Good morning.

Here are a few Washington events of note for Wednesday, February 27.

The Supreme Court is hearing arguments on whether ExxonMobil should have to pay $2.5 billion in punitive damages stemming from the 1989 Exxon Valdez oil spill in Alaska.

The House Commerce, Trade and Consumer Protection Subcommittee is holding a hearing on drug use in sports with a focus on athlete health and the integrity of competition, with former Sen. George Mitchell, MLB Commissioner Bud Selig, NBA Commissioner David Stern, MLB Players Association Executive Director Donald Fehr, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman.

The House Financial Services Committee is holding a hearing on monetary policy and the state of the economy with Federal Reserve Board Chairman Ben Bernanke.

I hope the Supremes decide for the plaintiffs in the case of the Valdez oil spill. The governor of Alaska was on C-SPAN th other morning and said it has been 19 years since the court decision. Some people never saw their pay-off, they died while waiting for it. Who ultimately will pay though?
