The Swamp

by Josh Drobnyk

After a flood of Pennsylvania newspaper endorsements for Barack Obama, the University of Pennsylvania's Daily Pennsylvanian did something today that seemed unlikely to happen, particularly given how well the senator does among young voters: it endorsed Hillary Clinton.

This was a symbolic victory for a Clinton campaign that has fought hard to woo students in Pennsylvania, sending Chelsea and Bill to campuses throughout the state over the past five weeks. In the big states Clinton has won, she has pulled even among young voters.

Here's a snippet...

"Pennsylvania Democrats are confronted with a tragedy of riches: two incredibly appealing candidates for their Party's nomination.

We want to believe that Sen. Barack Obama can accomplish all he promises. His soaring rhetoric and compelling vision have inspired us and many other students.

But while Obama's charisma far outshines that of Sen. Hillary Clinton, her public service, political experience and tenacity tell us not only "Yes we can" but also "How we can." As such, we endorse Clinton for the Democratic Party's nomination for president.

Our endorsement is not a rejection of Obama's leadership qualities. But choosing the president of the United States is too important a decision to make based on hope alone. After finishing his term in the Senate and better showing us what he can do for the American people, Obama could one day be a remarkable president."

Wow. The Swamp actually did this: post something positive about Hillary without at the same time demeaning it.

This guy Drobnyk must be new or something. Someone forgot to tell him this is a bash-Clinton-and-all-others-who-are-not-Obama blog. Fire him immediately!

I'm pretty sure that the Fiction Club at the U of Penn had something to do with this because most people quit believing anything Clinton and her head campaign flunkie, Mark Penn had to say a LONG time ago.

what an "elitist" opinion

good thing these eggheads had nothing to say about the election of 1960

using their logic, they would have chosen Nixon

can't these know-it-alls do math ??? OBVIOUSLY NOT - BECAUSE IF THEY COULD DO MATH THEY WOULD KNOW

A) HILLARY CAN'T KEEP 1/4 OF HER PROMISES

B) SHE CAN'T BEAT MCCAIN IN A STRAIGHT UP CAMPAIGN (WHICH MEANS MORE NEGATIVE, DIVISIVE, SMEARING, SAME OLE, SAME OLE DIRTY POLITICS AND

C) SHE CAN'T OVERTAKE OBAMA FOR THE NOMINATION WITHOUT "ELITIST" SUPERDELEGATES OVERRULING THE WILL OF THE VOTERS

In something of an against-the-grain pick, Hillary Clinton won the endorsement today of the independent student newspaper at the University of Pennsylvania.

The Daily Pennsylvanian came down on the side of Clinton's experience over Barack Obama's charisma.

"We want to believe that Sen. Barack Obama can accomplish all he promises. His soaring rhetoric and compelling vision have inspired us and many other students," the endorsement said. "But while Obama's charisma far outshines that of Sen. Hillary Clinton, her public service, political experience and tenacity tell us not only 'Yes we can' but also 'How we can.' As such, we endorse Clinton for the Democratic Party's nomination for president.

We have studied the records, resumes, speeches and campaigns of both Senator Clinton and Senator Obama.

We like both of these candidates. However, there is little doubt in our minds that it is Hillary who really has figured out what needs to be done once Bush is gone; and she presents her ideas and her plans in a straightforward and realistic manner.

It is quite a romantic notion that Senator Obama will "change the face of Washington". Personally, we don't see it. His entire record reveals that he is a regular politician in every way.

We like Sen. Obama, but I think it would be a grave error for the Democratic Party to elect him as its nominee.

Sen. Clinton is in a class of her own. She just continues to impress us as the only candidate who will actually get things done in an expeditious manner. And we, the people of Pennsylvania, very much need that kind of a President over the next few years.

Today we donated, for the first
time, to Hillary's campaign and we look forward to voting for her in a few days.

God bless America.

I think people sometimes forget just how far behind Clinton really is, she needs to win Pa by at least 20% in order to even stay competitive in this race.

Clintons fakeness isn't flying with a nation that has had their BS Meters™ working overtime for the last 7 years.

I think that's why Obama is so successful in deflecting this unprecedented media attack blitz. The nation truly is bitter, and part of that bitterness is towards the fourth estate having sold out their journalistic credentials for corporate profits

she hunts and drinks- yea right
she will lie about anything if it helps her get elected!

Overall, the blog's pretty fair to both candidate. Hilary had to tone bill down earlier and did. Now Barack's mouth and frat boy antics are getting him in trouble.
Even Hilary haters are going to have a problem with someone who wants to represent us to other nations flipping the bird on his own face after he mentions Hilary's name.
Rezko, Grandma, Wright, Trashed low income housing in his district, Michelle 'ladies against women', 30 years of tax records, confusing earmarks, U of C Daley job (with daycare), Ayers, and now making obscene gestures with a camera rolling? (Give the guy an arugula smoothie so he can think!)
