Rep. Jack Murtha, the Pennsylvania Democrat and decorated Vietnam War veteran who has become an outspoken critic of the war in Iraq, is endorsing the presidential campaign of Sen. Hillary Clinton, who looks to Pennsylvania for a victory over Sen. Barack Obama.
"“I’ve known Sen. Clinton for 15 years,” the Johnstown Democrat said in a statement released by his campaign committee, reported by the Tribune-Democrat and circulated by the Clinton campaign. "I know that she continually reaches out for opinions and ideas, not just from our nation’s leaders, but from all Americans.”
Murtha's backing carries added importance because he also is a “superdelegate” to the Democratic National Convention, able to cast his vote for any candidate. Clinton is attempting to build a cadre of superdelegates who can overcome her deficit of pledged delegates in the contest with Obama -- a deficit that she hopes to narrow in Pennsylvania on April 22.
"John Murtha is a fan of both earmarks and arbitrary deadlines for withdrawal, so it’s no surprise he’s also a fan of Sen. Clinton,'' said Alex Conant, spokesman for the Republican Naional Committee. "I'm sure Murtha's recent proposals for huge tax increases would be well received by a Hillary Clinton administration."

Shall we just ignore the fact that he's considered one of the most corrupt politicians on Capital Hill?
Can you say "ABSCAM"?
