by John McCormick

Using a day when the weather was too bad to fly north, Sen. Barack Obama snuck down to North Carolina to meet privately Sunday with his former Democratic presidential nomination rival.

"Senator Obama visited this morning with John and Elizabeth Edwards at their home in Chapel Hill to discuss the state of the campaign and the pressing issues facing American families," Obama's campaign said in a statement, providing no additional details.

The media typically travels wherever Obama goes these days, but he left the entourage behind in Chicago on a day when his campaign said all of his events had been canceled because of snow and ice in Wisconsin.

The two men had been set to meet a week ago, but the meeting was postponed because camera crews had started to stake out the Edwards home.

Sen. Hillary Clinton also snuck away from her traveling press corps to meet privately with Edwards at his home more than a week ago for a discussion of a possible endorsement.

Edwards, a former North Carolina senator and vice presidential candidate, dropped out of the nomination fight shortly before Super Tuesday. Ever since, Obama and Clinton have repeatedly mentioned and praised him in hopes of winning his endorsement.

Obama has also said he periodically talks to Edwards on the telephone.

I recently changed my support from Hillary to Obama; even though, I had been blogging for her for several months.

Me and my family used to be the biggest fans of Bill Clinton. Everyone in my community can't stand to see Bill on TV anymore. I’m not sure if its his older age or maybe the lack of sleep lately, but I truly believe his lost his mind. He makes no sense anymore, cares about nothing other than attempting to get his wife elected, plucks words right out of the air while stating nothing, and now even goes against the voices of mass voters...

Bill Clinton is really not he same person I USED to respect and admire!

This country needs straight shooters. Vote for anybody but the Clinton Fabricators....Obama first, if not, then McCain!

Hopefully Edwards will give his blessings to Obama.

If Senator Edwards is really "torn" about which of the two Democratic candidates he should endorse, I ask him to review the following stories which illustrate something key about the primary choices in this race:

In August of 2006, thousands of people gathered in the village of Kisumu in Western Kenya to welcome Senator Barack Obama and his wife Michelle Obama to the nation where Senator Obama's father was born and died and where his grandmother still lives.

In addition to visiting relatives and spreading goodwill, the Obamas had come to Africa with something in mind. They had a mobile HIV testing lab brought with them to Kisumu and, there, before the assembled thousands, Barack and Michelle were tested for HIV.

700 people die of AIDS-related illnesses in Kenya every day. 1.2 million of Kenya's 32 million people are infected with HIV. In Kisumu that ratio is one in five.

That is real.

And on that August day in 2006 Michelle and Barack decided to show those gathered in Kisumu that being tested is the right thing to do. As Senator Obama said that day:

"If you know your status, you can prevent illness," Obama, the only African-American in the Senate, told the crowd. "You can avoid passing it to your children and your wives."

Obama and his wife did not make public the results of their instant tests, but the senator said "we probably wouldn't be smiling" if the results were positive. Obama said the country's government has done a better job than many others in Africa of acknowledging the problem and discussing solutions. But people's reluctance to be tested has slowed progress.
That is leadership. That simple gesture will save lives.

That tells us something about what we can expect from Senator Barack Obama and his wife Michelle if we elect him President of the United States.

::

I want to tell you one more story.

On May 1st, 2006 millions of Latino immigrants and their allies marched all over this nation in support of comprehensive immigration reform. 400,000 marched in Chicago alone. Only two sitting United States Senators stood with them that day. One was Senator Ted Kennedy. The other was Senator Barack Obama. He said later that week in a statement:

I think we need to recognize that if we are going to uphold the traditions of this country as a nation of immigrants, than we are going to have to deal with this issue in a way that reflects common sense and compassion.

The House of Representatives passed a bill that was extraordinarily punitive. It talked about border security and it made any undocumented worker in this country a felon; it also made people who potentially helped undocumented workers, for example, providing housing assistance or providing a domestic violence shelter potentially subject to a felony conviction.

It's that draconian measure that passed in the House that prompted these marches, but what started as a march of fear on the part of many undocumented workers, I think, has become a march for hope. People are hoping that they have an opportunity to legalize themselves in some fashion.

In the United States Senate there has been a bipartisan group, including Ted Kennedy, John McCain, Chuck Hagel, Mel Martinez, Ken Salazar, Lindsey Graham and a number of others who've been trying to negotiate a comprehensive package that would include stronger border security, making sure that employers actually verify employment status through a tamper-proof employee-verification card, and creation of a pathway to citizenship - earned citizenship - for the 11 to 12 million people that are already here. The idea would be that those people, over the course of eleven years could earn their way to citizenship by paying a fine, paying their back taxes (if they owe any), staying out of trouble, learning English and so on.
Senator Barack Obama has pledged to take up this reform in his first year as President. Senator Clinton has not. In fact, Senator Clinton, representing New York, did not participate in the events of May 1st, 2006.

::

I've tried to stay positive in the most egregious battles of the candidate wars because I have known that the more people learn about Barack Obama, as a man and a politician, about his policies, the more they respect his integrity (even where they disagree with him). And the more people know about Barack Obama the more they are willing not simply to vote for him, but, as I saw once again today, the more they are willing to go out and convince their neighbors to vote for him.

That is a powerful argument for Barack Obama in and of itself.

Today I met two couples with families (among dozens at an event) out canvassing their neighborhood with their children for Barack. (One of them is a kossack, copithorne, who wrote a diary about canvassing today.) Couples with children are busy people. Pushing strollers and leading four year olds is not the easiest thing to do when trying to Get Out the Vote.

But, given that, a couple with children knocking on your door to convince you to vote for Barack Obama is very persuasive.

Barack and Michelle Obama have a young family, too. Michelle and Barack speak eloquently about that. In fact, if we Democrats had won a small percentage more of the votes of families with children in 2004, John Kerry would be President today.

What I'd like to convey to you today is a very simple message.

Don't knock hope.

It's powerful. It's persuasive. It's pragmatic. It moves people to take action.

::

To be frank, I have been shocked by the deep cynicism of the campaign run by Senator Clinton. I don't want to belabor this point, but let me say this, I'm a student of political rhetoric. I am deeply invested in how we persuade people to take action...how we change hearts and minds.

I recognize in the rhetoric of Senator Clinton a skill, a succinct incisiveness that reflects a brilliant mind and years serving as a corporate lawyer reading and preparing briefs.

However, let me offer an example of what I consider to be cynicism on Senator Clinton's part. At the last debate a 38-year old online questioner submitted a question to Senator Clinton noting that for her entire voting life there had always been either a Clinton or a Bush on her Presidential ballot and serving in the White House.

That's true for me, too. I'm 39.

In 1988 we elected George H.W. Bush.
In 1992 we elected Bill Clinton
In 1996 we elected Bill Clinton
In 2000 we elected George W. Bush
In 2004 we elected George W. Bush
How is it a good thing for our nation that the same two immediate families should hold sway over our political lives and the office of the president for so many years? How does Senator Clinton answer that question in the minds of voters?

Clinton's answer was brilliant, pithy and the "take away line" of the debate:

Clinton absolutely nailed it with her quip that "it took a Clinton to clean up after the first Bush, and it may take a Clinton to clean up after the second Bush." -Chicago Sun Times

The only problem with that answer is that, like so many Clinton answers including those on the war in Iraq it's not really an answer at all. In fact, it exudes a cynicism that has emanated from the Clinton campaign from day one. It's a messy world, lower your expectations, don't expect your questions to get answered, don't look behind the curtain, don't buy anything from a guy 'selling hope', leave politics to the monied professionals, we know what we are doing.

If that's the rationale for your candidacy, if you think that's a sufficient answer to the complexities of the reservations we voters have about sending Bill and Hillary Clinton back to the White House, and what that would mean for those of us who want a fundamental change in our nation then you are not simply deeply cynical about the expectations Americans have of our leaders and our government but also unaware of the depths of our aspirations for a new day.

::

Listen to what Michelle Obama said last week on Larry King Live. She talked about hope, yes, but she also talked about how we citizens must ourselves come together and do the hard work that comes with hope, work on policy and persuasion, work in our communities. She talked about how we choose to come together not because of some rhetorical trick but because Barack Obama is willing to take a stand that makes him worth standing up for.

Now, that stand could be a simple gesture like getting an HIV test in a nation riven with AIDS.

Or that stand could involve the political courage to stand with immigrants calling out for justice and forge a complex legislative solution across the aisle...and to pledge to do so sooner rather than later.

On these, and so many other issues that confront us as a nation and a world, Barack Obama invites us to stand for change.

It's about time.

"WE are the ones we've been waiting for." BO, 2.5.08

Bill Clinton is definately acting deranged. It would be very scary for him to be anywhere near a person with presidential power and influencing them. It's gotta be Ahlzeimers or syphlis that has rotted his brain.

Voting for Hillary is a vote for socialized everything she is left of Lenin and Obama is left of her. If you want the government to control every aspect of your life then vote Democratic. Democrats want to give you fish, republicans want to teach you to fish. Stand up for your rights and vote republican before you have no say in anything you do. Remember deficit spending is created by congress they control the finances of our country so quit blaming Bush and put the blame on the Elected officials that are feeding us bull and blaming others. Bush isnt running, vote republican and keep Communist democrats out.

While so many Floridians who are democrats stayed home and not cast a vote for Senator Obama. I would like to know how we can go back and make sure every vote get counted.
"Another Floria Drama"

I have been an enthusiastic supporter of John Edwards for the past 2 elections and was disappointed when he ended his campaign. At this point, I am an *undecided* voter, as neither Hillary or Obama have made a convincing argument for my vote. Should Edwards endorse Obama, I will remain undecided. And please, fellow Democrats, remember that it is a long road to the White House. Anything can happen over the next 8 months.

Political reporter Mark Halperin says Edwards considers Obama to be "somewhat of a [vulgar term for a part of the female anatomy]."

I'll bet he goes for Hillary. This sounds like a last ditch attempt on Obama's part to sway him.

"Hope is like peace. It is not a gift from God. It is a gift only we can give each other."

-Elie Wiesel

The Clinton's promoted and passed NAFTA. Should Edwards throw his support to HRC he would damage his own reputation and the $400 hair cuts would become mockery all over again. OBAMA '08

How can he be torn!!1 Didn't he say that The Clinton's were of the old with no change in government? Wasn't he beating up on Hillary teaming with Barack time after time. I'm sorry if he doesn't go with Barack then, all I can say is that he's a 2 faced liar. if not Barack then sit still Edwards. Don't fall into the old boy camp with the Clintons

a possible obama-edwards ticket in the works

is this united kingdom of america.
king bus
king clinton
queen clinton
bs, is this kingdom?

CHANGE - The current buzzword.

To what? Can we have something CONCRETE?

Let's not forget the simple fact that Barack Obama has been endorsed by Moveon.org, the same organization that called General David Petraeus a traitor in the New York Times in September. let's not forget that Barack Obama, with no military experience and less than 2 years experience at the national level wants to be president - in this context he wants to be the commander of a man whom an organizaqtion supporting him and whose support he has eagerly accepted has called a traitor.

Let's not forget that.

Why is Hillary in full retreat?

Too many questions about why she won't release her tax returns until after she becomes the Democratic nominee--if that happens.

(Doesn't Hillary trust Democratic voters to make informed decisions?)

A lot of anxiety out there, too, about her plan to garnish workers' wages as part of her mandatory medical insurance plan.

Parents in particular would probably like to know what Bill and Hillary have to offer young people in terms of the importance of honesty and integrity--given all the scandals surrounding the former First Family.

And of course there is still a lot of anger out there how the Clintons engaged in racial coding on the eve of the celebration of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.

Then there is the question--"Where's William?"

Bill Clinton oscillates between being underwraps and carefully tethered, lest he alienate even more Democratic voters.

But what would happen if Hillary is actually elected?

How long before the United States, in debt and at war, would have to face another "bimbo eruption" (their words); financial scandal, or embarrassing liaison with the world's corrupt and those who violate human rights?

Not many people seem to be buying the "New Hillary."

Those with long memories will likely think that her inauthenitc pose calls to mind the "New Nixon" of 1968--one of the last of a series of image remakes for the eventually disgraced president whose legacy includes a word common to that of Bill Clinton: "impeachment."

Authenicity, transparency and honesty count.

Let's not take a bridge back to the 20th century.

Robert F. Kennedy called politics "an honorable adventure."

It was once, and can be again, with Barack Obama leading the Democratic Party.

Right on BrwnSknGurl. I'm an American abroad who made very sure I got a chance to vote in the primaries. If Obama hadn't been in the race, I can't say that I would have bothered. It saddens me that so many Americans, some of my family included, have such a negative view on Obama, and simply point to a standard excuse that he does not have the experience. Such a lack of hope prevading our country says so much right now..especially about why we need someone like Obama.

It is so refreshing to hear what Obama have to say about all of us working together to better America. He is awesome...OBAMA FOR PRESIDENT!

I think John Edwards would make a great addition to the ticket with Obama. He truly cares about the average person and he would work for Universal one payer Heath care for our nation. I only wish the Media had given him an equal chance. We people of IOWA spent many months looking at all the candidates and didn't make our choice based on an ad, or one 20 second sound bite. Thats why Obama and Edwards came in first and second.

BrwnSknGurl, excellent post, thanks for sharing that information. Information like this need to get out there, let the people know that Hillary is not the judge of another person, the individuals own actions are.

I don't even understand why women like her, she is the biggest set back to feminism we've ever had.

1. crys to win votes.
2. uses her husband career to claim experience.
3. allows her husband to cheat repeatedly.
4. she has won nothing on her own merits (if not for the Clinton name she wouldn't have been in the senate).
5. uses her husbands friends to get ahead.
6. Has her husband defend her instead of standing up for herself.

Her attitudes don't make her a feminist, they just make her power hungry and egotistical.
The Clinton/Bush dynasty must stop. Any body beside Bush and Clinton.

vote for obama now

and than for mccain in november

republicans some democrates and independents for the lion mccain

to brwn skn gurl,

What an excellent and persuasive rationale!

Whether one agrees with you or not I truly appreciate your listing of the actions of each candidate as opposed to the take we get from the media today.

Thank you and good luck to your candidate!

@BrwnSknGurl: That was the best testimony for Obama I think I've ever read; I sent it to dozens of people as soon as I read it. Thank you for articulating just why he will make a passionate, engaged leader for our country.

All I hear is how great Barack Obama is, and how he is the candidate of change. But the simple truth of the matter is, if they wouldn't have found out the dirty laundry from Jack Ryan's divorce we would have never seen him win the Senate. You all say he is the candidate of change, but he has been the senate of this state and he hasn't been taking a stand in the Senate with his "present" votes. Like HIllary Clinton said, "talk is cheap". And that is all Barack Obama does.

Like HIllary Clinton said, "talk is cheap". And that is all Barack Obama does.

Posted by: Alexandra | February 17, 2008 10:03 PM

Alexandra, that arguement is getting very old. People can see how much potential Obama has. It gives them hope and I have no doubt it will be realized WHEN he is elected. I gave money to Hillary's campaign early on, but I have come to find allot of admirable qualities in Barack. Try to open your mind a little.

What does any of this crap you Hillary lovers got to do with Edwards meeting with Barack? Go back into your holes please this begging and crying has to stop. Vote Obama...

As far as Obama voting 'present", HE HAS ALREADY EXPLAINED THAT THAT IS A COMMON PRACTICE AND IS DONE FREQUENTLY TO PROTEST, NOT ONLY BY HIM, BUT OTHERS AS WELL. HE'S NOT DUMB; HE HAS A REASON FOR HIS VOTE AND A STRATEGY, I'M SURE, BEHIND IT. LOOK UP HIS RECORD, OR IF YOU DON'T WANT TO TAKE THE TIME TO DO THAT, READ BrwnSknGurl's post!!! Educate yourself!!!

Marty,

I don't see you or any of your Republican pals complaining about our socialized police force or socialized fire departments protecting your mansions? How about those socialized roads that you drive on everyday. So you think it should be every man, woman, and child for themselves. You believe in greed and think the "me" generation is the greatest thing sinced sliced bread.

And speaking of shredding the constitution, look at what Bush and the Republican party has done to our rights in the past 8 years? We are now wiretapped against our will. We are searched and frisked everytime we travel. We can't take liquids on a plane. We soon won't be able to leave the country without special papers and we can't even vote on voting machines that actually can be audited and have some semblence of a paper trail. 10 billion dollars of our taxes are going into Iraq and into the pockets of all of Bush's cronies and Dick Cheney's companies every week. Out of every 1.00 of taxes that I pay 0.57 cents goes to the military and defense contractors. And all of the experts and recent reports now say that we are LESS safe than we were 8 years ago. You call that progess?

Really you honestly want us to believe that the Democrats have created these messes and are taking away our rights?? Please name one right that the Democrats have taken away?

If you think John Edwards loves Obama and what he stands for read what he said about him during his campaigning.

http://thehill.com/leading-the-news/edwards-says-obama-using-stolen-ideas-2007-10-03.html

Well, at least we know how sneaky he can be. And I'd be willing to bet that he "snuck" down there to discuss bargaining for Edwards' endorsement in exchange for his appearing on the Democratic ticket as vice-president. If so, look at all of the $$$ Edwards didn't have to spend on campaigning.

Change -- right. This would be the same political garbage that he claims he will "change."

Time will tell.

Alexandra, don't forget the dirty laundry from Blair Hull's divorce that gave him the primary win. Hull was up double digits over Obama before that.

He's also added plagiarism to his list of hits. Change. Right. This link shows how he stole Deval Patrick's speech.

http://bigheaddc.com/2008/02/17/obama-caught-plagiarizing-2006-deval-patrick-speech/

John Edwards is waiting to see who will win the nomination before he endorses them. He actually thinks his endorsement is worth a vice presidential spot. A fool and his endorsement is soon parted.

BrwnSknGurl's post is one of the most tempered and intelligent analysis of the race I've read. Thank you.

The race and gender splits that now sound in the Democratic party discussions have everything to do with the Clintons' not-so-subtle gaming of those divisions, from Bill's attack in NH on Obama's candidacy as a "fairy tale" (note that condescending note--even worse than calling Senator Obama "boy") to his telling the women voters that he cannot make Hillary taller and younger, thus getting all senior age white women to sympathize with her. This repeated call on mainstream media together with the endless loops of Hillary crying gained her those women voters who had meant to vote for Obama and stole the NH primary for the Clinton-Grinch dynasty. And they have continued to play those divisions in S. Carolina, etc. Will they win? This will decide the nation the younger generation will inherit.

At the last Democratic debate that featured Edwards, he took a sharper tone with Obama, joining Clinton in questioning why Obama voted "present" on a series of controversial measures in the Illinois state senate.Edwards said "What I didn't hear was an explanation for why over 100 times you voted 'present' instead of yes or no when you had a choice to vote up or down," .He would endorse Hillary and not just be "present".

"Democrats want to give you fish, republicans want to teach you to fish"?

You're kidding, right?Republicans want to cut the budget for fishing lessons, outsource the fishing jobs to China, and deregulate the fish marketplace so that it isn't hampered by all those pesky regulations about hazardous chemicals like mercury, lead, PCBs, and pesticides.

Finally, BrwnSknGurl, someone with inteligence, you should fwd this to CNN.
For all you Obama Haters, its not about EXPERIENCE, its about the same old RACISM, A black man who is smart enough to lead this country, I am so sick and tired of having my intelegence insulted..People WAKE-UP. I don't support Obama becuase I'm spellbound from his speeches, I'm spellbound by want he believes and what I believe HOPE!!!!#1 Hillary hasn't had an original idea yet..#2 she only wants to be the First Woman Pres...3#Her Experience=1full term senator..WOW!35 yrs fighting for childrens rights, healthcare, middle class, obviously nothing accomplished or we wouldn't be having this blog..#4 what middle class person you know can loan him/her self $5.mil. I don't want a president who plays the victim, I don't want a president who thinks we can "win" in Iraq and bringing our troops home would be defeat and surrender. I want a president who has "EXPERIENCE" in common sence, one who has the ability to build a cabinet, and advisors who are competent, a president, who is ready 'on day one' to make to RIGHT decision On Day One. The choice is clear ...real clear you can take the promises of HOPE or you can take SOLUTIONS that are promises. You, see in the end Hillary really hasn't done anything but made a speech, and she said "words are cheap"

BrwnSknGurl, I too found your post to be insightful and powerful. I passed it along to others as well, and I would encourage all Obama supporters to do the same.

Senator Barrak obama is the change we need for Washinton D.C.!!
Senator Barrak Obama has a better organized campaign and is still able to keep his original "Campaign Camp" unlike Senator hillary Clinton's past "Campaign Advisors"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm an orphaned Edwards supporter. I've already made up my mind. I will back Obama from here on in.

Clinton still needs to own up and admit that her vote in 2002 to authorize Bush to wage war on Iraq was a blunder. We will all pay for that blunder for many years to come. Edwards was man enough to admit he was wrong in that vote, and I admired him for his courage and honesty. Clinton has displayed neither.

Obama-Edwards would be a wonderful ticket for a better world.

its sooo funny how america viewed the clintons as the 1st blacks in office up until obama came alone now all of a sudden yall bashin there names and talkin much shit obama movement let him move yo ass in the poor house cuz half u dumb ass porch monkeys wouldnt have a house if it wasnt 4 the clintons america is soo two faced i wouldnt run 4 nothing here u worse than illegal people

Heads up on Senator Obama's MoveOn.org endorsement! HOWEVER... as a concerned voter who gets emails from MoveOn, I voted for Obama when I received their ballot, not as a show of support for MoveOn but as a show of support for Obama. As for a concrete explanation of change? Well, anything that is an aberration from what has been going on for the past 7 years is change enough for me! I volunteered for Bobby Kennedy in '68 and this is the first time since then that I have been inspired enough to volunteer for any candidate. Thank you, Senator Obama, for giving me the hope and inspiration of my early years when I actually believed I could make a difference!

With the help of the media, Obama is being lifted to Kennedy-esque levels (Bobby and Jack) and really hasn't done much more than give inspirational speeches. If it were really all about speeches, then we might as well have Tony Robbins run for president

When it came down to it, I found that Edwards' position on various issues was much more desirable than either Obama or Clinton's.

Unfortunately for me, he dropped out of the race. While I agree that Obama or Clinton are great candidates, change for the sake of change is rarely a good thing, and strategically irrational for Democrats. If you pick one, and they don't make a dent, they'll probably be a one-term president.

When you're making your mind, really take into account all of the issues. Look at how they stand on the war, on Social Security, on education, on energy, on Homeland Security, on healthcare, on women's rights, on nuclear proliferation.

Don't pick one candidate just because you like them. Remember, this isn't a popularity contest. Pick someone who has the pull and connections to be a great bipartisan president.

cedric,

You can't spell.

You can't capitalize.

You can't punctuate.

You can't convey your ideas, whatever they might be, without using profanity.

And we're supposed to pay attention to what you say?

"Democrats want to give you fish, republicans want to teach you to fish"?

However, republican policies have in fact killed most of those fish and made the remaining fish unfit for human consumption. Gee thanks W(orst President Ever).

"republicans want to teach you to fish"

No, they want a perpetual war where you borrow from the Chinese, you buy everything from the Chinese, and future generations are beholden to the Chinese.

The Republican controled congress had the chance to be fiscal conservatives, they blew that in their boot licking to Bush.

If you're going to spend Trillions like the Bush Admin. at least spend it on Americans instead of ungrateful Iraqis and Africans

Cedric, I had to read your post a few times to make sense of it, but if you're a Clinton supporter - keep posting!
Explain how the Clintons gave us free houses...is that what you're saying?

Let's hope that Edwards lends his support to Obama.

Like Edwards, Obama wants to fight for the many, rather than for the few. Like Edwards, Obama has powerful transformative effects--these can lead a generation to true political change.

This is a new political moment. Edwards can rise to this occasion and make a powerful and lasting contribution to the nation, rallying the nation behind this cause.

If you haven't been to a rally, or have, and want to take it with you, you can get the entire Obama rally setlist--all
the way from U2's "City of Blinding Lights", to which Obama takes the stage, to the Obama victory anthem "Signed,
Sealed, Delivered" at ITunes, here:

We're seeing first hand how people can be deluded en masse by a powerful speaker.

And his name is Barack Obama.

This guy would make a snake oil salesman proud. I mean, just read the garbage he spits out, that the masses soak up..

"We are the ones we've been waiting for."

Dude, er, ok, whatever.

I can't believe how many people have been brainwashed by this kind of garbage. "We are the ones we've been waiting for". LOLOLOL

Daniel, your statement holds more truth than you may think, and I think it’s more of an endorsement for Obama than Clinton and I tell you why.
First, if you vote for Clinton, though I think she has the intelligence, and ability to become a great leader, she will inspire more political partisan fighting by a unified republic party against her.
Second, she’ll be the same politics as usual candidate that this country needs to get away from.

For all those that think that Obama is just great speeches, remember that without those words of hope being expressed nothing will change. There were other words of hope that changed our country and at the time I’m sure there were the political pundits that dismissed them as rhetoric, for just a few: “I have a dream”, “All we have to fear is fear itself”, “Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country” The point is without those speeches, would the country have changed? Without those words, those ideas being expressed would we stand up to make the changes that this country needs?

Wow, almost verbatim. Unfortunately, the obamanauts will defend it.

Edwards knows these two candidates well enough to know whom he might want to endorse. My statement to him is as follows: If you don't sh*t or get off the pot soon, you will be irrelevant.

Thank you, BrwnSknGurl, for those two stories. I feel as you do that Senator Obama's actions and deeds show him to be a person of significant integrity.

John Quincy Adams siid that;

"A democracy without morality does not work".

Simple casual inspection of what is going on today bears this out. Capitalism today has its foundation in greed. Look at the special interest groups, look at the Auto/Oil cartel, look where lobbying is sending our country.

Barack Obama is just what the doctor ordered. I believe he is basicly a moral person. That is why I will be voting for him.

GO OBAMA IN 08!!!!!!!!!!!

Senator Barrack Obama should not even seek the support of John Edwards who is a "closet southern racist," and adultor, whose current blonde girlfriend is 8 months pregnant, while his wife is dying from breast cancer. this is why this white pimp dropped out of the race before the Super Tuesday contest. On the other side, The Republican party's candidate showed real class, by Milt Romney giving all of his 300 deligates to Senator John McClain. The Democrat 2008 candidates have shown nothing but a racist and selfish attidude which says we will not nominate a Black President in 2008!

Food for thought:

There is a recently hired manager, 2 yrs on the job at a very large international corporation doing $billions of business world wide, of the 2 yrs, the manager works part time 1 yr b/c of other commitments, and now that the position of "Chairman of the Board" opens up -- he wants that job!!!! What is everyone thinking???? No real job experience and he wants to run the "Corporation" -- let's hire someone who knows the "in's and out's" of business and can get to work on Day one and not expect "on the job" training.
HILLARY FOR PRESIDENT!!!!!

Obama or Hillary would have to be on crack to choose Edwards as a runing mate. We're talking about a guy who could not carry either his home state (SC) or his Senate state (NC) when he ran with Kerry, and he has zero foreign policy experience. His endorsement is his last bastion of political relevancy, and he is going to drag it out as long as he can.

What if he's smarter? Plus let's face it, neither has been the president or I mean "Chairman of the Board." Maria find a better way of telling the same tired story. Not working for Clinton, and not working for you.

I, too, am an Edwards orphan. I have been reading and watching everything possible to gauge both Clinton's and Obama's worthiness. Unfortunately, I find both lacking in integrity, steadfastness and honorability. I was devasted when Edwards dropped out of the race, as I truly believed him to be the BEST candidate by far. Now I'm faced with having to settle for the lesser candidate. Edward's endorsement of either candidate would definitely carry some weight in my decision but it would not be the only influence. I had high hopes for Obama but I desperately need convincing and as far as Clinton goes, I just don't know that she is ready for this position. I hope that the right person ends up in the oval office.

We, as Americans, need to get out there and make our voices heard. The apathy of the past few decades has brought our once great country to the precipice of ruin. If we hope to renew our vigor we must VOTE! We must be INFORMED! As we must vote our CONSCIENCE irregardless of partisan politics. Be not Democrat nor Republican, be AMERICAN. Vote for the betterment of our HOME.

I hope John Edwards endorses Hillary. I don't want a relative of Dick Cheney's in the White House. Obama and Cheney are distant cousins.

WHO IS LARRY SINCLAIR AND WHY IS CNN AND MSNBC NOT REPORTING ON THIS? IS OBAMA GOING TO GET A PASS ON THIS ALSO?

I still would like to make Edwards a write-in name on my ballot.

The Rs are not addressing health care--and the Ds? Hillary wants to FORCE everyone to buy their own health care under penalty of law--whether or not they can afford it, and Obama wants everyone who can, to buy it, then be given a very small rebate for it. These plans are both non-plans. There will still be people walking into ER rooms with no insurance. The Brits were given universal health care for enduring so well during WWII. We need to see that American citizens get health care for, among other things, enduring 8 years of BushCo. Why don't any candidates want to look at universal health care as France or the U.K. does it? Also, health care is finite. The southern border needs to be secured as well as the northern border currently is. Lets make sure that the goose that lays the golden eggs is healthy first, then she will have enough eggs to distribute around the world later.
