At a news conference at the Train Depot in Hattiesburg, Miss., where she held a rally to finish a two-day trip to Mississippi, where she is not expected to fare well in Tuesday’s primary, Sen. Hillary Clinton said Obama’s campaign did the right thing by separating itself from Samantha Power, Obama's former foreign-policy aide, who called Clinton a "monster" in an interview.
But Clinton said Power raised more troubling issues than name-calling in an earlier interview with the BBC which she said raises questions about whether the Illinois senator is once again telling voters one thing while aides tell people outside the country something else.
Here's a transcript of the press conference. Note: Questions are paraphrased. Answers are not.
“I want to say a few words to start about something that one of Sen. Obama’s top foreign policy aides told the BBC recently about Iraq. Sen. Obama has made his speech opposing Iraq in 2002 and the war in Iraq is the core of his campaign, which makes these comments especially troubling. While Sen. Obama campaigns on his plan to end the war, his top advisors tell people abroad that he will not rely on his own plan, should he become president.“This is the latest example of promising the American people one thing on the campaign trail and telling people in other countries another. We saw this with NAFTA as well. He’s attacked me continuously for having no hard exit date and now we learned that he doesn’t have one. In fact, he doesn’t have a plan at all, according to his top foreign-policy advisor. If he keeps telling people one thing while his campaign tells people abroad something else, I’m not sure what the American people should believe.”
Clinton went on to quote from a BBC interview with Power that is on Politico.
“Well I’ve made a commitment and I’ve made a commitment based on the best military and intelligence advice that I have, which is one of the reasons why there are 35 generals and admirals…are supporting me to be the next president.”
Q. Advisor stepped down for calling you a monster. React?
HRC: Well I think sen. Obama did the right thing, but I think it’s important to look at what she and his other advisors say behind closed doors, particularly when they’re talking to foreign governments and foreign press. It raises disturbing questions about what the real planning and policy positions inside the Obama campaign happen to be.
Q. Well if conditions are different on the ground, your plan may not work.
HRC: No, I don’t think so. I’m committed to beginning a withdrawal within 60 days. I’ve said that consistently. I’ve also said that I thought we could take out one or two brigades a month. That’s something I said before anyone else, based on the military advice I received. And, I never have deviated.
Q. How is being called a monster any different than Obama camp being called ken starr?
HRC: You know, I am, you know, very focused on this campaign and you’ve made the comparison between those two…
Q. You’re spokesman made that comparison.
HRC: I think one is an ad hominem attack and one is a historical reference.
Q. But he said that he did not see how anybody imitating Ken Starr would win the Democratic nomination.
HRC: Well, I think that is a true statement.
Q. When Bob Johnson raised the issue of Sen. Obama’s drug use, you didn’t act quickly on that.
HRC: Well, we did repudiate it and he apologized.
Q. There was no repudiation immediately. Immediately, your campaign said he was talking about community organizing. Then he came out and said he was actually referring to his drug use and no one heard anything else from your campaign.
HRC: Well no, yes you did. You said he apologized and we accepted his apology.
Q. Can you win these two states (Miss and Wyo)?
HRC: I think that I start with a pretty steep, uphill climb, but I really wanted to come. I wanted to come here. I have friends here. I have associations. I used to come across the border to Mississippi all the time. … I wanted to come and I wanted people here in the state to know that they’ll have a friend and a partner in the White House. And I’ve already done work that has helped the people of Mississippi. … There’s so many things that I’ve already done that have an impact on the people of Mississippi and I’d like to build on that work, so, I hope to persuade as many voters as possible to come out and vote for me on Tuesday.
Earlier, during the event, she raised the “dream ticket” concept.
HRC: Today is a big day and it’s an exciting contest. Who would have thought that either a woman or an African American, let alone both of us, vying for the Democratic nomination for the presidency of the United States. This is a moment of historic celebration for America, but you’ve got to make a choice. A lot of people wish they didn’t have to. I’ve had people say I wish I could vote for both of you. Well, that might be possible some day. But first, I need your vote on Tuesday.

First, did Obama say he would not rely on his own plans to get us out of Iraq? Hm, I'd like to see or hear that. Obama needs to address that right away. Second,
there she goes again, invoking "...or an African American...". Why does she speak for Obama like she's his mother, she isn't and she ought to stop. She's as racist as they come using these codes to signal and reignite to all that Obama's African American. She's doing the same thing her husband did by invoking Jesse Jackson that since Jesse Jackson won SC 'Obama should do well there too.' Ugghh!! She needs to step down and now! And yes Wolfson should quit for his Ken Starr comment.

From the BBC interview with Samantha Power, more proof that Obama's closest advisers admit he's blowing smoke on Iraq:
"She was challenged on Obama's Iraq plan, as it appears on his website, which says that Obama "will remove one to two combat brigades each month, and have all of our combat brigades out of Iraq within 16 months."
"What he's actually said, after meting with the generals and meeting with intelligence professionals, is that you - at best case scenario - will be able to withdraw one to two combat brigades each month. That's what they're telling him. He will revisit it when he becomes president," Power says.
The host, Stephen Sackur, challenged her: "So what the American public thinks is a commitment to get combat forces out in 16 months isn't a commitment isn't it?"
"You can't make a commitment in March 2008 about what circumstances will be like in January of 2009," she said. "He will, of course, not rely on some plan that he's crafted as a presidential candidate or a U.S. Senator. He will rely upon a plan – an operational plan – that he pulls together in consultation with people who are on the ground to whom he doesn't have daily access now, as a result of not being the president. So to think - it would be the height of ideology to sort of say, 'Well, I said it, therefore I'm going to impose it on whatever reality greets me.'"
"It's a best-case scenario," she said again."

Hillary would NEVER CALL Obama "A MONSTER!"
Yeah, Obama did use illicit drugs... it's in his book.
But, why would Obama's "former" Foreign Policy Adviser call Hillary a MONSTER?
Sen. Obama is not what his "public persona" portraits him as... I'm switching my vote to Hillary.
How would you like it some called you a MONSTER?
Shame On You! You should've told Samantha Powers... YOU'RE FIRED!

Not surprisingly Clinton is engaging in the same type of duplicity that she is blaming Obama for. The Canadian media is on top of the story, but the American media is not. www.theglobeandmail.com posted a story claiming that Clinton's aides have been telling Canadian officials not to worry, that they should take her NAFTA comments "with a grain of salt"

Hillary has this exceptional talent to twist anything to suit her means.... Why isn't the press following up on her campaign contacting the Canadian government referring to the Nafta issue. Take it with a grain of salt... I think was the term used. I would have to take anythiung she says with Castor oil.

Every lie she tells that the press reports is taken by people as truth. Most Americans won't take the time to research whether she's lying or not - it is up to you to VET her.

Hillary has held every last one of her aides accountable for this kind of thing, Obama has shown every time on the other hand what he would do as President, protect his cronies and never fire them and hold them accountable!! just like Bush!! Voting for Barrack Obama is a HUGE mistake! Hillary Clinton has the integrity to lead honestly and fairly as this one of many examples like it once again proves.

You people are pathetic…I'm sick of hearing all of you blubber on about how Clinton is going to destroy the Democratic party - BO is an unvetted novice. The Republican party will slaughter him in the general if he's our nominee - please educate yourselves about his "friendly" relationship (Obama's words) with William Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn - vocal and unrepentant domestic terrorists in the Weather Underground, or his membership in a racist church led by Jeremiah Wright Jr - If you thought Willie Horton was bad for us - or thought John Kerry was "Swiftboated" you ain't seen nothing yet. NObama! and remember - Actions speak louder than words.

Obama supports funneling our limited public school money to his private religious school friends. Since there is barely enough public school money as it is, I think this is bad policy whether done by Bush or by Obama. Keep public school money where it belongs.

First, if the Obama supporters here reflect the Obama message, I want no part of it. I thought it very interesting that a poster here called his image a "facade" and another asked for the "Street Fighter" to resume his work. These are very telling comments as to who he may be and who his supporters are. If you all will go chack with the real news and not rely on MSNBC or the Daily Kos for the "truth" you can discover that the Canadian minister is standing by his story about the Goolsby contact. Senator Clinton said a few weeks back that she gave Canada blanket immunity to release the name of anyone who contacted them. And what do we have besides someone here saying it was "Bubba." Now, the politics of Hope and Change is YOUR deal, it's YOUR message, and the venom that is spewed on these sites, when anyone DARE QUESTION Senator Obama is remarkable. For goodness sakes, he is running for the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES!. That the people nor the media can ask questions and actually take a good look at him with out being vilified is amazing.
Now, here we have a poster who says that calling him and African-American is a RACIST REMARK! What on earth!!!? Is calling Senator Clinton a WOMAN a SEXIST remark? I am sorry if you do not like it, but Senator Obama describes HIMSELF as an African-American, even though his mother was white. And that is perfectly fine with me. Why it is that you believe this man should not be under the same standards that everyone else is? What IS IT you are afraid of? We have many ethnicities in the great country. And many prefer to identify with their heritage. What is wrong with that? And as far as Hillary Clinton being a "national disgrace" I PERSONALLY take offence at that remark. That you may not care for her policies is fine, that you do not like her as a PERSON is within your right, but as a former First Lady, she is due the same respect as all First Ladies before her. And who are YOU to determine WHO is "respectable" enough for this Nation? In a country where we have convicted Felons as hosts on the airwaves, where we have Domestic Terrorists like Obama's friend Bill Ayers teaching college, and Tony Rezko doing back-room deals with Saddam Hussein's bagman, why is the former First Lady a "National Disgrace?" Your venom is disgusting, and if these diatribes represent Senator Obama's constituents, we are in for a very long four years with him in the White House. And yes, it is called the White House. But I supposed to you that term too, is racist.

It's time people open their eyes to what many Chicagoans already know: that Obama is part of the corrupt political machine or "combine" that consists of republicans and democrats alike. Now that the Rezko trial has started, maybe you all will reevaluate your readiness to deify someone who financed his mansion with the help of Rezko and Auchi, a corrupt Iraqi-British arms-dealer who stole money from the Oil-for-Food program in Iraq and had business deals with Saddam Hussein. Maybe you all can do some research to learn about the "methods" Obama used to secure his position when he first ran for the Illinois state senate. The guy is worse than Washington corrupt: he is Chicago corrupt.

Samantha Power was an adviser. She did not set his policies. Plus Clinton was the flip-flopper on NAFTA. She is lucky Obama keeps trying to take the high road; although I believe he needs to call her out for the dirty liar that she is. And no, Ken Starr is not a historical reference, nice try, liar.
Posted by: Sarah | March 7, 2008 4:15 PM
You guys keep ripping Hillary a new one for the NAFTA nonsense, but honestly even if Hillary did tell the Canadians something (for which there is no proof, nor is there a name provided as to who they told this to or who told them) Hillary was not the one who began to criticize and send misleading pamphlets about NAFTA out to the people of Ohio and then go to the Canadians to tell them it was just political positioning. He obviously made the people think she had some serious issues on the economy by attacking her on NAFTA but yet we find out later he doesn't really feel that way at all. That's the problem with Obama contacting Canada. Hillary has been criticizing NAFTA but she was never in attack mode over it. They were both forced to make some sort of commitment that neither of them should have made, obviously. So to spout hateful nonsense about Hillary when Barack is just as guilty of everything she is doing is crap. Get over your cult driven selves and stop spewing forth hate all over the internet.

After reading these blogs, I'd like to say a few intelligent words to some of you, but it will just rile you up more and you will vote on emotion and self-validation rather than reason. So, suffice it to say, Hillary prevailed in OHio and Texas because of an inordinate amount of Republican cross-over vote for her, in order to stop Obama. She spun it around and took it as a vote of confidence. Don't take my word for it. Read the media, including Ohio's Secretary of State, who told reporters that Rush Limbaugh's call to throw the vote toward Hillary was obviously acted upon. Resko doesn't bother me, what bothers me is the denial of Hillary and Bill's very very dishonest past....And in order to keep your emotions rational, don't take my word for it, check out the historical articles about Vincent Foster, Casa Grande, subpoenaed papers found in the White House closet, the cattle windfall, the Rose Law Firm machinations for the financial loan deals, the Lincoln Bedroom, the Chinese support and WalMart, Lippo and Indonesia, etc. DOn't take my word, just look it all up and go to the polls with a little more sense and intelligence rather than emotion......

Yeah, that's pretty much what Obama has been saying about ALL of the isuses, Hillary.
Obama has always said, in effect, "These are my thoughts, but I'm going to be open to other input."
This differs from the Clinton/Bush approach, which is "My way or the highway."
That didn't serve Hillarycare well and it hasn't served Bush well, either.

Obama deserves some skewering. He has gotten a free pass from the press for too long and the outrageous statements, claims, false promises and lies must be vetted and tested. He obviously doesn't have the good judgement to pick staff or surrogates who can talk about the issues instead of name-calling. Anyone who also surrounds himself with corrupt Chicago slumlords and allows them to buy him a piece of pricey property "with no strings attached" (ha ha) and who calls his OWN judgement "boneheaded" does not have the good judgement to be leader of the free world. We don't need anymore "boneheads" in the White House playing "hide the bone". I think we've already had 7+ years of that. Just say No-bama!

Hillary has spent the last month attacking Barack for being too idealistic. Now one of his advisors indicates that he will have to be flexible according to the situation in the ground... a pragmatic and honest remark and Hillary pounces on her... right? Clinton is an opportunistic attack dog. Her attacks don't reflect any consistent values.
AND... Samatha Powers calling Hillary a monster is nothing like Wolfson calling Obama Ken Star. Wolfson is Hillary's PR manager. The guy is her official mouthpiece. Power's is a foreign policy advisor...
Samantha Power is one of the most talented and intelligent woman in the nation. If Obama is taking advice from her we will be in good hands if he becomes president.

She's still talking about NAFTA? What a lying hypocrite!
The Canadian press is reporting that it was actually the Clinton campaign that sent word to the Canadian government not to take the anti-NAFTA talk too seriously.
Somehow, by the time the story made it to print, Canada's conservative Prime Minister's office had "leaked" a memo that said it was Obama's campaign that was saying not to worry about NAFTA. The Clinton part of the story was ignored.
This begs two questions: what is Canada doing meddling in our election and why was the Clinton campaign's involvement in this dropped from the story?
From the Globe and Mail:
"The news agency quoted that source as saying that Mr. Brodie said that someone from Ms. Clinton'scampaign called and was "telling the embassy to take it with a grain of salt."
The story was followed by CTV's Washington bureau chief, Tom Clark, who reported that the Obama campaign, not the Clinton's, had reassured Canadian diplomats."

THE MATH FOR HILLARY'S PATH
the hillarrite strategy is all too clear :
her ONLY path to the nomination is by using racially motivated voters, cheaters and/or republicans to get there
it HAS already happened
she cheats by TOTALLY ignoring the VOTERS of michigan who would have certainly shown up to vote for Obama - had he been on the ticket - if they se voters had a choice - IF THEY HAD A CHOICE - THEY DIDN'T SHE KNOWS IT - HOW COULD ANYONE WITH A CONSCIENCE EVEN SUGGEST THAT THOSE VOTERS BE LEFT OUT
and the crossover voting is the ONLY reason she won texas
there were about 3 million votes cast for the presidential nomination of the democratic party in texas
less than half that many were cast for democratic nominees to the US senate - COMBINED - in a contested primary
less than half that many voted for any republican though three candidates popular in texas were still actively campaigning - mccain - (popular among the texas veterans and military communities and die hard red state republicans), ron paul (a texan whose immigration and tax stances are very popular in texas) and mike huckabee (from neighboring arkansas with the endorsement of the dallas morning news, famous texan - chuck norris and Bible-belt icon james dobson)
texas is a red state - bush's home state and a state that listens to limbaugh - you do the math
hillarys plan is to;
1) get the delegates by manipulating to get the florida and michigan and superdelegates counted inappropriately
and/or
2) have republicans and racists decide the democratic nomination by crossover voting in the remaining states
the math is clear, there is no other path for hillary to come close to 2024 delegates
most likely she will do both of the above
furthermore she has NO plans to release her 2006 tax forms before July (or more likely December, if then) - these are 2006 tax forms we are talking about - TWO THOUSAND AND SIX !!!!!!!!
make NO mistake - there is NO way hillary can even come close AT ALL in MISSISSIPPI without racists and republican crossover votes and hillary knows it
but SHE DOESN'T CARE
even if she cannot get quite enough racists to crossover and vote for her, she can still play the cheating card
only THREE question remains;
Do democrats want their nominee chosen by racists ?
Do democrats want a candidate nominated by cheaters ??
Do democrats want their candidate chosen by republicans ???
mathematically these are the only possible paths for hillary to be the democratic presidential candidate

Chelsea Clinton in 2016 - keep it in the family!!!! Blue Collar workers like 2 families ruining America. Yeah Nafta, Yeah Haliburton, Yeah Bill Clinton
Jenna Bush in 2024 - Nobody else should bother running. We don't need new ideas, just a change every 8 years from one family to another. Life is good, taxes are fun!!! Gas is cheap!! Call the next generation of fake jobs "Green" and say you really worry about the economy.
Billary totally relates to the Blue-Collar worker - she only made 12 million last year and loaned her campaign $5 Million of her own money - oh my!!!

Hitler and Stalin are examples of real-life monsters. For someone who is running on judgement rather than the value of experience, it seems that Obama is showing why he shouldn't be President by associating himself with a top foreign policy advisor who doesn't have the judgement to distinguish between Hillary and Hitler. Or a science advisor who can't answer science questions at a science debate and refers reporters to the Obama web site. Or an economic advisor who creates NAFTA-gate. The office of President is not the place for neophytes.

HILLARY, WHAT A TANGLED WEB YOU WEAVE, WHEN YOU CONTINUE TO DECEIVE ...
Clinton Again Raises Running With Obama
Mar 7 01:27 PM US/Eastern
By SARA KUGLER
Associated Press Writer
HATTIESBURG, Miss.(AP)- Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton on Friday again raised the possibility that she might run with rival Sen. Barack Obama on the same Democratic presidential ticket.
Speaking to voters in Mississippi, where Sen. Barack Obama is expected to do well in next week's primary, Clinton said, "I've had people say,'Well I wish I could vote for both of you. Well, that might be possible some day. But first I need your vote on Tuesday."
It is the second time this week that she has hinted at a joint ticket with the Illinois senator; he has not ruled it out but says it is premature to be having those discussions.
----------
COMMENT:
First Hillary maintains that only her and Republican John McCain are ready for the heavy responsibilities of the presidency, including stewardship of national security.
Then she suggests that, in the unlikely chance she is the Democratic nominee, she would consider Barack Obama to be her vice presidential running mate.
The vice president is a heartbeat away from being president.
So either Hillary is making up the claim that Obama is not ready to lead, or she is putting the country at risk by suggesting she would pick him.
The first choice would make her a liar, the second, that she is very cavalier in her attitude about national security.
Or may both are true.
Either way, just another reason to support Barack Obama for president (and Sen. Jim Webb for Veep).

The potential future president of the United States is upset because someone called her a "monster?"
Wow. What's she going to do if an international leader accidentally insults her? Start an international incident?
My 10 year is more mature than Hillary.

What a lot of elementary school nonsense.
"Your candidate's aid called my candidate a monster! How would you like it if someone called you a monster?"
"Yeah, well your candidate's aid called my candidate Ken Starr! Your campaign started it!"
"Well my candidate has already lived in the White House, so there!"
Anybody want to talk about the real issues and compare the health care plans of the two candidates? Contrast how they plan to get us out of Iraq? Talk about what our energy policy should be after the corrupt oil men leave the White House? This grade school stuff is great fun, but is this really how we'll choose our candidate for November?

It's funny that the Clintonites love calling out Obama for so-called negativity, but when the shoe is on the other foot, it doesn't matter.
Face it: Hillary is full of double standards. She calls for Power to get fired for calling her a monster, yet doesn't call out Howard Wolfson for comparing Obama to Ken Starr. She says that Obama is too inexperienced to be commander in chief, yet she doesn't have any experience to speak of, just one full term as a Senator and being a former first lady doesn't count as experience. Obama has held elective office for 12 years, which makes hem senior to Hillary. She says Obama doesn't speak on issues, yet his website and his book Audacity of Hope clearly show his views and policy ideas. She called out Obama for the mailers exposing the truth of her health care plan and compared them to Karl Rove, yet here she is playing the Karl Rove game herself attacking Obama's character instead of his stance on policy issues, something Obama has been committed to. If you've heard Obama speak, not once has he attacked Hillary, he's attacked her policy ideas, and yet the Clintonites say he's the one running the negative campaign... I've never seen a more corrupt campaign than Hillary Clinton, I'd almost vote for George Bush again in a heartbeat if she becomes the Dems nominee, it'll be a cold day in Hell before I'll vote for a menopausal, mentally unstable, politically corrupt woman into office.

If you're a Hillary supporter, didn't Obama's campaign act in the best possible way here? Power expressed her personal feelings off the record, or so she thought. As soon as the story broke, Obama called her and said that she no longer could speak for the campaign (and, presumably, asked her to resign). She then resigned, mere hours after the story broke. Obama then publicly repudiated the "monster" characterization and said that wasn't the tone he wanted with his campaign.
After Power's remark, is there anything that you would have had Obama or his campaign do differently?

Her reply to "Well if conditions are different on the ground, your plan may not work." question is so ridiculously beyond reason which even a monster could not understand.

Yeah whatever, whose blowing smoke up whose you know what? Do we really believe Clinton is committed to world peace and not to her lobbyists and corporate supporters? Let's see the tax returns-- then we'll decide who is the more honest candidate.

Obama seems to surround himself with advisors that go and do things behind him to embarrass him, willy, nilly. That's not the sign of a great leader. And no matter what the Obamaites spin, those are the facts.
One thing that is interesting, it seems Obama's advisors and his followers are similar in many respects - they think they can cow people into accepting them by being nasty and then they throw temper tantrums when they lose.
By the way, here is a quote from wiki about Samantha Power:
In a 2002 interview at Berkeley[4] , Power proposed that instead of encouraging negotiations between Israelis and Arabs, the United States should spend "billions of dollars" to send a "meaningful military" force to effect the "imposition of a solution" and create "the new state of Palestine" beside Israel.
What do you think of that kind of policy?

Obama is the vile one, not Hillary. He'll stop at nothing to win including threatening race riots at the convention. He is tearing this country apart based on race. Why are blacks more entitled to the white house than a woman??
Posted by: Sam | March 7, 2008 3:49 PM
Sam, you are either a 7th grader or suffering the side effects of a Big Pharma medication. Threatening race riots? "Entitled" to the White House? Dude! Get a grip and stop tearing your psyche apart!

To Hypocrite-Hillary supporters: Read on. ..
A trip down memory lane:
Eight years ago, when Hillary parachuted into NY to become our Senator, she and Howard Wolfson became completely obsessed with opponent Rick Lazio's tax returns, which he did not release until the end of August..
They talked about them at every opportunity. In early July, Hillary called it "frankly disturbing." A guy in an Uncle Sam outfit was dispatched to be a nuisance at various Lazio events in August. Howard himself showed up once to try to rattle Lazio by offering him a copy of some Chappaqua property tax receipt after Lazio said he'd release his state returns as soon as Hillary released hers (which didn't exist, because she had just moved up here).
This produced a lot of coverage. We've copied one of the stories after the jump, if you're interested. But obviously, what brings it to mind is the current discussions of when, if ever, Clinton and Wolfson will release her tax returns as she runs for president this year. Their attitude has been, basically, when they feel like it.
Pressed again today by the Obama campaign, Wolfson said: "Their tax returns since they left the White House will be made available on or around April 15."
Maybe a reporter could, like, actually risk getting Wolfson mad by trying to pin him down on whether "on or around April 15" will definitely be before the Pennsylvania primary on April 22, and why a 2001 return from a sitting NY senator can't be copied by, say, March 15?
Without being too cute here, the question is why Clinton and Wolfson were so obsessed by Lazio's returns that they were disrupting his events, but they now treat it as an irrelevancy when Hillary's returns are requested. There's occasionally the suggestion that different standards apply to a primary. But that makes no sense, especially when you're already an officeholder. Republicans are entitled to see Hillary's returns before making their decision, but not Dems?
No, it seems more like a reflection of the way Hillary and her team think. Principled people would reason as follows: "Since we made a huge fuss about Lazio's returns in 2000, to be consistent we should be very diligent about being just as transparent as Obama and releasing our own returns this year. Otherwise, we would be behaving like hypocrites."
But that's not what they're doing. So the reasoning is apparently this: "We acted like Lazio's tax returns were a big deal in 2000 because it was in our self-interest to do so, and this year we'll act like our returns aren't a big deal because it's in our self interest to do so. We don't act on principle, and we don't care about being consistent, and we don't care about being hypocritical." -- Newsday.com, 3.7.08

I am surprised by the negativity here. Both democrat candidates are capable of doing the job, as is John McCain. The rest of the world will be happy with any of them.
As far as policy is concerned if they avoid the absurd mistakes in policy and rhetoric of Bush, that will be fine. Ironically, since Saddam had to be removed, that was about the only thing Bush got right. Pity he didn't have a clue how to go about it.
Posted by: James Baring | March 7, 2008 9:29 PM
James -
Only a Bush or a Clinton are truly 'Ready' to run this country. Obama and McCain are just bad choices. Chelsea Clinton in 2016 and Jenna Bush (or her future husband) in 2024. The world is a very dangerous place nowdays, so we should have 2 families that we know are vetted and tested on day one to run this show.

This video clip a report about Obama from Chicago's most respected TV news station.
I'm sorry to burst Obama's supporters bubble, but Obama's much worse than any of us thought. He wasn't even any good at being a state senator.
How can anyone still support Obama, now that we know what a lousy job he did for the people he represented in Chicago?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rDHsHM0laT8&feature=related
According to his own local Chicago Newspapers and TV stations, he was a lousy State Senator.
If he couldn't even handle being a State Senator, why would anyone in their right mind trust him with the Presidency???
It really is "game over" for Obama.
Sorry. Even I didn't expect him to be this incompetent and corrupt.

The difference between Obama's response to Samantha Power and Clinton's response to Wolfson says it all: grace and integrity vs. power-hunger and word splicing...
Posted by: Paul Levinson | March 8, 2008 3:43 AM
Samantha Power is brilliant...and human. Negative comments coming from Sen. Clinton's campaign illustrate more grasping at straws. For Power to call Clinton a "monster," well, was wrong. She trusted the wrong reporter and it backfired. But she has a one-in-a-million mind (the woman is young!), and my feeling is she'll be back. So...life goes on. That said, if you don't think worse language flies behind closed doors in political offices and press rooms, you are terribly naive. It's time for citizens to move on (away from Iraq), embrace the future, and clean up the mess. That means fixing the education system, to look after our kids. Obama is the only candidate with the political, personal and moral will to do it, and to do it fairly, with both parties' interests at heart. I admire Sen. McCaine and Clinton, respectively, but they are more of the same. I hope you'll get behind Obama in '08.

Hill would NEVER call Obama a monster! I can't believe Samantha is a Harvard prof, because she not only is out of line, she is stupid! One more case where Obama staff and/or family put their foot in their mouths! Inexperience shows!
Go Hillary!
Posted by: Go Hill! | March 8, 2008 9:36 AM
If Hillary wins the party nomination, I will definitely not vote for her. Hopefully the majority of Americans will vote against the Clintons. She hasn't released her 2006 tax returns yet, so obviously the voters won't see what is on her 2007 tax returns. Yes, what are the Clintons hiding? What about the contributors to Bill Clinton's library? Why are they so secretive about that matter? What of Bill's recent business dealings that appear to be questionable?
Voting for Clinton is voting to return to their scandal ridden years in the White House. The country doesn't need more of the same.

Obama is for change. Obama is for change. Obama is for change. Blah Blah. Blah Blah Blah. How? How is Obama for change and what kind of change? What has he done in his very very short political career to display his talent for "bringing people together"? Where is it? Come on, let's see it!!! The only reason you're voting Obama is because he's young, charismatic, and glamorous. And Hillary is a boring old woman. Samantha Power put her finger on the issue exactly in her "monster" comment when she said of Hillary: "..Just look at her and you think erghh.." And *that* is the crux of the issues. Hillary is an old, annoying, wrinkled woman that nobody under 50 wants to look at. At least not if you have the option of gazing adoringly at a handsome, young, virile president or feeling homeboy kinship for the same. At least have the guts to admit it you lyin' bigoted Obama-bots. Obama is for change. Beep Beep. Time for battery change.

I've seen Samantha Powers on Charlie Rose numerous times and always felt she was sincerely concerned and knowledgeable about the situation in Darfur. But I'm stunned at this "monster" remark.
Also stunning is the harsh and accusatory tone of some of the questioners in this reported interview. Check out the simpering tone when Obama is questioned.
This just keeps confirming to me that Obama basks in the glow of universal media approval, while that same media feel they can separate Hillary from the pack and go in for the kill. She is vulnerable in a way no other candidate is. Yet she keeps standing there and taking it and staying on message. That she can stay focused in the face of so many personal insults should at least be a testament, for those who need it, that a strong woman can lead.
I like Obama a lot--I hope he continues to learn and legislate and speak and inspire. But he is untried and untested on this large a stage. I want him to be President someday. But I want Hillary to be President next year.

Poor Samantha. Fired by Obama for speaking the truthy -that Obama has no plans of following up on his promises about Iraq.
Just like his NAFTA promises.
Beware of Obama. He is a habitual liar.

Maureen Dowd's column this weekend mentions that Samantha Powers is not just Obama's foreign policy advisor, she's also an expert on human rights.
So, the bottom line is, Obama's human rights advisor called Hillary a monster.
Doesn't that mean something, when a human rights expert from Harvard calls a politician a monster? Or, have we simply become so anti-intellectual that that is not fair game.
Unfortunately, the Iraq war has been one of the great human rights abuses of our time.
And, as an aside, who could have any kind of definitive plan for Iraq? I am about as against the war as anybody, but we need to be reasonable, because I get the feeling that if we simply pulled out, we would have a more serious military problem for years to come.
Maybe that's why HRC decided to keep napalm and cluster bombs in our arsenal. Maybe that's why she's got the support of "35 generals and admirals."
Beware.

I know a lot of people who moved to Jackson Hole Wym. and they are all Repulicans who showed up to vote for Obama because they know he will not survive like Hillary would. He should have waited till 2016 then the blacks could have voted for the Clintons who have worked hard and he himself was once lapeled as the first black president. How soon color changes things and we forget those who worked for us.

HILLARY 'A MONSTER!'
'historical reference,' indeed
(Samantha Power, clinton and Genocide)
NOTE:
Rather than focus on clinton-machine process and spin, why don't you 'reporters' and 'pundits' check out precisely what Samantha Power was talking about? There is a very big clinton disqualifier under your nose. Take a whiff.
