The Swamp

by Rick Pearson

HAMMOND, Ind.—Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton said party leaders are free to voice their feelings about the prolonged race for the nomination but she has no intention to drop her bid and she disagrees that it will take a toll on the eventual nominee.

“There are millions of reasons to continue this race--people in Pennsylvania and Indiana and North Carolina and all of the contests yet to come,” Clinton told reporters after addressing a rally at the Hammond Civic Center.

“This is a very close race and clearly I believe strongly that everyone should have their voices heard and their votes counted, and that includes Michigan and Florida. We have got to resolve the votes of those two states and I think that is imperative. So there is a lot still to be done and I’m looking forward to campaigning hard over the next several months.”

Michigan and Florida lost their convention nominating delegates when their party primaries were moved up in advance of the Feb. 5 “Super Tuesday” contests. Clinton “won” in both states but efforts between the camps of Clinton and Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois to try to reach agreement with Democratic officials in both states on how to make their delegations count at the national convention in Denver have come to naught.

Clinton maintained that the nearly 800 top party officials and members of Congress who make up the superdelegates to the national convention will ultimately decide the nominee since neither the New York senator nor Obama will have crossed the 2,024 delegate threshold needed to sew up the nomination.

“I think that’s a very important fact: Neither one of us can be nominated without super delegates and super delegates should exercise their right and their responsibility to determine who they think would be the best president and who would be the best nominee to defeat John McCain in the fall,” she said. “That’s the way our process is set up. That’s the way it will operate.”

Clinton said the rules applying to super delegates having a right and responsibility to pick the best candidate for president also applies to the regularly elected delegates—those who are pledged to support a particular candidate for nomination. She indicated that delegates elected to support Obama, who outnumber those elected to back Clinton, could end up supporting her based on the outcome of upcoming state contests.

“Every delegate has a responsibility to vote for the person that they believe would be the best candidate and the best president, however they define it,” she said. “That’s what the delegates are going to do and that is something that will evolve over the next several months and I think there will be additional information that will inform those decisions coming from these upcoming contests.”

Clinton disagreed with those who have said the continued contest could end up tearing the Democratic Party apart and said it will “strengthen our eventual nominee.”

‘I just think this spirited exciting contest is a real plus for us and I just don’t have the worries that some people either are talking about or feeling. I think we’ll go on until it’s clear who the nominee is,” she said.

Clinton also disagreed with the assessment that Obama has slowly been gathering support from super delegates in recent weeks while she has not shown significant improvement in her lead among the top party officials.

“I don’t feel that at all. I just see this very differently than all of you apparently do,” she told reporters. While Obama picked up the backing of Sen. Bob Casey (D-Pa.), a super delegate, she noted she has the support of Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell, the recent backing of Rep. John Murtha (D-Pa.) and the mayors of Philadelphia and Pittsburgh.

“I’m thrilled at the support I have,” she said. “I’m pleased that apparently Sen. Obama is going to pay a lot of attention to Pennsylvania and campaign hard. I think that’s good. We’ll have a real spirited election.”

And as for Obama’s description that the Democratic presidential contest has been like a movie that’s gone on too long, Clinton replied, “I like long movies.”

Reacting to the decline of Northwest Indiana’s steel mills, Clinton promised to get tough on foreign dumping of steel, particularly from China. She compared the Bush administration’s fiscal policies as signing a “subprime mortgage on our economy with China as our banker.” China, she said, should be a “trade partner, not a trade master.”

In speaking to Bloomberg television, Clinton also contended she would do a better job of managing the nation’s economy, particularly as it teeters on recession. McCain, she said, “is taking a hands-off approach, which is part of the reason we’re in the mess we’re in” while Obama “hasn’t really added much to the debate.”

Does Hillary really believe Indiana will support a LIAR like her?

What an insult to the people of Indiana and the rest of the country for that matter!

Nobel winner: "Hillary Clinton's 'silly' Irish peace claims"
By Toby Harnden in Washington

"Hillary Clinton had no direct role in bringing peace to Northern Ireland and is a "wee bit silly" for exaggerating the part she played, according to Lord Trimble of Lisnagarvey, the Nobel Peace Prize winner and former First Minister of the province".

Even goofy Tom Cruise is laughing at Hillary these days!

Typical Hillary. All ego.

Let’s face it. No candidate running for office would ever qualify to be Pope. That being said, I was leaning towards Obama prior to the Wright fiasco but now I would definitely vote against him should he run against McCain.

I don’t think Obama harbors the same racist views as this idiot Wright. But if the tables were turned, and Hillary’s pastor was discovered to be making anti-black, anti-Jew, anti-America remarks, it would have been all over for Hillary the very next day the news hit the streets. Jesse and Sharpton would have been frothing at the mouth calling for her resignation, politicians would have been hiding in corners in fear of being associated with Hillary in any way, there would be demands for Hillary to return her library card. Hillary would get absolutely no pass if the tables were turned. Absolutely NONE!

So, why should Obama get a pass on this? Geraldine Ferraro was correct. Obama is where he’s at because he is black. And that’s not a bad thing. People like Obama, Collin Powel, Bill Cosby, Condoleza Rice are………normal people and are not like Jesse, Sharpton, Wright and all the other ‘black leaders’ who do more to foster racism than help eliminate it.

So, if it comes down to Obama and McCain, McCain has my vote. Obama gets no pass from me on the Wright issue. None! Hopefully, we can then get McCain out of there in four years.

If it comes down to Hillary and McCain, Hillary has my vote. Electing McCain means four to eight more years of Bush type rule and no end in sight for Bush’s occupation of Iraq. Plus, I think women have waited long enough for one of them to be president. If not Hillary, I don’t see any women in the near future being able to pull off a presidential bid. I’m not a Hillary fan, but I think us men have screwed up the presidency for a long time. And she certainly can do a better job than Bush. ANYBODY can do a better job than Bush.

Yeah, Clinton likes long movies alright and usually those movies are fictional and involve lots of sniper fire:

If Clinton won't accept the inevitable, at least campaign in a way that helps defeat Bush/McCain III. The Super Delegates should be asked by the DNC to make a united statement that they will support the candidate who best demonstrates the ability to successfully attack McCain. Your get points for attacking Bush/McCain and you lose points for every attack on each other.
The Super Delegates will decide based upon that criteria.

I as well as 3 million others want our votes to count for something!!

Good for her!

Taks that empty suit and his racist pastor all the way to the Denver cleaners!

McCain 08!

"...Clinton 'won' in both states..."

R. Pearson

If you're going to suggest this (even in quotes), you ought to add that Clinton was FOR penalizing MI and FL before she was AGAINST it.

That is, when she didn't think she was going to need MI and FL delegates to win the nomination, she didn't say "boo" about taking away their delegates. She didn't care whether or not MI and FL voters were "disenfranchised." But when it became clear Hillary wasn't going to win the delegate count without MI and FL, she suddenly became the patron saint of penalized delegations.

The reality is that if Hillary had said, "No" to the DNC's decision from the beginning, she could have counted on Obama and others campaigning in both states. And if that had happened, she might have won the majority but she still would behind in the elected delegate count. And at that point she would have had to count on Superdelegates to beat Obama.

As it is, most superdelegates want her to withdraw gracefully so that they can be spared making a difficult choice.

Seeing politicians squirm might make political junkies happy, but most are probably going to resent Hillary for making them take a public stand.

She says she's not quitting but how does anyone know that she's not lying as usual?

I personally don't see the majority of remaining superdelegates endorsing or supporting until the majority of primaries are out of the way. They, like most politicians, will wait to see which way the wind is blowing before making public their position. And that's probably good.

I CALL FOR BARACK OBAMA TO QUIT THE RACE.

THE GOP WILL DESTROY THIS MAN AND HE WILL NEVER WIN THE NOMINATION AGAINST MCCAIN. THE ONLY PERSON WHOSE DIRTY LAUNDRY WE DO KNOW AND THENSOME IS HILLARY's AND SHE IS THE ONLY ONE WHO CAN BEAT JOHN MCCAIN. OBAMA WILL BE CASTRATED BY THE KARL ROVES AND GOP STRATEGISTS, HE SHOULD DROP OUT OF THE RACE otherwise here come the republicans once again

Hillary....Give it up. You're wastng our Democratic time and you'll cost us the White House!

Hillary....Give it up. You're wastng our Democratic time and you'll cost us the White House!

Hillary refuses to admit Obama has proven himself smarter, better organized, and tougher than her and Bubba. She lost, the superdelegates will not overturn the popular vote.

She should either pledge to campaign positively, or suspend her campaign, a la Romney. If Obama goes down via a scandal, she can always ride in on her white horse to save the party. Attacking Obama only helps McCain.

Go Hillary! Millions are with you until the end!

Hillary will win the nomination and the presidency.

Hillary is the best. Obama should quit!

Either candidate needs super delegates. Why not let it go a little longer? Who has anything to lose -- except Obama?

When Hillary tried to wrap things up Feb 4th, was she seeking to disenfranchise all those millions of voters? Or would it then have been called "winning the nomination" even though many states had yet to vote, and obscure but not technically impossible scenarios, such as Obama taking 3/4 of the vote in every remaining contest, still existed?

I'd like to ask the press, every time she or a surrogate explains "the so-called pledged delegates are free to use their judgment" if she is formally releasing her pledged delegates from any obligation to vote for her.

The notion that there is a wider public dying to elect Hillary, and her only problem is being stuck in the Democratic primary where she can't actually win, is backward. So is the notion that a huge mass of superdelegates (around 3-1) would love to endorse her, but feel bashful.

I think Obama is getting a free ride now so he could be clobbered come election time giving the Republicans the White house for at least four more years. It is too transparent.

Hey, Obama!

I've got 5 words for you, my friend: "QUIT BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE."

Some of us don't want another ObamaNation!

We don't want a leader that's "tagged" with Rev. Wright and Louis Farrahkan.

Obama:"If Rev. Wright hadn't retired I would've left the church."

Hey Obama, you could have left after he had said,"God D**N America... you could have left after he said;"Hillary's a white woman, she doesn't know what it's like to be called a N****R! ... you could've left after he insinuated that,"The African-Americans are being systematically targeted for destruction by the "white mans" government. Hell, you could've left anytime you wanted.

But, NO! .. you not only got married by Rev. Wright. Your superior judgment told you to baptize your children in THAT CHURCH!

"Wolf in sheep's clothing"

Using Racial Bigotry as a tool to induce white guilt and moral relativism... "Shame On You Barack Obama, Shame On You!"

If MI and FL delegates are counted, Senator Clinton will be leading the numbers. If a fortune 500 company is looking for a CEO, their board will not select inexpereinced graduate from college. Why USA bigger than any company should select an inexperienced leader? What happened to Senators' judgment when the pastor was so criticaal of America? Why did he not use his so called best judgment and leave the church at that time? Is it a judgment of convenience?

The good news is, she doesn't know if she is telling the truth about staying in the race, because she cannot distinguish fantasy from reality. The bad news is, her husband is an egomaniac who still feels entitled, and is on the campaign trail, promoting McCain, so Obama will lose in the fall. Selfish Clintons want to ensure the White House is available in 4 more years, so they can bring their big money governors and 20 billionaires to strong arm the party into giving them one my term!

Wow ... it's really ridiculous how people are still talking about Obama's pastor ... this guy isn't his personal advisor, people. Did you miss his important, intellectual speech addressing these very issues? I found it refreshing that he spoke candidly about race issues in America, but I fear it went over most people's heads---that's the only reason I can see that it's still an issue.

The party complains when voters are uninvolved and apathetic and now they are complaining over a very close race with high involvement and emotion on the part of the candidates and their respective supporters.

It will divide the party more if they try to strong-arm Senator Clinton into pulling out. I am a strong supporter of hers and if they pressure her to quit or attempt to it will make me less apt to vote for Obama (if he is the ultimate nominee) not more.

This contest is not over, everyone needs to let it play out and quit trying to circumvent the electoral process that this country has in place. If you don't like the process - change the process, but don't try to force the outcome to serve your purpose.

GIVE UP HILLARY , YOU CAN'T LIE UPON A WIN . MCCAIN YOUR TIME HAS PASSED WE NEED YOUTH,AND TRUTH IN THE WHITE HOUSE NOT OLDMAN TIME.NOR LIES FROM SNIPER FIRE. THIS WAR IS OVER. VOTE BARACK OBAMA 2008.YES WE WILL WIN!

If Hillary is not ready to quit, let her concentrate (start concentrating) exclusively on beating McCain rather than destroying Obama. It's time for her to support the Democratic nominee, whoever he or she turns out to be. That goes for Bill, too--EVEN MORE SO! Hillary needs a future, and Bill needs rehabilitation.

Hillary likes long movies?? Let me remind you of one Hillary, its called "Titantic", and shocker - the boat sank at the end of the movie. Get over yourself.

Hillary is a clueless egomaniac. Sad because she is an effective Senator. Bill on the other hand needs a hobby!!!

Hillary can beat McCain, Barack cannot.

Go Hillary Go!!!

Neither candidate should drop out.

Let the states be counted!

"I like long movies...."

Hillary....all class, all the time.

Give them both their credit and let the race continue!!!!!

Go, Hillary, Go!!

I think Hillary can do it! Yes, she can keep her campaign running and help John McCain. You are following the same logic as that screwball Ralph Nader. I'm sure he understands why you continue helping the Republican party. With friends like this who needs enemies?

Yes you can Obama!

People are asking Clinton to drop out because of the delegate math. You can't argue with the math. If Clinton does not win Pennsylvania by 30-40% her chances of winning the nomination diminish even more. It's nearly impossible as it is.

Hillary, you have all my support. You will be the president of the United States. DO NOT GIVE UP OR GIVE IN TO ANY PRESSURE.

I CALL FOR BARACK OBAMA TO GET OUT OF THE RACE. He is an empty shirt. NO SUBSTANCE.

Why is hilary being asked to quit? The poser Obama, who got to the 'top' (A 100 VOTE DIFFERENCE AT THIS POINT IS A DEAD HEAT, KIDS) of the ticket KNOWINGLY by accepting the deceitful votes of Republicans should quit TOMORROW!
it is NUTTY to think that the media story lines that question Obama's authenticity (rightfully) 'come from HIlary'. This is LOONY.

"Why is hilary being asked to quit? The poser Obama, who got to the 'top' (A 100 VOTE DIFFERENCE AT THIS POINT IS A DEAD HEAT, KIDS) of the ticket KNOWINGLY by accepting the deceitful votes of Republicans should quit TOMORROW!"

Huh? Where were these deceitful votes cast? I know about the Limbaugh-motivated Clinton votes in Texas, but maybe you can inform me.

Also, a 130 difference in delegate count means a LOT at this stage. There are only about 10 contests left. Do some research on how delegates are alloted. I admit it's very complicated, but delegates are awarded very proportionally. In other words, Clinton has to have blowout wins in EVERY remaining state, much more than she has done in any state thus far.

"If MI and FL delegates are counted, Senator Clinton will be leading the numbers." Kris

And pigs might fly if they had wings. I suppose if Clinton was allowed to arbitrarily change her vote count in every state, she wouldn't be asking to change the rules that all the candidates agreed to before the election. Seating delegates based on the Florida primary where most candidates did not campaign and the Michigan primary where only Clinton's name was on the ballot would be completely ridiculous. It's time to admit that this pig "won't so much fly as plummet".

This would almost be funny if it wasn't so tragic.

The Clinton campaign is about $5 Million in debt and the people inside the campaign itsself admit that Hillary is already finished but if they quit now the Clinton family would owe a ton of money because they thought when this primary started that Hillary would have the nomination locked up by Feb 5th. Hillary should have fired her campaign manager, Mark Penn, a long time ago, just for being a dumbarse.
The people who still support Hillary with campaign donations are being used by the Clinton's to pay off the Clinton campaign debt.
The Clinton's, just like the Bush's, don't care about the "little people", it's all about them getting power, nothing more, nothing less.

Bill wants to rule again in his own special way...Hill can't stand to lose...between the 2 of them, tearing the democratic party down is an after thought...it's all about them...Obama would not consider HRC as a running mate, Hillary would name BO as a VP mate in a minute, it would give her the best shot at winning...

OBAMA LIES IN PENNSYLVANIA ADS:
From NBC/NJ’s Aswini Anburajan
GREENBURG, Pa. -- The Clinton campaign today accused the Obama campaign of "false advertising," claiming that a recent ad Obama released in Pennsylvania was disngenous because Obama has been the recipient of more than $200,000 from the oil and gas industry.
In the ad, Obama says, "I'm Barack Obama, and I don't take money from oil companies or lobbyists, and I won't let them block change any more."
Obama has taken $213,884 from the oil and gas industry as of Feb. 29th, according to the Center for Responsive Politics. Sen. Hillary Clinton has taken $306,813 in that same period.
Two of Obama's campaign bundlers are also CEOs for oil and gas companies, per a list released on his campaign Web site.
Robert Cavnar, listed as a bundler who has raised between $50,000 to $100,000 for the campaign, is the chairman and CEO of Mission Resources Corp., a Houston-based firm. George Kaiser, also listed in the same $50,000 to $100,000 category, is the CEO of Tulsa-based Kaiser-Francis Oil Company.
"It's unfortunate that Senator Obama is using false advertising to explain why he can be trusted to do something about energy prices," Clinton spokesman Phil Singer said. "Senator Obama says he doesn't take campaign contributions from oil companies but the reality is that Exxon, Shell, and others are among his donors."

Hillary should stay in the race. Obama and his cronies are frightening and he is too insubstantial to be a leader. He has no original ideas and his candidacy will only keep race baiting active, giving the White House to the republicans..

My neighbors and friends were going to vote for Barack, but then they heard about Rezko, illegal drug use and Rev. Wright.

They hate Hillary....so now, they're going to vote for McCain...a true American War Hero...unlike, Bill...Ooops, (i mean) Hillary or Barack.

What reparations will make it even? WHAT SHOULD WE DO FOR THIS PAYBACK? Make a black guy president even though he is not qualified! sounds a lot like affirmative action! WOW SOUNDS A LOT LIKE JOHN KERRY.

Hillary is making this movie a horror story for Democrats and a comedy for Republicans. Funny how the Bush/Clinton era has been the most toxic and divisive years in politics. Hillary should bow out gracefully to spare her party the agony of defeat but Hillary only cares about special interests and Hillary.

HILLARY, YOU ARE BEING ASK TO STEP DOWN BECAUSE YOU ARE DESTROYING THE DEMOCRATS CHANCE TO WIN THE GE. YOU are taking the energy and integrity from the party. Your negatives are too high to ever beat McCain. You take more $$ from special interests than any other candidate People are tired of Bush-Clinton-Bush politics of division and lies. Have some self respect and do the right thing for your party.

It seemed like--for once--the Democrats might retake the White House. Mrs. Clinton's destructive campaign is bad news for all. She won't win--and by flinging mud she'll do her best to see that no other Democrat can.
Of course she likes long, tragic movies in which good protagonists die agonizing deaths. But it's time for the voters and superdelegates to say no to this travesty.

I love loooong Civil War Movies....and I'm watching one now in real time, it's called, 'The Democrats Unleashed.'

Did Karl Rove write this script? I give it two thumbs up...

Let's enjoy this slaughter till Denver.

I hate to burst your bubble but...I din't think he's going anywhere but the White House!!!

p.s. Hillary likes long movies. Long boring horrible, sleezy movies.

If the Clinton campaign was a movie I'd leave within five minutes, but alas it's not a movie. It's a HORROR SHOW!

Geraldinetoo, it's not a 100 vote difference, it's a 119 delegates which is a lot when every state is split, no winner take all. It'll be a sad day if Clinton gets the superdelegates to decide the nominee not the people. It'll be an ugly message to black people that no matter how close you get, the Presidency can be taken away from you.

Randy, the First Amendment which allows for free exercise of religion and reasonable unabridged speech. Has Obama ever said anything in his life that sounded like Reverend Wright's remarks. No!! Obama is a person of integrity that can have friends with strong opinions and maintain a moderate position. It's so easy to condemn someone or write them off. Try understanding where someone is coming from and if you don't like it, then you can get out, change the channel or find new friends.

Actually, I think 'geraldinetoo ' is wrong. Republicans, until recently, would prefer Hillary to get the Dem nod. They feel she is the easy target. But now with Obama and his racist pastor flap, that might change things. I think Obama is toast!

On reflecting on the questions of true leadership, I am often tempted to turn to the Bible or Socrates'life or Shakespeare or Francis Bacon or Tolstoy’s depiction of Kutuzov. But we live in an age dominated by American pop culture – especially the pop philosophy and aesthetics of Hollywood. And Hilary is right to say "I love long movies". The difference is that the world is more than just a movie, notwithstanding, this is where we must begin. In our age youths no longer try to read Francis Bacon's The Essays or Tolstoy's War and Peace. People nowadays turn to fiction in films. So be it.
For me the greatest actor in our days is Anthony Hopkins, but Al Pacino could often shine brilliantly. In the climax of the film Scent Of Woman, Lt. Frank Slade, remarkably played by Al Pacino, was forced to defend truth and expose on leadership. The paradox of corrupt leadership in the film is depicted when Trask refers to Charlie, Mr. Sims, as “a cover-up artist and a liar”. And Frank Slade rightly retorts: “This is such a crock of shit!”
Hilary now assures her party: “we are going to be fine”. I don’t think so. She and her husband have destroyed the vital parts of the ship already. You do not resort to the path of calumny and then say “We are going to be fine”. What type of model are they serving their daughter, when they seek to destroy their comrade by canvassing for McCain?
In the words of Frank Slade, “…when the bough breaks, the cradle will fall”. I think that policy makers and architects of political discourse must be careful the path they use to reach their goals. Without principles, without truthfulness, integrity and even the courage to lose with grace, you’re only laying false foundations for future disasters. For these virtues are the stuff true leaders are made of. A good politician like Blair abandoned this path and chose rather to tie his wagon to a mediocre (Bush) and resorted to the path of deception and lies. History will judge Blair severely. The path is as important as the journey's end. To rephrase the words of Al Pacino, the world is telling Americans, including the Clintons, that they hold Obama’s political destiny in their hands. It promises great things for America and the world. Don't mess it up, protect and embrace it. “It's going to make you proud one day...I promise you.“

Long boring movies that are WAY TO LONG!

I think Obama is getting a free ride now so he could be clobbered come election time giving the Republicans the White house for at least four more years. It is too transparent.
Posted by: Al Wordman | March 28, 2008 11:08 PM

No Al, what’s transparent is you and several other posters here that are obviously GOP hacks, pushing for Hillary because you know that when Obama gets the nomination McCain won’t stand a chance. Obama’s far superior skills with the spoken word will make mincemeat out of McCain in a debate, and the GOP knows it.

I am one of the Obama supporters that will cross the line and vote for another candidate if Hillary wins. I may not vote for McCain, but Hillary will not get my vote.

Based on recent polls conducted, about 20% of obama supporters said they'd vote for McCain. Hillary is a VERY Polarizing personality. You can count on MANY more Republicans coming out to vote IF she is nominated. I believe the religious right will get solidly behind McCain AND pull out the largest vote they've ever seen to make sure Hillary isn't elected.

I also believe many of the "new voters" brought in by Obama will bail and not vote in November. So, you just lost another 10-20% of the votes cast for Obama. Also count another 5% that just won't vote in November that voted in the primaries. That's about 30-40% of the potential voters from Obama that would vote for McCain. People that is a VERY large number. You can't win with those odds.

I don't see the RR coming out as strongly for McCain if he runs against Obama. I believe that McCain's own ideals will keep them from voting for him in this case. Obama is a relative unknown when it comes to voting for him, but Hillary has a track record AND her last name is Clinton, which also throws weight in for people to vote AGAINST her. Far more would do that based on name alone than would vote FOR her because of her husband.

If the democrats want to lose heavily, nominate Hillary Clinton. If they want to have a fighting chance in November, keep pressuring Bush and nominate Obama for the Democratic Nominee for President!!!

The irony is that a lot of Clinton supporters think Obama is all celebrity and no substance. Yet they want the Clinton-approved disqualification of the MI and FL primaries to count now - even though those were "popularity" contests, not political contests.

Had Obama campaigned in MI and FL, he would have closed the gap quickly and any victory by Clinton would have only slightly eaten into his elected-delegate lead.

Hillary's problem, really, is that she lacks foresight BIG TIME!

Think about it, Clintonistas. Your candidate has been wrong on every issue, and yet you continue praise her "EXPERIENCE."

Wrong on bringing parties together to pass healthcare in the 90s. Wrong on trusting Team Bush's judgment prior to the war. And wrong on running a "big states only" campaign.

Obama has outsmarted her at every turn. So much so that the biggest strike against him are his associations.

Heck, if associations were going to be the ruin of every candidate, not even the Pope could get elected.

In the last three elections, including this one, the republican candidate was eminently beatable and the democrats managed to find the ONE candidate that they could beat.

Hillary Clinton - incredible negatives, a proven liar over and over - bullets in Bosnia, which sounds like a Woody Allen movie, helping win the peace in Ireland, etc., plus incredibly high negatives with most voters. Etc.

Barack Obama - The most liberal member of the U.S. Semate, stands by a racist, white-hating pastor, speaks glowingly of moveon.org, an organization that has by implication called General David Petraeus a traitor.
etc.

John McCain - nothing really inspiring about him but compared to the above?

This is a shame because America does seem ready for some change but not the democratic kind, and that is a shame.

Evan Bayh

Long movies?

Camp Hillary desperation is more like a horror show.

Nowadays, you can fast forward long movies.

Obama is a WEAK nominee. The only one strong enough to defeat John McCain ni the general is Hillary Clinton.

This is ridiculous... claimes for Clinton to quit when she is going to win PA handily, along with other important states.

Clinton should be the nominee.

GET OUT OF RACE OBAMA!
OBAMA IS UNELECTABLE IN GENERAL ELECTION. With each new utterance on the topic of Reverend Wright, Barack Obama seems to confirm his own moral obliviousness. Worse yet, he seems to have disdain for those who are troubled by his own unwillingness to break with Wright. But it gets worse. Obama insists Wright is “a brilliant man who was still stuck in a time warp.” So brilliant, apparently, that he has uncovered the plot by white America to kill African Americans and so insightful as to perceive the 9/11 attacks as caused by America’s own terrorism. Then there was his discerning observation that Israel is a “dirty” word. And after all this, still Wright, in Obama’s eyes, is brilliant. This, we are told by the legions of Obamaphiles, is not supposed to affect voters’ view of Obama’s judgment. perhaps they are just embarrassed to tell pollsters they are privately offended. But in a general election contest this is not going to go unnoticed, we will see Republicans and many independents are irked by this moral obtuseness. Do not believe what you see on CNN or Hardball. Easy to see already see Republican attack ads against Obama, especially since he just came out again yesterday defending Wrights hateful Racism and attacks on white America. Is he an idiot? First open with videos of racist wife, Michelle, saying she was proud of America "for the first time" because of her husband's presidential candidacy, next Obama explaining that he doesn't wear an American flag lapel pin or hold his hands to his heart during the Pledge of Allegiance because it is a "substitute for true patriotism." Then flash a clip of Obama explaining that his Caucasian grandmother was a "typical white person" because she uttered racial epithets and was afraid of black people. Finally, the coup de grace, pictures of Obama's angry, arm-waving preacher blaming the United States for 9/11 and shouting "God Damn America" to the rafters of Chicago's Trinity United Church of Christ and preaching the U.S. government formulated the HIV AIDS virus to commit genocide against blacks. Even though Obama supposedly condemning Wright's shocking verbal assaults against the U.S and White Americans, even last year; Obama was the first to public ally demand Don Imus ouster for making a racially insensitive remark, and Obama continues to support Wrights racism and remains at the church for more than 20 years, he and Michelle obviously feels it’s a good environment to expose his young daughters too. His opinions and issues change with the weather, he is too UNSTABLE and proven he cannot make a decision or stay with one.

If that’s not enough, then you start showing his terrible senate voting record, Obama when faced with tough choices always gave in to pressure from the Bush administration or corporate lobbyists, Obama dealings with one of his largest contributors, Exelon, a big nuclear power company and the deals he cut behind closed doors to protect them from full disclosure in the nuclear industry. Obamas record shows he infact did support the war when he got to the senate, voted twice against bringing America's troops back home. He voted for war appropriations giving our money to Halliburton and Blackwater where Texas woman, was gang-raped by her co-workers at a Halliburton/KBR camp in Baghdad, His latest bit of posturing S 433 allows the Bush Administration to suspend any troop withdrawal, if not suspended, keeps the troops in Iraq for a long time to come, but in his camp stumps touts he wants to bring troops home, but as we have witnessed his recent lies to voters like Canada he cannot be trusted on his word and lastly ALL the corrupt indicted financial backers, like Rezko…Get out of the race Obama you are destroying the democratic party!

So Hillary likes long movies, but does she love her country more that she could sacrifice the ending and leave the theater early for, let's say, a greater good, the good of her country. She has asked another to leave a church for, the greater good, (I think her reason was the greter good) as she would have done if given the chance. Here is a chance for her to walk her talk by walking.

I was at the Hammond rally and waited almost four hours to see her and it was worth it! I'm glad I went and heard her in person and saw and felt the enthusiasm of the crowd and the officials behind her. The people loved her and her high energy and positive energy. She has solid, intelligent plans to improve the lives of the middle class and believes in accountability. This country's businesses and highways are being sold off to foreign countries. We borrow from China to buy oil from the Saudis. Poisoned pet food, lead tainted toys, and other personal products from China are not being tested. We are selling our highways, factories and real estate. The USA, including its defense industry, is up for sale. Subsidized cheap steel has been allowed to be dumped here to harm our steel mills and related industries. She mentioned a factory that made special magnets used to guide missiles to their targets. China was allowed to buy the business and then ship it back to China. So from now on those specialized guidance systems will be manufactured by China. Our defense and security are now at risk. We won't know until we actually have to fire a missile if it will go where intended. Would any other country on earth turn their missile guidance systems over to a possible future enemy? Hillary would not have allowed this to happen. She told the story of a young woman who worked at a pizza parlor with pregnancy complications who had no health insurance. Twice she went to the hospital begging for help, but was turned down because it wasn't an emergency--yet. She was told she must produced a hundred dollars to even be examined, which did not include treatment, even antibiotics. By the time it was an emergency, it was too late. The baby died, and she died five weeks later at a cost to taxpayers of hundreds of thousands of dollars. Hillary cares, and this woman's death haunts her. This country is being managed poorly. I want someone who is intelligent, patriotic, experienced, God fearing, and compassionate to be our next President, and that person is Hillary R. Clinton.

I agree with Hillary that “Every delegate has a responsibility to vote for the person that they believe would be the best candidate and the best president, however they define it.” Obama, the man of many lies and stolen words, has dropped his mask, and it isn't pretty. It looks like Rev. Wright, his mentor and spiritual leader, a man of hate and unChristian theology. There are millions of voters now with buyer's remorse realizing they voted for the wrong candidate in the primaries. The delegates and superdelegates must vote according the present situation and the thoughts and feelings of people NOW as new information becomes available. Delegates have the responsibility to choose the best candidate to govern this nation, and that is Hillary R. Clinton.

Like long Movies? How about long SCARY movies? How about long scary movies with hideous Medusa like monsters with ugly red evil eyes and big sharp teeth spouting fiery poisonous rhetoric...ah er VENOM and slithering on five foot wide a--...er snake belly scaly...ugly...Oh Hell let's just call it "ATTACK OF THE 11 MONTH HILLARY!" Coming soon to a primary near you. EEEEeeeeeKKK!

Money talks. Corporate America certainly doesn't want a dark horse candidate running off with the race after having spent many years and millions of dollars cultivating candidates like Clinton and McCain. Hillary will not pull out of the race so long as there's a viable candidate other than McCain.

As an answer to the question "Why is Hillary being asked to quit?", perhaps those controlling this year's results have decided Obama's no longer a viable candidate. If the race is adequately close that it can be made to appear McCain has won in November regardless of the democratic candidate, why fund both Hillary and McCain? It would make more financial sense to fund only McCain's campaign.

As we all recall from the last election, "It's not the votes that count, but who counts the votes." With electronic voting machines, super delegates, and the electoral college to muddy the waters, nobody will know who really won in November. It will once again be decided by the organization with the deepest pockets.

God Bless America.

I did miss his supposedly intellectual speach. I chose not to listen to more of his propaganda and lies. But I see that Wright is being rewarded by the church giving him a 10 million dollar house to retire into. So obama is still associated with a church that is still associated with Wright. By the way, I thought churches were supposed to be non-profit. What is the 10 million that is paying for Wrights house? PROFIT? Shouldn't that money be used to promote the doctrine of the church? And by the way shouldn't the church lose their non-profit status for preaching politics from the pulpit? I think obama could have a great career as elder in the church and forget the presidency.

I will be surprised if this shows up in print. So far one of every ten comments from me show up.

Dude, what was you major in college? Dork? Obama has proven that he's far and away the superior candidate. People who know him say stupid crap and then your ilk tries to "Pin it" on him only it doesn't stick. He IS like Reagan in that he seems to have a coating of teflon. And he's directly responded to every half baked allegation, and pretty much weathered and come through evey challenge to date. But the REAL truth is that you don't find a lot of dirty laundry because there really isn't much there (as opposed to the Clinton's whose entire political career is based on outrage after outrage). The Guys got Charisma, the guys got intellect (that's what the REAL problem is for voters like YOU isn't it?), and the guys NOT so arrogant that he thinks he knows it all (Ala Hillary). He's willing to listen to what the best minds in the country and the world have to say and to temper his decisions with the input and advice of those who really DO know their business. Hillary? Got three words for ya sport, "NOT GONNA HAPPEN!" She'll do what SHE wants to do from the minute she gets in (THANK GOD that will never actually happen), and if you think she gives a rodents posterior about YOU then you're nuttier than a Squirrel T---. But just like the rest of the totally DEMENTED Hillary cult you just blab this ridiculous drivel about how she's the EXALTED one and Obama needs to step aside for her Majestic size XXXXXXL A--. Well dream on "Donald" cuz de-nile ain't just a river in Egypt. If she wants to hang Allright, because barring some really major insider coup maybe orchestrated by slick Willy (which I personally don't believe even HE can pull off) she's gonna get her butt kicked worse than a narc at a bike rally. So you and the girls just pull on your little Hilly bonnets and rush right out there and show your support. Because without the help of poor gullible fools like you, she wouldnt be able to get ANYONE to listen to her BS AT ALL!

No way Hil quits. She will hang on until she wins or there are absolutely no possible avenues to win. She and Bill believe they are owed the presidency and deserve to take residence in the White House.

Yes Hillary is like a long movie.

A bad sequel that most people get up and leave before it's over. She is kinda Hollywood "full of herself".

While I regard Hillary as harsh and unpleasant, I have never questioned her intelligence and ability.

Now, in light of her remarks, I find myself questioning that assumption too.

This is the third presidential election that I have been able to vote in. In each case, it seems that I am faced with two choices: bad and worse. So even though I voted for Bush twice because I thought he would be the "lesser of two evils", I reflect on those votes daily as I face the same thing again this year.

Now before you start flaming this post, I ask that you hear me out. Since I was 16, I feel that I do not fit in either as a true conservative or a true progressive. I find great ideas from both and can disagree with both. But you know what? I am one of those who is willing to give change a chance. IMO, McCain and Clinton are not that. So if he does get the nomination, I will give Obama my vote.

Do I know whether that's good or not? Some people may not like my two previous votes or my plans for this year, but it is my hope that we can find someone that can unite us before the partisan politics rip this country apart. And for those who may ask -- If Obama does not get the nomination, I will probably look at other candidates or do a write-in, because I cannot in good conscience place my vote for McCain or Clinton.

It's OK to have different views -- but at some point, we have to come together and compromise and provide ACTION, not just political granstanding. Too much is happening for this great country to stand by and just make great theater, so to speak. Thank you all for your time.

Terry had some great points, but here are some more:

Barack's wife has made several anti-American speeches. Afterward, his spin doctors said her comments were taken out of context. This right after he plagerized a supporter's speech about the importance of words.

His Rezco ties, not nearly as bad as Clinton's Whitewater, Travelgate, and cattle futures, but troubling nonetheless.

Then his most recent comments on the "View" that he would have left that church now, if Rev. WRight had Wright had made those comments now and not retracted them.

A man's (or women's) true character is revealed by what they do when no one is watching. When no one was watching, it was apparantly fine to attend a racist, anti-American church.

Now he pander, has American flags and says "God Bless America"

What a phony.

I can't belive Im saying this, but Clinton is much more preferable.

But as Jay Leno said, these two only stop fightling long enough to say, they can unite this country.

What an embarassment these two are.

Obama is NOT for poor people, or middle class people.
He's a charlatan, an opportunist.
Republicans and Obama supporters could intimidate (even if they did not want to) people into 'voting' for him in the caucuses. How can you vote your mind if you oppose your boss?
Obama's a FAKE who used the Chicago church to 'become black'.
Question--why they hiding the white banker grandmama who 'rescued' him from a truly liberal upbringing in Jakarta?
Obama is for poor people? that's why he let Rezko ruin 100 million of housing for poor people in his state district?
Obama never really WORKED for anything in his life--he worked for ANYONE who would help him rise---
¬Like Emil Jones
Like Rezko
Like Daley
Like the U of C mafia that pretends it's liberal but is really something out of a cointelpro nightmare
Like AiPAC
Like "My friend Joe Liebermann'
Obama keeps it up, he'll be lucky to stay an Illnois Senator.
We'll be like the Republicans who voted him up in Iowa, IN NH --won't say anything lest we FALSELY be called racist.
But Obama andMichelle apparently already fled the country (legally, with secret service help apparently) TO STASH ALL THAT OIL AND GAS, NUKES, COAL, WAR MACHING money offshore.
They were stashing their dough, lounding on the beach, consultimng with attorneys about the Rezko revelationn about the health care committee composition that the media is ignoring fo rnow while Hilary was making 'speeches' called soundbites by the media about a 30 billion dollar bailout plan for cities harmed by the sub prime stuff.
Obama comes back, steals her ideas, and gets credited with giving a 'great speech.
WAKE UP!.

Obama's new ad for Indiana says he will not take $$$ from Lobbyists...REALLY??

JUDAS IS ALIVE, WELL, IN THE U.S. SENATE

WHAT HAPPENED TO HIS ILLINOIS CONSTITUENTS?

Nuclear Leaks and Response Tested Obama in Senate

By MIKE McINTIRE
Published: February 3, 2008 Read complete story at NY Times

When residents in Illinois voiced outrage two years ago upon learning that the Exelon Corporation had not disclosed radioactive leaks at one of its nuclear plants, the state's freshman senator, Barack Obama, took up their cause.

Mr. Obama scolded Exelon and federal regulators for inaction and introduced a bill to require all plant owners to notify state and local authorities immediately of even small leaks. He has boasted of it on the campaign trail, telling a crowd in Iowa in December that it was "the only nuclear legislation that I've passed."

"I just did that last year," he said, to murmurs of approval.

A close look at the path his legislation took tells a very different story.

While he initially fought to advance his bill, even holding up a presidential nomination to try to force a hearing on it, Mr. Obama eventually rewrote it to reflect changes sought by Senate Republicans, Exelon and nuclear regulators. The new bill removed language mandating prompt reporting and simply offered guidance to regulators, whom it charged with addressing the issue of unreported leaks.

Those revisions propelled the bill through a crucial committee. But, contrary to Mr. Obama's comments in Iowa, it ultimately died amid parliamentary wrangling in the full Senate.

The history of the bill shows Mr. Obama navigating a home-state controversy that pitted two important constituencies against each other and tested his skills as a legislative infighter. On one side were neighbors of several nuclear plants upset that low-level radioactive leaks had gone unreported for years; on the other was Exelon, the country's largest nuclear plant operator and one of Mr. Obama's largest sources of campaign money.

So the Lobbyist becomes a fund raiser, then milks workers in the industry to contribute to the campaign....no footprint of Lobbyist!

We are American Democrats, and we are NOT STUPID OBAMA....we want a real and electable person-candidate, NOT A SYMBOL OF ANY KIND!

HILLARY ALL THE WAY!!

To Beth:
You're right Beth, Obama's preacher is not his "personal advisor" - he's his SPIRITUAL ADVISOR, and that is even more SCARY. And I have quite an extensive education, thank you, and I understood every word of Obama's speech. He took a HATE issue and morphed it into a RACE issue. That's what he is so good at - lying right before your eyes. Just like George Bush - full of hot air and no substance. He knows no one will push the issue for fear of recrimination from the black community.

The GOP is going to chew him up and spit him out if he gets the nod.

Hillary '08!

R. Pearson wrote: If you're going to suggest this (even in quotes), you ought to add that Clinton was FOR penalizing MI and FL before she was AGAINST it.

/////////
R. Pearson: First, I don't believe that Hillary didn't care about Florida and Michigan voters being disenfranchised. About Hillary wanting Florida and Michigan votes to count – I don't blame her. She and Obama probably had to agree to "punish" the two states for breaking the rules. If they didn't agree, people would have criticized them for not caring about following the party's rules.

Also, what kind of a party leader is Howard Dean that he wasn't able to stop or fix the fiasco of having two of our 50 states excluded from the voting? He knew that Florida would have probably gone to Clinton -- and that's why he just let the fiasco happen. Even the republicans are seating half of their delegates. Why wasn't Dean willing to do that too? The answer is that he has "Obamamania" and is trying to influence this election.

Have we ever had two weaker candidates?
It's really getting hard to stay a Democrat.
We should have a new person in '12, I just hope the powers that be put a little time into finding someone who is honest and can deliver a speech with substance instead of just theatrics.

Pride goeth before the fall.
Oops - she never had any pride to goeth.

HILLARY: for once in your life show a little class and GO AWAY. It's impossible for you to win. If you don't know enough math to figure that out, you need to go back to grade school.

Go Hillary!!

Go Hillary. Stay in the race as long as you have to, to sew up this race and get that nomination.

You prove yourself with each passing day that you are strong and capable to deflect all the hate and negativity - that is the mark of a President to lead such a large Democracy like ours.

Go Hillary, 2008!!

Hillary has been obsessed with gaining POWER for mostg of her life. In high school she ran for student council president and LOST to a man. She never forgot that.

Her power-lust has turned her into a sociopath since high school. She and Bill have a partnership in pursuit of POWER at any cost, and they do whatever they need to do to attain this. It doesn't matter to them who they hurt, or how much they lie and cheat.

We, the voters, need to do whatever we can to rid our country of politicians like the Clintons.

Write, call and email your congressmen, senators and governers. Tell them how you feel and that you WILL NOT TOLERATE a long, protracted and UGLY campaign from Hillary and that you DEMAND that they STAND UP AND CALL FOR HER TO BOW OUT OF THE RACE!!!

When I think of Senator Barack Obama, I wonder if he thinks I am a fool! To think that the American people is so foolish and got things so wrong regarding Rev Wright. He himself should know better. If I as a Black American attended a church that spoke of hatred and things of that nature. Without hesitation I would have confronted the pastor either in person or through a written letter. And I do not have to hear the 1 hour sermon to know certain things are wrong.

Putting that aside for now, I am thinking of experience, I urge people to please be careful for what you wish for when you think of voting for Senator Barack Obama. Look at the issues our country is currently dealing with. We need a fighter, someone who is strong and can make things happen. I am awfully concerned and worried.

I was sick to learn Clinton twisted the truth and blammed the Obama camp of contacting Cannada and saying wink, wink don't worry about the NAFTA coments that was just politics when it was in fact, her campaign that did so.

Does Ohio now realize that they voted for her and yet, she does not have their best interests at heart? That in essence, she used them to win their 'Big State'? I wonder if they realize they've been dupped. Again.

Her words 'Shame on you SENATOR OBAMA' still resonates

How cunning. She brings new meaning to the words, by any means necessary.

Senator Hillary Clinton, you are the best HOPE that our country have.
