The Swamp

by Mark Silva

Sens. Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama are now "essentially tied'' in the Gallup Poll's daily tracking of the presidential camapaign. In Gallup's rolling survey, the tracking results for Feb. 8-10 show Clinton claiming the support of 46 percent of Democrats, Obama 44 percent.

Clinton's advantage has "eroded'' over the past five day, Gallup adds, noting that the newest results are the first to reflect the results of Obama's strong wins in three primary and caucus states over the weekend. The results also reflect what has become an even race between Obama and Clinton for the delegates needed for their party's nomination.

Gallup is interviewing 1,000 adults eady day. The results of the three-day survey include 1,279 Democratic and Democratic-leaning voters and 978 Republican and Republican-leaning voters. Among Republicans surveyed, Sen. John McCain of Arizona has the support of 56 percent, former Gov. Mike Huckabee of Arizona 25 percent.

The possible margin of error is plus or minus three percentage points, making the Clinton-Obama matchup a statistical tie.

Here's a look at the trend lines for Clinton, in dark green, Obama, medium green, and former Sen. John Edwards of North Carolina, light green:

The NY Daily News reports: "Bill Clinton, touring black churches in Washington and Maryland, which hold primaries Tuesday, said he understands voters face a tough choice between his wife and Barack Obama." Don't churches risk losing their tax exempt status if they engage in political exercises?

Note the trends of the lines in the graph: Hillary in a nose-dive, Obama ascending. The question now is whether the leaders in the party will allow a black man to win or whether they will back-door sabotage him in some way with delegate chicanery.

Gee, I wonder why the Clintons won't release their financial records, especially since they're "loaning" their campaign $5 million.

Could THIS be the reason?

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/01/31/us/politics/31donor.html

The dems are divided don't matter. Republicans will win.

Hilary is in total panic! - she has no momentum in her campaign at all.

If the Grand and Superdelegates of the Democratic Party do not support and endorse the Voters wishes they will come to regret it.

Barack Obama is the only one that can defeat McCain, some site he is not experienced enough, was Tony Blair in the UK experienced back in 1997, No!

Yes Church's Risk losing tax status if they promote one candidate or politcal issue oppenly. However it is not considered an endorsement or promotion to allow them to speak at their church. It is in fact common place as Obama did on MLK day in a historical political speach at Ebenezer.

I think it's an interesting graphic. There are at least three points where Hilary saw a jump up at the same time Obama saw one down. It would be interesting to match these up with dates to see what caused that occurrence. Was it after a debate?

Bottom Line:

It looks like you got some vote fraud hankypanky, and selling of votes going on in the democratic caucuses. Obama seems to be doing disproportionately well in the caucuses where it is easier to commit vote fraud, and sell votes. Obama has not been doing as well in the non caucus primary's where you can't cheat the vote as easily.

I smell a pole cat. I smell the Karl Rove vote fraud machine at work. This looks like past presidential elections where most voters leaving the poles said they voted for the other guy. But Bush still won. No wonder Obama thinks the republicans have some good ideas. Apparently a lot of republicans are voting for Obama in the democratic caucuses.

The insurance companies, and medical industry that have been ripping you off, and killing you are determined to keep you, the American people from having good universal health care. So it seems they are supporting Obama. Along with the republican vote fraud machine.

This looks like a great story for a team of aggressive investigative reporters. Or maybe some good documentary film makers like Michael Moore, or Oliver Stone.

If I were the Clinton's, I would focus like a laser bean on what has been going on in the democratic caucuses. No wonder the Republicans like Obama so much. Looks like he's their man in the democratic caucuses.

I'm absolutely convinced now that Hillary Clinton is your best choice for good universal health care coverage. And HR 676 (Medicare For All). "Single payer, Tax Supported, Not For Profit, True Universal Health Care" free for all as a right. Like every other developed country in the world has. See: http://www.house.gov/conyers/news_hr676.htm

“HR 676:
For church goers: less money to insur. companies and more to the church- lots more.
Srs on Medicare: save way over $100/wk. Because no more medigap, long term care & dental insur. needed. No more drug bills.”

They really think you are all stupid, inattentive cash cows... It may be time to bring back Bad Bill, Good Bill.

You know, I'm very dissapointed that the media, in large part, has turned the Democratic race for president into black voters vs. white females race. This is disturbing! Both Obama and Clinton has implored the press to move on but the press continues to go against proverbial wisdom and reports on voter's gender/race and race. Every "exit" poll is define by race or gender. On the Republican side, the media never ask the candidates about Domestic issues specifically, Urban problems, infrastructure, or never a issue about race; other than, perhaps a inference assessing Immigration. I hope the voters see above the presses race baiting. In my view, the leading candidate's have.

The NY Daily News reports: "Bill Clinton, touring black churches in Washington and Maryland, which hold primaries Tuesday..."
Somehow nobody noticed that when California is over and these black regions are concerned, Billary replaced the Hispanic campain manager to Black. I bet they will switch to Hispanic again before Texas.
And the "voters" are happy.

Democrats so divided it doesn't matter?

What matters just as much right now is that the Republicans are divided. McCain has real problems with his party's conservative segment.

There's time to fix that, and there's also time for Hillary, Obama race to come to a non-destructive conclusion.

Long way to go. The one thing we do know is that millions of voters, such as qster, are challenged betw the ears.

It's too soon to say whether Obama's ascent will continue.

I'd hardly call a 6-point post-Feb 5 decline a "nosedive" for Clinton, as Gerry asserts.

It's best to take a wait-and-see approach. Let's face it: Clinton's not going away, and Obama's current momentum is not likely to last all the way to the convention.

I don't like at all that dems are choosing style over substance. I like Obama...but he's WAY too green. Say what you want about Hillary's experience, it's still more than his. It's as though it doesn't matter who's in the White House as long as it's a dem and makes me very uncomfortable...as a dem! Yes, I want a Democrat but at what cost? Everyone is on this Obama bandwagon and they can't even tell you why. They just are. That's not good enough.

A political milieu. If McCain gets nominated, antiwar Republicans (about 11-12% of the registered voters) will strongly consider sitting this out. The extreme right-wing Republicans will probably split on voting or sitting out. If Obama is nominated, there will be a loss from bigots and latinos who may vote for McCain. However, he picks up the antiwar Democrats and independents (the majority of them - some will go with McCain) which should more than make up for any losses. If Clinton gets nominated, she will definitely lose the antiwar Democrat and Independent group, but will pick up more latino votes than Obama. The result should be a strongly negative net, however. I think Clinton would lose, and Obama would win against McCain.

Let's see how democratic the Democrat Party is when they steal the election from the people and give it to Hil-Billary

who is this "jacksmith" blogger? Someone needs to set his straight on a few facts...

You guys really need to start editing this stuff. It's reading like a college daily.

Now watch Hillary swing into all the dirty tricks she can use. She will do anything to get elected. Not a coincidence that she now has an Afican-American heading her campaign.
Maybe even more "tears".

It is absolutely astounding that the Tribune would report on the shake-up with HRC's campaign and completely failed to mention that her new campaign chief, Maggie Williams, was caught-up in the Travel-Gate scandal that rocked the Clinton White House a little over 10 years ago. Williams had to defend herself to the tune of $300,000 in legal fees and testified before Congress about the scandal and figure at the head of it, Johnny Chung, who racked up more than 51 "visits" to the White House, and who was later indicted for fraud!

Read the rest of the story here:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/arianna-huffington/who-is-maggie-williams_b_85909.html

Well Jacksmith, you contend that there MUST be something sneaky going on simply because Hillary lost?

How about all of those primaries where they voted? What does that say?

It seems to me that it would be MUCH harder to pull something during a caucus, as all your neighbors are there in public.

Where's your proof?

Oh, that's right, you don't have any; other than a mindless "I don't like it so there must be something wrong."

Get a grip.

Stealing election...what is this nonsense people of speaking of. I think all the Obama supporters have lost grasp of reality...last I checked Hillary Clinton is winning the popular vote by some 600,000 votes. Maine...had 3,000 caucus goers....California had over 2 million. Obama supporters give me a freaking BREAK. Open your eyes to the realities of the situation, Obama winning Maine, Utah, and Idaho and the other states with less than 10,000 caucaus goers is WORTHLESS. NEW YORK, JERSEY, CALIFORNIA. The supporters of Hillary in California outnumber about 10 obama victories. GIVE ME A BREAK.

The graph has been up/ down so I would not say that Hillary is in a nose dive and Obama in an upswing. Nor would I say that the Democratic Party would back stage sabotage Obama because of his color. Obama doing as well as he is proves that most whites do not discriminate. How ever there is discrimination against Hillary for being a woman. That being said, no one should look at their race or gender when voting, only their character intelligence and experience should come into play when voting on a presidential candidate. They both have excellent character and are intelligent; however Hillary far out weighs Obama in the experience factor. If they were both applying for jobs Hillary would be hired hands down due to her experience of seeing the problem, discovering the root of the problem, solving the problem, and putting the plan into action. She has actually helped millions upon millions of people. She has done this time and time again. Obama has not done this once. What he has done is used his God given talent of giving speeches to entice people to vote for him. He is excellent at giving speeches. Hillary however is better at debates; she has more to bring to the table. She has more thought out and developed plans than Obama. Obama knows this which is why he is afraid to debate Hillary more than twice. He knows that most people don’t truly research the candidates. They just listen to speeches and whoever gives the best speech is their candidate. If people would only research the candidates, they would find that Hillary far outweighs Obama on the resume for President of the United States.

Thank you Maurice! Why is it black vs white and male vs female? I'm sick of this. And what's more we have people saying they will "leave" the party if they don't get their way. Absurd.

Let's talk issues. Let's discuss WHY one healthcare plan is better than the other. Let's talk about exactly HOW to heal the economy and cut the deficit.

Actually, Sherrie, Obama has helped veterans get the care they needed when the VA wasn't doing its job.

"The people" have researched both candidates and the more they learn about Obama the more they like.

With the Clintons, it's the opposite.

Here's a bit of "research." for you:

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/01/31/us/politics/31donor.html

Bottom line, 'Jacksmith', is that your girl is losing and you come up with a lame theory about voter fraud. Yeah, like the "machine" really wants to help Obama at all cost.Get the Clintons to release her papers from the library and you will see what a fraud is. SHE is the reason healthcare didnt get done 15 years ago and NOW all of the sudden she is an expert?
Just take the loss and keep living well people.

time for Hillary to turn on the ol' waterworks.

Look for an innocuous question from a upper-middle-aged female citizen to cause her to well up.

Since many of Clinton's support comes from the uneducated, union members, and hispanics, I wonder which group is getting wise to her smarmy campaign and tactics.

It is Obama, or I am staying home in November!

"PUBLIC INTEGRITY SECTION OF THE JUSTICE DEPARTMENT SPEAKS"

WE GOT THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD IN OUR HANDS, AND KARL ROVE HAS HIS HAND ON MY HAND, SO HIS HAND IS MY HAND AS WELL AS MY HAND BEING HIS HAND.

SO WE HAVE YOUR VOTE ON OUR MIND AND OUR MIND ON YOUR VOTE.

BUSH AMERICA STYLE!

I can't wait for the next debate. Obama is chicken to even debate her again because Hillary will call him out. Obama has NO substance, but he knows how to preach. Our nation does not need a preacher, we need a leader and Hillary is it. Everyone would sleep better at night knowing a woman who cares more and has done more for this whole country (a he** of a lot more than any of us bloggers) is in charge. I bet 99% of these Hillary-bashing bloggers on the internet are men or women under the age of 22. Even MSNBC's men are losing their credibility because of their anti-woman status. This election did not start out as sexist or racist to me, but now it has. Obama is getting cocky and can only go to colleges to speak because they are the only voters who can look "up" to him. Do you see Obama speaking at any retirement organizations or military installations? They know better. I am sorry to say young people don't have a clue about what this decision holds at this time. Think about what you knew at age 25 and what you know now at 40 or 60? With age comes wisdom. Young people just want what's "popular" and easy. Just check out their cellphones or their clothes or their hairstyles. That is the crowd Obama is getting. Yea, that will help out a lot in the white house. C.W. - Indiana

Jacksmith is woefully uninformed. I have read firsthand accounts from literally hundreds of caucus-goers in all the states and I can assure you there is no vote fraud going on there. The only argument one could possibly have against using caucuses is that MAYBE it makes it harder for the elderly or working poor to have their voices heard.

There are many things that Obama and Clinton have in common, and a few where they differ (in my opinion, mostly in the categories of diplomacy, rhetorical skill, and personal appeal). However, if we must stretch so far for differences that we paint Senator Clinton as an emotional (read manipulative) campaigner, let's just have a look at her voting record and look at Senator Obama's as well:

"Senator Clinton, who has served only one full term (6yrs.), and another year campaigning, has managed to author and pass into law, (20) twenty pieces of legislation in her first six years.

These bills can be found on the website of the Library of Congress (www.thomas.loc.gov), but to save you trouble, I’ll post them here for you.

1. Establish the Kate Mullany National Historic Site.
2. Support the goals and ideals of Better Hearing and Speech Month.
3. Recognize the Ellis Island Medal of Hon
4. Name courthouse after Thurgood Marshall.
5. Name courthouse after James L. Watson.
6. Name post office after Jonn A. O’Shea.
7. Designate Aug. 7, 2003, as National Purple Heart Recognition Day.
8. Support the goals and ideals of National Purple Heart Recognition Day.
9. Honor the life and legacy of Alexander Hamilton on the bicentennial of his death.
10. Congratulate the Syracuse Univ. Orange Men’s Lacrosse Team on winning the championship.
11. Congratulate the Le Moyne College Dolphins Men’s Lacrosse Team on winning the championship.
12. Establish the 225th Anniversary of the American Revolution Commemorative Program.
13. Name post office after Sergeant Riayan A. Tejeda.
14. Honor Shirley Chisholm for her service to the nation and express condolences on her death.
15. Honor John J. Downing, Brian Fahey, and Harry Ford, firefighters who lost their lives on duty.
Only five of Clinton’s bills are more substantive:

16. Extend period of unemployment assistance to victims of 9/11.
17. Pay for city projects in response to 9/11
18. Assist landmine victims in other countries.
19. Assist family caregivers in accessing affordable respite care.
20. Designate part of the National Forest System in Puerto Rico as protected in the wilderness preservation system.

There you have it–the facts straight from the Senate Record.

Now, I would post those of Obama’s, but the list is too substantive, so I’ll mainly categorize.

During the first (8) eight years of his elected service he sponsored over 820 bills. He introduced:

233 regarding healthcare reform,
125 on poverty and public assistance,
112 crime fighting bills,
97 economic bills,
60 human rights and anti-discrimination bills,
21 ethics reform bills,
15 gun control,
6 veterans affairs and many others.

His first year in the U.S. Senate, he authored 152 bills and co-sponsored another 427. These inculded:

**the Coburn-Obama Government Transparency Act of 2006 (became law),
**The Lugar-Obama Nuclear Non-proliferation and Conventional Weapons Threat Reduction Act, (became law),
**The Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act, passed the Senate,
**The 2007 Government Ethics Bill, (became law),
**The Protection Against Excessive Executive Compensation Bill, (In committee), and many more."

THe GOP will parade out this Larry Sinclair come election time and Obama will be done. Its a taste of Obamas own medicine after what Axelrod did to Jack Ryan in order to get Obama elected to the Senate. Watch him on you tube and notice how no one in Obamas camp is responding except to admit taht they knew each other. Somehow the media is not picking up on htis because he is their chosen candidate. However just some former college classmate saying he did coke with Bush was enough for every major network to say that Bush was a cokehead. See what heppens when the media falls in love with a candidate and doesnt do their job of vetting the candidates. The GOP will use Sinclair and are already talking to people who attended Harvard around the same time as Barrack and frequented the party scene there. You will be sorry if you nominate Barrack i presume.

To Whom it May Concern,

One thing that grates me about Hillary is this sleazy trading that she engaged in some time ago

http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=9E01E2DB1F3DF93BA25750C0A962958260&sec=&spon=

This combined with the $8,000,000 book deal that she signed right *after* she was elected to the senate makes me wonder about her ethical standards.

Sincerely,

Lars Ewell

Jen, I think you're staying home in November. Obama? Unlikely. His popularity will soon fade. Clinton will clinch the Dem nomination.

Just admit it people, the voters are telling the democratic party that they believe Obama's ready to be president. And it doesn't matter if it's a caucus or primary - we've been picking presidential nominees this way for generations and it was never an issue before. What is different is the perceived similarity between Obama and JFK. No one knew Kennedy was a visionary at the time, but look at his statements, his passion, and MOST IMPORTANTLY what he did subsequently during his brief time in office, and you'll see a legacy that has only gotten better with time. One things for certain - the rhetoric falls flat if it's not followed up by action. Since Obama has invited the JFK comparisons, if he wins, he arguably has the hardest job of all...living up to the hype and expectations.

Next, when it comes to experience or Obama being "green" look at all the people who've fallen by the wayside thus far. Bill Richardson, Joe Biden or Chris Dodd could use the experience argument against both Hillary and Barack and win easily. In fact, for Hillary's 35 years of experience, only 6 of it was in an elected position before she declared her candidacy. Furthermore, someone please tell me what Hillary has done to make her ready to be president besides being married to Bill Clinton? If her last name was Boxer, Snowe or Feinstein, all of whom have been in the senate at least twice as long as her, would she stand a chance? Her biggest political moments have been failures - not getting healthcare passed as First Lady (when last I checked that's not an elected position), and voting for the Iraq fiasco (aka Bush's War). Then, if she would just admit that the vote was a mistake, that she got 'duped by a dope' as Mary Matlin put it on Meet the Press, she may have fended off the challenge from Obama.

To all of you who claim Obama has no substance, check out his website.

Plenty of detailed plans for the future but you guys would rather throw stones instead.

I haven't heard Hillary (or anyone for that matter) get overly specific in their stump speeches.

I cannot believe all you men talking about Hillary and how you would not vote for her because she is a woman. Don't you have a mother, daughter or sister.

I'm a 37 year old man, and I'm not voting for Hillary. Why? Because nothing she's said thus far has rang as honesty to me; just more campaign rhetoric. NEITHER of them has had experience running a country, and I know the popular belief is that she was "running it behind the scenes". Neither of them has been in the big chair. Yes, Obama is green, but does Hillary get the benifit of the doubt because she had an OFFICE in the white house? There is no practice at being a president, people. It's character (and good people behind you) that gets the job done. The democratic party is in trouble. People who voted for Obama won't vote for Clinton if she wins, and vice versa. They won't vote AT ALL more than likely, which gives the Republican party a clear run. This needs to be settled, and SOON!

1. The only reason Clinton is calling for debates is that she's losing and can't afford to buy t.v. ads like Obama can. Period.

2. The discounting of caucuses is ridiculous. Didn't Hillary Clinton complain about caucuses before she started losing them? No. Does she mention that Obama has won as many primary elections as Hillary. No either.

3. I was so busy defending Democrats in the 90's that i failed to notice something really important: Bill Clinton is a bald-faced liar, and Hillary spends a lot of time covering for him. Clinton not only lied to the entire country during prime time about Monica Lewinsky, he lied about his affair with Gennifer Flowers during the '92 primaries.

4. Hillary wants to take credit for all of the good things during the 90's, and accept no responsibility for the failures. Facts about the Clinton administration you won't hear Hillary mention: America lost millions of jobs thanks to NAFTA, 2.6 million people lost their health care coverage while the Clintons were in charge, and the number of adults who couldn't read grew by almost 8 million.

5. The Clinton cover-ups continue. The Clintons still refuse to release documents in the Presidential library that illustrate Hillary's role in the White House (see #4 above), and they still refuse to release tax returns explaining where they suddenly came up with $5 million to finance Hillary's campaign (Hint: Dubai),

wake up people! obama's reason for change is black and white

I still don't see why people argue saying that Obama is too "green". George Bush was only a govenor and had no senate, congress or any other DC experience, besides being a campainer for his father, yet he was elected, twice!

Barack Obama for President!

Personally, I would rather re-elect Dubya to a third term than see hillary in the White House again.

Obama all the way!

It's sad, but I think that its a 99% certainty that Obama is the next President of the United Statees. Makes me worry about the future of the War on Terror, among other things. But Obama has the nomination locked up and will be the next President.

I'm not an American, i'm Australian and from Australia. But i have been studying American foreign Policy and have been following the campaign of Hillary like theres no tomorrow. And yeah Obama might be wining this states at the moment, but at the end of the day if it comes to a broker convention, i think the Demo's will actually have a look at how many people had voted for Hillary & Obama, and at the end of the day, Hillary has got more votes then what Obama has received. When watching Obama give his speeches, do not get me wrong he is very inspirational but i really never hear him talk bout what he stands for, all i ever hear come out of his mouth is, WE NEED CHANGE....thats it....I think Hillary has the expereince has the knowledge to turn America around out of the ground and move it forward....I think it would be good experience for Obama maybe to go for VP then when Hillary's (second term if she makes it for a second term which she would) then maybe fun for the top job then....America and the World needs a woman touch.

Jacksmith makes some very strong points, which naturally are being pooh-poohed by Obama's lemmings.
Winning caucuses is equivalent to grabbing low-hanging fruit. But still it should be questioned why his margins in caucuses do no match his margins in primaries. Why no blow-outs in the primaries? Illinois and South Carolina are exceptions, but there are reasons for those exceptions.
Let's look at a couple of other primaries. Missouri, for example. That one actually should have been called a draw, not a win. He squeaked ahead by only 1.4 percent. The delegate allocation was an even split. Both got 36.
Now, consider Alabama. That was another Obama "win," but Hillary got one more delegate out of that because of the close margin and Congressional jurisdiction. Something is not kosher with the caucuses, which perhaps explains why the Obama foks were first to send lawyers to New Mexico to "oversee" a caucus he was not winning.

Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama tied in Gallup Poll

Thank you for your attention to my letter.

PLEASE, SEE: “ BILL A RI AND THERE WAS LIGHT !”
By Lucien Bonnet
in http://www.contact-canadahaiti.ca

IN THE DEPTH OF THE UNKNOWN, THERE ARE NECESSARY CONQUESTS

The well-known NASA scientist and author of popular scientific works, Professor Carl Sagan, together with his wife Linda, among other people, wrote the famous Space Message engraved on Pioneer 10 and meant for possible extraterrestrial civilizations which might be discovered — who knows? — somewhere in our Galaxy. Professor Sagan is a master of the art of using humor, and he is fond of allegories. That is why Lucien Bonnet wrote to him in the form of a parable on April 10, 1978.

Montreal, April 10, 1978

Dear Dr. Sagan:

It sometimes happens that a dreambecomes a reality. That’s the case today. Through Mr. Emil P. Ericksen, Economic Officer of the Consulate General of the United States of America in Montreal, I am in communication with the American scientist whose works and research I most admire.

I would like to address a simple message to Professor Carl Sagan and his wife, who feel, as the year 2000 approaches, that the time is ripe to make our presence known by sending signals to other possible intelligent beings in the Universe. The message, which is the result of my patient research, I formulate as follows:

On the cosmic scale, as on the terrestrial scale, blackness is an integral part of color and light processes.

My purpose is to inform you of this particular subject and the reasons that have led me to carry out my research, in the context of the problems of the very small country, whose history is as tortured as its geography, where I was born and grew up: Haiti, whose name means “land of mountains”. This country has been faced for years with the difficulties inherent to any collectivity confronted with a problem of identity. In Canada, where I live and to which I have become acclimatized, this subject still motivates my research, propels my efforts and explains the audacity of my words. In the particular context of a centuries-old conflict, where personal interest and racial origins confront each other, it is essential that we get to the bottom of things. At this point, it would be as well to point out that branch of energy physics, namely optics, where scientific taboos concerning color, darkness and light are furthered and maintained by trade secrets, patents and vested interests. A rational search for original, and even avant-garde, answers on a scientific and intellectual level would seem to be a necessary prerequisite to establishing a balanced situation.

Not being a “scientist”, (because sometimes, facts are so obvious that they “hit you in the eye but, like ostriches, people bury their heads in the sand) but rather, perhaps the most obscure of all obscure researchers of all obscure ages, I amasking a special favor from Professor Sagan. I would like him to agree to examine my modest results and the demonstration there of, backed up by photos and films. Needless to say, they may be freely used for any purposes deemed necessary to the success of my undertaking. On one film, I wanted to assemble in my own way the elements and conditions that I think are indispensable to the analysis and synthesis of colors. I amsubmitting four films called “color separations” and the color proofs to support this finding.

The sentences I quote below are yours. They are taken from an interview that you gave to a French magazine reporter:

“…after Apollo, scientists were discouraged. Do you know why they were disheartened? Because the sky above the Moon is black. That made them depressed. Do you think this is a joke? Not at all. Scientists are more fragile than they look. But the sky above Mars is rose-colored and that gave them hope.”4

4 Delaprée, Catherine “ L’homme clef de Viking: Et maintenant il faut tout revoir…”, (Le Point, August 16, 1976, pp. 48,49) [our translation]

I can see you and Mrs. Sagan smiling, seeming to say, “Roses live the life span of a rose, the space of one morning.”

The solution to the enigma of Space is not a “one-morning” task. Its darkness of an extraordinary depth, always so secretive and so intriguing, bordering on despair and insanity, fear and disgust, hatred and damnation, a consequence of ignorance or indifference, jealously hides incredible resources that would be of benefit to science, perceived only by such advanced, and wise, researchers as Professor Sagan.

With all due respect to the biblical Genesis, which from generation to generation teaches those who wish to hear it their way that “God divided the light from the darkness” (Gen. 1:4), and with all due respect to Sir Isaac Newton, who showed us all the colors of the rainbow with his prism, but who left us in the dark about the greatest unknown of all times, darkness itself, I insist that darkness — “the black rose of space”, arbitrarily denied as a positive value, always perceived negatively, discreet, hardly envious of the light which it absorbs, the better to conserve it — has passed for the absence of light, while in reality it is the extension of light.

Since the beginning of time, a harmonious and complementary state has existed between light and darkness, whose equivalent effects are carefully balanced at the cosmic level, making us think, as sages of all ages have suggested, like Lavoisier, that in this coherent universe, “nothing is created, nothing is lost, everything is transformed”.

The question we ask ourselves most often is this: “What would our lives be without light?” All things being equal, and according to the Law of Conservation of Matter and Energy, we might ask, “What would life be without darkness?” Whether we say “darkness is an absence of light” or “light is an absence of darkness”, is this not a simple question of semantics?

Reconciling light with darkness is a simple message that any future human or extraterrestrial space traveler should be able to grasp without too much difficulty. In the interests of any advanced civilization, obtaining a workable combination of visible and invisible forms of matter or energy is a chance to surpass ourselves by extending our own limits.

The so-called luminous part of the Universe, be it ever so brilliant, so forceful, that it seems to eclipse all the rest, while left in the shadow of its over whelming radiance, cannot by itself constitute a whole. The latter is left to the perception and investigation of scientists—but again, we must have the courage to get to the bottom of things.

The bottom of things is often veiled by mentalities. Mentalities depend on the human brain. It is interesting to note that the thing we are most proud of, this wonderful human brain — physically, without our realizing it — has always functioned in utter darkness. Man’s skull constitutes, without a doubt, the best model of a dark room which has ever been conceived. On the optical as well as the psychological plane, one can easily imagine what roadblocks are likely to be encountered. When we wish to refer to the superior abilities of man, weuse the term “gray matter”. Gray matter in a dark room, with or without a prism — what a delicate situation! Isn’t it where all the subtlety lies?

From the gray lunar soil of the Moon and in the concerted harmony of constructive forms, visible and invisible, of channeled light energy, the white rose and the black rose of the Cosmos and the possibility of roses in all color shades — enough to make the sky of Mars blush red — represent the true challenge of space and the spaceship in modern times. Inertia, spectral speed, speed equal to or higher than that of light, and the scientifically controlled reversibility of the phenomenon, what a new synthesis, but also what a liberation! To compare is not to prove, but the dark hidden side of the Moon, however mysterious it may be, is not a path of no return.

At the edge of light, there is darkness. At the edge of darkness, we can find light. Reconciling the “Children of Light” (I Thess. 5:5) — of the zenith, the rising sun and the setting sun — with the “Children of Darkness” (I Thess. 5:6) could perhaps one day become a question of scientific mentality.

“And there was evening and there was morning…” (Gen. 1:5).

Could this, Professor, be one of the most harmonious aspects of the vital cycle of space?

Thank you for your attention to my letter.

Yours very truly,

LETTER TO PRESIDENT CLINTON

Montreal, March 22, 1995

President William Jefferson Clinton
President of the United States of America
The White House
1600 Pennsylvania Avenue N.W.
Washington, DC 20500
U.S.A.

Mister President:

Please allow me to take the opportunity of your visit to Haiti, as President of the United States of America, on March 31, 1995, to pay due tribute in all sincerity to you and your distinguished wife, Mrs. Hillary Rodham Clinton.

You honor Haiti and the Haitian people with your presence and support.

Thanks to you and your allies in the United Nations and the Organization of American States, the return-to-democracy process has been successfully carried out. Now that the legitimate President, Jean Bertrand Aristide, has been reinstated in his official status, it is with legitimate pride, I am sure that he welcomes you to his country. For you, as well as for us, the “Uphold Democracy” operation is truly a beautiful historical moment.

Mr. President, I come from Haiti, that underdeveloped country.

With underdeveloped tools — a camera and a few films — I have tried, in order to serve my country’s cause, to demystify the word “light” and denounce Newton’s Theory of Colors.

With that same desire to serve constitutional legitimacy in my country, I have written the enclosed book entitled Haiti, Let There Be Light! I hope that you and Mrs. Clinton will accept this privately produced copy, especially intended for you, while you are getting ready for your trip to Haiti.

May I make a confession to you, Mr. President? I followed, closely and with intense interest, your electoral campaign, election, and swearing-in ceremony as 42nd President of the United States. What a great nation you represent! Please believe me: your courageous commitment to facilitate the restoration of democracy in my country has escaped no one. On the very day of your swearing-in ceremony, I wished to send you my book, Haïti, Que La Lumière Soit!, which questions Newton’s Theory of Colors. I did not do so, because I felt an English-language version would be more appropriate.

Since I could not send you a copy of the yet-to-be-published English version of my book, I contented myself with dreaming — dreaming that on one of your first evenings in the White House, you were seated in the Oval Room with Mrs. Clinton and your daughter Chelsea. You were reading Haïti, Que La Lumière Soit! I imagined you carefully examining certain passages of that work in its English version, which is now in preparation — typed by a sightless, multilingual Haitian. Those paragraphs deal with the so-called missing matter, darkness in space, “black holes” — in a word: the invisible mass of the Cosmos. You notice Dr. Carl Sagan’s research on Exobiology and the DNA found in the dark matter in the universe, and you suddenly remember a Time article from April 10, 1978 entitled “Black Holes and Martian Valleys”, which contained the following passage:

“A while later, astronomer Carl Sagan (The Dragons of Eden) found himself lugging his slide box into the Vice President’s big new house and, after coffee, taking the Mondale and Carter families on a journey through the heavens.

Jimmy Carter is the closest thing to a scientist we have had in the White House since Thomas Jefferson.

Nixon could not run a tape recorder.

Johnson could not fully figure out his alarm wrist watch.

Not Jimmy. He was fascinated by the discussion of “Black Holes” and the speculation that they might provide answers to what holds the Universe together.”

“Well,” you exclaimed, “O.K. for former President Carter. It is normal for the President of a star-spangled republic to choose between “Star Peace” and “Star War”. As to the former President’s inclination toward Einstein’s physics and/or Planck’s Quantum Theory, there is a great temptation to apply certain laws of the Cosmos to politics and diplomacy. Consider the “Tunnel Effect”, the way that energy escapes from black holes.

“Carter goes back to the sources and draws inspiration from them. That makes me think about Aristide — both of them are well at ease in both the Western world and the Black world: the visible and the invisible. However, there is one difference: the Haitians follow Aristide everywhere, like a comet’s tail. If Aristide is considered as a “Black Sun”, then the Haitians are “space refugees”.

“Yes, Haiti! We are pulled down to earth. Democracy… the exodus of the Boat People… with the Law of Probabilities, whether we think about Planck or Carter, it doesn’t seem that a solution will be found tomorrow…

“What business did the Haitians have in that “boat”?”

“Say, there above, the Black Twin! Is it still broad daylight in the shadow of the “Black Sun”?”

“Oh God,” you say aloud to Mrs. Clinton: “Eureka! I have found it! Fiat lux! Let there be light! Que la lumière soit! Black holes, black sun, tunnel effect, Aristide effect, boat people, space refugees, Carl Sagan, Jimmy Carter… six of one and half a dozen of the other.”

There is loud laughter in the Oval Room.

Bill a ri
Bill laughed

Hillary a ri
Hillary laughed

Chelsea a ri aussi
Chelsea laughed too

Humor is American, Mr. President, and so are dreams. Let my book Haïti, Que La Lumière Soit! be the “dark matter”, arguing in favor of the development of the Black world — visible and invisible!

In the area of science, high technology, creative innovation, and space exploration, I think there is nothing that America cannot deal with. That is why, in that spaceship of universal energy, I dare sail with a dream.

In my dream, it is your first trip inside your SPACE AIR FORCE ONE, propelled by the energy of invisible and concentrated dark matter, like black holes. A mini black hole of an avant-garde design whose motor sequence develops inertia, spectral speed, speed equal to or higher than that of light, and scientifically controlled reversibility of the phenomenon.

What a new synthesis, but also what a liberation!

Synthesis and analysis of two wings of the same bird — contracted and unfolded at the same time, following the heartbeat of the Universe tamed inside the infinitely small: “One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind!”

This would be the natural and constructive counterpart of Newton’s Theory of Light and Colors, which slows down that impulse. This is a necessary change in the name of development and progress humbly submitted on behalf of Haiti: a testimony of gratitude toward mankind. Let us go further, to the other side of the Universe, as suggested by an eyewitness: the Hubble telescope, with its camera.

“… Hubble focused on the centre of the galaxy [M87], an area 500 light-years across. The pictures revealed a spiral structure formed by fast-moving gas clouds being drawn toward the centre, rather like water going down a drain.”

Dr. Harms said the Hubble spectrographic camera was then focused on points 60 light-years across on opposite sides of the spinning disc. This camera breaks down light into its wavelength parts, rather like a prism separates colours in sunlight.” (The Globe and Mail, Thursday, May 26, 1994)

Let us in the long run, replace the camera by a motor run by the ENERGY OF THE YEAR 2000, transforming the DARK MATTER from the invisible to the visible and vice versa. We would there by take advantage of the sequence of colored and colorless light speeds, so as to better visit the Universe, where law and order are transcendent, just as in democracy.

I have decided to write this letter because your leadership, Mr. President, like an inevitable and immeasurable energy, has practically absorbed me, allowing me to express myself.

On October 4, 1994, in the General Assembly of the United Nations, a voice echoed the power of your leadership. In new words, on March 31, 1995, that same voice will repeat:

“Even now, with the peaceful launching of the operation “UPHOLD DEMOCRACY” on 19 September last year, a tropical smile has shed light upon the faces of those who espouse and love peace — Peacemakers, Peacekeepers, and Peacelovers. Together, President Clinton and we have managed to open up a “tunnel” of hope after so much suffering.”

That testimony by President Aristide at the U.N. emphasizes the magnitude of the efforts needed to bring about such a happy conclusion.

Your present trip to Haiti is the strongest confirmation of that sequence of events, and illustrates an unprecedented chapter in the annals of Haiti, as well as in the life of the Haitian people.

Thank you, Mr. President, for associating Haiti with your Strategic Development Initiative (S.D.I.) at the dawn of the “Star Peace”.

Dear AnaLU,

How dare you confuse the Clinton-lovers with cold hard facts!!! You are clearly trivializing women.

It is obvious that Ms. Clinton's 20 (average slightly more than 3 per year) Senate bills demonstrate her vast experience and her clear understanding of so many issues.

Please refrain from facts. Please generalize and concentrate upon her years and years of "experience."

And as for Barack Obama authoring more than 150 bills in his first year alone, well, um, this obviously must be a mistake on the part of the Library of Congress. He is far too green to have that strong a grasp on the legislative process. We can't accept that he could have figured out the system in the first year because Ms. Clinton says she will be ready on day one.

"I still don't see why people argue saying that Obama is too "green". George Bush was only a govenor and had no senate, congress or any other DC experience, besides being a campainer for his father, yet he was elected, twice!

Posted by: experience | February 11, 2008 6:27 PM "

And didn't he do a fine job as president?

I am totally disgusted by the vile and vulgar Hillary Clinton bashing. The cult following engendered by the Obama camp is more than a little frightening. Why can't voters look at both Clinton and Obama as candidates for the most powerful office in the world, not as an African American man or a white woman, and not look at their respective spouses or children. Barrack and Hillary should be viewed on their own merits, not who their married to, even if it's a former president. A Hillsry Clinton presidency will not necessarily yield the same results of a Bill Clinton presidency. What a silly comparison ("Billary" is offensive and juvenile). One could only hope for 8 years of relative peace in the world and record prosperity in the United States which is what we experienced while Bill was in office. I just don't understand democrats bashing the Clintons. Bill Clinton did more for minorities than most previous presidents. A racist he and Hillary are most certainly not! I guess success breeds contempt. Please keep the discourse civil and leave all of the personal attacks to the right wing regressive republican machine. If anyone is compelled to be critical of Clinton or Obama, keep it on the issues only.

To Jacksmith, havilland smith and anyone else who is trying to claim that Obama hasn't really done that well or that the only way he could've won is by somehow "stealing" the election.

Obama has won primaries in Washington state, Louisiana, Kansas, Minnesota and Nebraska (and others) so hows them apples?

If I wanted to follow the same tactics as you I would claim that the only way Clinton could win states is by stealing votes. Where's my proof? Hey, on your planet we don't need any, do we?

hey analu barack hussein obama has only been in office 2 years

Lucky77, you obviously haven't asked many people why they are on the Obama "bandwagon" because everyone I know who supports him has a very valid reason. He has an excellent plan for universal healthcare, he is planning on working to close the tax loopholes that are sending our IT jobs overseas and ruining our economy, he has no record of supporting this war, and the list goes on and on. As far as him being "green", a great leader is not defined by how long they have spent in Washington, but by how they are able to honestly communicate with the American people and inspire THEM to help make the changes that this country so desperately needs. I think his grassroots campaign alone has shown how effective he is at this!

Whats getting very tired and stale to hear on these "blogs" are two things:

Obama has no substance. That is a very lazy argument. Just because he's relatively new to you does not mean he has not done anything and does not have any plans. A little research on his website, wikipedia or reading a few chapters ih his book give you all that. Actually listening to his speeches works as well. Sadly if people say things like that enough times others just tend to believe it.

What's SADDER are some of the women in this country. Isn't voting for someone on the basis of gender putting us back? And don't try and tell me women are not doing that. Saying "You go girl" and "its time we had a woman president" does not make someone the better choice. I'm willing to bet there are millions of women out there that decided to vote for Hillary before even looking into the backgrounds of John Edwards and Barack Obama. Woman who base their vote on gender HAVE NO SUBSTANCE.

The NY Daily News reports: "Bill Clinton, touring black churches in Washington and Maryland, which hold primaries Tuesday, said he understands voters face a tough choice between his wife and Barack Obama." Don't churches risk losing their tax exempt status if they engage in political exercises?

Tell it to the Southern Baptist Churches, who give the names of their members over to the Repub Party every four years.

I'm moving to the McCain camp at least I know who and what he is about

qter writes "The dems are divided don't matter. Republicans will win. "

You are so right! With Ron Paul, Mitt and Rush all endorsing McCain, not to mention the very popular current President, the Dems do not have a chance....oh wait.

Re: David Martin - Way to Go!!! Love it!!

Re: Mark commenting on AnaLu

Obama was elected in the Illinois State legislature for years before his national elected service. That would make up his 8 years of elected service AnaLu was referring to. So he technically has more experience overall than Clinton.

You are wrong, Mark, 3 years. Barack was elected in 2004. But more importantly, AnaLu's email as a typo -- it was not during his first 8 years that Barack accomplished so much -- it was during his first 8 months!!

So much for a neophyte with little experience . . . huh?

To those of you who were upset about Hillary Clinton's successful venture into the Commodities market: it was done with her on money and she could have just as easily lost it as I did when I tried it. The record shows few other examples of Hillary investing in commodities and the reason is probably because she learned, as I did, that 19 out of 20 people LOSE money in the commodity market.

About Walter's post that Clinton research turned up a piece where someone who benefited from Bill Clinton's recommendation on a mining contract donated money to Clinton's CHARITABLE Foundation. Correct me if I'm wrong but the definition of a charitable foundation does not imply "for personal profit." And it does not sound like illegal activity of any kind, so what's the beef?

Everyone thinks that if Obama wins the women that support Hillary are such wimps they will just smile and follow Obama. Fat chance, I'll vote for John McCain. It is really a sexiest view that her voters will follow. I like McCain because he is a moderate and I don't like the way the media is treating Hillary and if Obama wins because of the Media Hillary bashing I'll show them by voting for McCain.

Female Voter:
That's showing them! Let the media decide for you. The media has nothing to lose by you voting for McCain, but the entire country does. As do thousands of families and troops in the middle east. But go ahead and make you point...make us women proud!

Your sounding like Ann Coulter.

DK Medlin,

I'm not upset that Hillary Clinton had success in the commodities market

I'm upset that she had the success, apparently trading on insider information, which you or I would not have access to.

This information became available to her when her husband was in a position to grant favors to the person she got the information from.

regards,

Lars Ewell

to D.K.Medlin:

Bill Clinton flew in a private jet with an individual who had set up a shell corporation to mine uranium. The company never existed before. Billy got the leaders of Kazikstan to give this guy all the uranium mining in the country. I'm sure the country's leaders got something in their pockets. And Billy's "charitable foundation" got $130,000,000 over the next few years from the guy. And Billy interfered in these foreign affairs as a "retired president". While it may all squeak past a legality check, it's certainly not ethical. And it's an example of how willing the Clintons are to sell and collect favors to get rich. Recieving $130 M to a charitable org. one controls is a huge "debt". I'm sure these favors will go back and forth several times.

The Clintons are very corrupt! History will prove it. Vote ABC (Anybody But Clinton[s])

I urge us to be intelligent and wise as we choose a candidate this year.

We can do a little work and look into what the candidates say about themselves on their websites and elsewhere. The best way for us to choose the best candidate is to gather some good information and make up our own minds.

Let's avoid sensational sources more interested in money than truth. Using heads and hearts in the pursuit of truth and beauty we can do better than in 2004 when more of us voted for an American Idol candidate than a presidential one.

“Obama's (economic) plan… is the most shameless piece of potential plagiarism that I have ever seen. He basically took Clinton's words and Clinton's policies and called them his own. If I were a professor I'd give him an F and try to get him kicked out of school,” said Kevin Hassett, Sen. John McCain’s economic advisor and the Director of Economic Policy Studies at the American Enterprise Institute.

Obama is toast if these allegations from this gay guy are true:
