With Pennsylvania considered the next big prize in the race for the Democratic presidential nomination, expect to see a lot more of this video of a home movie featuring Sen. Hillary Clinton as a toddler in Scranton, PA, the city her father Hugh hailed from. Her family spent some summers there.
We ran this post by Josh Drobnyk of the Morning Call who wrote about Clinton's Pennsylvania connections last year.
As Drobnyak tells me, Clinton is "supposed to be doing some door-to-door campaigning through her family's old neighborhood today before or after her rally at Scranton High School.
"This is her first stop in Pennsylvania and its all about highlighting her blue-collar, local roots. Her grandfather spent his career at Scranton Lace Co."

How convenient for Hillary. Another "home" state. How many does that make now?
I'm also wondering if there is a correlation between those states she claims as "home" states & those that "matter."
Count me as one middle-aged woman who won't be voting for Hillary.

What's that in her hand? Is that a handgun?
Posted by: olucy | March 10, 2008 9:03 AM
I guess this is her response to Obama's childhood in Indonesia? In either case, I don't seem how what they did at that age counts as experience that is so relevant to the White House. Unless we are talking about Hillary's learning to shoot a gun. Let's just wait and see the Vince Foster conspiracy theorists pick up on this one!

I dont about you, but I am really tired of Hilary, this video is just another ploy to get votes, and its getting worse. WAKE UP AMERICA!!!!!
Posted by: Deborah | March 10, 2008 9:05 AM
I won't be voting for Hillary either. I would prefer that the first woman president be someone with integrity, someone who can lead without reinventing herself for each issue and someone who does not have a husband named Bill Clinton.

Do we want another President from Pennsyvania?
Our 15th President James Buchanan is the only President from Pennsylvania.
Scholars consistently rank him as one of the two or three worst American presidents.[2] As Southern states declared their secession in the lead-up to the American Civil War, he held that secession was illegal, but that going to war to stop it was also illegal. Taking his own advice, he did nothing.

Hillary as a toddler ... now THAT'S looking toward the future!! Funny how she suddenly loves Pennsylvania again after all these years. The only states important to Hill are those where she can win. The others? Don't matter. Forget about 'em! Welcome to HRC's Divided States of America ... haven't we been polarized enough these last 8 years?
Posted by: Jeff | March 10, 2008 9:15 AM
If Hillary carrys Penn and recaptures Florida and Michigan they will be playing President Hillary Clintons home movies for a very long time.
The Democrats can not win with Penn, Ohio and Florida. It is interesting the hard working blue collar workers of America support Clinton. Perfect for Penn. It just goes to show the don't need a college education to know which way the wind blows.
Posted by: Will | March 10, 2008 9:20 AM
Let me guess...is she counting this as part of her 35 years of experience?
Posted by: DD | March 10, 2008 9:24 AM
Hillary is the real deal.
a real woman. She will make a great
president. She is realistic and can
work with both sides of the mess in
Washington. She knows no one can
change it...you have to work in it,
and with it. The other guy talks crap.
His hands are as dirty as any politician..
so smug and arrogant he is. bumbler
and stumbler.

Wow! Looks like she was born rich. Wonder how that will play with the steel workers who were layed off because of TEAM CLINTON's NAFTA.
Posted by: Bud McFarlin | March 10, 2008 9:38 AM
Hillary certainly lived a nomadic life growing up. Did she come from a family of gypsies?
Posted by: Pete | March 10, 2008 9:42 AM
Ok, last time I checked Park Ridge, Illinois wasn't too blue collar. Come on Obama you have to point out she has been a rich kid her entire life and is no more blue collar than Romney. Come on she has been rich her entire life!!! You should say, when I heard how people were talking about the elite candidate and the blue collar candidate I thought they confused the biographies. I worked from the bottom, Sen. Clinton has been part of the elite her entire life. Shoot, if SNL wasn’t so completely biased towards Clinton they would make fun of her acting as if she is her husband and even ‘remembering her days growing up poor in Arkansas . . . oh wait I grew up rich in Chicago.
Ok Obama, you hit her on NAFTA, but what true middle class blue collar workers hate is China. You need to point out how much money both her and her husband take from China and how many shady dealings they have had with Chinese companies and ‘citizens’. For goodness sake a company that’s a front for the Chinese government netted ol’ Bill $700,000 just last year. NAFTA is great but China is the key to the Midwest.

Oh, dear God! Hillary has admitted learning to shoot a gun as a child! It's a good memory for her - part of her Idyllic childhood summers. How does that fit into her new "anti-gun" image?

Let's hope the voters of PA see through this pathetic pandering better than those in NY did. She only went to NY because of its national prominence and electoral count.

It's good to see a picture of the young "Goldwater Girl"
It is interesting to see the girl who actually grew up in Park Ridge, Illinois was not asked for support for Bill Foster's successful run for Congress. Instead he happily accepted Obama's help and said he will gladly be a Super-delegate for him.
Posted by: JohnA. | March 10, 2008 9:53 AM
Shrillary spreads faster than kudzu.
Did her grandfather allow female workers to advance at the lace Works? Why was her father run out of town?
What a slimy pandering weasel!
Posted by: Remus | March 10, 2008 9:54 AM
That little girl. That's who I want answering the phone at three AM.
Hello?
(Note: that now makes 55 years of experience. Geez it's piling up.)
Posted by: Ulekewan | March 10, 2008 9:59 AM
So, no matter what Hillary does, you've got your mind made up Olivia. How "end of the politics of destruction" that is. I was born in Missouri, but raised in Texas. If you took me to Buchanan county I wouldn't recognize it at all, but I still love that I was born in Missouri. But if you mess with Texas, I'd get pretty ticked at you too.
It must be hard to live in a world that isn't so cut and dry. Obama was born in Hawaii, but loves to use his "world" travelling experience to his benefit.
If you've only lived in One State you can't relate to having more than one "home" state. But your cynicism only compounds the reason I know Obama's message is all fluff. Your hatred is showing, might want to tuck it in before it costs him in November.

Right, b/c this ad is sooo offensive?
Posted by: move on | March 10, 2008 10:01 AM
Nice. Did she write any essays in Kindergarten about how she wanted to be President?
Posted by: KPO'M | March 10, 2008 10:08 AM
What a sweet child she appears to have been. Who would ever have guessed?
Posted by: Grandma | March 10, 2008 10:11 AM
This is proof that the Clinton's have been cloned they are every where! They are scary people.
Posted by: Paul PR | March 10, 2008 10:12 AM
Hillary is the ultimate panderer. It's insulting, but what's more, people eat it up. She sheds tears in New Hampshire and rides that emotional wave to a win. Now this. But, America seems to be a sucker for such behavior. Some people I know call her husband the "Perjurer in Chief," now we potentially have the "Panderer in Chief." What a great couple! I just hope America will finally wake up.
Posted by: Chuck | March 10, 2008 10:15 AM
Olivia, you bring up a good point. A lot is said about her "blue collar roots" but I have a hard time finding any concrete info about her upbringing. Are these summers in PA a second home? Because, you know all blue collar families have summer homes.
P.S. From what I've found, her grandfather owned a textile business, not just "spent his career" in it.
Posted by: Kellie | March 10, 2008 10:15 AM
C'mon. Hill and Bill will sell ya anything. She voted in favor of invading Iraq and supported NAFTA, and there was plenty of national outcry against both at the time to support her in a vote or stance against them. Is that what she means by having "experience?"
Posted by: a regular guy | March 10, 2008 10:23 AM
Is part of the "35 years of experience" she has to be POUTUS?
Posted by: Lighthouse | March 10, 2008 10:35 AM
Definitely a lot of "home states".....whatever is convenient at the time for her. I'm born and raised in Chicago but my family would travel every summer to Wisconsin, Missouri, and Ohio to visit family so these are also my "home states"...two faced and phony..
Posted by: AC | March 10, 2008 10:36 AM
Verging on incoherent prattle! "Idyllic" summers fishing "all over" with dad and shooting a gun at the lake is as meaningful as it gets? As usual, in typical Billary style: all about "ME". What does this tell us of her connection to the people of Pennsylvania? They are nowhere in sight. Nothing but the memories of a privileged kid visiting the colonies... This is awful pandering and would garner a "F" if it were presented to a grade school class in a "How I spent my summer" report.

I want someone running around in a dress as a child and crying on TV every time something gets too emotional for her to be Pres. Was that a tear in her eye, twice, on TV, because she was thinking of the movement she voted on to have 100,000 + troops in a place they do not belong and thousands of soldiers dying? Guess the GUN training her family gave her was some of the experience she is talking about. Some of the press should check into a little girl shooting a weapon? Is this child endangerment or something? Sounds like GREAT family values. I am still waiting for her to cry on TV again. The 3 AM Call. Some leader of another country is calling her and saying something and her crying. That is my impression. I do not care if she has 50 years of experience in politics. We need someone fresh with new ideas! Pres. Obama.

why oh why are the republicans so afraid of a very smart women but they have settled for Bush and cheney bleeding off the U.S resources defense contracts in the billions for their dear friends {war makes money} where has the money gone in Irag??? why do they not report the latest deaths of the united states soldier?
Posted by: de | March 10, 2008 10:48 AM
Too many states you say for Clinton...Well, let's see Obama has Hawaii, Kansas, Illinois, and yes there's the growing up years where, in Indonesia? Well, that doesn't count cause they don't vote for President.
Posted by: GyspyinFL | March 10, 2008 10:52 AM
I don't get it...How is this video suppose to sway my vote to her? It also is not a complete video. There is only about 2-3 pictures that are repeated. Her experience for the 3am call I am sure she was not the one in bed with Bill if he ever got that call. She is using him just like he used her. What a good american family
Posted by: Linda | March 10, 2008 10:56 AM
Hillary... I love her. When her husband was in office, she stated that she was named after Sir Edmund Hillary. Remember that? Only problem, she was born long before Sir Edmund Hillary ever climbed Everest. Who was she named after in this photo?
Posted by: Chgosaint | March 10, 2008 11:03 AM
Since when is it more patriotic to consider only one state your home? Many Americans can and do claim multiple hometowns, as a result of relocations, extended family, etc. Anyone's whose father worked in sales knows about multiple hometowns. Why doesn't it reflect well on a politician to have lived in several places and feel a deep connection to them? BTW, I'm an Obama supporter, but Clinton-bashers often take lousy shots at Hill and Bill, and there is no reason to slight her for this latest ad.

The litle girl in Clinton's 3:00 AM phone call video grew up and is voting for Obama. The little girl in this Clinton video should also grow up, stop whining, stop the fear and smear politics and stop playing the role of victim and vote for Obama too!

This is great! Hillary is smart, sexy and a fighter! Soon enough, Obama's skeletons will be led out the closet--Like his homosexual appetite. His crack addiction and he is still a SMOKER who has not quit..Which makes him into a liar!

Thank goodness the Republicans nominated McCain. It's nice to know I'll have a legitimately good candidate to vote for in November. Contrast his integrity to the pandering of the Demcratic freakshow. It's no contest.

Love the part about learning to shoot a gun. And in a state that Gore lost because he wasn't enthused about the 2nd amendment. Can't wait to see Hillary in camouflage with a shotgun.
Posted by: Andy | March 10, 2008 11:38 AM
What phonies most posters here are! You perceive Obama as your homer, so you love him up! His HOME state would be Hawaii, idiots. Or, should we actually say home of Jakarta, but that wouldn't sound too patriotic, eh? And didn't we hear about Kansas as yet another of his home states cuz Mom was from there? No difference. IL people are looking for another Hastert to butter their bread in Washington. What a state of ill-informed homers you are. And, lastly, for the ignorant, Hillary was from Park Ridge.
Posted by: kathy | March 10, 2008 11:42 AM
35 years of experience and 35 home states.
Posted by: Paul | March 10, 2008 11:43 AM
Here we go again. Apparently, she's from there too. So this would make her from Arkansas, Chicago, New York, and Pennsylvania. Is she a politician or a carnie?
Posted by: Jon | March 10, 2008 11:46 AM
This doesn't fool me - you were born with a silver spoon in your mouth, Hillary, and you know NOTHING of what it's like to be "working class" Ever clean a toilet? No?, didn't think so.

Hillary Clinton and that no good husband of hers are so phoney it's god-damn-ridiculous!
Posted by: JaliliMaster | March 10, 2008 12:27 PM
Another example of Dr. Goebbel's observation that no matter how outrageous the lie, if you shout it loud enough and long enough people will believe it. Now Hillary has blue collar roots - right, and the Pope is a Jew. She grew up in Park Ridge - upper middle class suburb. she went to Wellesley - BEFORE they gave scholarships to "underprivileged" sorts - and then went to Yale Law. Student loans or scholarships - hell, daddy paid her way. If the blue collar rubes in Pennsylvania fall for dog-and-pony act, they deserve losing their jobs when she maintains NAFTA (assuming she's elected) to keep her corporate donors happy.
Posted by: Wolfgang | March 10, 2008 12:41 PM
What an embarrassment all these Hillary haters are? They don't even have the humanity to look at a little girl's video and smile. We won't miss them one bit when she wins the nomination and the GE.

There's some bitterness in this thread, alright, and it's not from Clinton's ad or her supporters.

So I see the left picked up their copy of right wing talking points before posting here. Go ahead, follow their instructions, bash Hillary senselessly, split the party, elect McCain, yeah the lemmings on the left followed every step the right asked them to and lost another election, smart group.

Wonder if Hugh Rodman, Hillary's brother will also be shown? Didn't he earn $200,000 for securing the pardon of a drug dealer?
Bet he's one person that can't wait for Hillary to be in office.

So ... Mrs. Clinton, you enjoyed an all American childhood ... ice cream ... and then you met with one Mr. Saul Alinsky, and after that one Mr. Bill Clinton. Was it Mr. Alinsky, or Mr. Clinton who first told you that people hated you for your smile? That even if you only wanted to make people's lives better, they would bitterly reject you? You are aware that small minds could mistake profiteering from a drug dealers pardon, or the pardoning known criminals – not as acts of random kindness? The world, Mrs. Clinton, can be a harsh place for the sensitive and misunderstood: http://theseedsof9-11.com

It matters not whether Hilary or Obama was born in this state or that, whether they grew up rich or poor (take a look--do a little research--from where a great deal of grant money for the poor and not so poor comes from.) Napfta and China are not going away. You are ignorant as can be if you think they will. Both sides of the isle created these trade agreements. Can't you read? Read articles about the history of these agreements. Nafta needs to be fixed--all the candidates know that. Who can actually achieve it? The hostilities for this or that candidate are based on absurdities--a baby picture, a birthplace, a middle name? Grow up. No wonder the framers and the rule makers don't fully trust the public vote.

It's very sad to read the hateful comments for a video of a little girl. Why do you have to bring up her no-good husband? Is he running for president? This is a video of a childhood. Simple as that. If you are bitter because she had a video and you didn't, I understand. But to leave hateful comments about a video of a little girl is mean and rude.

The feminists have gone berserk. Seems like electing a woman to the office of president is more important to them than to wrest our country back from the criminals now in charge. They've said a lot of slanderous things that will not be quickly forgotten. Geraldine Farraro's racist remarks about Sen. Obama is just the lastest unreasoning argument that will have the net effect of repelling people from the Clintons.
