Another weapon in the Arsenal of Democracy!
Uh, OK, maybe just another gizmo for bottom feeding political memorabilia collectors.
A San Diego firm has announced the launch of TypoBuddy http://www.typobuddy.com/ , bargain-finding website.
We'll let them explain it:
"Consumers may not know it, but sellers on eBay and craigslist frequently misspell key words in their listings, making their auctions and products difficult or impossible to find. This creates a window of opportunity for the savvy shopper. Using Deal Locker’s new Typo Buddy tool, users can quickly and easily find misspelled listings for popular items, and since these hidden listings often have go unnoticed buyers can save big!"
This being election season, and a political blog, the window of opportunity is for unsold political merchandise.
Simply misspell the name of the junior senator from Illinois (eBay and craigslist both list 72 incorrect iterations) and Typo Buddy ferrets out soon-to-be-hard-to-find (we think) Obama yard signs from the Iowa caucuses among hundreds of other items.
Type in "Hickaby" and voila: Typo Buddy disgorges a list of dozens of Huckabee items from a four-pack of Christian-themed New Hampshire campaign buttons to a signed guitar pick and buttons pairing the Arkansas governor with long-in-the-tooth action hero Chuck Norris.
Typo Buddy is partial to possessors of odd names. We couldn't get much action on Klinton, Rahmney and McCaine. Too bad Koocinich dropped out.
