UPDATE: Samantha Power announced her resignation from the Obama presidential campaign today. Read about it here.

by Rick Pearson

JACKSON, Miss.—Sen. Barack Obama suffered another foreign policy snafu with one of his advisers, who told a newspaper that his rival, Sen. Hillary Clinton, was a “monster” who is “stooping to anything” to try to win the Democratic presidential nomination.

Samantha Power, who is advising the Obama campaign, made the comments to the Scotsman newspaper of Scotland. Power later apologized and Obama said there was no place in his campaign for such descriptions of his opponent.

In an interview, Power described Clinton by saying, “She is a monster, too – that is off the record – she is stooping to anything." Though Power had tried to withdraw the remark, it occurred during an on-the-record interview.

"You just look at her and think: ergh. But if you are poor and she is telling you some story about how Obama is going to take your job away, maybe it will be more effective. The amount of deceit she has put forward is really unattractive."

In a statement released by Obama’s campaign, Power said: These comments do not reflect my feelings about Sen. Clinton, whose leadership and public service I have long admired.”

Power said she deeply regretted her remarks.

“It is wrong for anyone to pursue this campaign in such negative and personal terms,” she said. “I apologize to Senator Clinton and to Senator Obama, who has made very clear that these kinds of expressions should have no place in American politics.”

Obama’s campaign also issued a statement from Bill Burton’s the campaign’s spokesman, who said: “Sen. Obama decries such characterizations which have no place in this campaign.”

Just prior to last Tuesday’s primaries in Ohio and Texas, Obama initially denied a report that one of his top economic advisers had met with Canadian officials to assure them that Obama’s rhetoric on changing or opting out of the North American Free Trade Agreement were statements made for political consumption.

The controversy occurred as Clinton traveled to Mississippi to begin a two-day campaign swing in advance of the state’s Tuesday primary. At a fundraising event in Canton, Clinton turned up the heat a notch.

Going as far back as the Iowa campaign, Clinton has usually said she would become part of history with the election. Noting that Mississippi has never elected a woman to statewide office, she said there was “one way we could make a real statement here in Mississippi and that is for Mississippi to vote for a woman for president,” Clinton said.

"She's a monster..."? pretty hysterical, to put it mildly. To say something that outlandish, to reporters, Powers must be mentally unbalanced.

"She will stoop to anything..."? Pretty bizarre when you consider, for example, how Obama has been changing his position on NAFTA to suit his audiences... I'm for it... I'm against it... I'm for it...

Meanwhile...

"C'mon guys, I answered like eight questions!" said Barack as he scampered out of the news conference in Texas like a frightened kitten.

Unfortunately for him, there are more than eight questions about Obama and his friend and financier Tony Rezko. Reporters from the Chicago Sun Times and Tribune have been asking to talk to him about this for a long time now, to no avail. Lately it has raised attention in the media outside of Chicago.

The only reasonable explanation for his stonewalling is that what he is hiding is worse that what we already know. Unless he opens up, that explanation must stand.

Got change?

Why regret it? She is, and Oprah is the dragon slayer. It's coming clintonians!

... and who's the monster now?

Hillary is not a monster!

She was never accused of rape!

She never had illicit sex in the oval office!

She never pardoned 14 F.A.L.N. terrorists!

She never let this country get attacked 8 times at home and abroad during the 1990's!

She never [sold] the Chinese our top secret missile guidance systems!

She couldn't even hit an empty tent or kill a camel with $70 million worth of cruise missiles...

Paulo

See, the tide is turning against Obama...calling someone a MONSTER is really negative!

Clinton has made it pretty clear that if she isn't going to get the nomination (and she isn't - the math is impossible for her) then she will destroy the nominee.

That's pretty monstrous behavior. Nothing unbalanced about that.

Pretty bizarre when you consider, for example, how Clinton has been changing her position on NAFTA to suit his audiences... I'm for it... I helped write it... I'm against it... I'm for it... take what I say with grain of salt...

Maybe if she could have voted on NAFTA she would have voted for it but hoped that it wouldn't pass.

HRC pulls the gender card yet again when speaking to Mississippi voters.

Per Darla’s comment: I'm sorry but I thought Obama was running for President and not Oprah. Is she planning on being the woman running the country behind the man?

It makes me sad to see and hear all the negative accusations and all the mad slinging. We need to keep our focus on the war and our trouble economy.

The old cliche "you are what you same you are", Obama is definitely the monster here.

Why did she say it if she did not think it about Senator Clinton? One lie after another. For Obama supporters due to your opinion of Hillary: And how is the Obama campaign different than Hillaries? You are having one off the record after another become public. Yet, they're not negative?

So? She seems like a monster, to me. She seems willing to do ANYTHING to win. What's worse? Being called Ken Starr or a monster? About the same, imo.

Clintonistas are delusional, even if the superdelegates steal the election Hillary will lose the GE. Your candidate has done more to harm the democratic party than any republican. The old and uneducated dont get it, and they wont until Clinton destroys the party, and when she does you will be to blame.

I agree with Betts, if you can' say anything constructive on here then keep your mouth shut..Read up, be smart and vote for the best person. My god people wake up..look at the war, the economy, housing...quit bickering and read, educate and be grown ups....

"Clintonistas are delusional, even if the superdelegates steal the election Hillary will lose the GE. Your candidate has done more to harm the democratic party than any republican. The old and uneducated dont get it, and they wont until Clinton destroys the party, and when she does you will be to blame."

Well Said!

Hillary a "Monster" !!! I think Obama campaign dropped the ball on this one!! The accurate term is "Vampire". Shame on you Obama for not being specific .. don't tarnish the image that Hillary cultivated all her life!!

Much ado about nothing. While it's true the Clintons are pretty close to monsters, it was poor press management to say so, even to a foreign journal.

The cheap shots at Obama by the Clintonistas, however, are objectionable and need to be answered. They thought their candidate would simple be crowned 'Queen of the Dems' and instead she's having to fight for it....and they're quite upset about that.

Which is fine with me...

The only mistake the Obama campaign made was in retracting the statement. Powers was only saying the truth. Hillary Clinton is a monster and she will do anything to win. She will destroy the Democratic party and demonize Obama to get the nomination. When Hillary Clinton responded to claims that Obama is a secret muslim by saying that he in't as "far as she knew I was disgusted. Obama should respond that Hillary Clinton ins't a monster "as far as he knows."

The real outrage is Obama's pandering and insincere apologies. Do something completely unique for a Dem & show some guts man! With Big Bill at her side, Hillary's actually a 2-headed monster...

Well? Was Jekyll and Hyde a monster? Anyone who can turn on a dime from being "warm and fuzzy, it's an honor to be on the same stage with you" to "shame on you, screaming mad" is a monster. That's what this Obama aide was referring to. Everybody has seen this monster in a 3 year old who is adorable one second and the next second throws the biggest temper tantrum imaginable.

Once again, Clinton is willing to either lie to make her point or just shows she's NOT the smartest woman in the world. Mississippi has had women hold state-wide offices including Amy Tuck who recently served as Lt. Governor and did a great job as a REPUBLICAN leader!

Hillary is playing exactly by the Rove playbook: ruthless vicious attacks, slimy inuendos, fear cards, gender cards, half-truths, lies, then whenever your opponent fights back or wins anything, whine bitterly so people will feel sorry for you. Seems to have worked well for the Republicans. If Dems fall for it too, we're all screwed.

Why is she apolgizing for an accurate description? Of course Obama feels the same way but wants to appear to be classy. Hillary is a conniving powermad woman who should never be given an opportunity to chose the course of our country. Evil is an apt description of her. Greedy too. She is the most hated Presidential candidate in our history. Of course if she were kidnapped by terrorists who threatened to douse her in gasoline unless they were paid ten million dollars people would take up a collection. I hear people have already donated over a hundred gallons.

That was putting it mildly......GO MCCAIN!!!!

The remark was wrong. True, but wrong. LOL!

However, Hillary is doing anything to win and while people complained so much of blacks using the race card I've only seen one comment with regard to the GENDER CARD. Obama is about unity because without it nothing happens. Hillary will have no solutions just like her 35 yrs of no solutions without uniting people.

All any candidate can do is give speeches. There is no solution until it is done. Get it? Just like cancer everything is a promise until you find a cure which will be a solution.

She is depending on the DNC allowing Florida & Michigan to redo their primary. I will NOT vote for her... PERIOD!

GAME OVER.

Hillary Clinton has proven she can win the big states that are the must wins for the Dems in November.

Obama failed to close the deal. Despite outspending Hillary in Ohio by 3 to 1, Obama won ONLY 5 out of 88 counties in Ohio. Those five counties are where the large black votes are, which Obama carried by 86%. The black voting group is the ONLY group Obama won in Ohio. If you can't win Ohio, you can't win the Presidency.

Obama is unelectable.

Obama needs to exit the race now and the Dems needs to rally behind Hillary.

The day of the Texas Primary, I received three mailings. All three were from Hillary campaign. All three were attacking Obama. My thought was/is if all you have to say concerns attacking the other candidate then you really don't have too much to say! The mailings made up my mind and I voted Obama.........we also had a fair number of Republicans voting in the Democrat primary for Hillary. Republicans think they can win with McCain if he is running against Hillary and not Obama.............lol you just have to wonder about the patriotic bunch that voted such as this....they in all probability outsmarted themselves without realizing it...

Let's just keep tearing each other to shreads. It feels so good. Last one standing gets to be in office. This is our american way. Hate hope. Hate women. Love white men. Love war.

The reason I do not support Hillary is because of the way she was/is running her campaign. She is willing to win at any cost.

Samantha Power is an engaged woman with a proven record. I wouldn't have taken back a thing. I think monster is putting it mildly.

This the Obama inexperience showing. Like Bus and inexperienced candidate hiring inexperienced people who he can manage or control, so they keep making bone head statements causing problems all over the world. One called him a liar now another is compromising his integrity. Cant wait for the next person.

I was working in the lab late one night
When my eyes beheld an eerie sight
For my monster from her slab began to rise
And suddenly to my surprise

She did the mash
She did the monster mash
The monster mash
It was a graveyard smash
She did the mash
It caught on in a flash
She did the mash
She did the monster mash

From my laboratory in the castle east
To the master bedroom where the vampires feast
The Clintons all came from their humble abodes
To get a jolt from my electrodes

They did the mash
They did the monster mash
The monster mash
It was a graveyard smash
They did the mash
It caught on in a flash
They did the mash
They did the monster mash

The Clintons were having fun
The party had just begun
The guests included Wolf Man
Dracula and his son

The scene was rockin', all were digging the sounds
Igor on chains, backed by his baying hounds
The coffin-bangers were about to arrive
With their vocal group, "The Crypt-Kicker Five"

They played the mash
They played the monster mash
The monster mash
It was a graveyard smash
They played the mash
It caught on in a flash
They played the mash
They played the monster mash

Out from his coffin, Obama's voice did ring
Seems he was troubled by just one thing
He opened the lid and shook his fist
And said, "Whatever happened to my Transylvania twist?"

It's now the mash
It's now the monster mash
The monster mash
And it's a graveyard smash
It's now the mash
It's caught on in a flash
It's now the mash
It's now the monster mash

Now everything's cool, Bill's a part of the band
And my monster mash is the hit of the land
For you, the living, this mash was meant too
When you get to my door, tell them Hillary sent you

Then you can mash
Then you can monster mash
The monster mash
And do my graveyard smash
Then you can mash
You'll catch on in a flash
Then you can mash
Then you can monster mash

I wish DNC would change the way they do primaries. They should hold all primaries over a five week period. It would be a lot less money and we voters wouldn't have to put up with the mud slinging between our own candidates for long. I am getting tired already of the mud slinging. On either side.

i'd use the term "Ogress," not monster.

The nomination of Clinton gives McCain the best chance to win. There are millions of people who will never vote for another Clinton or a Bush.

calling this woman a monster is being too nice I have better words for her, i believe this woman is mentally unstable, and she will do anything with no shame to win the nomination, when she first start running she said the she was in to win regardless

Hillary is corrupt.

www.peterfpaul.com

Rezko ain't nothing compared to what this site will reveal about your girl Hillary.

Whitewater... among other things.

Oh... Her attacks are for when the DNC moves her ahead, which I really feel will happen, she can justify running with Edwards. Watch and See.

Democratic Party... you will take me for granted no more.

Well, as long as she "regrets" calling Clinton a monster, that makes it all ok!

The comment was an interesting glimpse into what Obama's staffers really think about "unity".

It isn't impossible for Hillary to win the nomination by the way. who knows how far this momentum will go for Hillary. Though improbable, she still has a chance at exceeding Obama's delegate count if she makes up that much ground. It is correct to say that both will be unable to reach the "magic" number but this is still an ongoing race, far from over.

It is a ridiculous comment. Everyone running for President will say and do anything to get elected - Obama included. Obama is not the second coming; he is a politician no different than any other who runs for President, though much less experienced than most. And neither Obama nor Clinton can win the nomination based only on primary results. We are likely to have a repeat of the 2000 election - Hillary gets more popular votes, Obama gets the nomination in back room dealings. If that happens, I hope Hillary runs as an independent. If she doesn't, I'll vote for a Republican for President for the first time in 10 presidential elections.

Reality math check on Obama at front-office of our nation... Obama = Chaos for next 4 years+

It seems to me if Obama really believes that his campaign is different from the politics of the past, then he has at least two advisors that he should have publically removed from his campaign. By not removing them, he seems to be telling all of us that he has a campaign strategy of having his staff and advisors continue the policies of the past and then when they get caught simply saying his campaign doesn't do such things. Fool me once, shame on me. Fool me twice, same on you.

It seems to me that, yes Hillary has been negative, but her negativity is about Obama's record and what pertains to this election and the experience that is needed to be President. I am not aware of anything personal attacks she has made about Obama or Michelle. But now it seems like Obama or his crew are starting to get personal and that's way out of line. As far as the comments on the blogs that have gotten personal about Hillary i.e. bitch, etc, and her family, well you can only consider the type of person that would do that sort of thing. Come on people let's stick to the issues and forget name calling and personal attacks.

Thomas,

Clinton did not write NAFTA, Bush senior wrote it. Get your facts right!

I understand why Ms. Power regrets saying it publicly, but her characterization of Hillary is correct: she IS a monster who will do ANYTHING to win, even if it means destroying the Democratic Party in the process. Hillary's declaration yesterday that she and McCain are the only two candidates running who are capable of being commander in chief was abhorrent. If she wins the nomination, I'm supporting McCain. That's apparently what she's suggesting we should all do if Barack is the nominee. And did anyone pick up the news reports (MSNBC) last night that it was the Clinton campaign who contacted the Canadian embassy to calm their fears about NAFTA? This is utterly deceitful - she is a monster.

I wouldn't call Hillary a monster but she will almost stoop to anything. At this point, she seems to be running a campaign based on "I will win or no democrat will".

In response to MJ, Hillary is as ambiguous as Obama on NAFTA and she received funding from Rezko's co-defendants.

From the Canadian press, Clinton's campaign had even contacted Canadian diplomats to tell them not to worry because the NAFTA threats were mostly political posturing.

And Daily Kos has an article, featuring a picture of Hillary, Bill, and Rezko, which says that
Of the other five defendants, three have donated to the Clintons or to Clinton supporters.

It is a shame. It should be a great year for the Democrats. I am a Democrat but i will never ever vote for someone as graceless, arrogant and selfish as HRC.

The Clinton's have a sense of entitlement.

She will never win the gen election

I was under the impression that the primary qualification you sought in a foreign policy adviser was the wisdom not to blurt out embarrassing statements abroad.

If Obama's advisers can't even manage this, what does that say about Obama's ability to pick staff?

Since getting whipped in Ohio, the Obama campaign has seemed both tentative and sulky. Now the senator's team is making beginner's mistakes.

To complement Power's "misspeak," last night on MSNBC I saw a video clip featuring another young woman who advises Obama on foreign affairs. Again, the audience saw an "expert" allow her mouth to out-run her brain.

In discussing Clinton's notorious "3 a.m. phone call" ad, this Obama foreign affairs adviser insisted Sen. Clinton is NOT ready for the 3 a.m. phone call because she's had no more actual national executive experience than Obama. This bird-brain then added: "Neither of them is ready [for the 3 a.m. call]."

I have been supporting Obama, telling myself that what he lacks in experience can be supplied by a strong team of wise advisers. But now I'm starting to wonder--just look at the bunch speaking for his campaign! I don't want a posse of amateurs who blab without thinking to be in charge of national affairs.

David Axelrod needs to exert some control--or is Axelrod himself melting? (I've seen Axelrod in a losing situation before, and he doesn't handle setbacks very well.)

It's sad to see the Obama campaign careen over a cliff because of one setback. I hope someone (Hello? Michelle?) can talk some sense into the senator before it's too late.

And Obama, ever being the diligent lawyer, keeps his hands clean. It wasn't him, it was an "advisor". Then he turns around and says he won't have that in his campaign. No, he'll let his cronies do the talking and when the opionion turns against it, he'll hide. Reminiscent of G.W. Bush, isn't it?!

As a registered Democrat, I'm once again disappointed how well we're shooting ourselves in the foot.

Nationally, reading all the blogs it amazes me to see the hypocrisy of my party members. When push comes to shove our personal bigotries show up.

Every needs to get real about this. HRC was suppose to be crowned by now. She was anointed by the Party machine and had all the major local parties behind her.

Someone just forgot to tell the people. Now that the populist rules of proportional delegates are inconvenient, HRC and the party machine are going back to politics as usual.

She's going to win using Party closed door rules.

There was no way a freshman senator fighting the Party machine should even be close.

With friends like Power (and that other female Obama representative we heard from on Charlie Rose the other night) who needs enemies? These Obama zealots are certainly helping this undecided voter decide who "not" to vote for. We've all heard these types of comments from young, uninformed new voters who've fallen into the undefined claims of "hope" and "change" and not investigated any further than that. I chalk it up to nothing more than under-educated bubblehead groupies feeling desperate. But it makes me question Obama's choices of representatives. I challenge anyone to do something as basic and quick as looking up Hillary on wikipedia and reading the history of her achievements. Do the others too; it's actually informative. This is a very respectable person and she doesn't deserve seething statements like these. We just spent the last 8 years stuck with the result of an uninformed vote based on a lot of guessing and rhetoric - let's not do it again.

"But if you are poor and she is telling you some story about how Obama is going to take your job away ..."

Forget about calling Hillary a "monster," Hillary can take it. She's tough and smart. But insulting poor people, as if they're not smart enough to make up their minds about issues important to them, that shows a real disdain for the voters. And that really makes Samantha Power bad news.

hmmmmm.... seems strange that Obama's voting record is 95% the same as Clinton's....they really aren't very different...maybe there can be a Pimp N Ho Ball at the Dem. Conv.?....

so the new modus operandi is to have an adviser go potty on the opponent, "off the record", and then if caught, have obamaghandi publicly spank the advisor, and remind people that it's not how he operates.. "on the record". Obamiacs, put down the nitrous tank and sober up. Change? Different kinda politics? Just words? JUST WORDS?? ... You bet!

This is were experience and judgment counts. Steadman found himself in a similar predicament a couple years back. In an unguarded moment he called their pool boy a cretin. Oprah smoothed everything over by giving him a new Pontiac. All we need to know from Hillary is what color she would like and whether that car be a convertible or not. Now Folks, that is change you can believe in.

Until such time as Mr. Obama actually tells me what he will do as president instead of simply stating that he is going to change things, my bet is on Hillary Clinton. At least I know what she is all about, with Obama - who knows? He says lots of words but never says anything! Just listen to the speech he gave on Tuesday night...I waited patiently through his entire speech but never heard even one word about exactly how he plans to bring about this magical change he talks about. Obviously he must have a plan, right? Well I think it is time to hear it!

Hillary may or may not be a monster, but what we do know is that she is a fighter

She fought the Republicans and the Democrats to pass a failed health bill... failed and got knocked up.

She threw the fight against George Bush and sent our men and women over to Iraq
( now they are doing the fighting for her ) 4000 dead and counting....but that was then, this is NOW

She joined her husband in pardoning quite a few criminals..... That would technically be considered a tag team fight.

She may not be a monster, but as a fighter, I wouldn't want her on my side.

The Democrat party needs to die. Clinton will surely be its end. Obama needs to start a PERMANENT 3rd party and become the voice of the opposition to both the Clintons and Bush elements of the Yale University Law School Dynasty. There is great desertification among both Democrats and Republicans, and it is time for real change, its time for the United States to have 3 parties and only Obama can do it.

People voted for Obama without thinking of what they were doing. Now it down to seriously finding a new President and it IS NOT Obama. He thus far is all talk and I am sure he will not deliver anything he says. In fact, he is more like McCain.

The media has too much influence over these primaries. There actually should be about six months of campaigning throughout the states and then one day of primaries for every state and the nominee decided. That would be the most fair method.

It also seems to me that caucasian males feel threatended by Hilliary becoming the next president and are attempting everything they can to ensure that Obama is the nominee. Wait until the General Election and you will then see racism rear its ugly head.

Everything is reported to Hilliary's disadvantage and Obama's advantage no matter what it is that one has to see the sexism that is permeating our society.

We are finally seeing through this process that women are at the very bottom.

It's as if Obama is surrounded by a bunch of naive, kumbaya singing kids who just got out of college. First economic guru Goolsbee and his personal summit with the Canadians. Then Michelle's nasty little "national malaise" snit about how mean, slothful and complacent Americans are. And now Barack's foreign affairs expert shouting names at Hillary. This bunch is definitely not ready for prime time.

She's right. "Monster" is a compliment for Billary.

here goes Obama again....I really wonder who is the monster now....

With Goolsbee and Power putting their feet in it, individually economics and foreign policy advisers, the Obama campaign is beginning to look like one of the zanier versions of The Keystone Cops.

While Ms. Power's choice of words may seem a bit harsh, I think she is right on the mark. Sen. Clinton and the "Clinton Machine" have shown she/they will stoop to any "low" to win the Democratic nomination. Why are we surprised - this is typical Clinton behavior that is repeated over and over again. By the way, we're 59 & 60 and voting Republican for the first time in our lives.

Do you really want to use Oprah as a selling point for your campaign? Can you imagine how often that bloated windbag will be at the White House doing shows if Obama wins?

Remember, the ogress/monster and the guy who has all these far left children working for him are just going to get together and make everything fine on one ticket. Right...

DESPERATION: Now that the Obamans are feeling vulnerable, with all of Obama's skeletons coming out and frightening people - they have to resort to name calling. "Look, the monster is over there - Hillary, not Obama!" It was inevitable that Obama's monsters would come out to haunt him; everyone was in total DENIAL.

Still waiting for just one item remotely relevant to the extraordinarily difficult job of running this country. He said, she said, who cares? Get serious candidates and media, please.

Samantha Power is a lightweight. Obama should replace her:

Not Ready For Prime Time

Power told the interviewer that President Obama would engage with President Ahmadinejad, North Korea, and Syria (the campaign, through its Jewish outreach point man, Rep. Wexler, had seemed to back away from the idea of negotiating directly with Ahmadinejad, but that was to an Israeli and Jewish audience). Power was then asked whether "there is anyone [Obama] wouldn't talk to." She replied that there was no one among "elected heads of state" and that "he won't talk to Hamas, but he would talk to Abbas."

The interviewer reminded Power that Hamas was a democratically-elected government and that Abbas' Fatah party lost the last popular vote. At that point, Power embarked on a rambling discourse about America's prior history of negotiating with dictators who have displaced democratically elected governments. But, of course, Hamas has not been displaced, and Power provided no principled explanation for why, under Obama's theory that we should negotiate with the bad guys to avoid the perception of being arrogant, he would not negotiate with Hamas. In fact, Power's scrambling was so transparent that her sympathetic interviewer concluded she did not believe what she was saying. "Dissembling does not come easy to her at all," was his conclusion.

Uh, Hillary's been doing that for a long time. I wish the Left had the integrity to take responsibility for their own actions. Stop projecting Dem dirty tricks on Rove. You're the ones who tried to steal the 2000 election.

In the heat of a very hot campaign, an ardent supporter made a personal comment that she thought would be off the record. It is unfortunate that it was reported and now becomes a news story. Clearly, watching the double standard that is being applied toward Sen. Obama caused her emotional outburst. Is this worst than calling Obama Ken Starr; lieing about his experience; releasing a photo of him designed to stir anti-Muslim sentiments; not repudiating anti Black statements made by a supporter in Texas; comparing him unfavorably to McCain? Not hardly. Ms Power was correct that Clinton will do anything to win which is evident by her attempt to change the rules in the middle of the campaign with Mi and Fla.

Just prooves that whether their name is Hillary or Samantha, they shouldn't be allowed out of the house.

Diana: This bird-brain then added: "Neither of them is ready [for the 3 a.m. call]."

I actually was happy with that honest answer. She said that none of the candidates are ready for that call since none of them have had that experience.

Also, I find it disturbing that you call her a bird-brain for being honest.

I wish Hillary and Obama would call a cease-fire and both start campaigning against McCain now. But, with Hillary I know this can't happen.

The Obama adviser only regrets it because she got caught. Shows the maturity level of Obama and staff. If this had happened earlier in the primary Clinton would be way ahead. The true Obama is coming out.

...Sen. Obama, your "hot seat" is ready.

These posts have been interesting to read. Since Ohio, Obama is finally receiving the scrutiny that is needed. I think we have all seen some of his significant weaknesses emerge, so the time has been well-spent. Neither candidate can reach the magic delegate number without using the super-delegates. The candidates need to get together on one ticket with Hillary on the top spot. Obama can mature and be ready to take over in 8 years. God knows it will take the US that long and longer to recover from the Bush years!

It's been stated on the post already but...

"Brodie is accused of being the secret source who told CTV journalists on Feb. 26 that the staff of Democratic presidential hopefuls Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton had quietly told Canadian officials that their public statements about wanting to renegotiate NAFTA were not to be taken seriously.

But for reasons that are not clear, it was Obama, not Clinton, who became the main focus of CTV's story on the matter."

Sad times....
I am voting absentee ballot against Harper the first chance I get.

one interesting thing in all these postings is that people seem to hate Clinton for what she has done,(usually to republicans) can some list 10 things that Clinton has done to warranty such attacks on her. Then compare her record to that of Obama. The republicans are so scared of Clinton that even the conservative media is scared of talking about Obama who is their only hope. some people are so naive.... Obama the Uniter... Please....unite who??? what makes you think the republicans will work with him. The republicans are scared of Clinton because they know that no matter what lie they have told about HRC they cant prove it. They know she is a hard worker but at the end of the day they are republican and she is not one of them. Bill did great things that benefited America and the world but did they help ??? NO NO, instead they tried to bring him down.Again and again. In spite of his personal problems the man left the country much better that it is now. Every time Clinton asks a legitimate question about Obama's record its negative campaigning, even the press is so mesmerized by Obama's Oratorical skills they don't even want to question him??? Every educated person knows how "bad" plagiarism is but no we cant judge Obama by the same standard. Are we so desperate a generation that we cant even think for ourselves???

You are all MISSING the point... This was IMO a brilliant political move... Get a person in the campaign to say the things you want to have said but can't... then claim ignorance.... I wonder how much she got for doing it....

Now that the words are out there... people will remember them... they will sit in the subconscience... and feaster...

While I agree that she is a monster who will do or kill or whatever to get to where she wants to be (like her husband)... it really would be interesting if the candidates spoke about actual issues and compared each other in a real fashion instead of this bullcrap...

I support Clinton and I'm not delusional. I'm a life long democrat, with a college education who remembers the economic success of the Bill Clinton administration. The fact that Obama's team is stooping to tactics used by the Arkansas Project is truly revealing. The caucuses in the larger Texas cities were fraudulent and loaded to his advantage. Check it out.
He's a sham and the Rezco trial will show it. She's releasing her tax returns
in April as announced and like Starr, Obama won't find anything. Alot of hay making over nothing, but Obama call the Chicago papers, you can't run away forever.
And Obama, taking credit for legislation that others worked on leaves a trail of resentment and is unbecoming to a political savior. Keep up the coverage as our main stream media have once again embarassed themselves with the usual bias. The GOP wants Obama because McCain will slaughter the freshman senator. Even the Dem. base ( over 40 ) will probably vote for experience over another Carter experiment. That set us back 12 years in the white house and over 16 years in congress. Wake up America, if you subtract the youth vote ( who historically have a low turn out in Nov. )
He does'nt stand a chance, and he's beginning to alienate the base. His supporters are playing the race card and continuing to use tactics that us "uneducated workig class base" see right through. Never under estimate the common sense of the working class. It occasionally ( in texas, rarely ) does come to the fore. In New York they say "empy suit" in texas " all hat and no cattle", both mean the same thing. If the DNC seats Florida and MIchigan, she's way ahead. They'll have to seat them, and if they run a do over,
she'll win both because of the demographics. Florida will go with California and Michigan will go with Ohio and Pennsylvania. He was on the ballot in florida just like Clinton. If anyone's interested the county map of Texas showing the popular vote is telling as she locked up so much of the state, it's hard to see where he dominated outside the four urban centers he campaigned in. Texas is a big place and her team was everywhere, especially throughout the agricultural regions. It payed off.

Old time politics. This is as good as it gets. "Hillary is a Monster." Clinton backage from ther 1990's. The Tony Rezko corruption trial in Chicago. Obama once referred to Tony Rezko as his "political Godfather." Obama's land deal with Rezko was a real dandy. And then there are the exchanges between some of the Clinton and Obama advisers television that can't be repeated on the air. They use dirty words. Stay tuned. This race is getting really excciting.

Well, look at that... I guess Obamabots aren't as nice and fluffy as they pretend to be. Once in a while, an unprogrammed code line comes out. Yes we can - we can hate.

Hate to say it...but...this sure seems like good old Washington politics.
Where's the change?

JACKSON, Miss.—Sen. Barack "Obama suffered another foreign policy snafu with one of his advisers, who told a newspaper that his rival, Sen. Hillary Clinton, was a “monster” who is “stooping to anything” to try to win the Democratic presidential nomination."

Snafu my A%S!!! She shouldn't back down from a true statement. Hilaary, YOU ARE A MONSTER!!! That's I think as nice a thing as I've called her in the last couple of weeks. She's a scary egocentric, megalomaniacal party crasher, as in destroying the democratic party. I mean how else can you describe a woman who took the ultimate cheap shot yesterday when she said that she and her republican opponent, John McCain were fit to lead but when asked about Obama she said you'll have to ask him. I'm telling you this woman is CRAZY!!!

Obama supporters will flock to McCain in drove if she manages to steal this thing and make no mistake, she is working in Philly today. This campaign is moving into the backrooms, and straight to the halls of power. Hillary is a frightening person who I will never support given her conduct of late. This ain't sour grapes, this is a matter of principal. A quallity she does not possess. I know for a fact that the DNC and political pundits are already recognizing that, Houston WE HAVE A PROBLEM.

Hillary violated Reagans 12th commandment, never trash someone from your party to the advantage of the other party. Hillary Clinton party crasher.

Hillary is doing what the republican party couldn't, snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. Pathetic is right Hillary. You are that and more. A traitor.

She is a national disgrace!!!

Our economy is imploading. Michigan has been ravaged by politicians who whish to ignore it. The Michiganders deserve to vote.

Monster?? Are you serious? How dare you unaccurately describe the empress, her majesty, your highness? The accurate description would be BOGEYMAN or better yet, HOBGOBLIN!! Hmmpmph!

The Obama campaign apologizes for calling Hillary a monster.

The only reason they should apologize is for stating the obvious.

This childish name calling only plays into the hands of McCains campaign. It also brings the level of what should be a true discussion of the issues down to the sand box level. The time of reckoning will be at hand soon enough. The upswing, McCain will be elected in November. When you look at the exchanges amongst the so-called Democrats, it cannot be any other way .

Why retract it? Hillary IS deceitful and will do anything to get elected. She has no integrity at all. A monster? Seems that way to me.

monstress...
her vote to support the war on iraq was, indeed, monstrous.

Karl Rove must be laughing his posterior off. The childishness of some of these Clinton-haters is amazing. Grow up, we have a country to take back.

So she got called a monster by someone in the Obama camp. It would be a huge dust up if the Obama campaign hadn't already come out on this quickly and harshly.

Mean while Clinton will not even admit that Obama is not a Muslim, purposely trying to make it seem like he might be.

She is morally corrupt and bankrupt. Her one trump card is that she is a woman and she is playing that every place she can. I am sorry, while I would love to see a woman be president, she is not the person that would bring the office any prestige. Getting her elected would set back women another 50 years.

It is time for Hillary to provide a time line of the 35 years of experience, especially on foreign affairs and crisis on behalf of the United States. Was she just giving speeches in the 80 or so countries she visited or was she providing solutions? I had never heard of Hillary Clinton until she became first lady. It's amazing that she demands proof from Obama but never give any proof of these 35 years of service on behalf of this country. I didn't know that being first lady included making decisions on foreign affairs. However, we all know that during her 6 years as Senator she voted to invade Iraq. Why isn't the media questioning these claims. It's time for a reality check and a time line on these 35 years of events.

No wonder the Democrats can't win a general election. By the time the PA primary rolls around next month, McCain will have benefitted from 6 weeks of free attack ads against either/both of his Nov opponents.

Super delegates, a brokered convention, 2 disinfranchised, vital general election states (FL & MI) due to DNC pettiness, and last but not least, the 2 least qualified, yet gender & race attractive candidates to the "base" from a strong field. Don't be surprised when McCain wins in Nov. The Dems are proving they can screw up a one car funeral.

I have a simple question for Hillary. When did she know Bill was having his affair? If she didn't know until it was public then how will she know what's going on in the world when she doesn't know in her own home? If she says before, then why did she lie on national television and state I would never be with a man who did that and if he did I would be gone.

Agree

I totally believe in a different kind of politics. I believe we should be more civil and truthful, and also maintain more than an ounce of integrity. That being said, I am more than put off that Hillary is willing to cry when someone is filming it. She's willing to play the "woe is me" act when hit on something. It makes me sick that this is the characterization she's putting out there for female politicians. And for the igmo women that are voting for her because it's "our turn"..I mean, seriously, what are you thinking? I want a strong woman to be our first female President. The evil, maniacal laugh makes me queasy. The folksy display of being funny, personable, and just like us mere mortals makes me shake my head. All the personalities, grand weak moments, and efforts at showing how human she can be remind me of my mom. And while I love her, she's the least emotionally, mentally stable person I've ever known in my life. They say the devil you know is safer. In this case, my gut is saying "Please no".

Gee...who says women aren't catty?

Hillary Clinton is a monster. He didn't get it wrong. Why hasn't Wolfson apologized to Obama for his "Ken Starr" remark? It makes me sick to think that several of the conservative talk show hosts actually got it right about The Clintons and their behavior when they aren't in control or being controlled by their campaign strategist. A friend of mine used to play in the top Air Force band and said that she was absolutely cruel, period. I guess he was right.

Personal and immature. these people are usng the Arkansas Project as a blueprint, even dredging up the same old stuff that was discredited after millions of tax payer dollars were wasted. Clinton is'nt tearing the party apart, Obama's team is. She'll release her taxes and they'll find nothing. Bill's
financial affairs since leaving office will be examined. What will tear the DNC apart is discounting Michigan nd especially Florida. Texas caucuses were rigged and she carried the state.Wake up Dean and show some leadership. Barry, call Chicago and have a chat. we're waiting.

For Bob and all the other people that keep with the "He ain't got no plan!" stuff..Quit being a droid, and go read it for yourself on his website. You're in danger of being the person campaigns target because you don't put in your own footwork to be informed. Voting is a right, but it's your responsibility to use it wisely. Thanks in advance.

I don't know for sure if this is a campaign tactic, but didn't the McCain camp pull the same thing a few weeks ago. You know, where the radio personality who was to introduce McCain for a rally kept using the name Hussain when he was talking about Barrack. McCain then said later, with a nod and a wink, that he didn't approve of such tactics? Maybe this is the tough side of Barrack rearing its ugly head.

The Obama crew is strangely reminiscent of the loose cannons and dilletantes who ran Jimmy Carter's disasterous administration.

He has an economic advisor running to the Canadian consulate to spill the beans on Obama's real NAFTA position and now an advisor making impolitic statements to the foreign press.

Obama's failure to ever have been vetted in a serious campaign and his general inexperience is showing.
