Ron Paul, Romney refugees: Anyone but McCain?: The Swamp

The Swamp

by Mark Silva and updated with reader comments

This is the winter of discontent for a lot of voters, particularly conservative Republicans, who are watching their party rally around a candidate they cannot accept.

For Sen. John McCain, the alienation of many conservatives for many reasons -- including anti-war Republicans who had rallied to Texas Rep. Ron Paul's opposition to the war, and remain concerned about McCain's commitment to the war -- the challenge will become reaching into the middle of the American voters' hearts and pulling enough moderate Republicans, independent voters and swing-voting Democrats to offset his anemic base of conservative Republican support. Surely many of those disaffected will vote in November, but perhaps for a third-party candidate. Or perhaps many will simply sit it out.

The problem for McCain remains those anti-war Republicans and those Republicans carting signs around the halls of the Conservative Action Political Convention in Washington this weekend: "McCain=Amnesty.'' The combined albatross of immigration reform and the war represents a lot of baggage to carry into a general election in November in which Democrats will seek a renewed commitment to immigration reform and promises of ending the war.

Even after Republican Mitt Romney had dropped out of the race this week, people assembled for the CPAC continued voting for him in the straw-poll conducted there. Three-quarters of the straw-poll ballots were cast after Romney's announcement at the convention, according to CPAC. And, among all 1,558 ballots cast, 34 percent were cast for Romney, 33 percent for McCain, 12 percent for Mike Huckabee and 12 percent for Ron Paul.

Before Romney's withdrawal, 44 percent of the straw ballots cast at the convention were going his way. After his withdrawal, 32 percent still were going his way. So much for McCain's appeal to a convention that he had skipped last year, with apologies for his absence.

There are a lot of voters out there like "Don,'' who weighed in at the Swamp this morning on the question of where voters will go once Ron Paul is out of the race:

"The MSM can embrace McCain now, but the victory will be as ashes in their mouths,'' writes Don. "Now they will trot out the folks from the conservative PR firm hired by McCain in order to tell us, if effect, that our choices now are "his way or the highway". No thanks. I will vote 3rd party or stay home before being a party to sacrificing more lives to ill-advised foreign military adventures.''

Or try this contribution tonight, from the reader signed, Idaho:

"Rejected to-do list:

-- Lick a railroad track when its 20 below.

-- Shoot my foot with a 45.

-- Relieve myself on an electric fence.

-- Stick my head under a running lawn mower

-- Vote for McCain.''

This commentary is a little more reasonable than yesterday's 'Swamp Thing' - inwhich it was suggested that Paul supporters might consider McCain. That was not purely poor punditry, but out right lying.

TJ
You are right.

The republican party has basically rejected the new blood they were offered.

As a Ron Paul supporter, mark my words. We will now be divided into two camps:
1. Those who leave the party as quickly as we came.
2. Those who stay to try to bring the party back to its conservative roots.

There is only one thing that will hold universally true: We will not vote for McCain. We are 6-10% of the republican party. McCain will have the biggest loss in politicaly history in November.

John McCain isn't even eligible to be president because he is a Panamanian and not an American by birth. The constitution is very specific on that, you must be an American by birth and not naturalization. It does not matter if it is a territory, a Panamanian or Puerto Rican cannot be president. Why the Paul, Huckabee and Romney campaigns have not litigated to remove McCain and his delegates shows that they are not necessarily up to the job either.

Ron Paul is the only candidate in either party who represents real change. He is a true conservative and, as such, he is a true Republican. McCain is a flip-flop pro-war, pro-corporation, pro-establishment pro-Bush, pro-corrupt Washington, pro more-of-the-same-as-the-last-eight years. Huckabee looks likeable but he has no teeth. Only Ron Paul can debate Hillary or Obama and win it. Common sense: if it's not Ron Paul as the Rep. nominee--a departure from the Bush administration who would sway many democrats--the Democrats will steamroll an win by a landslide.

I have been a Republican all my life and I support Ron Paul. I would rather vote third party than support John McCain. I will never vote for McCain. How sad that the choice we face is a tax and spend socialist or a borrow and spend fascist.

The MSM has won the battle for the minds of the TV addicts who have rejected freedom and preferred servitude instead. It will now be business as usual with increasing debt and dollar devaluation. The Nation loses. I will be writing in Dr. Paul for President and moving my FRN's into hard assets.

If it weren't for McCain's unstable disposition, his disingenuous flip flopping and his foreign as well as his domestic policies, he would be great!

Ron Paul IS still in the race!! Why should his supporters go ANYWHERE????
We plan to continue to educate people, and let them know about freedom!!!!!!

Wave bye bye to the Grand Old Party as it rides off into the sunset.

I didn't read your post yesterday... I hope you were being ironic... one of the reasons I will vote for Ron Paul is I'm frightened of what will happen if he and his one time liberal Democratic, Independent, now "conservative" Republican pal, that "On to Iran" creep,Lieberman take over the White House. Then, prepare for another unwanted and unconstitutional war and the further endless sinking of our blood and treasure into that stinking religious cesspool in and around Israel. Where do these crazies come from? How come a registered Republican like myself is given, by the G.O.P., the disgusting choice between a Mad Bomber or a Nanny State Preacher? I'll vote Ron Paul. Let the Cheney neocon Republicans lose the race -- but good. The Ron Paul people might lose as well, but at least they will not have abandoned their honor supporting a fraudulent neoconned Republicanism.

I see some disturbing comments; it seems as though the Ron Paul supporters believe he has dropped out; Dr Paul has not left the race according to his Campaign HQ sight. Anyone wanting further information should go to his websight and click on the Daily Dose link found on the right hand side. His email has been misreported!

viva la Revolution!

The big problem anti-war republicans like myself will have in November is this: Voting third party, or not voting at all will more than likely give the Dems the nod. However, Obama and Clinton are not anti war like they say most of the time. Neither would even commit to having our troops out of Iraq by the end of their first term, 2013.

The only anti-war candidate in the race from both parties is Ron Paul.

He is speaking out on so many things this nation must change, the size of government, over-regulation, the military industry, big pharma, over taxation, etc...but the media is throwing McCain down our throats.

Let's get some Ron Paul coverage, real coverage, and let the people speak.

I am a Ron Paul Republican, I only joined the party because of Ron Paul. Perhaps this is good for the party, lines will finally be drawn, and the hard-core conservatives will have their party back and the nominal conservatives, (like McCain) will have to run on a third party ticket. I don't know why the GOP didn't rally behind Ron Paul, he is the only candidate that really loves America!!

We should have a 4 million man, woman, and children march at Washington DC for Mitt. Rush Limbaugh and other conservative talk radio hosts should organize this. The libs have stolen the nomination of our conservative candidate with their bias polling numbers and analysis. McCain will not be elected because we will not vote for him. and his indepedent supporters will vote Obama. Obama looks to be the next president of the united states. there will be dangerous consequences. I'm sure of it. conservatives will not have a voice in washington. so lets organize this thing. "we want Mitt!" We want Mitt!!"

Party shmarty! I vote on principles, and as principles go, there is very little difference between McCain and Clinton or Obama. If either party think they have a lock on the growing movement of anti-war, anti big government folks who put tens of millions in dollars and untold man-hours in to the Ron Paul campaign, they must have smoked too much opium with Chairman Mao.

I've had it with both parties, but more than that, I've had it with MSM hacks who think they can lead people around like sheep. As every prediction Ron Paul has made about our economy and our foreign policy come true, more will join our ranks.

We are ahead of the curve, but that curve is coming up fast.

Newsflash: Ron Paul is still in the race, and he got 21% in Washington.

Gee, why did John McCain make so many enemies? Maybe it is from joking about bombing Iran. Or maybe it is from snide little comments, like at the debate before the forum that Ron Paul was left out of, where he said on the stage, "We'll miss you tomorrow." to Ron Paul. Do you think we didn't hear you John? At the next debate, he snidely said, "We missed you." to Ron Paul, rubbing salt into the wound of being unfairly excluded from the Fox Forum.

McCain is an angry, petty old man. I am a Ron Paul supporter and delegate in my state. I will NEVER vote for John McCain. In fact, I will vote for either Clinton or Obama against him.

I am a lifelong Republican and Ron Paul supporter. If McCain wins the nomination, I will leave and join the libertarian party. There will be nothing left for me in the GOP.

The person calling themselves RON PAUL FOR PRESIDENT knows more than the combined campaigns of all McCain's opponents, yet still failed to provide any references for their interesting claims.

Come on, if you're going to make claims that sound like conspiracy theories to the uneducated, then please provide the education to go with it, or at least a link to some evidence.

It might be better to ask, "Is it legal for someone born in any territory that is not a state to become President?" or even, "Why didn't someone whose father and grandfather were USN Admirals become an admiral himself?" or even more interesting, "Why did a former POW stand against the search for POW/MIA's who might still be there?"

"but the victory will be as ashes in their mouths"

ooo! Tell Don I love him, will ya?

Revolution

I will write in Ron Paul, if he is not on the ballot, what sane person would vote for any of the other offerings? Americans are waking up, unfortunately, the majority remain in a deep state of denial. When I read (other articles) that the Anti-war conservatives of the republican party were lending support to McCain I got a very clear, very disturbing, picture of just how blinded our citizens are. To consider McCain anti-war, to think he would be best to get our troops out of Iraq is absurd. The idea that America has a government of the people, by the people and for the people is also absurd. We have an elitist government (fascism) appointed by corporate lobbyist working for entities that are owned by major financial institutions. Americans are massively programmed by the MSM, and function from within an illusory state, almost oblivious to reality. The only people who are not, are viewed as fringe, ..I am reminded of "only the insane are sane in an insane world".

WASHINGTON - John McCain is a "true conservative," President Bush says, although the presumptive Republican presidential nominee may have to work harder to convince other conservatives that he is one of their own.

From the lips of a man who has just spent 5 trillion dollars that we didn't have! With a Repugnant Congress I might add!!!!!

Spin away "Conservatives" !!!!!!

I will vote for almost anyone or anything other than McCain. If left with Hillary and McCain, I will wish the country well and give a middle finger to the idiots who voted them on the ballot, and I will take no part in the general election. Damn the ignorant masses and/or damn the people who think things are fine the way they are going.

As usual, the DNC Swamp reporter makes the tiny Ron Paul clique appear to be bigger than it really is.

In fact, the truth of the matter is exactly the opposite of what Mr. Silva seems to say. For most conservatives, McCain's pro-victory stance on Iraq is the main reason to vote FOR him, not against him. Maybe some of Ron Paul's tiny following back the Democrats in Congress and in the media in their surrender plans, but most mainstream conservatives don't.

Conservatives oppose not McCain himself but the positions he's taken and the bills he's sponsored, notably the McCain-sponsored illegal immigration amnesty bill.

Mr. Silva should, for once in his lifetime, talk to mainstream anti-McCain Republicans. For example, the 75% of Washington Republicans who, in the caucus last night, refused to vote for McCain even though they know McCain's going to win the nomination.

Oh wow, I was suprised to see that Fox News is finally reporting something about Ron Paul. I guess the media blackout and is finally over. Everyone in the media can finally come out from their hiding places and finally say the words "Ron Paul" now that there is no chance for him to win the Republican Nomination.
I'm not sure how the most popular Presidential Candidate can be so high on the Polls and yet receive so few votes. All this really proves to me is that there is a good chance that the voting is rigged. Especially the electronic voting, which has no real QA process to prove it's accuracy and no one challenge it's accuracy.
If you think that the media is not controlled by the elite than the media blackout of Ron Paul should help you to wake up and smell the coffee. The treatment that Ron Paul received by the journalists on several networks appeared to me as extremely biased not to mention outright rude. It's not real journalism, it's entertainment mixed in with propaganda to push the elite agenda.
Did you see how Rudy dropped out and endorsed McCain? Did you see how Romney dropped out because he said he wanted to unite the Republicans? I suspect Mccain was knighted.

I'm a Mexican illegal immigrant, living and working here in USA.

I want John McCain to be the President of America because he like people like me and he let me stay here forever and he let me bring my family here from Mexico City.

I add my name to the list of people that will never vote for Johnny McWar. Anyone who thinks Ron Paul supporters will defect to the McCain camp does not understand what makes Ron Paul so different.

McCain is not a real conservative, and Huckabee is a theocrat. Neither choice is acceptable to real Republicans.

It can't be a good day for McCain today, after three-fourths of the party voted against him in Kansas and Washington yesterday.

Re: Ron Paul for President's comment.

While it is true that John McCain was not born in the continental United States, he was born on US base in Panama. United States jurisdiction extends to all it's government offices and bases. Technically, John McCain was born on United States land.

Ron Paul is not out of the race. He won Louisiana in delegates. He just won WA state with the most delegates which is what counts.

He will go on to win more states.
Mitt's people are coming over to us and neither Mitt's or Ron's supporters can accept McCain.

I will never again settle for the lesser of 2 evils. My vote is for Ron Paul come hell, high water or writing his name on the empty line. And I am a Republican who voted for Bush twice. McCain is quite literally out in the left field

The GOP leadership obviously decided that they would rather lose the general election than give the nomination to the honorable Dr. Paul. He clearly defies the conventional wisdom when the polls were showing 5% and here he is pulling in 10-20% of the vote consistently and this is with the media working against him.

As a person who would be willing to join the GOP if people were honest, principled and not war mongers, I proudly will join the Libertarian party and write in Dr. Paul's name this November. I would have welcomed the GOP if it could roundly reject Bush and the neocons.

Wake up people!

@ ronpaulforpresident

unfortunatley if he was born on an american base he can be called a native

Of the 3-4 issues Bush pushed the hardest McCain is a carbon copy (if not worse). War, War, War, Tax cuts for the rich, Privatization of social security, Immigration.

Does McCain differ on any of these issues from Bush? Not that I am aware of.

I'm a Romney voter and I'll actually be writing in Romney's name even though he's not an active nominee any longer. McCain is too dirty for me. I don't like my democratic socialist choices and Huckabee and Ron Paul are unacceptable choices.

Write-in Romney campaign would help the GOP to remember what happened the last time they tried to shove a candidate down our throats-Bill Clinton became president. McCain can't win in any event, no one under thirty will vote for a 71-year old stubborn man. I sure won't. I'm a stubborn conservative Republican.

Heh. Has anyone else noticed that most of the above commentary was written all by the same person. It is inventive of the Ron Paul supporters to try and make their numbers seem larger by spamming all of the commentary threads in articles with their template rhetoric, but I just thought I would let everyone else know that most of that above was written by one, maybe two people (just look at the difference in post times and it becomes pretty obvious).

Mitt should restart his campaign when the convention starts. Huck will have shown the world that McCain doesn't represent the GOP conservatives. Mitt can be the Third Party, or compromise canidate. GO Mitt.

[The Second Amendment protects an individual right to keep and bear arms. That right existed prior to the formation of the new government under the Constitution and was premised on the private use of arms for activities such as hunting and self-defense, the latter being understood as resistance to either private lawlessness or the depredations of a TYRANNICAL GOVERNMENT (or a threat from abroad). In addition, the right to keep and bear arms had the important and salutary civic purpose of helping to preserve the citizen militia. The civic purpose was also a political expedient for the Federalists in the First Congress as it served, in part, to placate their Antifederalist opponents. The individual right facilitated militia service by ensuring that citizens would not be barred from keeping the arms they would need when called forth for militia duty. Despite the importance of the Second Amendment’s civic purpose, however, the activities it protects are not limited to militia service, nor is an individual’s enjoyment of the right contingent upon his or her continued or intermittent enrollment in the militia.

I see McCain as a very sick man that should not be allowed to have his finger on the nuk button.

I am SO GLAD to see the language of Paul supporters in the sense that they WILL NOT vote for McCain. What the media is forgetting is that the typical rule does not apply to Ron Paul. Where those who would vote for Romney, McCain, or Huckabee could more easily slide their vote over, the Ron Paul supporters have a fervor for his message and are not likely to give up on their message and the freedoms their message attempts to protect. They will be more comfortable voting for a democrat or a third-party candidate. I think the one thing that IS CLEAR is that McCain WILL LOSE TO EITHER ONE OF THE DEMOCRATS. The Republican party has shot itself in the foot by treating Paul as a whacky old man who believes in antiquated ideas. The truth is he relies on the wisdom of those who had experienced governmental oppression to form his ideas; where the neocons' ideas are formulated by special interests, lobbyists, bundlers, and more generally: $$$$$$. Ron Paul is guided by PRINCIPLE and LOGIC. What a crazy guy!

Conservatives are beginning to amaze me in their inability to see what's really at stake here. This election is about more than McCain and his inability to follow conservative principals.

How is handing the whole country over to far left liberals a suitable alternative to McCain?

There is a serious difference between McCain and a purebread liberal who is bent on destroying ALL conservative values permanantly.

Today’s liberal is not like the Bill Clinton’s Presidency. It’s moved radically left... Clinton is now considered a moderated, and loosing it’s power because it’s not radically liberal enough.

The Democratic candidate that is surging now, Obama, is bottom of the barrel liberal. He is about to take power, unless conservatives stop fighting and get serious.

This would give liberals what they will treat as a clear sign from America that is it ready to move sharply to the left. Not slightly to the left.

Cherry picking our candidate is exactly what got us INTO this mess, and if conservatives aren’t careful, they will allow our country spiral out of control.

There is no such thing as a quick recovery from 4 years of radical liberalism unchecked. We may be facing what will take years and years of damage to undo. What’s more, there’s no guarantee that it WILL be undone. Have conservatives completely forgotten Roe v. Wade and other extremely important issues?

Questioning McCain was right and highly useful for a time and a season. Many of us wish we had acted sooner to support Romney or Huck.... But staying home on election day allows liberals a pass to capture all THREE branches of Government. Our kids deserve better out of us.

I'm not asking anyone to sacrifice their own belief or convictions, but we have a serious problem here that requires that we do everything we can to minimize the damage this election can cause to our society.

I’d rather have 50% of McCains ear, than 0% of a liberals ear.

Give it some thought, friends.

anyone who does not vote if McCain wins the nomination should be ashamed. The worst thing you can do is nothing at all!
Write in Ron Paul!

As a Baltimore expatriot I thought you might be interested in a look from outside:I say that Dr Paul is ideally situated with his grass root support to win or lose the election for the republicans. The cogniscatti of the conservative wing knows this. That’s why the endorsements of the Conservitive magazine and cpac are so important. With Dr. Paul as their candidate, they win. If anyone else is their candidate, they lose. The united voice of the conservative wing will , I believe, still the bleating to the left. The neo- cons have proven the penury of their doctrine. It seems Dr. Paul need only adopt the role of the confident, avuncular elder stateman and wait to accept the nomination. The battle has already, effectively been won. Please, brothers and sisters, pay no attention to the hysterical voices among you. They are useful as comic relief and to stimulate discussion, but I am convinced that the political acumen of Dr Paul is beyond reproach. I am sure that I have not heard any indication whatever from him that he is in any way concerned about the viability of his candidacy. His announcement that he was streamlining his campaign was just that. He’s saying “look, I’m saving some of the money you’ve given me, since we’ve passed the moment of crisis”, He’s not saying “I quit” I see him acknowledging that the grass roots volunteers obviate the need for a large paid staff at this time. To fear for the revolution and his candidacy is for his enemies. Those of us who love him and what he represents are not fooled for a second. Is this Hubris? Perhaps. But the surrender of the republican party that the nomination of another candidate would represent would demonstrate perpetually the counterfeit nature of the political process in the U.S. of A. The powers that be could not seriously ever again expect the participation of the electorate in such a transparent fiction. They could only be seen as insisting on open rebellion. The world watches and waits. In the mean time we know what to do.A lot can happen in7 months and now we can concentrate our efforts in each primary, each discussion about the future of our nation and each battle for the legitimacy of the media and the election process. Press in. We will not yield, we will not falter. Let others steal defeat from the jaws of victory. As for the shenanigans with the polls and the media, let the spooks memorize the mantra: “Oh, what a tangled web we weave, when at first we practice to deceive.”

I've been a Republican for 23 years and have "held my nose" and voted the party choice a few times... but not this year, and not ever again. This year it's not just about who I'm voting against, but who I'm voting FOR. Ron Paul is the obvious choice for President and Commander in Chief of our military. I would not vote for any of the Republican or Democrat "Goldman Sachs" puppets the media has paraded before us--or Huckabee who couldn't even run a single state, much less a country.

Wow, you conservatives are confused to the point of illogic. There's another group that would rather purge unbelievers than think about how to get things done in the real world. It's called Al Qaeda.

Hey Vice-Roy,

How many times are you going to cut and paste that garbage.

Conservatives voted like sheep in 2000 and 2004 and what they got was the disasterous, two-term Presidency of George W Bush.

People really care about the ISSUES this time and they're NOT going to be herded like sheep by Party nuts like you.

Screw John McCain.

If Ron Paul isn't on the ballot in November I'm still going to write his name in. I'm dead set on voting for him. I'm voting for him in my primary and the general election no matter what.
Please, all Ron Paul fans write his name in as your vote in November if he isn't on the ballot!

McCain will not be the only candidate losing votes over the war. There are millions of registered Democrats like myself who will refuse to vote for any candidate that supported the Iraq War. If Clinton wins the nomination, she automatically loses several million votes.

McCAin not eligible to hold office of President.
Born in Panama, he is not a Natural Born Citizen as stipulated in the Constitution. Hope springs eternal, RP.

John McCain can not be PRESIDENT!
why? he was born in Panama.. Therefore under the constitution he does not qualify to be President. It needs to be clarified by the Supreme Court.
He is a Citizen because both parents are but he is hold under the same rule as Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and any other Citizen NO BORN IN THE USA.

Can some Bring this to the Public… How is this possible when Under the Constitution he is not permitted to become President.

I'm a 65 year old Ron Paul revolutionary, and a single father of eleven with potentially draftable 16 and 23 year olds - or maybe ALL of them if Charlie Rangel gets his way.

I would rather vote for Hillary than John McCain. Under her Marxist spending agenda my kids might well become even poorer slaves of the government than they already are. But McCain could literally take them and kill them while they fight in some stupid neocon-flict to make their surviving siblings LESS safe.

In reality, if Ron Paul is unable to convince the delegates in St. Paul that they will be committing GOP party suicide by nominating McRomnabee, then I will proudly write in the good Doctor's name on November 4th.

Ron Paul is not and will not ever be "out of the race." If his name is not on the ballot, I'll write him in...and you can too. Anyone can, rather than vote for a big government Republican or a big government Democrat.

The time was August 1964, the place, the 9th Marine Expeditionary Brigade sitting off-shore South Vietnam waiting for orders to go in (pre-war).

Aboard ship we were voting absentee for President; it was between Barry Goldwater and Lyndon Johnson.

They told me if I voted for Johnson there would be a war. You know, they were right, I voted for Johnson and there was a war.

Until Ron Paul, Presidential elections to me were nothing more than a 'Dog and Pony Show'.

Need I say more ?

USMC Cuban Missile Crisis (GTMO) and Vietnam Veteran

McCain may be able to unite the party if he chooses Romney as Vice President. Most of the conservative base supports and loves Romney so Romney should be used to unite the party. It helps that Romney is also an expert regarding the economy and other areas where McCain lacks.

Ron Paul for the Long Haul!

If all else fails - write his name in!

"McCain may be able to unite the party..."

"Uniting" the party will not be enough. Since they are both war mongers, a McCain/Romney ticket will alienate even more of the 70% of Americans who are sick of our bankrupting military adventurism.

Since most Huckabee supporters will vote for McCain regardless of whether he is the VP, having him on the ticket will gain nothing. On the other hand a McCain/Paul ticket would add both the 10% RP strength (who will otherwise write him in) as well as bringing in many Democrats who might consider a ticket featuring Ron Paul, the one anti-war candidate who outshines both Hillary and Obama in that area.

This is especially true since McCain is 71 and unhealthy, while Paul is only one year older and healthy, and is thus more likely to outlive McCain and become President.

I don't think this would be the first time in our history that ideologically antithetical candidates have formed a marriage of convenience for the purpose of assuring victory in the general election.

The truth is simple, straight forward, and it's logic will astound you.

If you haven't given Ron Paul a chance now is the time. I just ask that you really hear what HE has to say and not what others may say about him.

I still believe in Ron Paul's message and I will vote for Ron Paul regardless of the public perception of his ability to win (or not.)

He has not dropped out and if he does - I will write him in.

I think it is sad that the media never gave him a shot and now - with articles like this are leading others to believe he has quit.

Without Ron Paul, there is no republican running for president.
McCain is a neocon just like all that mob in the Bush administration..They are like the mafia mob.
The Republican party is a thing of the past..Neocons are NOT Republicans.. they are big government war mongers..they hijacked the Republican party!
Democrats are about the same as neocons..just even bigger government and socialism..Gun grabbers..
Who know's what the Ron Paul supporters will do..there is no choice for real republicans without Ron Paul.

Ron Paul for President!
The ONLY candidate qualified for the job. We will NEVER - repeate NEVER - switch to anyone less (especially InsaneMcCain!)
We will launch a Write-In-RonPaul campaign if it comes to that. Imagine for the first time in American history, a President elected by write-in.
Ron Paul For The Long Haul 2008 !!

No - it's not
'Anyone But InsaneMcCain' -
it's 'No one but Ron Paul' !!!

"We have not yet begun to fight" Ron Paul Jones

I will write Ron Paul's name in before I will ever vote for the least of the worst.

Make no mistake, Obama will be elected. Mcliar will not beat him in November. Conservatives blew the opportunity to nominee the best candidate to go toe-to-toe with Obama and now it's too late. Shame on all of you!
god help us for the next four years. Obama is the most liberal senator and with the left having total power, the mighty USA won't be mighty for long.

Add my name to the list of Paul supporters who have sworn to never again vote against their consciences. I'm a life-long republican, but I will NOT vote for McCain or any other neoconservative offering. Might it be that we are witnessing the demise of the current incarnation of the GOP? One can only hope.

One thing people are failing to notice is that this is all pre-programed. You don't honestly believe that so many voted for "Songbird" McBacon? Look up "Highjacking Democracy" on Youtube with Bev Harris, to find out about vote fraud, then look at the big picture on the long-term. Hillary will be the next pres. barring any stupid stunts or facts comming to light. McCaine is only there just in case that does happen, either way the Rockfeller/neocon agenda continues.
Schwarzenager endorsed Mc Bacon only because if a non-US born candidate can become pres so can he. When Hillary messes up the country even more people will scream for change once again and Arnie will be the next neocon. This is if the GOP does survive the stupidity of McBacon.

We WILL support Dr. Paul right to the very end and if he is NOT on the ballot in November we WILL write him in.

We REFUSE to vote for the BANKSTER Controlled Clinton, Obama, McCain or Huckabee.

This is our first year of voting and we will NOT waste our vote by voting for the "Lessor of 2 Evils" but WILL vote for the ONLY STATESMAN running.

Also, there are groups of TRUE REPUBLICANS that are getting together to remove the Liberal John McCain. Click the links below and sign the pledge to NOT Vote For John McCain.

McCain NEVER. I will write Paul in if need be, but there's no way RP supporters will EVER vote for McCain.

I don't see how McCain can possible win with his base so against him. Too bad they didn't pick Ron Paul as their candidate long ago instead of trying to jump on the Romney bandwagon after it was too late.

RE: McCain's place of birth... ONLY U.S. embassies are "sovereign territory", NOT military bases. McCain was made a US Citizen by the passage of a bill in 1903. Although he is a CITIZEN, he is not a NATURAL BORN citizen.

Go and read those Bills and Acts very carefully. Also, please note that in 2000, when McCain first ran, this issue came up. In fact, there was a group that was trying to make changes to the Constitution that would remove the NATURAL BORN part. THIS WAS SPECIFICALLY FOR MCCAIN'S BENEFIT.

There are also legal pieces written as late as 2005 where they are once again stirring this issue up.

MCCAIN IS NOT LEGALLY PERMITTED TO BE PRESIDENT. Do not let anyone dissuade you from believing this. He is SOL.

This little problem cannot be taken care of by any law that Congress passes, or any Senate bill. It REQUIRES an amendment to the Constitution. The powers that be would sincerely like you to believe that it does not.

I will be filing an action on this personally. It is partially complete at the moment. Any lawyers that want to help me out, feel free to get in touch.

I could live with a Ron Paul/Colin Powell nomination.

Adam wrote: Conservatives oppose not McCain himself but the positions he's taken and the bills he's sponsored, notably the McCain-sponsored illegal immigration amnesty bill.

It's true that we don't agree with McCain's positions, but it's also true that it's the man we won't vote for as well. He's a liar, a cheat, a fraud, a criminal and, in fact, both he and Cindy should be in jail for their crimes: his part in Keating 5 and her theft of drugs from the non-profit. In addition to his age, he also does not have the temperament to lead the free world.

There is NO reason to vote for this man - not his personal attributes or his liberal positions.

Although Dr. Paul has some good ideas, he comes across as a mad man so people don't listen to him. He, too, can't lead the nation.

It is a sad day for our country and the Republican Party.

P.S. I'm a Romney fan and I'll write MITT ROMNEY in every ballot through the general.

Rejected to-do list:
-Lick a railroad track when its 20 below.
-Shoot my foot with a 45.
-Relieve myself on an electric fence.
-Stick my head under a running lawn mower
-Vote for McCain

Wow it's true, John McCain was never born in the United States of America!

http://www.votesmart.org/bio.php?can_id=53270

I provided a link and the official site for McCain doesn't even acknowledge where he was born in the bio...Funny that!

If McCain can run then the "Terminator" should be able to run for president too!

So, Mick, Paul only pulled 3% in Florida, but that was still 63,000 votes.

Would you like to tell us that even though there are 63,000 Paul supporters in Florida alone, there aren't enough in the whole country to fill up comment boards like this one? Especially since we're so Internet-savvy and all?

A vote for McCain is a vote for more of the Shrub presiduncy.

But I'd like to pose a question to all the Republics out there:

If McCain selects Ron Paul as VP, will you vote for him? After all, McCain is about 70,000 years old already.

Nothing has changed for me. I'm still going to vote for Ron Paul even if I have to write him in.

And I think everyone knows the only republican with a chance against the democrats this year is Ron Paul. McCain can't even get the republican party votes, much less the general election votes.

Is the GOP purposely committing suicide?

Well, let's see, the Mitt fans are writing in Mitt, the Paul fans are writing in Paul, the anti-amnesty group is staying home with the anti-war group and the real conservatives. The democrats are having a record shattering primary turn out, record fund raising totals, and running on an issue that 70% of the American people are fiercely against, the Iraq War. The Republicans DESRVE to LOSE this election and WILL lose it if they can not see the writing on the wall, in 50 foot letters no less. If the economy goes South like I think it will, and the convention is brokered, and it will be, maybe they will nominatee Paul. A late Paul nomination would SOO throw the democrats off balance as they will be working to be elected from anti-war sentiment and if Paul is nominated they can not even bring up the war, especially Hillary. Nominating a president is more of a chess game than a beauty pagent, and Ron Paul is CHECKMATE! Ron Paul can bring the GOP together, the country together and WIN! Be smart and win with Paul or be dumb and lose to Hillary!

For the last seven years the GWB administration has made every part of government grow and Rush, Hannity and Fox have said nothing.

It's amazing how many of us see around the BS.

The Ron Paul Revelution is the beganing the anti-neocon movement and we have a great base of people.

Why would anyone take the time to read this far down. Why would are nation stand for LIES, Deception and blantent FRAUD in a presidential election. Do you think the Writers strike was just coincident. The CFR and all its divisions that David Rockefeller controls has won again. They have won. America will fall our indentured servitude continues to progress. Wake up America and turn off your TV. Its time to join the 2nd American revolution.

McCain looks like the Manchurian Candidate.

He's a RINO, and no friend of gun owners.

You know what it really means when he calls himself a "maverick"? It means he got a ridiculous amount of demerits in Naval Academy and finished near the bottom of his class.

Another uninformed poster. McCain has never voted against gun rights. The 3-4% of the vote that Ron Paul's been getting is not republican votes. They either come from people who otherwise wouldn't vote or just switched from democrats and could switch back.

They're no big loss.

Even Ann Coulter is now saying in public that she absolutely loves almost everything about Ron Paul’s positions!

http://www.dailycolonial.com/go.dc?p=3&s=4860

“Other Republican candidates faired slightly better than McCain. Coulter called Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee a flip-flopper, but also said he is now the lesser of the evils between the Republican frontrunners. She expressed fondness for Congressman Ron Paul, saying she absolutely loves everything about Paul’s positions except on his stance on the Iraq War.”

Romney supporters - come join the Ron Paul Revolution! We're the last hope for the grand old party.

The GOP is fighting amongts themselves now. They don't have a cansidate that's conservative nor acceptable to conservatives.

As true conservatives you should email these guys and let them know how you feel about the choices they're giving you:

I'm a moderate Dem. who believes that Bush and Cheney have destroyed America. I will not be able to vote for Edwards. Hillbama is up in the air for me. I could live with Ron Paul. HANG IN THERE!! I could not live with McCain bc that would mean twelve or sixteen years of W. Chimpy Bush. NO THANKS. Don't want more recession, more service jobs, more Blackwater, more tyranny, more neglect of American infrastructure, and more all-out wars with McCain. Next time others bring up Bill Clinton's morals--we need to ask--Didn't McCain leave his first wife for the newer model, Cindy? Then there is Huck... NO THANKS--for so many reasons--the least being he would be an embarrassment. Given America's high infant mortality rate, lack of health coverage, high H.S. drop outrate--we do not need to be perceived as even more Podunk. And, the preacher-man is highly judgmental--WWJD? I think he would tell Huck not to judge others. Or, not to save the unborn while allowing thousands of children in Iraq to die.

I've heard people call McCain's position "pro-victory stance on Iraq" These are the people that took the "blue pill." There is no "winning" and there is no "victory" when there is no true enemy. McCain even knows this and that is why he switched to the word "success". But all the success he is talking about is just that, talk. There were more US military deaths last month as compared to December '07. There were more US military deaths in January '08 than in January '07 and January '06. If anyone should be speaking for the armed forces it is Paul since he has received more support from our armed service men and women than ANY other candidate, Democrat or Repulican! Oh, but that isn't newsworthy. You can't win a war against terrorism since waging one is primary engine for CREATING terrorists. Remember, we call them terrorists but we are the invaders and Iraq POSED NO THREAT. Bush lied and it was sweet so we ate it. Terrorist is a relative term. In my book Bush is a terrorist. Furthermore, the term Al Caiada means "The Base" and it was the name of a CIA database of people that we (US gov't) actually collaborated with. The war is a sham and a cash cow of enormous magnitude. We are killing ourselves, the USA. Can a terrorist take away Habeas Corpus, free speech or your right to keep and bear arms? But we lose these and say we are spreading freedom. We are killing ourselves and making our real enemies rich. We are forging our own chains of servitude. Be brave, think for yourselves and don't let the TV decide who is president.

For those of you that have an interest in shooing the man out from behind the curtain there is really only one choice. The sad thing is that you don't even need me to tell you who it is. In your heart of hearts you know but you just need to be brave and step outside what the TV is telling you to think.

If Ron Paul is not on the ballot come November, I will just write him in.

Torqued

I'm so happy that John McCain won the Republican nomination. I didn't feel bad watching this video because of the fact:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8l8AIuJJRZo

I think McCain will beat Hillary.

All the Romney supporters I know are now Ron Paul supporters. McCain is a one hop shy of a loony bin, he's an adulterer who flew 20 hours of combat and managed to crash 5 planes. He covered up his adulterous second wife's drug abuse and embezzling, and covered up for George Bush's cocaine smuggling. There's no way anyone who doesn't hate the United States can vote for him.

If you support Ron Paul and the Constitution of the United States, talk about it to your friends and relatives. Consider the possibility that your word is just as important to your friends as the spin-agenda of CNN. A lot of people simply still have no idea what Ron Paul stands for. You can change that.

We are a little confused on why Mitt's supporters would still write him in when he bowed out of the race to try and stop a Brokered Convention.

Mitt said it was because of finances but do you really believe that?

If Dr. Paul sold out on us we would NOT even think about writing him in. Dr. Paul is sticking to his guns even though the Republican Party Big Wigs, LSM and Powers To Be are putting blockades in front of him.

We have nothing against Mitt other than he is playing along with the Establishment instead of sticking up for whats right and by his supporters.

McCain will never get my vote. Nunca. Not if he is running against Hugo Chavez for dog catcher. Not if he promises to select me personally for running mate. Not if he has a bazooka to my head.

The people supporting Dr. Paul are the same ones who threw the election to the Dems in the midterms. The GOP is self destructing because they are playing chicken with us and we have nothing to lose.

Nick you are clueless.

We RP supporters have been accused of "spamming" from the very begining. But it simply is not true. And if it is, then explain this.

How did Ron Paul solicit a six million dollar donation in a 24 hr period? If there's just a few of us?
How did that come about? Spamming? Just 20 maybe 30 people donating $100,000.000 dollars each and then coming back under another email address and donating another 100,000.000 over and over?

No, we're not numbered in the millions but we are in thousands. And there are hundreds of websites to spread the word without wasting time "spamming" this one.

At least our Candidate (Ron Paul)is worth fighting for. Apparently yours isn't. Otherwise you would'nt be wasting time trying to downplay ours.
