The Swamp

by Mark Silva

“You’d be amazed at how many guys want to go fishing with me these days,’’ said Vice President Dick Cheney, donning a wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses – like the ones that offered up a reflection that created much speculation on the Internet recently.

That was no naked lady reflected in the sunglasses in the photo of Cheney flyfishing on the White House Web-site – it was hands on a fly rod. But that was, for sure, the vice president of the United States on stage at the annual dinner of the Radio and Television Correspondents last night in Washington.

Cheney said he felt welcome: “Obviously you’re not the kind to look down on a bitter man who clings to his guns,’’ he said.

OK, so that was a shot at Barack Obama’s now-famous comment on the “bitterness’’ of working-class voters. Cheney also got off a shot at Hillary Clinton’s shot of whisky on the campaign trail: “Did you see that footage of Hillary knocking back that shot with a beer chaser? People say she did it like an and old pro. I didn’t realize she’d been in the Senate that long. Looked like she replaced Mark Penn with Johnnie Walker.’’

Cheney had met with Pope Benedict XVI earlier in the day. “I spent the morning with one infallible authority, and now I get to spend an evening with a thousand of them,’’ he told the correspondents. He had enjoyed his counsel with the Pope, he said – “It’s rare that I run into somebody who’s heard more secrets than I have.’’

He confided in the pontiff “that I have been thinking a lot of unkind thoughts about the news media.’’ Cheney told him, “I don’t think they like me.’ He told me: 'So?'’’

I am counting the days until Vice-President Cheney vacates Blair House. He should never have been living there, for the last eight years, if we, as true Americans had voted right!!! Good-bye, Vice-President, don't let the door hit you in the elbow!!
SUPPORT OUR TROOPS, BRING THEM HOME, ALIVE. NOW.

Cheney--you war criminal.
Do NOT get involved in the Democrats' efforts to get Obama to quit hurting our efforts to bring you to the War Court of the Hague.
We'll take down Mr. Fake on our own and whip him with some organic wet noodles our own selves.
What are you doing out anyway?
Aren't you scheduled for surgery anyway?

Mr. Fitzgerald, Americans did vote right in 2004 and enough Americans voted correctly in 2000 in enough states so that Mr. Cheney could live in the Blair House. Cheney has been the best VP this country has had in, well 20 years anyway.

"I am counting the days until Vice-President Cheney vacates Blair House."

Here is a scary thought....

There is nothing in the constitution prohibiting a VP from hanging around more than 8 years. In theory, McCain could pick him as his running-mate.

Sorry to ruin your morning ;)

You are entitled to your opinion, " John D ", about our present Vice-President. I would only like to refresh your memory about this " best VP this country has had....20 years. " and his many deferrals, when asked to serve his country during the Viet Nam era. I think his justification was: I had different priorities. His country calls and he can't serve his country and now he waves the flag, and cheers our good men and women in uniform that are enforcing the Bush/ Cheney Occupation of Iraq!! Is that fair? Is that what a good American does when your country calls? I don't think so!! So, I guess your definition of a good American is one who avoids serving their country in a time of need!! " John D ", I hope you re-think your evaluation of VP Cheney, as well as President Bush. They have both done great harm to America, both, at home and abroad!!!
SUPPORT OUR TROOPS, BRING THEM HOME, ALIVE. NOW.

Teflon, what a great invention.
I love this guy. I even love this country.

John D -
Thank you for the laugh! You are freakin' hilarious as always!

A regular comedian, that Cheney.

Under Darth, we had subordinates outing undercover CIA agents to settle political scores.

Under Darth ,we embraced torture and the suppression of civil rights.

Under Darth, we made preemptive wars based on cooked intelligence the new M.O. of United States foreign policy.

Under Darth, we allowed Big Energy to write policy--worked out well for them, not for us.

Under Darth, Halliburton and its subsidiaries got tens of billions in no-bid contracts, then proceeded to overcharge the government and deliver shoddy goods and services.

There's more, much more--illegal surveillance of U.S. citizens, the creation of a "fourth" branch of government, destruction of White House E-mails.

Cheney, who's approval rating stands at 15% (so?), will be remembered in infamy as the worst president, er, vice president in U.S. history, far surpassing the bumbling Dan Quayle and the crooked Spiro Agnew.

Darth will always be first in the propane-damaged mind of John D., however, who never met a dictator he didn't like.

Up until now, it was generally difficult to rate vice presidents, but Vice President Cheney, along with all of the other evil stuff that he has apparently managed to do, has somehow changed all of that.

What does a Texas guy have to do to get ripped apart around here? I love this guy. Seriously.

The best vice-president in the past 50 years was damn funny last night - nice job Mr. Cheney

Cheney will go down in history are one of the greatest Vice President's. Sure he didn't invent the Internet like Al Gore, but he did help defeat the terrorists who hate our freedom! Chicago loves Cheney!!!!!
