Ron Paul is not here. Well maybe he is. Talking about saving his congressional seat.
He was nowhere in this posting, not to be seen in the halls of the Washington hotel where the Conservative Political Action Convention wraps up today.
Mike Huckabee is here, along with a few dozen mostly young supporters waiting with signs at the door to greet the former governor of Arkansas, the last of the Republican candidates for president to speak here. Paul spoke the other day. So did Mitt Romney, as he was quitting the race, leaving the contest for the party's nomination, apparently, to Sen. John McCain.
The question is, when the contest is finished, where will these people go?
Where will the people who conspired to raise $6 million for Ron Paul in one record day of Internet-fundraisng in December go? Will they settle for McCain, who drew boos among the cheers as he appeared here this week, his party's nominee-apparent?
Will they stay with their party? Or will they move to the third or fourth presidential candidate on the ballot in November? The candidate like Paul, in 1988, when he ran as the Libertarian. He appeared on the ballots in 46 states and drew 431,750 votes, less than one percent.
Now Paul is here: He has ruled out running as a third-party candidate this year, saying in Texas that he is continuing to campaign but also must pay attention to not losing his party's primary for his congressional seat. He wrote on his Web-site that he is cutting his national staff and must focus on keeping his House seat.
"With Romney gone, the chances of a brokered convention are nearly zero," Paul wrote. "But that does not affect my determination to fight on, in every caucus and primary remaining, and at the convention for our ideas, with just as many delegates as I can get."
Paul's latest entry on his Web site also included a request that supporters not neglect his other "priority," which is making sure that he keeps his office. ""If I were to lose the primary for my congressional seat, all our opponents would react with glee, and pretend it was a rejection of our ideas," Paul wrote. "I cannot and will not let that happen."
So, will the people who have campaigned so fervently for the Huckabees and Pauls of the party become one-percenters in November? Or will they rally to their party's cause?
Their candidates may be gone, but the decisions they make in November will have a significant bearing on the outcome of the election on which everyone is so focused here, this cold grey morning in Washington on which Mike Huckabee will take the last candidate's stand at the CPAC, the place where so much doubt about John McCain resides.

I wonder if the Paul supporters will support McCain once Paul drops. They supported Pauls stand on the war and quite frankly I can't see how they would turn to McCain who is all about war. Heck, he wants more wars as if 2 weren't enough. The right sure is conservative, just not with American lives or our money.

Huh? We won't be voting for McCain that's for sure. And Mitt's folks are already coming over to us.

As long as the republican party supports a candidate that doesn't support the ideals that the republican party was founded on:
Small Government - Reduced spending - Lower taxes - less social programs such as automatic citizenship for illegals born here, then this Republican for the past 30+ years will not be voting for a Republican.

coming from a lifetime republican, I will never support John McCain..
i will not sacrifice principle for a party who has constantly called use kooks for the past year. they have dug their own grave.

Ron Paul is indeed still here, in his own words:
"This Revolution is permanent. It will not end at the Republican convention. It will not end in November. It will not end until we have won the great battle on which we have embarked. Not because of me, but because of you. Millions of Americans -- and friends in many other countries -- have dedicated themselves to the principles of liberty: to free enterprise, limited government, sound money, no income tax, and peace. We will not falter so long as there is one restriction on our persons, our property, our civil liberties.
With Romney gone, the chances of a brokered convention are nearly zero. But that does not affect my determination to fight on, in every caucus and primary remaining, and at the convention for our ideas, with just as many delegates as I can get."
I can only speak for myself, but I will never, ever vote for John McCain or any other candidate who would deny me my liberty and subject my children to "another 100 years" of war. I'm not convinced that Obama, for all his talk of ending the war, would actually make good on his promises, as much as I would like to believe it. So the only course left for me is the one I've been taking so far--promote the ideals of free and limited government and get as many people as I can to join me in STILL voting for Ron Paul.
Posted by: Lynn | February 9, 2008 9:23 AM
As a long time Ron Paul supporter, I will never vote for McCain. Principles are far more important to most Paul supporters than party, and Mccain is the anti-Paul. Why would I ever vote against everything I believe in?
Posted by: Liz | February 9, 2008 9:28 AM
No none of us will vote for Mccain- Ever!
Sadly our only choice will be Obama......
Mark my words almost all Ron Pauls support will go to Obama unless there is a thrid party antiwar canidate

Well let me speak for this Ron Paul supporter. If I can, I will write Ron's name in. If I can't, I just won't vote.
Posted by: Jim_NYC | February 9, 2008 9:30 AM
McCain is no different than Clinton or Obama. A vote for any of those 3 is wasted. Ron Paul supporters will either vote for him as an Independent if he runs, or write him in. We're not going to cast a vote for one of the Corporatist Party candidates whether it is the big-government globalist Republican puppet or the big-government globalist Democrat puppet.

I've been listening to Huck speak at cpac. He is once again pandering to the "religious". My problem isn't that I am unfamiliar with religion, it's that I am all to familiar with religion. I have spent years with those religious people who once they leave the church and begin their talking about people behind their backs and against blacks and immigration and anyone else who they dislike. I know atheists that live a more moral life than the religious. The great loop hole they put in to make them feel better? You don't have to live a christian life, you just have to believe. Wow...how wonderful. They create religion because they fear death and can't come to grips with that. That is why they stand on the right. Fear is such a great motivator.

This RP supporter will either be writing-in Mr. Paul in November (if it's available) or will be voting for the Constitution Party or Libertarian Party candidate. The lazy and ignorant American people, assisted by a government-controlled education system (google "The Deliberate Dumbing Down of America")and a corrupt and controlled "news" media, are deserving of the impending totalitarian rule they are now voting for. "The Son of the First Murderer" (McCain) will surely kill thousands more young men and women in some other fabricated "war" to continue the assault on the American middle class and the alternative is the blatant Socialism of the "Democratic" party candidate. The ten planks of the Communist Manifesto have been fully implemented in America! The "Remnant" will be active to restore the Republic and be assured, another revolution is at hand.
Posted by: Sean | February 9, 2008 9:40 AM
Don't be so glum, Mark. You must hang out with too many reporters. There hasn't been a single election yet since Romney dropped out, and Huckabee may surprise the press yet again. They haven't been right about anything all year.

No, I'll keep fighting for our freedom and the person our troops want to be President! What presidential candidate gets A LOT more money than anyone else from the troops?

The vast majority of Ron Paul supporters have no party. WE have a message. WE have an ethos. WE have a goal. And frankly all other candidates are unworthy, because all other candidates are big government and scoff at the supreme law of the land our Constitution.
No other candidate will lay claim to our gift of donations (unless they are the few running for congress under the Ron Paul Liberty ethic). No other candidate will lay claim to our enthusiasm. They are simply not worth the time of people who love liberty, because they DO NOT. Myself I will continue to work towards Dr. Paul, perhaps not so fervently, but we haven't had our chance to send our message to the politicians yet. Here in Kentucky I aim to see how many votes I can push towards Dr. Paul to send an even bigger message.
"HONOR YOUR OATH, OR YOU ARE UNWORTHY."

Ron Paul hasnt quit. He is fighting on two fronts. His congressional seat is in jeopardy now. So for the moment, he will be working on saving his seat in congress.
Posted by: Ted | February 9, 2008 10:06 AM
A Paul-less ticket would cause me to vote for Obama as a protest vote. My party that I have supported for 12 years disgust me. McCain is a lieing liberal. I believe his cabinet would be worse then Bush's.
Posted by: Greg | February 9, 2008 10:08 AM
No party's cause is a reason to vote. My cause is freedom to pursue happiness, no matter what that may be. Rights are inalienable and inherent and can not legally be restricted. The war on drugs represents no one except prisons and tyranny.
If Ron Paul is not the Rep Nom then I will not vote democratic or republican. neither is trying to free us in a time of oppression and government corruption. Ron Paul represents the true rights of all people. The freedom to live how you want.
Posted by: Daniel Swiatek | February 9, 2008 10:10 AM
Ron Paul supporters will never, and I do mean never, support McCain or any of the other Republican In Name Only (RINO) candidates.
McCain may claim to be a republican, but he is the anti-Paul. He wants more wars. He wants more spending. He wants amnesty for illegals(did you see the latest bill with his name on it?). He wants bigger government. And he wants to continue the eroding of our civil liberties.
McCain would be a democrat if it wasn't for his stance on Iraq and foreign policy, which is actually ULTRA-liberal.
McCain is not conservative. He is a neocon. There is a lot of resentment and anger that he is the nominee, which may end up fracturing the GOP in the end.
On top of that, just look at the voting numbers. The republicans are getting crushed in voter turnout 3-to-1. Over 3/4 of Americans want us out of the war. With a warmonger like McCain as the nominee, the republicans will be absolutely destroyed in November, especially with the loyal 6% that Paul has not voting for McCain. It will be like Regan/Mondale, only this time it will be reversed.
Ron Paul supporters have "woke up". They do not believe in voting for the lesser of two evils. They don't believe they should vote for someone just because the media tells them to. They do not believe in voting for someone just because they're the republican nominee. They vote on principles.
Ron Paul voters will vote Ron Paul. If we doesn't win the nomination, we will still vote Ron Paul. We'll write him in if we have to. And if we can't write him in then we will vote democrat to protest.
But one thing I can guarantee is that we won't vote for McCain.

I will never support "Amnesty" McCain or anyone else from the Democratic wing of the Republican party--I won't even think about it unless the Republicans adopt a little of Ron Paul's message.
I'm seriously wondering if it is time to leave the Republican party? Maybe I'll go to the Libertarian party...my conscience does not allow for much else...
Posted by: JP | February 9, 2008 10:14 AM
There's no way we would vote for any of the other Republicans. They've shown quite clearly that they are not interested in conservative values or in the future of their party, so they've spurned the largest (and probably the last) pro-Republican grassroots movement. I'll go back to getting Libertarians elected. I will however keep an eye on Ron Paul and support any candidates he endorses, in any party. I'll also donate to his congressional campaign to get him back his seat in Texas.

Wayne Root is the frontrunner for the Libertarian Party nomination. He won the Missouri Libertarian Primary on Super Tuesday, and placed 2nd in Arizona.
Naturally, the bulk of Ron Paul supporters will flock to Root and the Libertarian Party. "Millionaire Republican" and Vegas Sports Gaming oddsmaker Root has major TV appeal, and will run a well-funded campaign.
If Root garners 2 to 3 million votes in November he could sway the election.

Very dissapointed that Dr. Paul won't make a third party run. Can he actually be so loyal to the party of lying hipocrates that he doesn't want to be potentially seen as a spoiler?
We need him now, more than ever, to run. I think in a national race he catches on fire, and is elected as an independant by a landslide!
Hoping he will change his mind.

I am not a party puppet.
Unlike most Americans (excluding Ron Paul followers), I never approach an election as if it were a horse race or football game, using my vote as a bet on who I think will win.
Despite what this article suggests, THERE IS NO WASTED VOTE.
The final truth is: If you vote for Obama, Juan McCain, or Kommrade Billary Klinton you are contributing to the demise of America.
Posted by: Captain Joe | February 9, 2008 10:36 AM
I will either do a Write In for Congressman Ron Paul, or I will not vote. I would be willing to wager that if Ron Paul got 1 million write in votes, we would never hear about it in the press.
Ron Paul or nothing for me, thank you.
Posted by: Will Phelps | February 9, 2008 10:41 AM
Looks to me like the troops second choice is Obama so that's where my vote will go.
I do not support this war. If the GOP is too stupid to realize that Ron Paul was their only chance, then here's so straight talk....
adios my friends

The Republican party is dead. As a life long Republican, I will never vote republican (or Democrat) again. I will vote for anyone but the two. As for the general election, I will write in Ron Paul. I have also canceled my newspaper subscriptions and my cable television (screw Fox, CBS, ABC, CNN, etc.). Even Pravda dishes up more real news. Americans that voted for McWar will soon rue the day. I simply cannot believe that Americans rejected the most intelligent, honest and principled man in politics. Enjoy the depression… idiots.

Problem is Hillary is going to steal the election from Obama, and then you're going to have establishment against establishment. Ron Paul supporters will vote on principle which would be the libertarians. The question is where are Obama supporters going

We will NEVER,EVER vote for Mccain. We will vote Dem or write in RP on the ballot. The Republican party is in serious trouble and is about to flush out all the young people anxious to get into politics. We don't want a hundred year war. We don't want the government in our lives at every turn. The Revolution has just begun...

I will vote for Ron in the Texas primary March 4. After that it looks like libertarian for November. I sign the conservative exodus project petition and am bound by my word and principles to NOT vote for Mcain. The Republican Party does not represent me anymore and has not for some time. I am no stranger to third party voting. lol

I think Mike Huckabee aligns more with Ron Paul's views a whole lot more than anyone else in this race. Mike Huckabee doesn't want to stay overseas forever. He wants to get the job done, leave it with honor, and stay out. His policy on Iran is containment not engagement.
Whereas McCain recently said, "bomb bomb bomb Iran".. He would prefer to stay in Iraq "100 years".
The best choice for Ron Paul supporters is Mike Huckabee.

I am amazed that a journalist or blogger could speculate whether Ron Paul supporters might switch to McCain. These writers still do not get it. Maybe 1% tops would. The rest of us -- we are SO outta here! Down with McCain. Down with the Republican Party. Bring on the War and the Poverty, for Liberty is dead. Well, it was a fun 232 years, if that.

I am a Ron Paul supporter. 30 years I have looked for a candidate like Ron. Sad to say the powers that be, the media owners, Republican Party, large corporations are not interested in making any change. Conspiracy you say, just get on the internet and do your own research. Not some self made internet site but the actual business, government, media sites, they tell the story on in their own words.
$3,100,000,000,000.00 and a minimally promised $500,000,000,000.00 debt. Do you see all the zeros? The media just yawned. Our so-called presidential candidates from both parties failed to mention the budget (except Ron Paul). All of America continued spending, attending the kids sporting events, and stopping at Dunn Brothers on the way to work. The spending of Americans and government just continues. The blind leading the blind to self-destruction. Bosnia, many countries in the African continent, Russia has experienced economic collapse.
Our American arrogance has developed into making us the police officer of the world. That same arrogance is allowing us blindly believe America is too great to suffer economic collapse.
Americans are just a bunch of wind, so afraid or not willing to change direction we follow our leaders both Decorates and Republican down a self-destructive path. This election cycle we actually have a patriot who is change. He has the history to back up the claim of change and America ran from him. Shame on us and we deserve every event that happens to us. The truth is American electorates are absolutely nuts and lost not Ron Paul. The insane always think the sane are insane.
Good luck to us all, we need it.

Many will likely either write in his name, or vote libertarian. The Republican's are Republican only in name; so voting Libertarian is the closest thing they can do to supporting the traditional constitutional Republican platform. The remaining states have supporters that will vote for Paul in the primary of course. This is a long term movement, not something that is done at the end of this year.
Posted by: Heath | February 9, 2008 11:47 AM
Seems you're having difficulty reading. Ron Paul is not gone. But, oh, lookey: the Old Media is finally noticing Ron Paul! Hey, nice to see you. Now that you're acknowledging Ron Paul's existence, you might want to take a moment to learn about how he is the only candidate actually working to defend our freedoms and our Constitution. That includes YOUR personal freedoms, dear.
Now, you don't really expect us to support any other candidate, do you? In the words of George Stephanopoulos, "That's not gonna happen." And, as much as we love Ron Paul, this movement isn't about him. This is a revolution to return to the roots that our Founding Fathers paid so dear a price for. It's about an ideal far bigger than any one candidate. And it's bigger than any drivel printed or broadcasted by Old Media.

Posted by: L.Step | February 9, 2008 11:53 AM
McCain and Paul are political opposites. The issues McCain appeals to 'moderates' on, such as immigration and global warming, are the very issues that Paul is conservative on. And the one issue that McCain is CONSIDERED to be 'conservative' on, i.e., War, is the one Paul appeals to liberals on. There is no philosophical comparison between the two that would make a rational Paul supporter become a McCain supporter.

Regardless of whether he continues to run or not, regardless of whether he keeps his seat in Congress or not, regardless of whether he dies tomorrow - my vote is for Ron Paul. It is the least of a great debt of gratitude I owe him for showing me there is still an honest man left in the world. Truly Demosthenes would have been well pleased. Others might thank him from curing their apathy - but Dr. Paul, thank you for curing my cynicism!

Well,I guess you have heard them. If they weren't fervent, and purists in their hearts regarding the value and basis of liberty, they would still be cussing and muttering with no way to go. Without knowledge and belief of the proven way to ensure the absence of a despotic government, which is our intact Constitution and Bill of Rights, and a champion to support, they wouldn't have risen up, but would have gone with the edicts of the media, or ignored the whole mess while being ashamed to be American. What did you think that many passionate followers would do? NOT VOTE FOR A WARMONGER. I am getting Obama stickers to go with the Ron Paul ones until after my man has had a chance to speak at the convention. I encourage anyone who loves liberty to stick with Dr.Paul to the end to further spread the influence of freedom with peace. Then we turn our attention to the rest of the elected officials. This is only the beginning.

I have the same comment to leave here as I did at Forbes.com:
The Republican Party (the classic right wing of it especially) and the major national media (most notably Fox News, CBS News and NBC News) have given the symbolic finger to those who have supported the principles on which Ron Paul was running. I can't speak for other Ron Paul supporters, but I: 1) view the Republican Party entirely differently now. I have always tended to vote Libertarian when one was on the ballot, but would consider a Republican or in some instances a Democrat if the individual running shared my values. Now, I have no interest in EVER voting for a Republican.. REGARDLESS. I do not agree with the concept of unconstitutionally excessive reach of the federal government, so on a national level, voting Democrat is out of the question for me. But the GOP's throwing the libertarian legacy of Ronald Reagan under the bus along with Ron Paul has destroyed my interest in supporting them EVER again.
Also, I: 2) will avoid watching Fox News forever. Anything that has the Fox network logo on it will be tainted in my mind forever. I will boycott any advertisers that I know advertise with Fox News, ESPECIALLY any program featuring Sean Hannity. Rush Limbaugh snubbed any mention of Paul; I now no longer listen to his program (after 20 years of daily listenership). Ditto Glenn Beck and Tucker Carlson (the choreographer of the 'brothel owner supports Ron Paul' story). 3) I will also remember the national print media who insisted on incessantly labeling Ron Paul a "long-shot", "quixotic", "dark horse" candidate. You know as well as I do the effect that painting these perspectives in people's minds becomes self-perpetuating.
Ron Paul received more campaign contributions from active military personnel than any other candidate. Major national media and GOP: you gave the finger to these people too by ignoring Ron Paul. Brave soldiers: thank you for serving our nation, but I don't blame you a bit if you think long and hard about re-enlisting when asked to do so. How much gratitude do you think the American people are giving you when they allow their broadcast and print media to ridicule or completely ignore the only candidate that campaigns on bringing you home?
When our economy completely collapses, our grandparents, who lived through the FIRST Great Depression, will say to us, "You greedy kids wanted to keep peeing money into every wasteful thing and pushing the debt further off into the future. As the saying goes, 'Looks like the chickens have come home to roost.'"

Pat Buchanan said that a president McCain would make Cheney look like Ghandi. I'm certain he's correct. Now who in their right mind would want a "Cheney on steroids" in the White House?
I will write Ron Paul's name in if I have to. Aside from that, my wife and I are looking into other countries to move to. As George Carlin said, the US is "circling the drain".

No, we most certainly not vote for McCain. I suspect the Constitution Party and the Libertarian Party candidates will win voters.
Why wouldn't you listen to us? It was never about party - it was about the country!
Posted by: Alexia | February 9, 2008 12:18 PM
From Paul to Obama - this doesn't make sense. Trying to stick it to "the man" by voting for Obama? Look again, do some research.
Is the oil-war the issue? Because Obama loves war just as much - he'll just call invading Sudan (third largest African oil producing country) a "Humanitarian effort."
McCain's too liberal so we should vote for the candidate who wants to increase spending by almost $300 Billion?
In all honesty, it's probably just because they'd rather have Obama over for tea than McCain (Obama is 'hip' these days).
Posted by: Kelsey | February 9, 2008 12:21 PM
The public tantrums of the Ron Paul supporters on this page are probably not doing their candidate much good, nor are they very rational. If libertarians are unwilling to vote for anyone who is not one of them, they will only be able to influence elections in which one of them has a chance to win. This appears to be a very rare occurrence.

McCain is the antitheses of Ron Paul. More Ron Paul supporters will write his name in than will vote for McCain.
Hillay won't get his votes either, nor will Huckabee; Obama has a chance.
As for me, I will vote for whomever the Libertarian candidate is. I will absolutely NOT play the game of voting for the lesser of two evils (which is the goal of MSM). I will not waste my vote on someone who does not share my views. Period.

Vote for McCain.
NEVER. As far as I'm concerned America is dead.
The power brokers have won.
Their spawn Hillary will be president.
You don't really think McCain has a chance to beat her.
Silly Rabbit Trix are for kids.
Romney took the fall so as to throw the Republican nomination to McCain.
MY GOD what is going to happen to us when that avowed Marxist "Hillary" gets to use the fascist dictatorship powers that Dubya gave himself?
Say goodbye to individualism and the right to privacy.
Say goodbye to the right to the fruits of your labors.
Say hello to more WELFARE.
Say hello to MUCH MORE GOVERNMENT.
Say goodbye to me.
I am outta here. I am going to take my family, what's left of my life savings, my ability to earn, and my skills AND I AM LEAVING!
You apathetic, moronic, bovine, sheep can have each other.

He who has the last laugh laughs first. No socialists and no nationalists for me. I will write in Ron Paul.

I wouldn't vote for a candidate that extorts money for any campaign or reason. I had a long-dormant credit card that I signed up for years ago to get free shipping, and suddenly I received a statement with a $5.00 "donation" to the Ron Paul election fund. I cancelled the card and the "donation." I'm trying to figure out if this is fraud, or just simple theft.

Thank god. I am SO SICK of Ronbots. Whack jobs.

The only way McCain can keep any libertarians in the GOP is if he selects a good VP pick: Gov. Sarah Palin, Gov. Butch Otter, Sen. John Sununu, former Gov. Gary Johnson or Rep. Jeff Flake.

Vote for McCain...HELL NO! I will write in Ron Paul...and will have a clear conscience!

I voted for Ron Paul. If he is not the candidate, and thats a sure thing, I will vote for Obama.

NICE TRY. This is just more media propaganda. RON PAUL IS STILL IN. This is just another media controlled outlet. You don't believe the other networks, because you KNOW they are manipulating the stats and are scared to death Ron may actually win, SO, they will try the more subtle approach with underground and off the beaten path media outlets (like this one.) Same crap, different channel. Ron Paul is NOT quitting, and is the ONLY candidate that will have a clear, undeniable MANDATE from the people.

RON PAUL IS NOT OUT OF THE RACE YET!!!!!
He is going to focus on winning the primary for his House seat (which is less than a month away). But he's not dropping out of the race.
It's interesting that the same media who has acted as though Ron Paul is not even running, is now jumping to twist his words and tell everyone that he has dropped out.
With Romney out of the race, and Huckabee probably soon to drop out, we are left with a very exciting two-man race between McCain and Paul!

the more i read these comments, the more im convinced McCain is the guy. ill be voting for him. for those who have taken their McCain hatred up a notch, consider your hypocrisy.

McCain is trash, Hillary is trash, the complacent and apathetic are trash. In summary, this loss has proved this country is heading toward the trash bin.
No one has an urge to understand, comprehend, or learn anymore. It's all drool from one to drool for the masses, and when a man speaks out against the "powers that be", the other idiots in congress, the poisoned political system and military industrial congress, no one wants to take the time to understand, they want to take a second to choose a word for what they don't understand, comprehend, or know- he's "crazy". Americans are just lazy, more watch the Super Bowl than vote, less know anything about government, and the one's who have the power are given the power to manipulate them however they want them to be manipulated. Paul actually restrained himself because he knew that restraint was written in the Constitution, not written in to erode.
I can't wait for the Republican party to slither away, for Democrats to turn out to be exactly as corrupt as Bush and his cronies, and for the country to see that they sacrificed a country and idea millions died for and even more dreamt of . . . All for a little bit of beer, TV, and time away from responsibility.
How can God bless America when his children take turns humping decadence?

The only true congressman. The only one who cares for the people. The only one that represents the people. He represents "for the People by the People" I will vote neither party nor canidate and Write a big phat RON PAUL on my ballad regardless on any consequences. No true Ron Paul supporter would switch to Barack Obama - I certainly won't
Ron Paul supporters believe in the Right to Bear Arms. We believe in low/zero federal income tax. We believe in the individual
Obama believes in the power of the government to shape society through heavy taxation. That is a path toward less freedom and liberty.

Given the treatment of Paul and the hostility of Republicans in my area to Paul's real Conservative ideas. I'm gone forever. The GOP and the DNC are just one party with two factions. No thanks.
Posted by: joe | February 9, 2008 1:41 PM
My beliefs fall midway between centrist and conservative. I have strongly disagreed with positions of several Republican presidential nominees, but recognizing my responsibility to help elect the best possible President, I have supported the Republican Party for nearly 40 years. I am fed up with all this whining against McCain, and threats to vote for Hilary or not vote at all. The next President will likely select jurists to replace two very liberal Supreme Court members. If you really think that Hilary will select jurists more to your liking, you are better off as a Democrat. It is time to grow up and recognize that you don’t get to have your way every election.

Seriously, when will common sense enter into this whole fiasco of an election.
With Ron Paul pulling back and concentrating on the areas he has already been elected to serve. We are presented with another reason that he was the right person for the job.
Dedication speaks volumes about this man's integrity.
I think all supporters of the Ron Paul message need to organize and carry the fight for Constitutionality and legitimate election processes to the masses.
We need a central location for information dissemination.
4.5 years might seem a lifetime away, but actually it's only a blink in reality. Yes the country will be further in the hole and our rights will be further eroded away, but we can still start grooming a candidate now.
Peace and good will to all!

Ummm....Ron Paul has NOT quit his run for the White House.
You neo-cons wish.
Ron is taking a brief time to secure his Congressional seat.
Ron Paul has a better chance to win then the media wants people to realize.
Most of these delegates McCain "won" are uncommited.
You people forget Ron Paul beat McCain in a bunch of states.
This is just another example of another pathetic artile by those who wish to control your minds.
Pull the wool out of your eyes America. Ron Paul is the only candidate who will turn our Country away from spending itself into bankruptcy.
Posted by: Shohadaku | February 9, 2008 1:49 PM
No one can discount what Ron Paul began, nor the message which was so enthusiastically supported, and this message will not end with the 2008 election. ONE person can do only so much, even a President. It takes many more like-minded individuals in Congress and the Senate to put these ideas into action and make this REVOLUTION a reality. Where do the Ron Paul Supporters now go to keep the movement and his message alive? They will go to the Republican Liberty Caucus. RLC.org. An organization which supports candidates, the "foot soldiers" of the LIBERTY movement so to speak who will continue the political fight for everything Ron Paul stands for. The fight for Liberty and the NEW “hope for America” has only just begun!

I'll vote Gov. Huckabee. He is the most conservative candidate and life is required to exercise liberty and the pursuit of happiness and he is the strongest candidate on life and has a solid gold record on this most precious of our inalienable rights.
McCain isn't conservative and the Democratic candidates aren't. I won't let emotion sway me. I will stick with the principles and issues I hold dearest.
Therefore, Gov. Huckabee has my vote and my ardent support. Where he is not where I want him to be I will strive to influence him.
It's Gov. Huckabee for me NOT McCain or the Democrats or anyone who will give the election to the Democrats.
Posted by: rrn | February 9, 2008 1:57 PM
I will not vote for McCain. He has no understanding of the economy and would be a puppet to those that already influence it. He says he can lead our Military because he goes out to Iraq and is with the troops. To bad he really doesn't listen to the troops, because they are expressing their opinion the only way they can, through donations.
Like others have said, I am not a party supporter, I support the person I think is best for the country.

All we know is what Dr. Paul said in his statement. We don't know what's going on behind the scenes. Several of his top long-time supporters (Justin Raimondo, Eric Garris, etc.) have urged him to run 3rd Party. Lew Rockwell, one of his closest friends, has reprinted those articles on his web site. (www.lewrockwell.com).
His first priority is getting the Republican nomination in the Texas Primary for his Congressional seat. The establishment Republicans have tried to defeat him there before, but they haven't been able to. I think he's right -- if he doesn't win, everyone will say that "he can't even win his own district." Once he gets the Republican nomination, he'll be able to make a decision on going 3rd Party. If he were to go 3rd Party now, his enemy would have a lot more ammunition to use against him in the primary campaign. However, once he wins the campaign, it's unlikely that his congressional district would elect a Democrat.
The Texas Republican primary on March 4. If he were to make a decision on running as a Third Party nominee (Libertarian, Constitution Parties), he could do so after he's sewn up the Republican nomination on March 4. The CP and LP conventions aren't until late April and early May. I would like to see these two join together -- and both of them nominate Ron for their party's nomination. Or perhaps he could run LP -- and the CP could endorse him.
Hopefully he won't lose the TX primary, but it'll probably be a tough fight, because the Republican establishment, which has never liked him, and has tried to defeat him in the past (even going so far as to support his Democratic opponent in the general election), will be gunning for him. If he loses that primary, it wouldn't look good, but he would then be free to run Third Party.
My guess is that he's already in negotiations with trusted parties in the LP, and maybe the CP, about this and probably has been for some time. In the meantime, though, he has to stick to the little white lie that he's "a Republican."
I think cutting his staff and trimming his national campaign is a good idea. He can save that money for when he does decide to go 3rd Party.
All of this is just conjecture, of course. I really don't have any insie info about what's going on. Maybe he does think that the best way to go is to try to build a movement within the Republican Party. We'll have to see what happens after March 4. It could be that Dr. Paul will do well in the next several Republican primaries and caucuses, and then he'll take his fight all the way to the convention.
In the meantime, though, it's up to all of us to keep the Revolution alive, keep working at the local level, keep donating, keep spreading the word, and keep building some momentum. We'll have to wait to see how this plays out.
For a great satire on the president, the mainstream media, and the war on terror, see this YouTube music video from the international award-winning zombie musical feature film, "Song of the Dead." (www.songofthedead.com)It' stars horror movie veteran Reggie Bannister (Phantasm, Wishmaster, Bubba Ho-tep) as the president of the U.S. The filmmaker, Chip Gubera, is giving a share of his profits from DVD sales to the Ron Paul campaign. Ron Paul is the only person worthy of my vote. Everyone else is being propped up by corporate concerns. Ron Paul was the only one running on principles our founding fathers would approve of. McCain (Bush II)is a war mongering waco. Billary will say anything to get elected & Obama's campaign is about demagoguery and lacks substance. The country is going broke, people are taxed to the hilt and the government is more concerned with corporate welfare then the American people.

McCain dug his own grave by laughing, smirking, and mocking Ron Paul at the debates.
You really think that we would vote for a guy who showed our hero and champion of the constitution that much disrespect? honestly now.
McCain may have actually garnered Ron Paul supporters votes against Hillary Clinton if he would have treated Paul like a gentleman.
Instead he was a smug a-hole and he will get no support from me.
As others said I will write Ron Pauls name in, or vote Obama before I vote for McCain. Atleast Obama is a nice guy.

I think he is here for the long run! If you pay attention to the WHOLE BODY of the letter, it reads:
Whoa! What a year this has been. And what achievements we have had. If
I may quote Trotsky of all people, this Revolution is permanent. It
will not end at the Republican convention. It will not end in
November. It
will not end until we have won the great battle on which we have
embarked. Not because of me, but because of you. Millions of Americans
--
and friends in many other countries -- have dedicated themselves to
the
principles of liberty: to free enterprise, limited government, sound
money, no income tax, and peace. We will not falter so long as there
is
one restriction on our persons, our property, our civil liberties. How
much I owe you. I can never possibly repay your generous donations,
hard
work, whole-hearted dedication and love of freedom. How blessed I am
to
be associated with you. Carol, of course, sends her love as well.
Let me tell you my thoughts. With Romney gone, the chances of a
brokered convention are nearly zero. But that does not affect my
determination
to fight on, in every caucus and primary remaining, and at the
convention for our ideas, with just as many delegates as I can get.
But with
so many primaries and caucuses now over, we do not now need so big a
national campaign staff, and so I am making it leaner and tighter. Of
course, I am committed to fighting for our ideas within the Republican
party, so there will be no third party run. I do not denigrate third
parties -- just the opposite, and I have long worked to remove the
ballot-access restrictions on them. But I am a Republican, and I will
remain a
Republican.
I also have another priority. I have constituents in my home district
that I must serve. I cannot and will not let them down. And I have
another battle I must face here as well. If I were to lose the primary
for
my congressional seat, all our opponents would react with glee, and
pretend it was a rejection of our ideas. I cannot and will not let
that
happen.
In the presidential race and the congressional race, I need your
support, as always. And I have plans to continue fighting for our
ideas in
politics and education that I will share with you when I can, for I
will
need you at my side. In the meantime, onward and upward! The neocons,
the warmongers, the socialists, the advocates of inflation will be
hearing much from you and me.
Sincerely,
Ron
It doesn't sound like he is concedin, dropping out, or giving up to me!!!! Remember, reading is fundamental!!

Presidential candidate Mike Huckabee has taken to calling himself a “fiscal conservative,” but who ever heard of a fiscal conservative who raised taxes and spending through the roof while governor of Arkansas? Mike Huckabee is also calling himself “a different kind of Republican,” but that’s just a codeword for a big-government Republican who wants to cover up his tax-and-spend record with folksy talking points and one-liners. Sorry Tax Hike Mike. No dice.
http://www.taxhikemike.org/
Mike Huckabee Cut Taxes 94 Times? Hardly.
Former Governor Mike Huckabee loves to claim to have cut taxes an astounding 94 times. One such quote:“I was the first governor in the history of my state to ever lower taxes, the first one in 160 years. We lowered a total of 94 different taxes and fees.”
The Arkansas Times, which has been covering Huckabee since before he was elected governor over 10 years ago, nicely answers that misleading assertion.
That kind of claim is easily proven false. To name a few tax cuts before him: Clinton in 1991 eliminated income taxes on tens of thousands of low-income families; Dale Bumpers did the same in 1973. Clinton cut capital-gains taxes. Gov. Ben T. Laney eliminated all state ad-valorem taxes, reduced inheritance taxes and gave a homestead exemption for local property taxes.
By claiming to have cut taxes 94 times, Huckabee fixed a standard for what is a tax cut: every little exemption, credit, deduction or tax break of any kind. By that standard every governor the past 60 years cut taxes numerous times. No session of the legislature passes without a dozen or more such cuts.
But tax increases have far outweighed tax cuts in magnitude, and they did under Huckabee, too.
The major tax cut that he claimed, the omnibus income tax cuts for working families in 1997, was the program of Gov. Jim Guy Tucker, who resigned before the legislative session where it was enacted. The legislature rejected Huckabee’s plan but he signed the bill patterned on Tucker plan and thus can claim some credit for it. Huckabee Gets a Failing Grade
Every two years, the Cato Institute grades the 50 governors on fiscal stewardship. Here's last year's assessment of Tax Hike Mike [emphasis added]:
Thanks to a final term grade of F, Huckabee earns an overall grade of D for his entire governorship. Like many Republicans, his grades dropped the longer he stayed in office. In his first few years, he fought hard for a sweeping $70 million tax cut package that was the first broad-based tax cut in the state in more than 20 years. He even signed a bill to cut the state’s 6 percent capital gains tax—a significant pro-growth accomplishment. But nine days after being reelected in 2002, he proposed a sales tax increase to cover a budget deficit caused partly by large spending increases that he proposed and approved, including an expansion in Medicare eligibility that Huckabee made a centerpiece of his 1997 agenda. He agreed to a 3 percent income tax “surcharge” and a 25-cent cigarette tax increase. In response to a court order to increase spending on education, Huckabee proposed another sales tax increase. Huckabee wants to run for the GOP presidential nomination next year. He’s already been hailed as a viable big-government conservative candidate by some. That seems about right: Huckabee’s leadership has left taxpayers in Arkansas much worse off.
1. He doesn’t believe in evolution: Yep, Huckabee is a supporter of the “intelligent design” theory. He has claimed that this issue shouldn’t matter in the presidential election, but why in the world would we want a president who cannot come to objective conclusions based on present information?
2. He is a scaremonger: Huckabee has called Islamofacscism the greatest threat we ever faced. I think he needs to read a few history books and see that a few terrorists in the Middle East are hardly presenting America with greater threats than those faced in its war for independence, a civil war that tore the nation apart, a world war against Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan, and a Cold War against a nuclear-armed USSR.
3. He thinks AIDS patients need to be isolated: Huckabee once advocated isolating AIDS patients from the general public, opposed increased federal funding in the search for a cure and said homosexuality could “pose a dangerous public health risk.” When recently questioned by the media on this view, he defended his previous statements.
4. He puts rapists on the streets: As governor of Arkansas, Huckabee personally demanded the release of a convicted rapist who had been put in jail under Bill Clinton’s governorship. After the man was released on parole, he promptly raped and murdered a young woman. Huckabee has tried to play down his role in the parole of the criminal, but those involved have confirmed that Huckabee was far more involved than he now claims.
5. He claims to be a “fiscal conservative,” but he is lying: Huckabee raised taxes and spending while governor of Arkansas, revealing that he is a free-spending big-government Republican.
6. He thinks God wanted the American people to re-elect George W Bush: At the 2004 meeting of the Republican Governor’s Association, Huckabee put on a performance in which he received a cell phone call from God in with the almighty endorced George W Bush’s reelection campaign.
7. He supports torture: Huckabee will continue the Bush Administration’s policy of torturing detainees if elected president.
8. He wants to give illegal immigrants drivers’ licenses: Thought that stuff he said about being tough on immigration in the youtube video with Chuck Norris was true? You’ve been fooled.
9. He holds extremist views on abortion: Even many pro-lifers would agree that a 15 year-old mentally retarded girl who was raped by her stepfather should be able to get an abortion. As governor of Arkansas, Huckabee blocked Medicaid funding of just such an abortion.
10. He doesn’t follow the news: When the newest National Intelligence Estimate came out revealing Iran was no longer developing nuclear weapons, Huckabee was one of the last people in America to find out about it. Does this guy ever pick up a newspaper?
11. He thinks God wants him to be president: Yes, Huckabee actually said that.
12. He doesn’t want us to know the truth about his past: Huckabee had computer hard drives used during his time as governor crushed at the end of his term in order to keep the information stored there from the public and the press. What are you hiding, governor?

I will either write Paul's name in if he is not the nominee, or vote for another third party candidate such as from the Libertarian or Constitution party. I am a Republican and have been seriously trying to justify voting for the Republican nominee, but I know that I will ALWAYS regret voting for McCain. At least when the Democrats come to power this year, the Republican party will wake up and many will start listen to reason.
The Republican party has no brand name. They need to forget policing the world, and instead rally around the constitution, limited government, and respecting the rights of individuals if they want to regain power. We tried, but they were too stubborn and cannot be helped.

If/When we refuse to support the GOP in this election, we will not be "1%ers". Check your math.
A boycott in '08 will force the GOP to regroup, giving it time for some much-needed soul searching. To rally behind McCain would send the message that conservatives are more about the GOP than values.
I know that to be untrue.

What I have learned from following Ron Paul's campaign is there is a sinister, unamerican plot by the CFR and mainstream media and others to control the flow of the election. Anybody who doesn't see that is blind or hasn't looked. and anyone who can honestly say that they understand Ron Paul's platform should know that his supporters will not vote for anyone who does not agree with his platform.
No more war.... no more clintons... we need a change! A serious change!

Vincent DiCarlo, calm voice of reason. Please tell us, then, who we should vote for and why? Should we vote for a socialist (Democrat), or a neocon (Republican)? Never mind. We know that you are willing to settle for almost anything, though for what reason is not clear.

McCain has not changed a bit since his Democratic days back in 2000. The Republican party has clearly lost its identity. I am a 4th generation republican (Romney supporter) who, if Ron Paul does not win, will gladly walk away from the party.

"...Will they settle for McCain?"
There's a laugh, as I see it, Ron Paul supporters don't even have an alternate candidate that they could vote for in good conscience. Will they settle for Huckabee? is a better question but still extremely far fetched. Will they settle for Obama? is even more likely because of his foreign policy but then you have the exact opposite from Ron Paul when it comes to spending. Personally, I will vote for Obama over McCain or Huckabee, but if left with Hillary and McCain, then to hell with this election and the stupidity of Americans, you get what you deserve from those choices.

My husband and the brave men and women with him, did Not waste the last 18 months of our lives and time to come home and have a war in America. Or to turn around and go back over seas to a war that was a LIE. They know it first hand. They are over there and most can vote, and they are voting Ron Paul. They are voting for America's freedom. They are voting to come home.

Ron McCallister, I used to think as you do. For me the pro-life issue is uppermost. However, I have come to believe that the Republican party is not interested in reversing Roe v Wade. They will simply milk the electorate for the votes they can get from the pro-life people forever. I'm done with that game.

The Media anointed candidate, Senator McCain:
* has the most campaign contributions from media (i.e. news) companies and Wall Street bankers
* had to get a loan floated for his 4th quarter (campaign deficit spending).
* grew up with the privilege of an admiral father and grandfather on navy bases.
* graduated 894th out of 899 at the Naval Academy and lost five jets!
* military donors McCain: $79,597; 413 donors, Paul: $286,764; 1349 donors.
* one of the Charles Keating 5; cost the taxpayer $30 billion dollars and the subsequent failure of the savings and loan business.
* co-author of the McCain-Feingold act to "reform" campaign finance, i.e. protect the Media and Military Industrial Complex anointed against challengers.
* wants amnesty for illegal aliens and hires 'Mexico First' people.
* almost became a Democrat when he didn't get the Republican nod in 2000.
* flip flopped and was against military interventionism in 1994 (Haiti) and 1993 (Somalia):
* committed adultery and left his first wife after she was in an auto accident and became disabled.
* current wife the prospective First Lady adultered with him, was addicted to prescription narcotics and stole hard drugs from a medical charity that she ran.
* was stupefied when asked an economics question by Ron Paul.
* will sing Bomb Bomb Bomb, Bomb Bomb Iran at public gatherings for campaign donations

Where will I go?
First of all, it's not over til the fat lady sings! McCain isn't getting any more popular with the conservative (cause he ISN'T one), abd Huckabee is a renowned hypocrite. On top of that, the Reps will be crushed by the Dems if Ron Paul isn't the nominee.
If that doesn't pan out? I'll write Ron Paul in! Don't think I won't!
Posted by: wv@SC | February 9, 2008 4:56 PM
Mark or someone else versed in the FEC. Can Ron do that? Doesn't the money pledged to his presidential campaign have to be used in this election cycle? Will Ron have to send some of that money back to his supporters who live in their moms' basements?
Fred Thompson endorsed McCain yesterday. That endorsement, alone, will bring three times as many supporters as Ron Paul has had the entire election cycle.
Some of his message was good (small government, fairer tax code). It's too bad he brought the crazy with it (Lincoln never tried to purchase and free the slaves, we should disband the CIA).
I hope he stays more relevant than Perot, who this week endorsed a candidate that's no longer running.

I will not ever cast a vote for McCain and his 100 year wars BS. Ron Paul till the fat lady sings. This system is undeniably flawed!
Oh and all you big L's don't count on all the Paulistas voting for your guy either if we can't write him in. Unless we see something inspiring, all we've heard so far outta your group is a narcissistic approach, nothing more than armchair advice, no soul. Gimme something to hope for again!

Once McCain is annointed as the nominee I beleive that it will be the end of the Republican Party. I have an extended Republican voting family who will all either write in Ron Paul's name, vote Obama out of protest, vote third party, or not vote at all. It truly escapes me why the Republicans have purposely doomed themselves. I do not know if the party will ever recover. I am not sure that I can continue going to party meetings knowing that McCain was the best we could come up with.
Just like the dawn of the 20th century was a Democratic century so shall be the early part of the 21st Century. And just like the previous depression brought on more government intervention than the country could maintain so will this new economic crisis that looms.
We had our chance, ignorance prevailed.

Just wait Mark; it probably won't be too long until McCain loses control of his infamous temper, turns livid, and curses someone out in front of a camera as he often has done, collapsing to the floor unconscious (as he admitted he used to do whenever he was provoked), and then the media's attention will turn to someone who really IS a statesman - Ron Paul.

Ron Paul supporters are a Liberty loving group of dedicated and motivated people. The Republican and the Democratic parties hold Individual Liberty in contempt. Many of Ron Paul's supporters will join with other Freedom lovers, like Libertarians, and continue the to fight for Liberty and our Constitution. Very few will actually go back to choosing the "lesser of two evils", because doing so is still choosing, and endorsing with your vote, EVIL.
Posted by: KenProctor | February 9, 2008 5:48 PM
I am a Ron Paul supporter.
It ain't over yet, so let's wait and see how things play out.
I will vote Ron Paul in the Mar. 4 primary in my home state.
For president I will vote in this order:
1. Ron Paul, as a republican.
2. Barack Obama
or,
3. Hillary Clinton
I will vote for Obama, whom I believe to be an empty shill, or Clinton II, whom I believe to be self-serving, before I ever vote for McCain.
Which is to say, I'll never vote for McCain.
His temper and arrogance, above his other shortcomings, make him unsuitable to be President of the United States.
My two most important objectives currently are to:
1) Elect Ron Paul president
or
2) Keep John McCain from being president.
If I can't vote for Paul as the Republican nominee, then I will vote democrat to sideline McCain.
A third-party candidacy will be of no avail. History proved that with Ross Perot and Ralph Nader. I think Ron Paul understands that, which is why he states he won't run as a third-party candidate.
I never thought I would vote for Obama or Clinton before this moment in time. I now understand Ann Coulter's sentiments about campaigning for Clinton II if McCain is the Republican nominee.
That's how bad I perceive McCain to be for our country -- worse than the worse.
I didn't understand until now why Paul didn't get medieval on Romney, McCain, and Huckabee, whenever the limited chances in the debates enabled him to do so.
Paul even was gracious enough to defend Romney against religious bias toward Mormonism.
Now I understand how important it is to always take the high road. For one, you may need the help and support of a previous adversary should fortunes shift down the road.
Secondly, a victory obtained through taking the low road, such as McCain presumably winning the Republican nomination, is no victory at all.
I believe the Republicans will find this out also in the event of an Obama/McCain or Clinton II/McCain showdown emerges.
Posted by: dom youngross | February 9, 2008 6:04 PM
I'm not a republican and I'm not a democrat either - I vote for honest, hard-working people who stand up for what they believe in - Ron Paul.
What I heard at the Republican Caucus today was sickening, a bunch of people who support Romney and Huckabee who are "holding their noses and voting for McCain anyway"!
This country needs help.

You still don't get it do you? Ron Paul is running as a republican. That doesn't mean that people that believe he is right will transfer to the next guy or gal that can put on a good show. The fund raising pop for the other candidates after the super tuesday results should tell you something. They are riding the horse that will help them out. Nothing more. Dem--Rep--Warlock-- they don't care.

Ron Paul did not quit, and his supporters (including me) will not either. McCain is a traitor to America. I will never vote for him. By the way, if we are only "one percenters" why do you say that the "decisions they make in November will have a significant bearing on the outcome of the election on which everyone is so focused here"?
Posted by: John Bowery | February 9, 2008 6:38 PM
What a disgrace that we will once again be given the choice of choosing from the lesser of two evils. I blame the media who have blatantly ignored Dr. Paul and his views that have inspired so many. I will be writing Ron Paul's name in come election time and in the meantime I will be encouraging everyone I know to research and choose carefully when they vote instead of being spoon fed by the media.

As a 65 year old single father of eleven, including a 16 year old still to raise, I was proud to be out with my San Diego Ron Paul meetup group today, bannering to get his name out there, and talking face to face with pedestrians on a busy street corner.
I told people I was proud to be supporting the only candidate who would lift the crushing burden of a 60 trillion dollar debt off the backs of my children - and theirs, and who would be able to save Social Security (my own little selfish reason :)
I also told them that I would vote for Hillary before I would vote for John McCain. Why? Because while Clinton might turn my children into poor slaves with her Marxist domestic spending, McCain could literally KILL them.
Ron Paul needs only to make the national Republican delegates open their eyes to the polls that show an ignominious slaughter of the GOP at the hands of Hillary, if McCain is their nominee. Ron Paul is truly Conservatism's last best hope.

I will continue to campaign for every Ron Paul Vote we can get. A Ron Paul vote is a correct thinking vote and gives those who are in the know (about what our government has become), hope and a basis for moving forward. I would NOT vote for McCain or any other Republican.

I for one had never heard of Ron Paul until I started to read comments on the Internet... I kept reading over and over again how the newspapers, and television stations were avoiding mentioning his name... I did my own observations of the media and discovered that indeed it was true...It is the media that has decided who the next president of the US should be: Hillary or McCain... I suppose there is very little difference between the two. The only thing I am coming to realize is that there is no freedom of the press in this country... Our liberties - one word I keep hearing over and over from the Ron Paul supporters - will be slowly eroded...I have studied Ron Paul's thoughts and program and I dont generally agree with everything he says, but the fact that the media wants to suppress his agenda makes me wonder what they are afraid of. Perhaps, he is the best choice for president. Perhaps, he is one of the few candidates who has no strings attached to him. Perhaps, both Hillary or McCain are already "owned."

"My Friends", hahahah, Mccain is no friend to the citizens of this country. He is either
a servant of the military industrial complex, or a victim of the fearmongering.
"If we don't defeat them over there they will follow us home." is an irrational assumption. Huckabee is also
a warmonger. He should heed
the advice of his religion.
"Be kind to your enemies, it will heap coal around their heads." War is not a contemporary answer.

I will never vote for John McCain and won't pander to the Republican party. They are going to get what they deserve.....I have been a 20 year supporter of the Republican party. This is truly an amazing time in history as I watch how the American people don,t even have a clue of what is going on with the politricks. I am all for Ron Paul but the political system is already being hijacked by the Corporate Elite and World Bankers. This is a show that they put on for us in cooperation with the Media propaganda, when the next President is Already picked for us. Hillary Clinton(Bilderberg meeting). The Elections are already fixed and it doesn't matter who is the President.
The following was published by Jeane Dixon in the 1970's
Dixon also foresaw the advent of the Antichrist and the False Prophet:
"Satan is now coming into the open to seduce the world and we should be prepared for the inevitable events that are to follow. I have seen that the United States is to play a major role in this development... I have seen a 'government within a government' develop in the US within the last few years... I see this 'government within a government' being controlled and financed by a well-oiled political ‘machine’ of one of our leading political families. With their eye on the White House, I see them discredit any man who occupies it without their approval, no matter how good his political programs may be.
"They will --- through political intimidation, propaganda, and illegal sixth-column activities --- make every effort to show the nation that only their man, the one who heads their 'machine', has the sole right to occupy the White House. Their campaign is going to cause great harm to our nation both here and abroad.
"I 'see' this group succeed in taking over de facto control of the country. They will give rise to an upheaval in our social structure as never before seen. They will bring about increased social unrest and great discontent. Foreign subversive elements will --- as they did in the 1960s --- infiltrate the unruly factions and cause renewed fighting on the nation's campuses and in racial ghettos
"All of the evil in the masses will be swept toward an unknown frenzy by this ‘machine’.
"I 'see' a member of this 'machine' ascend to power in New York City, enforcing new laws and regulations that will affect many households of that great metropolis. [Obviously, the Rockefellers are indicated here]
"The social and religious chaos generated by this political machine throughout the United States will prepare the nation for the coming of the prophet of the Antichrist. This political unit of the East will be the tool of the serpent in delivering the masses to him.
"The False Prophet’s domain shall be the intellectual seduction of mankind. It means a mixture of political, philosophical, and religious ideology that will throw the populations of the world into a deep crisis of faith in God... One of his first duties and responsibilities in readying the world for the advent of his 'master' is to manipulate the available propaganda machines. With teaching and propaganda the prophet will cause people not merely to accept the Antichrist but rather to desire him with positive enthusiasm to create the conditions of his coming and to participate in organizing the frightful and terrifying despotism of his World Empire.
"[The seemingly miraculous phenomena he will produce] will not be supernatural or preternatural events but rather prodigies of science and human achievements, but interpreted in such a way as to lead men away from God and toward the worship of the Antichrist... The prophet of the Antichrist and the Antichrist himself will be specific and identifiable persons!"
WOW!
Most of the people voting in America are getting their political information from the Mas Media (TV,newspaper) and not the internet. The Media,The World Bankers and the Politicians running this election soap opera scam are under control by the few corporate elite.
The New World Order is in full effect and Americans will not wake up. In the future when we protest, we will be called terrorists and The Patriot Act, The Military Commission Act will be implemented on the North American Union Citizens. I will Vote Ron Paul but The System already chose Hillary Clinton (Bilderberg)
These are the candidates who are CFR members
Democrat CFR Candidates:
Barack Obama
Hillary Clinton
John Edwards
Chris Dodd
Bill Richardson
Republican CFR Candidates:
Mitt Romney
Rudy Giuliani
John McCain
Fred Thompson
Mike Huckabee is being advised by the Director of the CFR according to a recent statement made by him.
The main, root cause, issues of the 2008 that none of the candidates is talking about (except for Ron Paul) are the following:
1) the united states debt of $9.2 Trillion (FIAT EMPIRE Home Page)
2) the unfunded liabilities totaling $60 Trillion (U.S. Government Accountability Office (U.S. GAO))
3) the monetization of debt (that is, making money out of thin air - Freedom Force International - Welcome)
Unless your candidate talks about these root-cause issues, they are just spouting empty rhetoric.
Please research these issues and the CFR, and how the CFR is selling the US out to the international bankers.
DO SOME RESEARCH AMERICA
and stop being led like a lam to the slaughter. There will become a time when there will be an abomination in desolation and there will be nowhere to hide.

Screw McCain and SCREW YOU Baltimore Sun for not upholding your duty to the people of this county! We're quickly sliding into a tyrannical police state reminiscent of Germany in the late thirties, complete with our own Reichstag fire (9/11) and YOU'RE NOT INFORMING the masses about it. How about a story on the rampant vote fraud taking place RIGHT NOW? 110% Voter Turnout In Broward County? Are you kidding me? Why isn't this ALL OVER the news? I didn't catch any mention of New Hampshire recount on TV or in your paper. No mention of the fraud in the Louisiana Primary to keep Ron Paul from winning that state (He won LA, by the way). Let's face it people... ALL the media is controlled in this country. It's been bought by Big Corporate and we're fed ONLY what they want us to know about. Ron Paul Revolution? "What revolution? I didn't know it was taking place?" ...only the biggest grass-roots political movement in the history of this country, BUT IT WON'T BE TELEVISED! Nor will it be written about in any of the major newspapers. If people don't wake up to this and start doing something about it, it's over for America as we knew it. Go wake your family and neighbors up. And you journalists and reporters... get your act together! The freedoms that you help us lose are lost for yourself and your families as well!

Now the mask is torn, for those who wish to see. The MSM is used to controlling your every waking thought. They were absolutely TERRIFIED Dr. Paul might be elected. That is why the only coverage of Dr. Paul any person has seen on the MSM has been coverage of the only 'scandal' they could dream up on him. Forget the debates - they were unable to exclude him from them without an obvious outcry even from today's current mind-numbed populace. Think - how many times did you see "news" coverage on say Romney or Huckabee versus Paul, despite his superior fund raising and grassroots support. No, the MSM FREELY ADMITTED it was his IDEOLOGY that made him a "fringe candidate". They didn't come to that conclusion after a full season of campaigning - they DECIDED it at the outset. When the three-way contest made it possible to get to the convention without a majority, Romney bowed out to make it much more difficult for Paul to be nominated. He even said as much. Just remember people, whatever they WANT you to believe, it's fairly certain the opposite is true. The biggest joke was Dr. Paul being in favor of corporations - he would have worked to close the loopholes that give them advantage over small businesses. The SECOND biggest joke was foreign policy - Dr. Paul received more donations from Active Duty military than all other candidates COMBINED.
Who knows - maybe some miracle will happen and we'll make it to a brokered convention. Even if we don't, the coming economic catastrophe will be the best political advertisement ever devised. Just remember you heard it from the Paultards first.

McCain will garner virtually ZERO votes from Paul supporters...you can't treat Paul like a kook and so disrespectfully and expect us to rally behind you. I will either write in Paul's name or vote for Obama if he wins the primary. Either way the GOP is going down for not being the conservatives they said they are. Maybe their collapse will get us a third party interested in conservative values rather than just conservative talk.

This was the time when we reclaimed our virtue.
As history will judge us all in the end, Let us not forget that we stand here for justice. Let us not forget that we stand here for honor. Let them never forget that we will still stand here in defiance of tyranny till the bitter end,

It ain't over till it's over. The press and the big news networks are owned by BIG MONEY and BIG MONEY has assets all over the world. So if Ron Paul gets the formal and constitutionally mandated declaration of war he's asking for, BIG MONEY will be forced to either sell some of those assets or be found guilty of treason for doing business with the enemy, playing both sides as they do now. That's only one of the reasons the press has been "inclined" to ignore him. In spite of the fact that electronic vote counting is just the latest version of that good old American tradition of election rigging, it's a different race now with Romney gone and Ron Paul is bound to pick up some delegates who can't stomach McCain. And how long can the uninspiring Governor Huckabee afford to stay in the race? I still have a few more dollars with Ron Paul's name on them. It ain't over till it's over. Tell it like it is Ron!

The Republican party slit its own throat. The hunger and thirst in this country for change is a beautiful thing to behold. The Republican party was handed a possibility in the form of Ron Paul to get back to its roots and all they could do was tear him down.
Most of Ron Paul's supporters are not folks who registered Republican to support the party, they are Ron Paul Republicans and I'm sure many had to hold their nose's in order to make the switch. We are Democrats and Libertarians. Many are Independents.
I WILL NOT vote for any Republican other than Ron Paul. Not even if you held a gun to my head.
In fact, Ron Paul's message is so strong and so uplifting, that I WOULD TAKE A BULLET FOR RON PAUL.
The REPUBLICAN PARTY IS TOAST!

Let Washington DC burn to the ground with a majority of congress in the flames. I see little difference in the role that DC now plays with that of the british empire during our revolutionary war.
Let it be known to Washington that their day or reckoning is fast approaching. Ron Paul is just a match but we the gasoline.

You aren't going to find many Ron Paul supporters that would ever vote for McCain, I would think hardly any at all judging from the over 30 or so that I know personally. Ron Paul's supporters came to him because of his message, not because the media forced him down our throats, like they did with all of the "front-runner" candidates. Paul's non-interventionist foreign policy, Constitutional defense of personal liberties including freedom from illegal and immoral taxation such as the income tax and the inflation tax, is in direct opposition to McCain and all of the other candidates left in the race for that matter. I for one will write him in if I have to, and I'd like to see him consider Gravel or Kucinich, both Democrats for VP. All three of these people share their sincere dedication to the defense of The Constitution and our civil liberties.

I'm writing Ron Paul's name on the ballot. For the Republic, for the Cause.
Posted by: Adam Rodriguez | February 10, 2008 12:30 AM
Well there you have it MSM. No we will not vote for McCain. We have morals that will not be compromised. I will write in Ron Paul as well or I will mot vote at all. After this election I will be dropping out of the Republican party. They have shamed and failed us, and I can no longer be a part of it.

I for one, as a Ron Paul supporter, will be either writing in his name or skipping the polls entirely come election day.

McCain is a wolf in sheeps clothing. He is a puppet of CFR....he's stupid too. Notice the other sheep in wolfs clothing George Bush is stupid too? o.0 Seems a requirement to be a CFR crony is to be stupid.^^
My vote is definitley for Ron Paul, he has balls and he is spurring a revolution unwittingly from an oppressed people. I've stopped paying my taxes theres no law saying I have to.^^ I think Ron Paul knows this too.
Anyways America was founded on freedom from oppression. How is modern day America not a growing form of oppression. IM video taped forty five minutes a day just going to work. Now there gonna put a chip in my arm this year. Screw that, I'm headed off to another country. Im seeking a survival group and Im outta here. If Ron Paul doesnt win, forever more will America be changed. Nothing left worth salvaging. It will be a truly saddening event. I was a member of the U.S. Army, I was there in Iraq in 2003 to 2004. I was an infantryman.... I came back and witnessed Nancy Pelosi commit treason and be applauded! Thats how the American people felt about my life. The war is fake. 9/11 was staged! Americans eat this up with more and more enjoyment. There being led like cattle to the slaughter.
Well I'm done with it. America isnt America if Ron Paul isnt elected.

The GOP will be sorry they squelched the very 20% that could have gotten them a sure win in November -- Ron Paul against either Obama or Hillary.
Posted by: NH_GOP | February 10, 2008 1:58 AM
I've been a Republican all my life but if Paul is not the nominee, this is where I leave. And I won't be going Dem either.
Posted by: Mike | February 10, 2008 2:15 AM
I think the 21% of the vote Ron Paul won today in Washington answers part of your question -- we sure aren't going to back John McCain!
The Republican Party might want to rethink that one, too, since three-fourths of voters in Kansas and Washington apparently don't like him very much. The only states he has won a majority of the vote in are Connecticut, New Jersey, and New York, hardly Republican strongholds.
He only managed 48% in his own state! Talk about embarrassing.
As for Ron Paul's 1% in 1988, it's ancient history. He's received more votes than that already, in the primaries, where turnout is far lower. In the general election, he would have won about 10-15% this time around, most likely.
And if Ron Paul's supporters do go third party, they sure won't be "one percenters" anymore. He earned between 3 and 25 percent in the various states, beating each of the front-runners in at least 2 states.
Posted by: Doug D | February 10, 2008 2:55 AM
I will be writeing Ron Paul name in for President and will be voteing for the Constitutional and/or libertarian candidates down the ballot. Never again will i cast a vote for any neocon Republican. The best thing for the GOP is to crash and burn, so they can rebuilt a conservative party....... or go the way of the dodo bird.
Posted by: Randy | February 10, 2008 3:04 AM
I will not vote for Huck, McCain or the Dems. I will write in Ron Paul if I must. Voting on principle this year! But I will not leave the GOP that would be worse yet. Ron Paul is right to stay in the GOP and keep his Congressional seat!
Posted by: J Weich | February 10, 2008 3:33 AM
I will not vote for McCain or any other front-runner candidate. None represent my views, so a vote for them would be a wasted vote. I will write in Paul's name, or if I can't I will possibly vote for a third party candidate. I will not let my vote go to waste on corruption.

You successfully make terrible mistake in interpreting a letter. This must be the worst journalism I have ever witnessed. Congratulations, you just made Stephen Glass looks like Benjamin Franklin.
And for the Honorable Dr. Paul, his message will continue despite you blackout and total sinister lies to put him down.
Thank you for making the Revolution to be more essential to America by demonstrating how fascism can use journalism as a mask.
Ron Paul never quits, He said the brokered convention is NEARLY zero with Romney’s gone, he said he will win congress easy like every other year BUT he should use time and effort to serve his constituent to not neglect them in the midst of a presidential race. That people is integrity in using a reasonable effort to serve his constituent. Dr. Paul also informs the presidential race supporter about this congressional race. This people is integrity in doing some thing that might appear in competition with his primary activities, the presidential race, that he must disclose this upfront.
Go Ron Paul 2008!!
Posted by: Herbi Rihiratu | February 10, 2008 3:52 AM
Yep, Ron is quitting.
Nudge nudge, wink wink. ;)
The message of Freedom, is no longer worth mentioning.
I'm sure all my fellow Ron Paul supporters will forget all of this by next year.
We'll just happily pay our excessive taxes. Fight our expensive wars.
WRONG!
If Ron Paul is not on the ballot. I will write him in.

Ron Paul is here with us all the way. He's not going anywhere.
And there's no way I would ever consider voting for any of the other corrupt politicians who voted for the Patriot Act and the Real ID, which includes Obama and all the others.
RON PAUL ALL THE WAY
P.S. He just won Spokane, Washington by a LANDSLIDE

I just spent 30 years voting for Republicans. I'm finished with the Republicrats. I have seen the light! Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of the Establishment, I shall fear no evil. I hold the staff of Liberty high to light my way... anyway, those republicrats couldn't see the light of freedom if it hit them in the face. I'm history with them. I'll either write in RP, or vote Libertarian/Constitution Party. Though I think we should stick together and vote as a block so we can prove to the republicans that they lost because of us. It's a hard lesson that McCain is going to take into the political grave. HEY EVERYONE!!! WE GOTTA GET TOGETHER BEFORE THE ELECTION AND DECIDE WHERE WE ARE ALL GOING TO VOTE.
Posted by: Steve Grycel | February 10, 2008 5:04 AM
Paul has not dropped out and I have yet to had the chance to vote for him (Wisconsin)and neither has much of half the country. I've donated to Paul's congressional campaign but I will also support him all the way to the republican convention. If he doesn't get the nomination I will probably write him in at the general. I would shoot myself before voting for Mccain. If for some god awful reason it was McCain vs Obama and it looked to be too close to call I may pull the lever for Obama out of desperation. If it is McCain vs Hillary I will vote for any 3rd party that shows true anti-war status or the will to protect my civil liberties
Posted by: t os | February 10, 2008 5:08 AM
Republicans failed to earn my vote again! Although I have been a registered Republican for over 30 years (was an independent before that), I have not voted for a Republican since Reagan or a Democrat since McCarthy (I was young). As usual, I will find a 3rd party candidate who beleieves that America should be a republic governed by the rule of law and not a nation dominated by special interests that have placed themselves above the law. I daresay in doing so, that I will have voted better than 95% of my countrymen. It is a crying shame that American voters are so easily misled in choosing their leadership. This election does not bode well for America and one day we will look back and regret the day that we rejected Ron Paul and a new birth of freedom in this country.

McCain guarantees a Democratic president.
With McCain, Republicans are history.
My vote goes to Ron Paul all the way.

It amazes me how the voting public is unable to see the smarts and intelligence of Ron Paul and also unable to see the stupidity and same cliches of all others in the race. And these are the people wondering how George Bush managed to ruin this country in a short span of 8 years!!!
Until the voting public wakes up recognize its stupidity, you will continue to have morons in office and the whining will continue!..
Posted by: Baffled | February 10, 2008 9:01 AM
I have voted Liberterian for the last 3 - 4 elections. Dr. Paul got me back in to the Republican fold. He is a man of principle, not a whacko as the Halliburtan neo-cons like to portray. I am ashamed at the complete ignorance of Dr. Paul's message by the media in this country. A message of peace, freedom and sound economic policy is only whacko if you are looking to bankrupt this country further. Given the choice between smarmy McCain and Hillabama, I'll write in Ron. Start the campaign today... "WRITE IN RON!" Pass it along while there is still time to make an impact... for us, our kids and all future generations who will be left with a huge bill if we don't.
Posted by: Randy | February 10, 2008 9:27 AM
Interesting that Ron Paul has higher percentages in caucus states... could it be that when people are actually given the chance to talk about issues, they find his message of value? Too bad the media ignored him all along and dictated the outcome.

Posted by: paul | February 10, 2008 10:03 AM
If Dr. Paul is not on the ticket I will not vote Republican. I think the republican party is about to split. And I am frankly hoping for just such an outcome, the party no longer stands for the conservative ideals that once made it great. Our party has been taken over by the same one world government freaks that run this nation. And many of the worst come from our party, so it's time to either kick them out of our party or let them keep it and form a new conservative, constitutionally based party. I will never vote for McCain or his girlfriend Shillary, or their boy Obie.

Why did Romney say he was not going to let jihadists win? Now it becomes apparent that the RNC and DNC has pushed there own Statist socialist(ie communist) central government controlled government. The mainstream media is not covering election fraud now showing up in WV,LA, NH and now WA. IMHO Paul should run as an independent. The issue is the economy and Paul's Austrian vs Keynesianism will win no matter what..Free Markets rule.

I'd rather see health care available to citizens then wars fought without exhausting all other possibilities first.

I am a die hard Ron Paul supporter and If Ron Paul drops out Is something I have been seriously considering. If Ron Paul drops out it means our country is gonna be led by a member of the Council on foriegn relations so it really does not matter who we vote for . They will be the same as Bush and Cheney the former director of the Council on foreign relations. Then our nation will continue to move towards the North American Union with the new Amero, new constitution, and complete loss of soverienty. There is no point in voting for anyone other than Ron Paul. I would probably write in Mickey Mouse or something.

It doesn't look like he's left the building to me (from the official Ron Paul HQ blog):
This Candidate Doesn’t Quit
February 9th, 2008 by Dan McCarthy
A few news sources are misreporting Ron Paul’s e-mail from last night. The presidential campaign is not ending, not being suspended, and not even drawing down. It’s slimming down and ramping up — with over twenty states having already voted, we’ve shed staff, and we’re concentrating financial and organization resources on the remaining states. We’re going to the convention, and we’re fighting for every vote and every National Delegate along the way.
Republicans do not want John McCain to be their nominee. He has only been able to become the front-runner because the field was so divided and because he’s a media darling. We can see just how unpopular McCain is in the heartland by his performance in the Kansas caucuses today. Kansans resoundingly rejected the Arizona senator, and McCain’s big wins so far have mostly been in blue states — states he won’t win in November if, heaven forbid, he’s the Republican nominee.
Republicans want and need an alternative. Some people think Mike Huckabee provides an alternative to McCain. But Huckabee, who now tries to sound like Ron Paul when he talks about abolishing the IRS, raised taxes in Arkansas and vastly expanded spending in that state when he was its governor. Huckabee is no alternative at all. Ron Paul, on the other hand, has never voted for a tax increase, never voted for an unbalanced budget or for an unconstitutional war or government program.
At stake here is not just the Republican nomination — which McCain still has not locked up — but the future of the Republican Party and, much more importantly, the future of our liberties. We have to organize in every single state, including the ones that have already voted in the primaries and caucuses, to continue the fight to take back the Republican Party and to ensure that Ron Paul’s principles, the principles of Washington and Jefferson, prevail. For the sake of that cause, Ron Paul’s campaign continues, all the way to the convention.

Are you kidding me, vote for anybody other than RON PAUL! That is absurd! I, like many, will return to the Libertarian Party - where Liberty will continue to be on the ballot this November. Dr. Paul did a lot to grow this movement, but I've voted Libertarian my whole life, and will continue to do so. I only wish voting for a Libertarian and voting for Ron Paul could be the same vote - he's been my hero for a decade.
As for thinking we'll support John McCain, that's a joke right?

The United States of America as we know it is going under. As I use to debunk conspiracy theories and laugh at them it appears that most of them are actually true. The Media Bias and untruthfulness over the pass few years has opened my eyes to the true hidden agenda of the people which controls The USA. As a former employee in the Federal Government I can tell you we are, as a nation is going broke. The government knows about it and will continue to war, spend and borrow until we will eventually tuck tale and run from the Middle East. Welcome the North American Union because our dollar would not be worth 10 cents. Our currency will be the Amero. They know people will try to revolt but that is why there are certain measures that have been implemented to curb the uprising.
The USA PATRIOT Act. There are significant flaws in the Patriot Act, flaws that threaten your fundamental freedoms by giving the government the power to access to your medical records, tax records, information about the books you buy or borrow without probable cause, and the power to break into your home and conduct secret searches without telling you for weeks, months, or indefinitely.
MILITARY COMMISSIONS ACT
In the final hours before adjourning last year, Congress passed and the president signed the Military Commissions Act (MCA). In doing so, they cast aside the Constitution and the principle of habeas corpus, which protects against unlawful and indefinite imprisonment. They also gave the president absolute power to designate enemy combatants, and to set his own definitions for torture.
The Real ID Act of 2005 would turn our state driver’s licenses into a genuine national identity card and impose numerous new burdens on taxpayers, citizens, immigrants, and state governments – while doing nothing to protect against terrorism. As a result, it is stirring intense opposition from many groups across the political spectrum.
America is already brain washed by the Mass Media and the Education System. The unconstitutional taxation will never stop because we are a contributors to the National Debt.
IF you think this is a theory just do some research on your own.
Also don't worry about China. There is plans to eliminate their population as we have already run biological test weapons against them (SARS, AVIAN FLU) and is ready at any moment to wipe out 3/4 of their population.
All this fuss about politics is all a deception. 70% of the country is against the war and yet still all the candidates the Media promotes is for the war, spending, taxing the United Slaves of America.
WHO IS IN CONTROL?
Not the People(Sheep)
Welcome to the New World Order. It is on your Money.
ASK ME A QUESTION AND WILL ANSWER!

I will be writing in the name of Ron Paul on my absentee ballot this year. I encourage all others to do the same. A vote for any of the MSM candidates is a wasted vote. Get out of the wars and get back to Constitutional principles. Get habeas corpus back, end the Bush pre-emptive war doctrine, and re-open the 9/11 Commission!

I'm not voting for anybody this year but RON PAUL. I worked for Bush in 2000. What a mistake! Never again will I vote someone who waves the flag and regrettably the cross and then starts a war and spends money like a drunken sailor. The Republicans are not republicans, they are people who make up their own reallity as they go along. Wake up!

Whoever said Paul supporters will go to Obama needs to review Paul's platform. Obama is just another anti-Liberty, big government candidate with corporate entanglements who wants to further tax, further regulate, and disarm the American people. Hillary is the same, but worse. McCain is the closest thing to another Bush. Ron Paul is the true candidate for change in Washington, and the only candidate with any understanding of liberty. It is highly troubling and downright depressing that the American people have chosen to vote for less liberty and more government yet again. I will write Paul's name in. He is the only candidate that agrees with me on the issues, and the ONLY candidate in a LONG, LONG TIME, who understands that the role of the federal government must be restricted to PROTECTING LIBERTY.
Keep your powder dry.
The Revolution must continue.

The GOP is dead. Long live the GOP.
In only 8 short years, the GOP turned its back on its principles. Ron Paul, the guy who runs on the Bush 2000 campaign's foreign policy is considered a "kook". The terrorists changed us; they won and freedom lost.
McCain will lose to the socialists in November. I always had hope that if a righteous man ran for president, people would see through the media's lies and the petty politics and vote for him. With Ron Paul on the way out, that hope is gone and there is nothing left.
Posted by: Orual | February 10, 2008 1:31 PM
I cannot believe what I'm hearing. Some of you people are ready to quit off pure SPECULATION! You're "sellouts" with no spine and you never had the heart to be a rEVOLutionist to begin with! Ron Paul never said he was dropping out of the race, and if you truly knew him, you know he is as straight talk as it gets.
Dr. Paul says, "In the presidential race and the congressional race, I need your support, as always. And I have plans to continue fighting for our ideas in politics and education that I will share with you when I can, for I will need you at my side." He also says, "that does not affect my determination to fight on, in every caucus and primary remaining, and at the convention for our ideas, with just as many delegates as I can get." Sounds like he's still running to me! He's still fighting for us, so we should still be fighting for him.
We need more PRECINCT LEADERS, MORE DELEGATES(hint hint)and another MONEY BOMB! He just raised over $300,000 today, and me and my girlfriend are going to donate $300 each on Friday. Who else will protect our Constitutional Rights? No other candidate talks about it, because no other candidate will. This misleading article is really meant to sort out the strong from the weak. It was misrepresented in order that you lose hope in him, to give that vote to the "lesser evil", and most importantly discourage you from being active. TO SILENCE YOU....
If you really believe in his message, sign up to a meet up group, run for public office or city council, create petitions to repeal the Patriot Act and the "Marc Card", become an activist, protest and join rallies...Now that's rEVOLutinary!!!!

Mark...
It is staggering to me how little the MSM including the Baltimore Sun actually knows about Ron Paul and the people who support him. If the American public had free access to his message, like the people on the internet do, he would win by a landslide. Why do you think out of 130,000 people signed up to volunteer in meetups to support candidates, 100,000 of them are signed up to support RP? Because they have taken the time on line to see what his real message is, and they know that the "make people happy soundbytes" of the other candidates and promoted by the media are not only uninformed, but dangerous to the well being of the country. Too bad you didn't take the time to research this man on line, because probability shows that ifyou did, he might have had some fair chance with the media and to do some things this country desperately needs. Unfortunately, because of your well meaning yet uninformed ignorance, you only manage to say sensationalistic things that do not add real value to helping people make a good decision on who they need to vote for in order to address the challenges this country faces.
Could it be that the wisdom of the press to help america make good election decisions left the building... a long time ago.

You don't have to give up. The delegates can still move the race toward Paul. If not, those of you with write-in options should use them. But we know that the elections are rigged, how else can someone raise more money than anyone in history in one day and not have shown higher vote totals than Paul has?
Posted by: bob | February 10, 2008 1:56 PM
I have always been a Republican. I support Ron Paul, who will bring some delegates to a convention that this morning seems less sure to be so straight up. We may see a brokered Republican Convention after all. Ron Paul's delegates are leverage and perhaps a VP spot with Huckabee. That would put Paul in control of the Senate and secure his supporters' votes along with the many people who genuinely like Huckabee. We can't forsee the future. We know though that John McCain is only winning in Democrat states that he won't carry in the general election. In the general election, if Ron Paul is out, I will abandon the party that ignored a large and vocal faction by giving their candidate no party support. I would vote for Obama, and the 6 other voters in my family agree. If Ron Paul is not on the ticket, and if he won't run independent, we will give the media what they wished for, Obama for president, and see how they like it. I don't think he would be a BAD president, just ineffective, without a mandate, and honestly, if we can't have the only COMPETENT individual in the race, a do-nothing would be far better. But, I may just write in Ron Paul as a message to the Republican Party. You don't have my vote unless you are REAL Republicans. The Republican Party is dead because they have ignored their own constituents, who didn't want Romney and certainly don't want McCain. Vote Ron Paul.

The hell with the democrat or republican party. I vote for the a person who shares my view, and honors the Constituion. A person who votes strictly along party lines, has rocks in their head. If Homer Simpson was the only canidate left in their party, they would vote Homer. This is supposed to be a Goverment of THE PEOPLE AND BY THE PEOPLE. You tell me if 70% of the American population want us out of this war, What the hell we still doing there. I would like to pass a bill if I could that says that the other 30% that still want this war will have their taxes doubled or tripled, what ever it takes to pay for it. And for the few that still believe this war is about Democracy for the deomcracy are dillusional. Remember the pretext to this war was WMD'S. This war is no different then Vietnam. Lets just drag it out as long as possible so KBR and companies can profit from it as long as possible,(say a hundred years). So to make a long story short, you minority that are still for this war for whatever pretext you wanna dream up PLEASE leave the country. Your just dragging the rest of us down.

Get it now? We won't vote for McCain or Huck, or Hillary. A very few will go Obama (not me). Most will vote 3rd party (Libertarian or Constitution), or write in Ron Paul anyway (probably where I'll end up), or just sit it out.

My Friends and patriots Just remember its not over until its over. Vote for Ron Paul on the bottom line. Oh Yea and GOD hasn't voted yet. PRAY!!!!and PRAY and PRAY to the one GOD who created all things.

Ron Paul is my man until the end.
All the other candidates are lame with John McCain being the lamest, because he is a Democrat running as a Republican. At least Hillary and Obama let you know what they are (socialists). John McCain doesn't have the integrity or honor to admit what he is.
But then again, did he ever have integrity? Here is a man that lied about his experience in the war and was drunk through most of his military days. He leaves a disabled wife for a drug addict 18 years his junior, and has continued to deceive and lie his way through life.
The next president will be a BAGHOLDER for Bush's failed presidency. So, keeping that in mind, I hope Hillary or Obama wins - which one doesn't matter. This president will be blamed for the inevitable economic collapse of this Country.
For 2012, a Ron Paul platform is run again and this candidate wins by a landslide, as people finally wake up to the fact that Ron Paul was right all along.
History will be very kind to Ron Paul.

A REAL RON PAUL SUPPORTER KNOWS THERE IS NO SUBSTITUTE FOR RON PAUL. VOTE RON PAUL.

The Elections are a FRAUD! But hey we knew that from 2000 and 2004 when the Bush stole the elections. Let's see here in the 2008 primaries we have PROOF of "Voting Inconsistancies" Like 109% voter turnout in Broward county, FL??? How does one account for 109% turnout??? We have RECOUNTS happening in NH! We have Poll workers crossing out and closing out votes for Dr. Paul in NJ & NY. We have ballots NOT being counted in CA. We have Diebold machines breaking down ALL OVER the Country. We have AP in WA reporting results from primary elections which dont even happen till 2-19-08! Caucus results for WA where Dr. Paul Did VERY WELL have NOT been REported; but yet the Dems voting is over with and supposedly McShame won WA??? WTF???
Will Mcshame, Obbbamma or Heil Clinter EVER get my Vote??? Cold Day in HELL!
DR PAUL Rep nom, Dr. Paul write in or 3rd party for me in the GE!

I am a life-long Republican. I cannot in good conscience vote for anyone other than Ron Paul. If he is not the nominee, I will write him in.
Posted by: Laura | February 10, 2008 4:11 PM
The media once again has everyone so focused on the general election and the race for the presidency that nobody sees the real source of power in government. It's in the House of Representatives. A strong following under Ron Paul the Congressman will have a greater impact than if he were president. Ron Paul will continue to build support right up to the Republican convention. With an army of support the Ron Paul Revolutionaries will be strategicly located in every congressional district waiting to pounce on their congressional representative voting on the liberal bills pending a vote. Plus we will beat down the doors of our reps to pass constitutional legislation. The Ron Paul Revolution watchdogs will be fighting for liberty and freedom while the rest of the country goes back to sleep in front of the boob tube.
The Revolution lives on!
RON PAUL (the man) IS A COURAGEOUS PATRIOT!
RON PAUL (the message) IS AN AMERICAN REVOLUTION!
WE WILL TAKE AMERICA BACK!

Ron Paul pumps through my veins. He picked up a banner which united a massive number of people - who feel something is wrong with this country - and we want change, REAL change. Not this generic Barack Obama change that shuffles the chess pieces around on the board. We want Ron Paul change where we reset the pieces on the board and get rid of a whole bunch of other crap that's been put on there for the last 80 years (stuff that we just don't need to have).
As many other comments have already said, I will not support McCain. I fully plan on scribbling Ron's name in on the ballot in November. My vote is important to me and I will only use it to vote for a candidate who I support.

Mark, get your facts straight you mouth breather.
He is not quiting or leaving the race.

No. Let's vote for Hillary and give the people and the media what they deserve. A crash of the $ and a bankrupt country. Why drag this out. In the end the people who will be fooled again will definitely get the government they deserve.
Posted by: mrpom | February 10, 2008 6:11 PM
I seldom vote republican but Dr. Paul's ideas drew me years ago, so when he ran, I supported him. I already voted absentee in the Chesapeake primary, and am disappointed at the lack of his ads here.
Nevertheless, wasting a vote on another candidate would ratify the CFR, NAU, Fed tarnishing of the dollar, the military- and medical- industrial complices, and rule by corporate will rather than of by and for the people.
I plan to be part of what may be a record-breaking write-in vote this November for Dr. Paul, who cured my military-industrial complex.
Posted by: purple | February 10, 2008 7:32 PM
I will vote for ROn Paul come hell or high water. If he is not a nominee for any party, I'll write him in, simple as that.
I simply REFUSE to tell the Republican Party, by way of my vote, that nominating McCain in ANY WAY represents me or my conservative views.

Writing in Ron Paul in Nov if i have to.
Posted by: roman | February 10, 2008 8:11 PM
Ill write Pauls name in before I vote for McCain.
Ill write a dead mans name in before I vote for that scumbag.
Posted by: ralphie | February 10, 2008 9:04 PM
McCain wants to put a machine gun in my daughters hands and tell her to kill people. If thats what the gop's idea of freedom is I dont want anything to do with it. This country and constitution is over if Ron is not elected. Better start taking spanish classes
because were about to get a wave of 80 million. Both the GOP & DNC are selling our country right out from under our feet and their laughing all the way to the bank. I wouldn't vote for anyone but Ron & I will write him in and continue to fight to restore law to all branches of government
Posted by: Rich | February 10, 2008 9:26 PM
Ah, don't you wish Ron Paul was out of the race? Well, of course, if you have some luck, perhaps McCain and Lieberman (the Bombsey twins) will be in the White House just in time to bomb Iran early next year!
Posted by: L.Step | February 10, 2008 9:39 PM
McCain, the son of Cain, will never gain a vote from a Paul supporter. Only the drunk idiot would bet on that one. How' bout this.. we will vote for one that loves the U.S. Constitution. Surely you remember that rag..
Posted by: wm harrison | February 10, 2008 10:37 PM
What? Vote for McCain, are you kidding me? He is not a conservative, that is pretty clear. He is a war hawk and only seeks to further bankrupt America.
He is probably a little upset that "we" left him over in Vietnam for five years, this will be our payback. Ron Paul is the only true conservative Republican in this race, the rest are a bunch of phony pandering pimps, pimping you and me.
Posted by: Pat Faith | February 10, 2008 10:39 PM
I will not be voting for John "leave the soldiers behind" McCain, he is a warmonger. Neither will i be voting for Obama, he talks alot that's about it. His stance on the war is not the same as Dr. Paul's. Obama says he will only remove COMBAT TROOPS from the region, leaving many other forces in to protect the numerous bases and huge Embassy we're building. Ron Paul or nobody else, i will not sacrifice my principles to serve ideas i do not believe in.
Posted by: Robert S Ludlum | February 10, 2008 10:41 PM
Let's hear it for the write in vote! I've got three lined up and two Huckabee supporters I haven't got to yet. He is always bitching about the NWO so I'm confident of an easy sell.
Posted by: steven montross | February 10, 2008 10:47 PM
Paul's antiwar stance was never a big draw for me. I liked his views on personal liberties and reducing the scope and size of government.
I've never voted for a Democrat and I never will. Socialism and libertarianism are like oil and water.
Never, never, never will I vote for Obama or Clinton. No real Paul supporter should.
I admire McCain's personal courage, but I cannot forgive him for supporting illegal immigration. I also don't see how he would patch up our terrible national image abroad. If anything, McCain will be more belligerent than Bush.
I will write in Paul's name on the ballot come November. I voted for Bush twice in the last elections, but I'm done with voting for the lesser of two evils.
As for the GOP, when there appears to be a place in the "big tent" for a small-government, less-spending, pro-individual rights conservative like me, I'll be happy to be Republican again.
Posted by: J Cline | February 10, 2008 11:14 PM
The Republican party is finished...go ahead and declare Obama or Clinton as the next President of the United States. While I will not vote for either of them, I will most certainly not vote for McCain...I will write in the name of the candidate of my choice, RON PAUL, as I am sure most supporters of Dr Paul will also do!
Posted by: will | February 11, 2008 12:23 AM
We are all going to move to the Freer State of Wyoming, and no we're not voting for McCain.
If I can't vote for Paul, then I plan to vote Libertarian, that is, if my government would just allow them back on the ballot in NC. Freedom? What freedom?
Posted by: ladyliberty | February 11, 2008 12:25 AM
I'll tell you where I'll go. Nowhere. I have no viable candidate now that it's painfully obvious that the revolution has gone nowhere. I have no one to vote for. This sucks.
Posted by: Michael J. Thies | February 11, 2008 12:34 AM
I will either write Ron Paul's name in or choose Obama.
Posted by: Kathie | February 11, 2008 1:05 AM
I live in a Mormon town and I am not Mormon. They all voted for Mitt. -Paul on 2/9
Nonsense. I'm deep in Utah Valley, and I know more than a few voters who are very staunch "Mormons" (including myself), who decisively voted for Ron Paul. Mitt may have got the bulk of the vote around here, but not "all" of any group will vote according to prejudices.
Posted by: Tesh | February 11, 2008 2:03 AM
Man is not the enemy of man but through the medium of a false system of government.
We will vote for the constitution and test our voting system... who trusts the electronic voting anyway... we will write in the best candidate for president... a republican candidate... Congressman soon to be President Dr. Ron Paul. We don't need your commercial media and hidden interests to tell us that Freedom is popular and that it works. Issues, not popularity and polling ought to be the discussion and the debate. Shame on you for calling yourselves the free press. Your bought and sold by special interests!

Ron Paul hasn't dropped out. He is a true fiscal conservative and runs a 0 debt campaign he is just keeping within his budget.
More money is coming his way soon.

As a Ron Paul supporter I refuse to vote for McCain, a warmongering big government guy who may well seal the deal for facism in our Country. If I can I will write in Ron Paul as an independent or I will vote Libertarian or Constitutionalist. Protest vote for certain.
Posted by: The Clous | February 11, 2008 4:10 AM
I ,a Ron Paul supporter, will vote for Ron Paul even if I have to write his name in.
Posted by: khart39chip | February 11, 2008 6:23 AM
As a Republican of 23 years, I can assure you that I will NOT vote for McCain, Huckabee, or Romney should he reappear. I'm tired of just voting "against" somebody... and this year I have someone I can vote FOR...RON PAUL. He's the man who needs to be in the White House and who needs to be the new Commander in Chief for our troops.
Posted by: KBL | February 11, 2008 7:16 AM
Ron Paul has NOT "left the building." It is a real shame that you have jumped on the bandwagon of spreading LIES about Ron Paul. Perhaps you should change the name of your "news" paper to PRAVDA!
Posted by: Douglas | February 11, 2008 9:00 AM
I will write in Ron Paul in November. This just shows how stupid you "reporters" are! Anyone who belives in smaller government and keeping the government out of our lives Mc Cain is the last person in the Republican Party anyone would vote for. His own website says we need more troops which means bringing back the draft and more spending on military equipment. His idea on tax cuts for businesses is to reward his military contractor and oil cartel friends since they will be the only companies left in this country that can make a profit. What a joke this article and Mc Cain are! By the way, since he loves wearing his military record on his sleeve, let's open up McCain's war record that he has so successfully sealed - check out VietNam Vets Against McCain.

Just another Republican Ron Paul supporter saying I would NEVER EVER vote for McCain. If it's Hillary v. McCain, I will write Ron Paul's name in. If it's Obama v. McCain, I might think of voting for Obama.
Posted by: patty | February 11, 2008 10:03 AM
As a republican No I will NOT vote for McCain period. An endorsement from President Bush today was very bad for McCain. A vote for McCain is a vote for 4 more years of what Bush has already given us. I will continue to vote & support more people like Dr. Paul into every state and federal office I can. I hope that many of my fellow americans will do the same.

I will never vote for McCain and as this is going to be my first time voting in WI, I'm 19, I'm voting for Ron Paul no matter what!! How can McCain even call himself a conservative? I have a feeling that many people are so disgusted with the war, that they will vote for Obama to get us out. Ron Paul's message is the only hope for America and he's Amerca's hero!

I've been a conservative as long as I can remember. I worked on helping Bush get elected both times in my precinct, city, county etc. I have the thank you letter framed in my living room.
Somwhere along the way I got sick and tired of being lied to and having more and more of our civil liberties taken away from us. I've gotten sick and tired of the constitution getting ransacked. I've gotten tired of seeing my sister go to Iraq, Kuwait etc. She leaves again on Tuesday for her 4th tour of duty in the same area.
Needless to say I'm fed up with the GOP. If Dr. Paul is not our nominee and John McCain is the only choice I have as a republican, I WILL THROW MY VOTE TO WHOEVER THE DEMOCRATIC NOMINEE IS TO SHOW THE GOP MY DISSATISFACTION FOR THEIR MALICE TOWARDS DR. PAUL AND THE ABANDONMENT OF TRUE CONSERVATISM THAT THE GOP USED TO STAND FOR.
