This is how the Associated Press explains what's happening in Texas:

HOUSTON -- After voting in the Texas primary, Democrats could take part in party caucuses that would award more delegates to the presidential candidates in a complex system nicknamed the "Texas Two-Step."

With long voter lines in the heavy election turnout that didn't subside in some places until after midnight, many caucuses didn't begin until late night or even early morning. The party gave up counting caucus results at about 1 a.m.

Obama was the preferred candidate of 55 percent of caucus-goers in the one-third of caucuses initially reporting. The caucus count was to continue today.

CLEARLY a more true understanding of what the Democrats want, without interference from Republican cross-overs trying to influence the vote! Talk is heavy in Ohio about Republicans leaving the polls and bragging that they voted for Hillary, often mentioning straighforward that they did it so that there would be a McCain-Clinton race! Ckeck out the national news!

Caucus is a funny word... tee hee

Explain to me how someone who didnt win the popular vote can win the caucuses. This just proves that caucuses need to go. 2 things I have learned in this election cycle: 1 Cauceses are the dumbest thing I have ever seen. Noone whould ever have to explain their vote, 2 The Democrats have a really stupid system of choosing their nominee. Obama winning Texas was not the will of the people so how can he win the caucuses. He always talks about the will of the people but the peoples will in Texas was for HIllary CLinton. WHether you like her or not she won the popular vote in Texas.

Actually the caucus, in this instance is a great idea. In Texas Republicans that do not want to face Barack Obama voted for Hillary Clinton. It appears that she won the popular vote, but it is rigged with Republican infiltration.
The caucus will show the real sentiment of the people and this will not be skewed by political gamesmanship.
Texas caucus results will clearly show the candidate that garners the real support of majority of Democrats in Texas is Barack Obama.

Caucuses are not true measures of voters' will. They're more for party building than deciding a nominee. They take two hours and discourage anyone but the most passionate voters. The public declarations they require lead to retribution from employers and unions.

They should be done away with.

Obama's ahead in the overall popular vote. That's how he can still make that claim.

In addition he did it without stooping to the character assassination and complaining that the Clintons have been doing.

Congratulations Hillary on dividing and weakening your party prior to the primaries.

The electoral system we have, sensible or not is what it is. Each state has the power to determine their fate and the federal structure enables a fairer election to take place for the entire country. On the occasion, it appears to be a scam with a popular vote going one way, but the balancing act allows the electoral college to sway the other, but we can't just recklessly change that because it doesn't seem to make sense. There was a well thought reason from the beginning and we need to respect that.

Has anyone ever bothered to ask Hillary Clinton what experience she is referring and what mayher accomplishments be? She is basing her experience on a narrow politician in arkansas and first lady during the term of Biol Clinton, since when first ladies decide and handle the country?

I understand people complaining about caucuses, and I'm fine with those complaints. Personally, I think *every* election should be *only* about the popular vote.

However, the systems in place have been there for a while. The caucus is an important part of the primary season, so don't expect that to change.

Which brings me to the subject of Texas. I do think the hybrid system the TX Democrats have is just not good. I'd much rather see either a primary or a caucus.

However, I do have an issue with the Clinton campaign complaining about the hybrid system. First, if Clinton wishes to claim "35 years of experience," then certainly she was aware of the system when leading Democrats helped design and develop it. Secondly, Bill Clinton won TX primaries in 1992 and 1996 - under the same system! So, how could she NOT know about its quirks?

I support Obama, but I don't buy the claim that Republicans crossed lines in significant numbers to vote for Hillary. That certainly wasn't the case in my precinct. Obama won 65% of the primary vote and he carried away 65% of the separate caucus vote. Far from cancelling out the primary vote, the caucus merely reinforced it.

"RUSH LIMBAUGH, GLENN BECK SPEAKS"

Vote HILLARY and you defranchise Hispanic Texans.

Vote HILLARY and you vote for "BIOMETRIC TATOOS" at the General Election.

Vote HILLARY and you for "DRIVERS LICENSES" to by milk, gas, water, food, electricty, heating oil and a AT&T converter Box.

Vote HILLARY and we can datamine every voter, every new voter, every independent voter, and give out 50,000 "PROVISIONAL" ballots "CHALLENGED"

Vote HILLARY and we can continue to place the "RACE" card and make the "SAGGY BOTTOM NO BELT WEARING BROTHA'S and SISTA'S FROM ANOTHER MOTHER become enraged as they didn't vote but thought they too were disinfranchised by "RACE"

Oh my great followers we've been duped! WHAT NOW!

The only way for Hillary to get the nomination now is to steal it. If she does that she will absolutely destroy the party. - If Clinton steals the nomination she will receive less than 40% of the popular vote in the general. She's turned off a lot of people - for good !

-former (3 time) Clinton's voter.

I live in Texas and I happen to like the caucus. You get together with your neighbors, you express your support for your candidate, and you elect your delegates – DIRECTLY – almost like humans.

I know some people like caucuses. I definitely like the primary much better. If I want to have a say on who's going to be the next president, why do I have to announce my choice in front of my neighbors?
And when are they going to get the votes counted? some caucuses were starting after midnight.
