It's not a Beckett play, but sometimes it feels as long as one.
Your correspondent is here at Washington Lee High School in Arlington, Va. in a gymnasium packed with teenagers, teachers and local residents. Sen. Hillary Clinton is on her way, they tell us, an hour after she was due. Some people have been here as early as noon. Lines to see Clinton stretched out the door and traffic filled the streets.
To keep the hyperactive crowd entertained, a campaign staffer has been tossing t-shirts to the teens. Unfortunately, his criteria for selecting where to throw the shirts has been whichever section of the bleachers can scream the loudest.
Now the marching band has started up again.
The assembled press corps is currently bleeding from the ears.
As the Ramones sang: "Rock, rock, rock, rock, rock n' roll high school". . . .

And of course we know Obama's never been late -- except for that time he landed in the wrong city...

You can afford to be late when you got all the answers. You can be on time and still be as dumb as a rock! Power to the people! Remember to vote regardless of who you support. Only Democracy can change things.

This is Hillary's attempt to show she is connecting with young voters. If you need to go to a High School, instead of a adult rally, to get young people out that's sad.
Hillary's comeback got crowded out in the media stories of the day, by being overshadowed by the Mitt Romney story. Back to the drawing board, Miss Thing... oh well.
Go, Obama

Apparently it has happened a couple of times:
My daughter(Mercer Univ. student) my wife and I attempted to attend a rally for Hillary Clinton(Bill was speaking) at Mercer University in Macon, Ga. earlier today. We waited two hours in the bitter cold until we were turned away at the door. Then we had no idea if we were to be let in or not. At least 1000 people were turned away after waiting for 2 hours!. The Clinton campaign totally mismanaged the entire affair and left scores of people furious at the lack of concern shown to the public that took a day off from work to see President Clinton speak. It turns out the Clinton campaign knew all along how many could be fit in the arena but did not count out to that number in the line and have the consideration to tell the others to forget getting in. The cops came out and threatened to taser the peaceful crowd of elderly and students if they did not clear the building in 5 minutes. The Mercer students were not given any kind of preferential treatment for entry even though it was on their campus. The crowd began chanting Obama! Obama! as they were removed from the building. Shoddy treatment by the Clintons

The doors for Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton’s campaign rally at McCluer North High School didn’t officially open until 8 pm. Saturday, but people started arriving around 5 pm.
Because of the cold, organizers opened the doors, a reason the high school was packed by 7 p.m.
By 8:30 pm. there were whispers that the Clintons wouldn’t arrive until 9:30 or later. At 8:45 p.m. Florissant Mayor Robert Lowery took to the mike to announce that volunteers would be distributing bottles of water and snacks to the thousands packing the gyms and nearby space.
By 9:10 p.m. the crowd took on raucous atmosphere and bottles of water, and bags of chips, Fritoes and popcorn were being tossed.
...
At one point, state Democratic Party Chairman John Temporiti joked to the crowd that they are many good things from (President Bill) Clinton’s years in office, but there was also “Clinton time.”
Clinton as president was legendary for being late for events, sometimes by hours. (Ask me about camping out in a cold rain late one night for hours at Lambert, during a routine arrival watch. I’ve got a photo to show me and others huddled under a flatbed trailer. )
When the Clintons did arrive, taking to the stage around 10 p.m. ...

I wouldn't think much of it, since important people can be late, but Obama has been on time -- even early -- to his events in St. Louis this year.
It does make you wonder what the Clintons think of the little people standing out in the cold, waiting.

Clinton II shows up late for everything. Just like Clinton I.
This kind of discourtesy is a window into the Clintons me-first mentality.
