Revised and updated at 11:40 am with official Clinton campaign total

by Frank James

Sen. Barack Obama keeps getting more of that mother's milk of American politics, campaign cash.

His campaign is reporting today on its website that since Super Tuesday evening, it has raked in more than $7.5 million though it says it won't keep the tote board up for long, not wanting reveal all its secrets.

At the current torrid pace, he could surpass $30 million in February, according to the campaign. Obama raised $32 million in January, an amount that wowed many people.

We don't have an official number from Sen. Hillary Clinton's campaign for what her campaign raised since Tuesday though the campaign pointed reporters to a blog posting that reported that her campaign had raised $3 million since Tuesday.

(Update: Since the above paragraph was written, we have received an official number from the Clinton campaign. The campaign says it raised "more than $4 million online in a single day since the polls closed on Super Tuesday.")

Clinton, of course, disclosed to reporters yesterday that she loaned her campaign $5 million of her money in January. We also know that campaign staffers are going without their salaries to conserve cash.

Could we have more of the fiction that none of that is from lobbyists, please? ComEd and the pharmaceutical companies love it when they have that kind of plausible deniability.

Was the ommission of "mill." after Hillary's $4 intentional?

"WE are the ones we have been waiting for." -- Barack Obama 2.5.08

Obama for President!!! Make it happen folks!

Jeff:

So how much did McCain and Huckabee raise, and how much more did Mitt give himself??

The future is the Democratic Party - the GOP has been telling people that want to run for office that they have to provide their own funds in to run - they don't have any money to give them.

This means that Obama gets more money from his "bundlers". To anyone with a brain a bundler is a lobbysist. Com Ed alone is one of Obamas biggest money supplies.

Obama has shown beyond reasonable doubt that, he's the right candidate for the democrat and the president for the United States after the election.

Vinny: Obama gets many small contributions, from ordinary people like me. The average contributor to Mrs. Clinton makes a much larger contribution, so the rich support her. Who do you think she will owe when she becomes president? With Obama he will owe ordinary folks, and that is why we are rooting for him and we will reclaim our government, which is currently in the hands of the rich. Mrs. Clinton and her husband have a net worth of $50 million. Mrs. Clinton was born to privelage and drove around Chicago in her father's Cadillac, and she used to be a Republican, a Goldwater girl. Obama worked on the streets of the same town organizng the poor, he was raised by a single mother who sometimes needed food stamps to help feed herself and her two children. Obama was paying back his student loans until a couple of years ago. His family shops at Target. Mrs. Clinton lives in Chappaqua, one of the most expensive areas N of NY City. I know Obama understands the pain felt by ordinary Americans. For those of us who have expereinced the ugly face of discrimination first hand (I am not black), we know that Obama understands how we feel. I doubt if Mrs. Clinton, sheltered in wealth all her life, has ever experienced the pain of gender discrimination as it is experienced everyday by ordinary American women. A woman in the White House, I welcome with open arms. This woman! No.

Yesterday, Barack Hussein Obama arrogantly stated "I have no doubt that I can get the people who vote for Senator Clinton. ... It's not clear that Senator Clinton can get all the people I'm getting," This is the most racist and sexist remark thus far in this campaign. In other words, if Clinton loses, the majority of her women supporters will vote for me but If I lose, my supporters black people and men will not vote for her. This is such a telling comment from the great "uniter." Obama is the most divisive candidate yet the media doesn't recognize it. They would rather focus on a woman crying when Hillary has a tear.

As far as donations are concerned Obama's supporters make 150,000 a year compared to Hillary supporters who make less than 45,000. Hillary did not ask the media for debates, the various network channels courted her and Obama.

Hillary for president in 08

Yes, Clinton may have the less fortunates with less money. But there are a lot more of them then the rich! The common people will come to Hillary's aid!

We know from the Clinton's record that she is for ordinary Americans! It's not show me the money that will win this election. It's show me your resume. . .because the average American is finally getting smarter and learning that voting does make a difference!

"I'm sure I can get all of Clinton's voters. I'm not sure she can get all of mine"

What a blazingly TRUE statement.
If you look at the states Clinton has won so far, it's all the states where Ronald McDonald would get 70% as the democratic nominee.
Obama has been winning RED states, and in the red states, he's bringing out more people to vote for him than the Republican candidate.
The people of Massachusetts aren't going to go red in this election.
But the people of Colorado are going blue for Obama.
The people of a plethora of other previously "red" states will do the same.

Hillary can't bring that kind of diversity to her demographic electorate.

Hillary is writing her own campaign checks, while Obama is setting fundraising records.

People are turning out in record numbers to vote for Obama, and he's ahead in the total popular vote.

Plus, Hillary has deep roots in the corrupt machine that is our government. Since Obama's donations come from working class people like me (I've donated six times to his campaign now) he is beholden to ordinary people and not OIL companies.

OBAMA '08! Represent!

Clinton, of course, disclosed to reporters yesterday that she loaned her campaign $5 million of her money in January. We also know that campaign staffers are going without their salaries to conserve cash.

This is exactly why I will not and can not trust another Clinton. Why not donate the 5 million to YOUR CAMPAIGN or to paying your staff what they deserve. I do not, can not and will not trust another Clinton. I fully expect to hear her say if elected, " I didn't have..."
