The Swamp: Clinton camp irks PA mayor

Hillary Clinton’s campaign today abruptly cancelled a meeting that some of her volunteers scheduled with Hazleton Mayor Lou Barletta, calling the matter a “mistake” brewed by over-eager supporters of the New York senator.

The meeting would have been striking because Barletta is a Republican running against Rep. Paul Kanjorski, a Clinton supporter. Also, the mayor is at odds with Clinton over immigration policy. He has gained national attention for introducing an ordinance to crack down on businesses that employ illegal aliens and landlords that rent to them. Clinton supported a Senate measure last year to give illegal aliens a path to citizenship.

“The campaign has volunteers who go to primary states on their own and discuss Sen. Clinton’s record on different issues,” said Clinton communications director Howard Wolfson. “In this instance they made a mistake. As soon as we found out about it, of course the meeting was cancelled. … There is no way that the campaign would authorize a meeting with Mayor Barletta.”

Barletta’s camp didn’t take news of the cancelled meeting lightly.

“A half-hour before they were supposed to be in Hazleton, Sheila Menz, Senator Clinton’s economic development aide, told Campaign Manager Vince Galko they were unable to attend the meeting they arranged,” said Shawn Kelly, a Barletta campaign spokesman. “What happened? Why did they set the meeting then cancel it?”

Barletta's campaign has invited all of the presidential candidates to meet with the mayor to discuss immigration policy. Presumptive GOP nominee John McCain's campaign has said he's far too busy -- all the way through November.

If Clinton doesn't win PA by 20% it will be a win for Obama because the Clintonites own PA and all the inner workings of that state, Mayor's, Governor etc.

Senator Bob Casey is the only official in that state who has any common sense.

Barletta is just playing politics because he wants to run for higher office.

Were not all follies and see his game.

He should STOP Playing politics on the backs of poor people and start showing WHAT HE HAS DONE IN "REALITY" FOR HIS TOWN?

Stop complaining about the illegal alien invasion? Do something for yourself! NOW! TODAY!

American patriotic forces must stop the travesty of our immigration laws. We must Demand the two-tier fence and zero tolerance on the border. Billions of dollars are spent each year on the health care of illegal foreign nationals, while citizens are left behind as a low priority. Forced by federal mandate taxpayers must support the education and hospital care for these people. They walk away without paying a dime as 46 million citizens remain without health care.

Representative Duncan Hunter, R-Calif, author of the fencing provisions of the Secure Fence Act of 2006, introduced new legislation in the House of Representatives to require the construction of double-layered fencing along the U.S. border with Mexico. But an amendment submitted by Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, R-Texas, into the Fiscal Year 2008 Department of Homeland Security funding bill, H.R. 2638, specifically exempts DHS from having to build any fence at all? In other words this pro-illegal immigrant Democrat has gutted the fence, signed into law by President Bush.

The Hutchison amendment reads, in part, " … nothing in this paragraph shall require the Secretary of Homeland Security to install fencing, physical barriers, roads, lighting, cameras, and sensors in a particular location along an international border of the United States, if the Secretary determines that the use or placement of such resources is not the most appropriate means to achieve and maintain operational control over the international border at such location."

Like most families we have a mixture of Democrat and Republican voters, who see the fence as a major necessity, to stop the unfettered illegal immigration. If not halting the mass of humanity pouring into our nation. It would help to restrain the activity of drug smugglers, illegal people peddlers until the border patrol can arrive on the spot. Yet some Democrats like Hutchinson doesn't want illegal aliens apprehended, otherwise she would not have added this clause. Then again the majority of Democrats have reneged on the controversial SAVE ACT, because it is an enforcement only bill, that would absolutely have an countrywide interior effect on this who have already invaded our country.

An example of the huge budget meltdown for supporting illegal aliens in California is just the tip of the proverbial iceberg, quoting from a Los Angeles newspaper. The growing connection between the wilting economy and illegal immigration is irrefutable. We only have to look at the massive budget deficit in California to realize the implications around our nation. Quoted as saying.

"Illegal immigration continues to have a devastating impact Los Angeles County taxpayers," Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich said. "With $220 million for public safety, $400 million for health care, and $420 million in welfare allocations, the total cost for illegal immigrants to county taxpayers far exceeds $1 billion a year - not including the millions of dollars for education."

Assemblywoman Mimi Walters, a Republican from Oceanside, said illegal immigrants cost California taxpayers an estimated $9 billion each year.
