? How do you lower the cost? By having uninsured people going to the emergency room? I think Hillary's idea of some sort of way to get those unwilling to join up be made to do so is a better idea than hitting someone, O'Bama, with a fine if they end up there. Really nice time to add to someones burden when they are the most vulnerable. And how will they pay it? Seems to me this idea will drive up health cost not down. Only by having the healthy as well as the sick on board will lower costs. Nobody gets through this life perfectly healthy. Can you imagine what car insurance would cost if people did not get it until they had an accident? So now we want to put someone in the most complicated job in the world whose main problem is the economy that is about to get worse & all they have to prove they can do the job of making corrections is a poor thought out health care plan. He really thinks he can get the health industry to just lower their prices without universal health care? What experience does he have with managing a budget? This is so important! Two heads are better than one, I for one want to see two people in the drivers seat that have been there, done that! Our country's future is at stake and recessions can become depressions. So good people, not the silly ones that base their decisions on personalites & private problems from the past ( I bet they watch soap opera's)consider O'Bama's words. He says change comes from the bottom up. OK! That means you! The current legislators are in office because YOU put them their. We as a people are the biggest spenders in the world & a lot of that is beyond what we can afford. Thus the use of extending credit cards. On average a lot of people are spending more than their income. Yes O'Bama, it starts from the ground up. How about telling us how to change? It is the "people" that has put this country in it's current financial disaster. The I gotta have it and I want it now generation.

In the begining I was more of an Obama supporter. But the past so many months I was annoyed by the lack of substance. I kept hearing change, but what change? I checked the websites and listend to the debates and watched the speeches. I voted for Hillary in the primary. The substance was there. Obama seems a bit pompous and arrogant. And some of his behavior hasn't been as polite as he tries to make it seem.

Well at least we know a good bit about Clinton - what exactly do we know about Obamam? Huckster - Snake-oil sales man?

Here is a nice place to look for some interesting insights to his makeup
http://www.atimes.com/atimes/Front_Page/JB26Aa01.html

How does one get experience to become a President? Did all the past presidents, starting with George Washington, have presidential experience before they came to the White House?

I think it's a bit sad that Obama supporters are such vicious people especially towards a person who has dedicated her life to public service. Get the facts before you spew your venom! Some of you are so vicious, I wouldn't want your support!

Clinton has my vote and my respect.

The darling Golden Child has neither.

Hil-Billery and Ellen Degenerate.

I like how the Hillbots get upset when the press shows Hillary as the unlikeable jerk she is. America has spoken and there will be no more Bush-Clinton dynasty.

Go Hillary! '08!!

As a lifelong liberal democrat, I will be voting for John McCain in November if Obama is the nominee. I'm afraid the messianic fervor and inspiration following Obama would come to a screeching halt the day after his inauguration. Does anyone seriously think the Repubs will throw support to the most liberal democrat in the senate.

@ ForeignerWhoCares
"I hold a doctorate degree and thus consider myself somewhat 'educated' to make an informed decision"

Here in Chicago if you have a doctorate degree plus $1.75 cents you can ride the CTA bus..but that's about it.

If Mrs. Clinton cannot manage here own campaign, how in the hell is she going to manage the U.S. government?
Sen Obama is leading by example, take a look at how he is running his campaign.

I am so sick and tired of hearing about Hillary's "so called" experience. The only thing that witch has experience in is extortion, manipulation and greed. Let's just hope Obama does not have any more essays from grammar school out there, because trust me, the real Hillary is just getting warmed up. She is capable of stooping to any measures to get what she wants....just ask Vince Foster..oh, wait, you can't! Vince Foster is dead!

I'm so freaking tired hearing about Hillary experience.
She's trying to have it both ways. Used her experience as first lady, but distant herself in regard to NAFTA since it does not benefit her. The woman makes me sick. She's so confused, she has no idea what the %$@@### is going on with her campaign, her husband sex life, how the hell is she's going to know about our country?

No matter what, Hillary will be put in the negative light. Why you ask, just watch the media. People are so starved for change, they are walking around blind. Someone please, give the man a shepards hook, just in case one might open its eyes and realize how ignorant they have been, and break to the other side.

Reminds me of the older lady who thought she borrowed a fem spray from her daughter to prep for a trip to the lady dr. only to discover she had sprayed her biz end with a bit of glitter.

Yes, everyone in the news is so "unfair" to Hillary. That's why in the national news you'll hear her referred to as SENATOR Clinton and Bill as PRESIDENT Clinton and George W as "Mister" Bush. Very fair reporting.......

I believe all the candidates running for president genuinely believe they are the best person for the job. Each of them has strengths that make them good leaders.

I see the difference between Obama and Clinton is substance. Every time I hear an Obama sound bite on TV, he is talking about change. The speeches sound great; there are a lot of cheering, excited people surrounding him. He does not speak about what he is going to change or how he plans to change. Rarely does he personally attack a candidate (he does attack Bush).

When Clinton speaks, she discusses the issues. People don't want to hear about this (yet).

Obama has struck a chord with voters (and with those who have never voted but plan to in this election). He is telling them what they want to hear. Too bad.

No matter who is nominated to represent each party, the winner will be the person who gets out the vote.

Clinton is a tough woman and I give her great credit but Obama is a phony progressive and Nader is the best and here is why:

Over the past few months, we’ve heard a lot of rhetoric about change, hope, courage and experience from Barack Obama and John McCain.

But what about the facts on the ground?

Take a moment to test your civics knowledge in this election year.

Of the following Presidential candidates – Ralph Nader, Barak Obama and John McCain – which one supports a single payer, Canadian style, free choice, Medicare for all health care system?

Answer: Ralph Nader

Which one supports solar energy and would take nuclear power off the table?

Answer: Ralph Nader

Which one would cut the huge bloated wasteful military budget?

Answer: Ralph Nader

Which one would reverse U.S. Middle East policy in Israel/Palestine, Iraq and Iran?

Answer: Ralph Nader

Which one would launch an aggressive crackdown on corporate crime and corporate welfare?

Answer: Ralph Nader

Who has consistently supported the Palestinian right to nationhood and peaceful settlement?

Answer: Ralph Nader
(Obama has flip-flopped and has now been bought off by the Israel lobby)

Who has never been in cahoots with the likes of Exelon corp. or Rezko?

Answer: Ralph Nader

Who has spent his entire life working for the common people like you and me and has written books to advance the rights of consumers?

Answer: Ralph Nader
(Obama wrote his books about himself while Nader was looking out for us.)

Who has been direct about proclaiming that Bush is a war criminal?

Answer: Ralph Nader

Which candidate has opposed all wars, every time?

Answer: Ralph Nader
(Obama supports bombing Pakistan and war against Afghanistan)

Some claim that having a racial minority as president would send a positive message to the world. So which candidate would be best suited to address the troubed areas in the world?

Answer: Once again, Ralph Nader, an Arab-American
(Who better to quell the anti-American sentiment in Arab world than an Arab-American)

Can you guess the others?

What's off the table for Ralph?

The empty rhetoric.

The empty gesture.

The empty politics.

What’s on the table?

Taking these issues seriously – all the way to action.

Challenging the corporate domination of our democracy.

Organizing young and old alike, 1,000 in every Congressional district in the country, half a million strong, to take back the country from the corporations.

If Obama or McCain and their parties had seriously and effectively addressed these and other necessities vital to the American people, there would be no need for Ralph Nader to run for President.

Ralph Nader would be happily out of business.

But we’ve waited so very long – and still – not a blip on the political radar screen on any of these issues.

So in this pivotal election year, ask yourself this fundamental question:

Which side are you on?

The corporate criminals, the big banks, Wall Street, the credit card companies, the nuclear power industry, the war profiteers, the agribusiness giants, the health insurance industry, the polluters, the drug companies, the unionbusters, Big Oil, the corporate Democrats and corporate Republicans?

Or with people fighting back?

From the information so far Obama has not been able to get very many traditional Democratic vote. He is bringing new people into the party to vote for him. Like Republicans and Indpendents. Real Democrats won't vote for him because the party used to have a brain. The party is looking more and more Republican to me. I think he should take all those millions and millions of dollars people are giving him and start his own party. Something like, "The Party of the Most Divine Obama" or something along those lines. I know the Democratic Party will have one less member if we are stupid enough to give him the nomination. I can't believe we are falling for this "I'm a uniter" again. We have the attention span of gnats.

Well, the whole world has seen how Dubya can "manage the U.S. government" - incompetently. If America wanted to vote for the person with experience running the government of Texas, then Lt. Gov. Bob Bullock would have been President in 2000 & 2004, because he was the guy who really did all of the hard work running Texas; Dubya was nothing more than a figurehead posing for photo-ops and hosting dinner parties.

Go Barack!

CLEVELAND (AP) -- Sen. Christopher Dodd endorsed one-time presidential rival Barack Obama on Tuesday and said it is time for Democrats to join forces to defeat the Republicans in the fall campaign.

"I don't want a campaign that is divisive here, and there's a danger in that," Dodd said, although he denied he was nudging Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton to end her candidacy.

Dodd said Obama was "ready to be president and I am ready to support him in this campaign."

The two men appeared together at a news conference. Dodd is the first of the Democratic campaign dropouts to endorse another candidate.

He said Obama "has been poked and prodded, analyzed and criticized, called too green, too trusting and for all of that has already won" more than half the states and millions of votes.

"It's now the hour to come together. ... This is the moment for Democrats and independents and others to come together, to get behind this candidacy," he said.

We have had plenty of "experienced" presidents who have turned out to be a total disaster. JFK had no more experience than Obama and not many people have complaints about his work as president. The ability to inspire and motivate into action the REAL leaders of this country, THE AMERICAN PEOPLE, is much more important than time spent in Washington.

Besides, although she did have some responsibilities in his administration, Hillary was a first lady, not the vice president!!! What we should be focusing on is their time in the senate which is roughly equal and during which Barack has authored over 150 bills while Hillary has roughly 20. There's experience for you...

I'm for the Gal!!!

She's out there taking hits for the needs of the American people.

That's speaks volumes to me.

GodSpeed HILLARY.

Kudos, Ellen for stepping up to the plate for her.

Obama is all talk no backbone. He's the American Idol candidate, the McDonalds of presidential hopefuls.
Experience is the key and all I see from him is the typical Illinois machine lawyer/politician courting the money.

I am glad that at least this article wasn't completely drooling at the mouth at the mere mention of Obama. Thanks for attempting to stay positive. Go Hillary!!

Do we really want an angry, tired person for president. Do we really want someone that stays cool while her husband is unfaithful and cries when under stress on the campaign trail?

Do we want a woman when so much of the middle east cannot recognize a woman as a leader?

I have nothing in particular against Mrs Clinton.
I just don't think she's as prepared as she does.

We actually NEED someone likeable. The world is sick of war monger presidents.
White grey haired woman for Obama.

Real Democrats won't vote for him because the party used to have a brain. The party is looking more and more Republican to me. These are the kind of no brain comments that make me crazy. Ellis, I suggest you do a little homework before you spout this kind of drivel. Obama is gaining democratic support. Having given a considerable amout of money to the party I know this to be fact. Facts. Try researching them!!!

Propaganda doesn't work and I'm no cult member.

Obama 2008.

Why should anyone believe anything Hillary says? She would sell her soul to be president, and it is obvious to so many of us that her campaign is all but dead. She claims that you must be experienced to be president, but never seems to remember that her husband was governor of the mighty state of Arkansas before his forgettable time in the White House. She is divisive and negative to an extreme, and that is the last thing this country needs. I only hope she goes away forever when she loses. It is time for a new voice.

It is apparent to me that the media in general (not all, however) are biased in their reporting. I just want it known that I will vote my conscience and have no need to consider the bias. My conscience tells me that Hillary Clinton remains the most intelligent, tenacious candidate. Sen. Obama is a worthy competitor but I believe Sen. Clinton to have the edge.

Take into account that a big part of being the US Prez is facing the global threat of terrorism and maintaining significant relationships in Muslim countries that are needed as allies. Since many of the leaders in those countries do not respect women in authoritative positions, how can Hillary be effective? I don't see any real debate on the issue of her or Obama's effectiveness in the role of Global politics. The US is not the world, and the world is a big place. Much bigger than what lies within the 50 states. Wake up people, the Prez needs to be someone who can face that reality. It doesn't seem like the media or the voters are addressing that issue!!

hilly destroyed hilly, she had nothing to offer. don't blame anybody else for her loss.

As a female Canadaian and small business owner, I have been watching the election process in the U.S. Hillary is definetly the most qualified candidate... without a doubt. My fear is that the American men and women cannot wrap their heads around the fact that a women could be president and actually do a great job. Obama preaches without solution. He says the same thing over and over. To hear the ridiculous criticisms towards Hillary drives me crazy..such as her hair , her voice, her clothes etc. When was the last time they criticized a man for his clothing or his hair style. How ridiculous!
Hillary is on the brink of making history and clearing the path for all women in North America. "The land of opportunity"?? We think that we are so advanced in United States and Canada. I wonder.Other countries less significant have been able to look past gender and elect a women. Look at her qualifications...her strengths and her track record. If Hillary does not become president, the people of United Staes deserve to suffer the consequences.
GO HILLARY!
