William Haynes IV, who as general counsel to the Pentagon for the past seven years has been a member of the tight-knit group of policymakers responsible for the administration's anti-terrorism policies, is departing for the private sector.
In his role, Haynes has been in part responsible for the some of the government's most aggressive -- and controversial -- policies, including the establishment of military commissions to try terror suspects, extreme interrogation techniques such as waterboarding, the treatment of prisoners in Guantanamo, Iraq, and Afghanistan. Specifically, it was his role in approving the administration's early detention policies, designating prisoners as "enemy combatants" and not prisoners of wars under the Geneva Conventions, that cost him a federal judgeship on the U.S. Court of Appeals in Richmond, Va. when the Senate failed to act on his nomination.
Haynes, 49, is expected to take a job in the private sector.

One by one, the Republican criminals slink off into the night. It will be good to see the rest of them get flushed out, and even better when they get rounded up and sent to trials of their own.
Hopefully the perpetrators of all this shame and corruption end up in Gitmo themselves.

I've heard that North Korea has some openings that he might be qualified for.

A prisoner of war is one wearing a signatory countrys' uniform while engaging in internationally lawful warfare. Killing innocent women and children in torture chambers or just for effect, earns them no rights under any but the most anti-American interpretation of law.
The senators like to play political games then point fingers of blame when things don't turn out like they hoped. "Success has many fathers while failure is an orphan."

Good Luck to you Mr. Haynes!
You served your country well against the war on terrorism and helped keep the looney, defeatist democRATS out of the national security picture.
This country has been safe since 9/11/01 and we owe it all to you, our military and President Bush.

cj,
So tell me when we decided to attack Iraq, which country in the axis of evil was more of a threat to the US?
Iraq where there were no WMDs, or North Korea that freely admitted that they had nukes and were willing to use them, or sell them to the highest bidder?
So tell me again why we attacked Iraq?

Too bad your hero couldn't interrupt his month-long August, 2001 vacation to "make us safe" before 9/11. Or was it Clinton's fault that Bush went on vacation for a month?

Hey Dogjudge,
Leave these complex issues to the adults. Don't worry your little head about this stuff... it is WAY over it.

No answer cj? It sure looks like a simple question to me.
