Clinton-Obama: 'An almost unstoppable force': The Swamp

The Swamp

by Mark Silva

Who was that, over the wekeend, suggesting that Sens. Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama running together on the same White House ticket could be "an almost unstoppable force?''

That was Bill Clinton.

At a campaign rally for his wife in Biloxi, Miss. -- where Democrats will vote on Tuesday -- the former president seemed to acknowledge the weaknesses in both candidates while touting their apparent strengths as one, unified team.

Obama "would win the urban areas and the upscale voters,'' the former president said, "and she wins the traditional rural areas that we lost when President Reagan was president.

"If you put those two things together,'' he said, "you'd have an almost unstoppable force."

Don't fall for this dirty trick from Bill. He knows that Obama would not settle for a VP spot, but offers it anyway, just to make Obama looks like the one who doesn't want to place nice. The reality is that Obama is way ahead and it's Obama who should have any talk about selecting a VP. Being behind in many ways, the Billary team found a a way to put Obama on the defensive and try to steal the initiative. This is another reason why Hillary is not fit to be president, and I hope that people will see right through it.

For Obama to take the VP slot on the Monster Inc. ticket makes no sense at all. For one thing he is way ahead and for another Monster Inc has been saying he isn't ready to be Commander in Chief, now they want him one heartbeat away from being Commander in Chief? They make no sense.

And why on earth would Obama want Hillary as his VP? Lets ignore for a moment that the idea that Hillary might have Obama killed to take the oveal office. What does Hillary bring to the ticket other than rabid right wing hatred (hatred that is making more and more sense every day.)

Hillary has over 50 percent unlikable polls. Obama could bring the black vote but the Democrats got 92 percent of it the last time and he already turns off half of the Democrats in the primaries, so what's the gain? Factor in those who would not vote for either one and it's Hello President McCain.

Well, since she's been behind in the delegate count for a while now, I think Hillary should accept the VP spot to make the "unstoppable force" ticket with Obama.

This is actually a clever tactic from the Clinton camp. What it's "saying" is "hey, I'm such a great candidate that I'd even put my arch rival on board as my number 2". It's a way of hedging herself and softening up those in the middle who are still torn between her and Obama. Don't buy it though. No matter if she's prez or VP, she will still be a divisive person for this country.

Obama will go all the way if he get nominated but Hillary will have to have Obama to win.

The ONLY way I will vote for Obama is if Hillary is on the same ticket whether it be Clinton/Obama or Obama/Clinton. Ralph Nader has my vote if Hillary does not get the nomination and Obama does not at least offer her the VP position if he were to win the nomination. I have always been a Democrat but after the way I have seen these vicious Obama supporters treat the Clintons I will change my party affiliation too in fact if Obama wins and does not ask Hillary to be his running mate.

How does Bill feel about Obama-Clinton?

Answer: Who cares. Bill Clinton's romancing of Monica ruined Al Gore's chances and he conveniently got sick right when John Kerry needed his help.

Get sick again, Bill. Your presidency helped the Republicans take control of the House for the first time in decades and you did not good for the Democratic Party as a whole.

"Hey, Coach Coughlin? This is Coach Belicheck, over here on the other sideline...yeah, hi I can see you too. What a great Super Bowl, huh? I mean, I know you're leading 7-3 as we start the 4th quarter and all, but I've been thinking...with us as the inevitable champion, I think you guys would make great Super Bowl runner-ups...what's that? Runners-up is correct? Oh, thanks. Yeah, so anyway, I know you're ahead in 'points', but in terms of actual scores, it's 1-1, and we think if we can get another field goal, we can get the officials to give us the game. So I'm just floating this idea now, let's call it for us and then you and not even bother playing this 4th quarter, or making it more ceremonial.

Also, we'd like to replay that one series in the first quarter where we got called for holding. I know it cost us a drive, but I don't want to dienfranchise my linemen by making them follow these arbitrary rules they had nothing to do with creating.

So you see, really, having us be the winner and you guys...you know what? You should totally come to our victory parade on Tuesday, seriously. If we were at that parade together, man, we'd be unstoppable...what do you think?

Hello? Coach?"

Obama is in big trouble in recent weeks and it appears Clinton will get the nomination about PA, FL and MI are counted. Obama would be smart to consider this offer and the Clinton HAD to make it in order to not have a backlash from his supporters. When those three states have voted, Obama may need to re-consider.

nislieb:

Long time no see - welcome back!!

The Clinton supporters have to realize that if Hillary is nominated, she will wake up the right wing of the Republican party that will hopefully stay away from McCain.

Some people are just too paranoid. Everything has a monster sleeping in the closet or under the bed.

The simple fact is: neither candidate can win on their own. No conspiracy, no hidden agenda, it's just the way it is.

Love the idea....and Obama as VP is perfect, because then he'll have time and space to learn to really lead and act on his words, because his inexperience is probably the biggest drawback so far.
Yay!! Clinton/Obama '08!!!

Well, and of course being the VP for a Clinton is a surefire ticket to one's own presidential administration down the road. Just ask President Al Gore.

If Hillary manages to get the nomination from the superdelegates after all the mud she and her camp have flung (comparing him to Karl Rove, Ken Starr, saying that "as far as she knows," he's not a Muslim -- not that being Muslim is wrong, but she knows she benefits with her less-educated base if she can keep that fearmongering myth alive, no matter how subtly), then let her make her case to Obama's supporters on her own merits. Why should she be able to use his star power to make up for her own glaring deficiencies? I think Obama can just graciously say "You know, I think I'll stay here in the Senate where I think I can do the most good, thanks."

Or maybe she can get McCain to be her VP. She thinks he's such great commander-in-chief material, after all!

How did it become so easy for Democrats to demonize Hllary Clinton (both Clintons for that matter) with the Repug talking points? Shame on us and shame on the Obama campaign!
Hillary 'a monster' what the hell is going on?

Unbeatable!!

Hill/Bill/Obie!

(the witch, the lizard and the pet rock)

Just thinks of the laugh- out-loud highjinks that gang could pull off in the White House!!

Laughs a minute! Chuckles galore!! - And to think we are at war with a flagging economy and serious issues at hand ..............

Barack would be crazy to take the VP slot. It would be a waste of the talents of a good man. Regardless of whose name is listed on the ticket as #2, the REAL VP will be Bill Clinton.

Bill is now working on his 3rd term in office.

Hi there everybody.I'm writing from Rome, in Italy and I really feel and wish that B.Obama will be the next president of the USA.World wide, I think also yourselves there,we are really tired to hear everyday just WAR news.Is time that Dem take again the leadership of the biggest nation in the world, that promulge Liberty and prosperity for every body: in the last 2 years do not appear to be that.
Obama, being a non conventional Skin color, is the best way to reconfirm that USA is the country that offer Justice in each part of the world.
"Oby", go on!!!

Hillary doesn't belong on the ticket anywhere. She's proven what a sleaze she is in this campaign.

I have another idea. Lets bring Tom Brady to be the QB for the Bears, and have him be the backup for Rex Grossman! Under the Clinton's ideology this would be a great plan.

NOTE TO HILLARY: BARACK IS AHEAD OF YOU IN THE POPULAR VOTE AND WILL REMAIN SO AFTER ALL PRIMARIES ARE COMPLETE.

YOU SHOULD BE LUCKY ENOUGH TO BE CONSIDERED A VP CANDIDATE FOR HIM, WHICH YOU ARE NOT.

What a comedian, a loser asking his master to be his no2? Wonders shall never cease

Bill using the ol' reverse-pyschology trick. Real clever, but it won't work. Any ticket with Hillary on it is a sure loser.

'An almost unstoppable farce'
It maybe a good idea but Bill brings it up as some political move just to benifit Hillary, not the democrats.

Hillary gets top billing, Obama takes VP & actually accomplishes something on his record for a change. Fancy that! Then, he could make his own run later, after earning it. As for Hillary-negative polls & waking up the Right Wingers, get clued in: ANY Dem will do the same. If you think they will not vote straight Repug in November you are in La-La Land. They will hold their noses & vote McCain.

I think this is just a ploy by Clinton(s).

First, paint your opponent as a VP, get the idea of Obama VP not president out there.

Next it says Obama supporters vote for Hillary as pres and you can get Obama as VP.

Thirdly, Hillary probably sees this as her only chance of winning the primary, even though it weakens the overall dem position in the election.

Lastly who would want to be a VP with the Hill/Bill tag team? I would bet Bill ends up functioning as the VP or at least diluting the role completely.

Hillary needs Obama to win, Obama does not need Hillary, in fact she is a liability. Hillary will turn out a huge vote in November if she is on the ticket in either position, the problem is that it will be the republicans/independents turning out for McCain.

Considering Obama is ahead I think he is being very polite in calling such offers "premature" and not just rejecting them outright.

Obama can find a good VP candidate with real experience (as opposed to Clinton's) that will make his candidacy unstoppable without sacrificing his call for real change.

Perhaps the Dems should team Barack Obama 2008 with--

Barack Obama 2004.

An article in March 8th's Boston Globe shows how Obama's positions on Iraq have changed over the years:

"By Farah Stockman
Globe Staff / March 8, 2008

WASHINGTON - In July of 2004, the day after his speech at the Democratic convention catapulted him into the national spotlight, Barack Obama told a group of reporters in Boston that the United States had an "absolute obligation" to remain in Iraq long enough to make it a success.

"The failure of the Iraqi state would be a disaster," he said at a lunch sponsored by the Christian Science Monitor, according to an audiotape of the session. "It would dishonor the 900-plus men and women who have already died. . . . It would be a betrayal of the promise that we made to the Iraqi people, and it would be hugely destabilizing from a national security perspective."

The statements are consistent with others Obama made at the time, emphasizing the need to stabilize Iraq despite his opposition to the US invasion. But they also represent perhaps his most forceful language in depicting withdrawal from crisis-ridden Iraq as a betrayal of the Iraqi people and a risk to national security."

Doesn't sound like Obama 2008, does it? Could it be that he's changed his tune on Iraq in order to win primary votes? Could it be that he's just another politician?

Hillary might make a good VP. She'd could fulfill the Dick Cheney role and make over-the-top statements demonizing the other party (instead of her own) while spending the majority of her time in an undisclosed location.

Since Senator Clinton took it upon herself to inform the American public that Senator McCain would make a better POTUS than Senator Obama, I have lost all interest in seeing this foolish woman as president. Americans, I beg of you, let your first female pres. a truly remarkable and honest woman. Otherwise it would only negatively impair the chances of any woman running in future, and God knows, that is unfair to them. She is a poor representation of the female from!

Notice it's always "clinton-obama" when Bill or Hill talk about it. This despite the fact that Obama still leads in delegates.

The female from where? New York, Arkansas, Illinois? I don't get it. What's the "female from?"

Note that Bill's motivation has nothing to do with the good of the nation. He's only interested in triangulation and what will "win".

A Clinton - Obama ticket is just a dream. Both of them have huge egos. Could they run as a team without upstaging each other?

A ticket combining these two great competitors is ridiculous. The VP has to stand in the background nodding approval of the Pres' decisions. Is either Obama or Clinton likely to accept four years of that?

If it does happen, prepare for behind-the-scenes squabbling that will surely hinder good decision making.

Let's try Obama/ Clinton. Based on the popular vote, that is the proper order. But, If I were Obama, I'd be too busy watching my own back. Remember Vince Foster? WACK!

I think this is just a ploy by Clinton(s).

Obama - Edwards

Obama has said that he will not accept the VP spot.

And Hillary said today that Obama is not qualified to be VP.

This Democrat is voting for John McCain.

Billie - go to your room.

It looks as if this particular food-fight is going to come down to the Super-delegates. If they go for Hillary and SHE
wins the nomination, the party of the people will have denied the nomination to an African-American.

If they go to bo and HE wins the nomination, the party of the people will have denied the nomination to a woman.

Either way some people (aka special interests) are gonna be MIGHTILY upset.

The super-delegates remind me of George Orwell's novel 'Animal Farm' when the pig says - "we're all equal, but some are more equal than others."

Here is part of the article.

"The two new political demographics - like Soccer moms and NASCAR dads before them - are quickly emerging as the potential election-busters of the 2008 presidential race.

And contrary to conventional wisdom, numbers emerging from polls and primary results show that Sen. John McCain - who has alienated conservatives as he courts independents and moderate Democrats - holds an advantage over Sen. Barack Obama in the race for crossover votes.

"There are now more McCainocrats than Obamacans - about 14 percent of Democrats say they would vote for Mr. McCain today instead of Mr. Obama, but just 8 percent of Republicans say they would vote for the Illinois Democrat, according to a Pew Research Center survey on Feb. 28.

Additionally, 20 percent of white Democratic voters say they would defect to Mr. McCain if Mr. Obama is the Democratic Party's nominee - twice the number who would cross over if Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton wins the nomination, Pew found.

"McCain poses a clear and present danger to Obama in that he draws Democrat base support in historic numbers," said Republican strategist Scott Reed."

Of course Barack should NOT accept VP. He is the front runner and he knows that all is not clean is Hilaryville.

He know that Hilary is being given a free pass by the media. Why aren't the media publishing any stories on her potentially standing trial for fund raising fraud? There is videotaped evidence that she knew firsthand about the fundraising by Peter Paul that was found to be illegal and that makes her culpable.

WHY IS THE MEDIA IGNORING THIS AND PROVIDING THE REPUBLICANS WITH A SILVER BULLET IF SHE BECOMES THE DEMOCRATIC NOMINEE????

Obama needs to drive the point that THE WAR IN IRAQ IS HAVING SERIOUS NEGATIVE EFFECTS on our economy and that those who voted for the war should be to blame, in part, for the state of the US economy.

Look how the WAR IN IRAQ is affecting the US economy.

$3,000,000,000 per week - $3 billion PER WEEK! That’s the amount we're paying for the Iraq War PER WEEK, money that should have been used here, at home.

Add to this:

Interest. We’re financing the war with borrowed money (e.g. treasuries)

Higher oil and energy prices. Instability in Iraq is adding roughly 30 dollars per barrel as a premium.

Higher oil prices mean demand shifts to other sources of energy like nat gas, coal, etc. and greater demand will raise the equilibrium price of other sources of energy -- Can you say high energy bills?

Higher oil prices (a raw material used in the production of many goods, fertilizers, gasoline, diesel, plastics, etc.) mean higher prices of goods and services -- Can you say INFLATION?

Higher oil prices mean a higher trade deficit because most of our oil comes from foreign sources. A higher trade deficit means more money is leaving the country than is coming into the country -- Can you say 'Goodbye money!'

Our dollar is weak, weak, weak. Since we have a trade deficit, the value of goods and services we import exceeds the value of goods we export. You know that foreign car you're thinking of buying or the computer you're using, or that trip abroad you've been thinking of taking....well, guess what? It's going to cost more, Ceteris Peribus, because the dollar is weak, weak, weak.

Lastly, how do you think the world views our country because of this war? The evidence was weak and circumstantial, yet we rushed into war with Iraq while our enemy was in other countries. -- Can you say goodbye to trust building with other countries?

Bill please go away and take your wife with you.

Bravo Don! Love the football analogy.

So, let me clarify this next democratic mess. #2 in her husband's generosity offers #1 to be #2 but she adds a condition to do his homework during the next 5 months in order to get ready to answer her 3 am calls.
"If Democrats had any brains..."

Actually, Hillary should be McCain's VP since they both owe lots of favors to big business, vote the same way on Iraq/Iran and are experienced at Washington-speak.

Whoever wins should take a more experienced VP - say Bill Richardson or Evan Bayh. Sadly, Obama's limited 3 years in Senate gives swing voters and bigots an excuse to vote GOP. Evan Bayh would win this race in a landslide, but not Obama or Hillary. And yes, suggesting Obama for Veep is manipulation from Clinton.

Obama isn't qualified to be vice president any more than Dan Quayle was, and won't be asked. He hasn't even done his job here in Illinois. What arrogance!

I am sick of the Obama camp complaining about Hillary Clinton staying in the race.

The fact is had Michigan and Florida had normal primaries that counted from the get-go she would have won both states and this would have been a landslide victory for Clinton as nominee. The fact that two states were excluded that would have gone her way changed the outcome of this race so far and made it so that Obama took the lead.

A Clinton-Obama or Obama-Clinton ticket makes McCain a shoe in! The Democrats that hate Clinton will not vote and the Democrats that hate Obama will not vote. Bill Clinton must be getting paid by McCain to throw the election.

It should be Obama-Edwards

FORGET IT BILL, EVEN THE GIRL IN YOUR 3AM WAKE_UP AD IS GOING WITH OBAMA. Even if the two were on the same ticket, the only way it would win is OBAMA-clinton.

Hillary is just being gracious to Obama, as if to say IF the super delegates make her the Demo candidate, trying to soften the blow and disappointment, there might be a place for Obama as VP…….but Barrack has said before "it's NOW or never for him to be President….Michelle has said he will not run again….he is trying to create some urgency for HIM to be the candidate now,….OR he'll just go home……I've always said…..Obama is ADHD…unless he can travel the world as President, he has no interest in sitting in the oval office, alone, with no audience to cheer him on……he is not party loyal, Michelle is not proud to be an American ——- I love it that the Clintons are finally snaking out the TRUTH about Obama, so his supporters can think this over…..it is for sure the super delegates will look at the much bigger picture…….Hillary 08

Breaking News!!! Major Political Scandal!!!

Large numbers of Republicans have been voting for Barack Obama in the DEMOCRATIC primaries, and caucuses. Because they feel he would be a weaker opponent against John McCain. And because they feel that a Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama ticket would be unbeatable.

Hillary Clinton has actually won by much larger margins than the vote totals showed. And lost by much smaller vote margins than the vote totals showed. Her delegate count is actually much higher than it shows. And higher than Obama's. HILLARY CLINTON IS ALREADY THE TRUE DEMOCRATIC NOMINEE!

As much as 30% of Obama's primary, and caucus votes are Republicans trying to choose the weakest democratic candidate for McCain to run against. These Republicans have been gaming the caucuses where it is easier to vote cheat. This is why Obama has not been able to win the BIG! states primaries. Even with Republican vote cheating help.

If Obama is the democratic nominee for the national election in November he will be slaughtered. Because the vote cheating help will suddenly evaporate. All of this vote fraud and republican manipulation has made Obama falsely look like a much stronger candidate than he really is.

The democratic party needs to fix this outrage. I suggest a Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama ticket now! All democrats need to throw all your support to Hillary Clinton. So you can end this outrage against YOU the voter, and against democracy.

Fortunately the Clinton's have been able to hold on against this fraudulent outrage with those repeated dramatic comebacks of Hillary Clinton's. Only the Clinton's are that resourceful, and strong. Hillary Clinton is your NOMINEE. They are the best I have ever seen.

You should be angry America. "This is not a game" (Hillary Clinton)

Sincerely
